YOu were sent to work helping out in a garage those people kept in a nondescript warehouse somewhere near the docks. For months you helped out by cleaning the cars and fetching tools for the mechanics. For those months, you and the boss' son grew to be fast friends.
After a particularly great win on his part, he let you behind the wheel of his car and gave you some pointers.
These driving lessons continued for weeks after every race he was in, and soon you grew better and better. You became so good in-fact that it actually got the boss' attention.
One night, while you were helping out prepare for another race, the boss approached you. "Hey, how would you like to drive for us?" he asked you. "You of course jumped at the opportunity and were given a red Lancer to race in. You and the boss' son soon dominated the illegal racing circuit in that prefecture.
It was a great life, one of machinery and victory. But it was not to last.
One day, while you were out on an errand to pickup a shipment of oil for the garage, it all ended. You came back to a burnt warehouse. The cars, and the barracks all aflame. None of the mechanics, drivers, all of your friends were to be found.
When you asked the firefighter on-scene what happened, all he answered was, "Another gang connected arson it seems. Been having a lot of these the past few months."
You walked home that day, with nothing but the keys to the car you drove, and the echoes of its engine in your mind.
