I've said it before, I'll say it again- the reason /tg/ can be so... well, civil, is because we're used to taking to people (well, perhaps more than most other 'nerd' boards on 4chan), and interacting with them civilly. Even Jim Profit typed legibly and with correct spelling, which is more than can be said for most of the "MOOT IS A FAG x 9001 LOL" trolls I've seen elsewhere. /tg/ gets them too, but we generally don't really pay them much attention.
