    I am heavily in favor of a very mixed-arms approach, let the nukes be Fucking Nukes, sure there can be super-weapon pokemon, I love idea of the Nazi mew-two program. But one of the main roles of Pokemon should be basic Infantry Support, pokemon are inherently Loyal, Obedient, and Intelligent, they are dogs, but more useful and dangerous. Even the more intelligent pokemon like Alakhazam have an innate compulsion to serve and obey their master, (not that this can't be overcome or is all powerful, but it should be a broad generalization).

    I really bought into the propaganda, you know? Enlist now! Fight to defend the free world, for honor and glory and all that. A slice of apple pie with every victory.

    But the real world is nothing like that.

    I was a solid shot and had a talent for moving quietly. Got pushed into a special course. Sniper school. I was rushed through, not 'cause they thought I was good, but because of how hard the allies were getting hit over here.

    I understand how things work now. My old company is gone, every last man. I'm the only one left. But that's alright. I have a new company now.

    I'm not sure when they showed up. Maybe they were always there, just watching the war from the sidelines. Watching us kill each other.

    I talk to them, but they don't reply. Sometimes they help me out, letting me know when someone's sneaking up on me or where the landmines are buried. Only ever got one word out of them.

    "Ghastly." I like that word.

    One of them appears by my shoulder, a little line like a mouth curving up in a smile. There's Germans around. What, you think I ran away? That I wasn't still fighting? Hell no! I know what'll happen to the world if the Nazis have their way.

    More of 'em appear. They're all smiling like it's a regular day at the beach. Waiting for the show.

    Axis
    Germany=Mewtwo
    Japan=Rayquaza

    Allies
    Russia=Articuno
    Britian=Zapdos
    United States=Lugia
    Poland=Mew
    Canada=Suicune (I was thinking that one beaver pokemon but hey they did play an important role)

    No. Not everybody gets a legendary. That is dumb. Sorry. It is. Mew-Two as NAzi super science = OK. Poland just hapening to have a Mew... no. What are the odds that veritable forces of nature would evenly spread out between countries (borders made up by man... etc.)

    Also, Japan invaded China in 1937. They were already at a stalemate. China statlemated Japan. Thier attack on Pearl Harbor and the earlier moves into Southeast Asia were acts of desperation. Pearl Harbor was a desperate gambit that didnt pay off as greatly as they hoped.

    No way. Certain varieties of pokemon would live only in certain environments. Herds of Tauros would not roam jungles, they would be from plains or maybe steppes. Likewise Tangela would not be hanging in the desert. As I stated in the last thread, area matters, at least to some degree, as to what nations can effectively use en mas.

    And yeah, it's stupid that every country has a Legendary Pokemon. It's like giving each country a nuke and saying "Okay! Have a war, you crazy kids!" Given the alt-timeline we seem to be working on here, it's probably fine to include them on the flags of the associated countries - so the German flag at the time, instead of having a black eagle on it, would have a black Fearow or Ho-Oh or something.

    Mew shouldn't be anywhere near WWII and Mewtwo was born from genetics that would be too young for WWII.

    Anyway after the war ends and the bombs are dropped(or pokemon, whatever you guys decided), the nations use Japan to celebrate all of the Pokemon who died fighting in the war. They build the "Pokémon Tower" in Lavender Town. They also decide Japan to be the permanent host of the Pokemon League.

    There is ban on Pokemon warfare. Arabs hate Pokemon so they never use them.

    THE CLOSING MONTHS
    So long after V-Europe day, it still seemed like the continuing horrors of war would never end. The Fuhrer's apparent suicide destabilized the country, and with no apparent successor, the war machine crumbled. Most distressing of all to the Allied command were the multitude of reports of interrogated Nazi Scientists and Super Nerds regarding Hitler and Himmler's pet bastard project: Uberpoke. Nobody even knew if the creation of this "Mewtwo" was even possible, and even then, how could they speculate on its combat potential? The twisted Aryans believed their ancestry made them gods, and so they attempted to play God, splicing together some new form of life. Yet a few of the most high-ranking Super Nerds claimed that such a creature had actually been "born." Ridiculous. Besides, should a being of this intelligence ever be created, it would surely comprehend the meaning of the atrocities of war and its purpose of design, and rebel against its creator.

    Meanwhile, the best and brightest of the American scientific community, relocated to a small, top-secret military base, labored on a project that would alter future events even more than the creation of the Pokeball. Since the files are still classified, nobody is quite sure how these scientists managed to split the atom in a matter of months without a single Alakazam on the team. Even Roosevelt was awed when he was told their work could create an explosive with the power of over a trillion KVtbs (KiloVoltorbs). Days after their work was completed, a small plane flew over a Japanese city, and the Pokeball Age turned to the Atomic Age.

America, the birthplace of the assembly line and home to the world's only modern fuel-powered power plants, which while polluting produced much more electrical power than any conventional Electabuzz plant, rested its hopes in the power of modern technology.

    THE STRIKE AT PEARL HARBOR
    When the Japanese, in a desperate bid to destabilize the dormant country, launched a surprise Fearow bombing run on a small naval base, they thought they would prove to the Americans, and the Allies desperately trying to solicit their aid, of the foolishness of ignoring what they considered the single greatest military revolution in the Pokeball Age. With no electric types to defend themselves, the American battleships were obliterated. American fighter planes managed to shoot down a number of the Fearow, but the fabled Japanese "kamikaze" flying types lived up to the legend, and managed to be at least as deadly and destructive in their dying throes.

    THE US ENTERS THE CONFLICT
    When the Americans joined the war the next day, tremendous logistical problems immediately became apparent. The American military, fueled by oil and steel, simply could not coexist alongside the Pokemon-based armies of the United Kingdom. Luckily, Roosevelt and Chruchill had long been anticipating the US's entry in the conflict, and a few subtle preperations had been made.
    American field medics had already been given the classified "Joy" certification program, and had the knowledge of Pokemon physiology needed to keep His Majesty's Pokemon fighting fit. A top secret engineering unit had already retrofitted a small number of American tanks to fire the Voltorb shells that most British artillery used.
    These small steps forward often led to bigger problems - the Voltorbs, for example, would often become nervous in the loud, cramped and dangerous atmosphere of the tank interior and would detonate themselves, killing the entire tank crew. The American military took these setbacks in stride, though, and slowly, progress was made.

    THE GERMAN ASSAULT IS SLOWED
    The Germans still doubted the strength of the American military. How could the Amis, thought many a Nazi officer, possibly think a tank division could defeat even a single Nazi Tyranitar, when the Pokemon was more thickly armored, more maneuverable, and able to break the body of the tank in half. Their underestimation proved to be their undoing, as when their psychic-type scryers found evidence of a large strike force, entirely American and nearly entirely human, sailing across the Channel. It's said the Fuhrer himself saw the reports, and simply laughed at the Americans' recklessness. He had reason, too. What kind of fool sends such a large invasion force across the ocean, without so much as a single Lapras escort? It was almost as if the Americans had forgotten the power of the U-Boat Gyarados attacks in the years prior. Hitler tossed the report aside, recommending no more than the token defence that was already in place. He was much more interested in his conquest of Russia, where even the trainers of the legendary Houndoom strike teams were complaining of the bitter cold...

    This thing is a repost from an earlier WW2 with Pokemon thread.

    Private Lynch edged his way through the jungles of.... shit. He couldn't even remember what island he was on now, somewhere in the indochinese region. The Japanese were messing with them badly. Every time his platoon had managed to find them, those damned Nips' Alakazam had teleported them away, leaving them dizzy and disoriented. It had once taken three days to find the rest of the platoon, and no one had seen Lance Corporal Clarke in two weeks.

    It didn't help that the native pokemon in these jungles were almost as dangerous as the native ones back home in Australia. But Kangaskhans, Sevipers, Tentacruels - these he knew and he could deal with. These new ones... he'd never seen a Victreebel before this war, but he'd seen enough here to last him a lifetime. And you learned quickly to keep your ear out for the distinctive buzz of Scyther wings - Private Roy learned the hard way when one whipped past him, taking one of his arms with it.

    The jungle had started opening up a bit now. The platoon could actually move without the lead scouts hacking away with bayonets and their pokemons' Cut technique, and the painfully slow inching between trees had changed to a regular trudge. This didn't stop Private Packer from tripping over roots, vines and wild Tangelas every few hundred metres or so - the soldier in front of Lynch may be his close mate and a hard worker, but buggered if he wasn't the clumsiest bastard in the whole army. The sorry cunt couldn't even use his Cyndaquil to clear it out a little, as the smoke'd give the away a mile off. The amount of times Lynch's Turtwig had used his vines to pick Packer up off the jungle floor before something ate him defied belief.

    Human
    Stat Child (L5) Adult (L12) Trained Adult (L15)
    HP 23 37 44
    A. 15 28 36
    D. 11 20 25
    Spd 14 27 32
    Sp.A. 11 19 23
    Sp.D. 12 20 26

    If a Voltorb at L22, the level it naturally learns self destruct, hits any human directly they are gone. It finishes a soldier and then some.
    If a hand grenade is like a lower level Voltorb using self destruct, say L15, there is a slim chance of the soldier surviving. But, I’d be willing to be he is scarred or lost a limb given the immediacy and nature of the attack.

    With these same stats a Soldier punching a child might end the kid in one hit. But, it takes a minimum of 4 solid “Pound” for a soldier to take out another. And in the games they say they feint, but if it were 4 Pounds to the face, potentially with a crude weapon in hand (iron bar?), that could kill.

    Does this seem about right?

    Using the Soviet Rattata example from earlier: Rattata would Hyper Fang the Kraut to death... if this seems about right then it would take several bits to kill. And, if Bind is strangulation then the Kraut could kill most L14 Rattatas in one-on-one at L14 unless they were perfectly trained.
    This seems more than fair to me considering the little bastards only weigh around 2.5 lbs.

    Organizing pokemon to suit the countries is nice, but you should also consider real-world environments. Don't stick a cold-hating pokemon in the russia army, for example.

    Also, legendary pokemon should not be the requisite BFG. I imagine most of them don't care about human wars, and are out in the wilderness tending their own.

    The only time they'd enter the war is if some idiot tried to move his battalion through their territory. Of course, the various militaries would be hell-bent on finding and capturing them once the war started, assuming they believed in these near-mythical creatures at all.

    FUCK YES. THESE ARE THE BEST THREADS EVER. I even got a bump in my own name.

    I said a few things in the earlier threads, and my stance still stands. Now the question is how we get this all in a /tg/ related setting? What system would this be in? 3.5? D20 Modern? These questions have already possibly been answered, but I'm going to go through the past two threads. I only get on sporadically.

    I remember exactly where I was on that day. I was in the office building's cafeteria, eating lunch. Some of my coworkers and I were talking about something stupid, probably the latest sports news. Football, Pokebattles, baseball, whatever. Wait...now I remember. Yeah, it was battles. This was back when Lance was under investigation for doping his Pokemon. You know, giving them more Carbos and Iron than the regulations allowed. You probably remember why that story fell under the radar.

    Anyway, suddenly someone ran into the room shouting about something. I wasn't paying attention to what they were saying, I probably thought it wasn't anything important. I did notice most other people took notice, and eventually there was a scrambling to change the channel on the TV. They switched it to CNN, turned the volume up real loud. I eventually wondered what the hell was going on, and glanced up at the TV to check.

    I must have been looking at that TV, unblinking, for over an hour but I still couldn't believe it. They suspected the sons of bitches had smuggled battle-level Pokemon past security, concealing them on their bodies before sending them out and taking over the cockpit. But it was the footage of Ground Zero that really ate at you. Firemen and rescue worker Machokes digging through the rubble, uncovering mountains of bodies. "Joy" Nurses and Chanseys running among the wounded, who took up entire school cafeterias. I'll never forget the image of one little girl, sobbing uncontrollably, holding her baby Charmander to her chest and trying to reignite its tail with a fucking lighter.

    "Fuck," one of my friends muttured under their breath. I snapped out of my trance. I looked around. Most of the people there were in a similar state to my own, watching unblinkingly, mouths agape but seemingly unable to believe their eyes. The Pokemon who could understand what was going on, the evolved ones and the psychic types, were in a similar state. I hadn't ever understood just what kind of emotions a Pokemon was capable of until that day. The sorrow in their eyes, the inflections in their voices as they muttered their names under their breaths. The less-sentient Pokemon still realized that something terrible had happened, and tried to comfort their masters. There was this one woman, Julia, who worked in my department. She had collapsed onto the floor, sobbing like a baby. I learned later that she had family that died in the towers. Her Eevee, Mittens, was nuzzling her, calling at her, trying dozens of things to improve her mood until it just gave up and curled up into her arms.

    They stopped the newsreel soon after that, and the newsreader said that a tape claiming responsibility had just aired on middle eastern television. They cut to it, and I saw the face of a certain man. A face that would soon become familiar to nearly every person and Pokemon in the world. He was still cloaked in shadow, and flanked by both men with assault rifles and the meanest looking Scyther I'd seen in my life. He started speaking in Arabic, and soon a translator cut in.
    "My name is Osama bin-Laden Al-Javanni," the voice over said, as the man stroked his Persian on the screen, "and today Team Rocket claims a great victory in the war against the Great Satan."
    They stopped him after another minute or two. President Gore was about to make his first official statement, and what he said started a new era in American history...
