With a splash, you make your way out of the bath, and shave with one of your many daggers, before donning your clothing, armor, and pouches again. By the time you get out, back in the main room of the near-abandoned tavern, Ariana, Cass, and Tannis were already eating lunch. Tannis was wearing proper clothing, instead of the animal furs and rags she'd been wearing, but her unnatural hair and lips still revealed her inhuman nature.
"Hey, Abel." Ariana said. "I got us a map of the Atlask Council, across the sea."
Cass suddenly straightened up when she noticed you were there, and Tannis just ignored you, much more interested on tearing her meat apart with her teeth and hands.
"The map doesn't have any of the village names, though." Ariana said. "I wonder why."
"The villages don't have permenant names." Tannis said, setting aside a bone. "Instead they're named after the villages' lord and the nearest city."
There was a moment of silence.
"How..." Cass asked.
"I was born in Lys." Tannis said, and then moved onto the next bit of meat.
>>
>>21963903
"Good to know, I suppose you want to head there next?"
>>
>>21963903
"How terribly inconvenient"

I know a girl who lives in a country where the names of the streets can be bought out and changed. This led to streets being renamed every half a year or so. They just use landmarks to determine the locations now.

>>21963951
We're not heading anywhere, we promised to help Eldin for his help. Besides, I'm not comfortable going to another continent for no God damn good reason.
>>
>>21963963
I think getting Astora to help out is a bigger success for Eldin than having us around for a bit.
>>
"How terribly inconvenient." You say.
"You get used to it." Tannis responded.
"I suppose you want to head there next?" You ask, and Ariana nodded.
"Well, I figured that if we have to leave in a hurry, we should go somewhere foriegn." Ariana said.
"We did promise to help Eldin, though." Cass added.
"Yeah, I meant as a backup plan." Ariana said.
>>
>>21963998
And that lets us wiggle out of this deal how exactly?
That doesn't matter one bit, we made a deal and now we must stick by it. Besides, do you really think Astora is going to stay here and let her sister sail to another end of the world without going after her to look after her? Astora didn't seem to care about witch society enough to leave here sister in danger.

>>21964007
We should find out how to help Eldin now. We could meet him... or will he come to us?
Anyway, lets see how we can help and repay our debt
>>
>>21964007
"I should probably go talk to him about that after lunch actually."
>>
"I should probably go talk to him about that after lunch, actually." You say, and take a seat, picking at whatever vegetables Tannis hadn't touched yet.
"I'll come with." Ariana said. "We saw him talking to Astora and Garamon's ruler, out near the gates."
"He ignored me." Tannis said, and pouted.
Cass took a breath, as if she were about to say something, but closed her mouth again and went back to eating.

Lunch finished, the four of you packed up and made your way down the to the city gates, near the smouldering remnants of the Order building, where Astora, the merchant lord, and Eldin sat, speaking. After a few moments, the merchant lord nodded, and he and his bodyguards left again, as he bellowed out an order.
"Ariana, Abel." Astora said, nodding to the two of you. Cass quirked her lips.
"Abel's your name, then?" Eldin asked, and chuckled. "Good to know."
"... Wait." Astora said. "You can't see his name?"
"Not at all." Eldin added, and shrugged.
>>
>>21964153
"Thanks for your help, as you might have heard it was really necessary."

"What are your plans now?"
"Is there anything we can help with?"
>>
>>21964153
"Aren't I mysterious?"

"Anyway, Eldin, we made a deal, what do you want me to help out with?"
>>
>>21964153
"Strange, isn't it? Anyways, thank you for lending us Tannis, Eldin. She's been helpful. We still couldn't handle that werewolf without Astora, though. As promised we'll help you out wherever we can."
>>
"Strange, isn't it?" You ask. "Anyways, thank you for lending us Tannis, Eldin. She's been helpful."
"Good to hear." He said, and patted Tannis' head. She went bright red, and squinted her eyes, smiling widely- and you can swear you hear her purr. "If you want to keep her, go ahead and keep her."
"We still couldn't handle that were wolf without Astora, though. As promised, we'll help you out wherever we can. What do you want me to help out with?"
"Well, we do need a good, capable messenger to go to Amberway and tell the maenads there that things were successful in Garamon." Eldin said. "I was planning to send a few huntresses out, but they're not good with people."
"Why not send your familiar?" Ariana asked.
"I can't send my familiar because that's too far for the Gift of Names to carry over." He responded. "And we can't send yours, Tori, because we need yours here in case the order arrives."
"Hm, fair enough." Astora said.
"Why is your Gift of Names needed for your familiar?" Ariana asked.
"... Because I can't recognize people without it." Eldin added. "Not by name or voice. I might end up delivering the wrong message to someone."
>>
>>21964276
>might end up delivering the message to the wrong person, even.
>Whee, grammar checking!
>>
>>21964276
"So, travel to Amberway and deliver a message? That sounds easy enough, who do you want me to give it to?"

"Tori?"
>>
>>21964276
"Tori? Do you too know each other? Well anyways, i guess we could do that. We're certainly looking more normal than the maenads. Ariana, do you want stay here with your sister?" Look to Astora "I suppose you will stay here, won't you? You'll be needed."
>>
>>21964276
"I think we can manage that, if you girls don't have any objections."
>>
"... Tori? Do you two know eachother?"
"Long story." Astora said.
Ariana's eyebrows shot up, and she quickly looked from 'Tori' and Eldin, frowning.
"Well, anyways, I guess we could do that, if you girls don't have any objections."
"I want to help." Cass said.
"I'm not objecting."
"Well..." Ariana said.
"Ariana, do you want to stay here with your sister?"
Ariana nodded, silently, and you turn to Astora. "I suppose you will stay here, won't you? You'll be needed."
"My familiar is what's truly needed here." Astora said. "It hardly matters where my body is."
>>
>>21964418
If Ariana wants to stay, she should stay
>>
>>21964418
"I'd hate to deprive a valuable defense asset from the city, if you want to stay here that's fine, Astora."
>>
>>21964418
"Well, if anyone -wants- to come to Amberway with me, they're welcome to."
>>
"Well, if anyone *wants* to come to Amberway with me, they're welcome to." You say.
"I'm coming." Cass and Tannis said at the same time, and Cass glared at Tannis, who was still giving Eldin a pleased grin.
"I want to help more." Tannis said. "I might get praised again."
"It'd also be useful because everyone knows you, Tan."
"I'm not accustomed to traveling on foot, but I will leave my familiar here and go to Amberway." Astora said, shrugging.
"I'm glad you're coming with us." Ariana said, deciding on the spot to come with, and grinned. "Make sure you have good boots."
>>
>>21964538
"Excellent! Looks like we're all going on an adventure. Let's get some food for the trip and head out, unless there's anything else any of you need?"
>>
>>21964599
Not really an adventure but more a delivery mission.
Not sure why we need so many people to do it
>>
>>21964635
Because ADVENTURE!
>>
>>21964538
"So, looks like we've decided who's coming. What's the message, Eldin?"
>>
"Excellent!" You say. "It looks like we're all going on an adventure."
Astora rolled her eyes.
"Let's get some food for the trip and head out. Unless there's anything else any of you need?"
"I have my spear, so I'm set." Cass said. "I just need to not let things get too close."
"I'll need to purchase a few things." Astora said, and walked away, Ariana trailing behind her.
"So, it looks like we've decided who's coming." You say. "What's the message, Eldin?"
"The message is rather simple." Eldin said. "You need to find Anakata, and tell her that the mission in Garamon went properly, and in about two weeks, I'll be moving on to amberway. After that, make certain that she's acquired the supplies I requested."
"Anakata?" Tannis asked, taking a step back. "But she isn't very nice."
"Which is why you're going with." Eldin said. "Make sure she listens to the message, and make sure she knows it's from me."
"... Okay." Tannis said, and nodded. "But why will she listen to me?"
"Everyone knows you." Eldin said. "You'll be fine."
"Okay." She said again.
"I think that's it." Eldin said, meeting your eyes again. "Unless you have any other questions."
>>
>>21964746
"Alright, thanks Eldin."

"I'm going to go buy some rations for the trip, want to come with, Cass?"
>>
"Alright, thanks, Eldin."
"Good luck." Eldin said.

"I'm going to go buy some rations for the trip. Want to come with, Cass?"
"Might as well." Cass said. "I've been feeling a bit better about being in crowds, because the way Ariana and Tannis dragged me about, today."

As you walk away from Eldin, you notice him start speaking to Tannis about wearing 'actual clothing'.

The two of you walk through Garamon, going down another street with several breadmakers, as well as some with traveling supplies, and, once again, you see that familiar blacksmith.
"... I wish I was faster." Cass said, quietly. "With the werewolf."
>>
>>21964746
"We need more rations because more travellers and adventuring! Do you have waterskins? Proper boots? I'm not sure I can carry you like I carry Ariana, Tori."
>>
>>21964902
"It worked out in the end, don't worry about it too much. I'm just glad that everyone made it out alright."
>>
>>21964902
"Hey, don't beat yourself up about it. He was a tough opponent, I hit him with at least four arrows and it didn't slow him down at all."
>>
>>21964902
Go over to the blacksmith.

"Hello again. What deals do you have today?"
>>
"Hey, don't beat yourself up about it." You say. "He was a tough opponent. I hit him with at least four arrows and it didn't slow him down at all."
"And Astora killed him effortlessly." Cass said. "I need to get better."
"It worked out in the end, don't worry about it too much." You say. "I'm just glad that everyone made it out alright."
"Yeah, you're right." Cass said, as the two of you made your way to the blacksmith.
"Hello again. What deals do you have today?"
"Well, I have some silver-tipped and cold iron tipped arrows cheap today. They aren't selling nearly as well as they normally do, so I have too many. Two copper an arrow."
You quickly count out your copper coins only to find that you had hardly any.
"... If you want, I could take some of your silver and give you some copper back." The blacksmith added, and shrugged.
>>
>>21965069
"Hmm. Nothing this time I think, but as always I'm sure we'll see each other again."

Let's see if we can find some travel rations for cheap.

Are our current arrows just pure wood? Do you think we could soak them in the Aqua Sanctis oil for extra damage vs magical creatures?
>>
>>21965069
Hehe, one should buy while the prices are cheap. I'd like to have 5 of each. I'm paying in silver.
>>
>>21965110
I think it would be a good idea to have some arrows against any kind of supernatural creature. Abel is just a average mortal (kinda), he needs every edge he can get. In case Gabriel or anyone else makes a racket again.
>>
>>21965154
Agreed. We're not planning to go hunting or anything, but experience has taught us that we need to be prepared. Plus, that Fairy's friends might not take too well to her being killed. 5-10 of each?
>>
"One should buy while the prices are cheap." You say. "I'd like to have five of each. I'll pay in silver."
"Oh, fair enough." He responded. "That'll be a silver. And, well, I'll give you ten copper back."
>Current Currency: 2 gold, 2 silver, 14 copper
After the exchange, Cass leaned up next to you.
"Hey, Abel, do you really want to lug that claymore and helmet around?" Cass asked. "Why not sell them?"
>>
>>21965203
Yeah, that sounds good. I would also buy some rosemary if we could keep it in an airtight container somehow. One never knows.

Btw. i am

>>21965128
>>21965154

Just in case people wonder about how many votes there are for what.
>>
>>21965229
"Good point, how much could I get for these two, shopkeeper?"
>>
>>21965229
"I can not BELIEVE I forgot about those."
Let's see if the Blacksmith is willing to buy them. Even if just for scrap value.
>>
>>21965229
You wouldn't happen to have something i can store rosemary in without it shutting down every witch around me? I figure now that this city is in supernatural hands something like that could come in useful.
>>
>>21965229
see if he has like tinder/torch/ flammable head arrows
and an bulk blunted or otherwise lets get some target practice in i mean were good but things seam to be going form bad to worse lets keep our edge
>>
>>21965283
Forget "now that the city is in supernatural hands." Try "the way my luck has been running."
>>
"Good point." You say, and draw the claymore off of your back, and pick up the helmet from your hip. "How much could I get for these two, shopkeeper?"
"Well, this isn't a shop, and I'm not keeping it." He said, and chuckled, before examining the blade. "But this is my work, from several years ago. It's been well cared for."
He tilted his head, and inspected them some more, then turned to you. "Normally a full set of the armor is worth a gold, and the blade, five silver... but since they're used and the armor is incomplete, I will purchase them for five silver coins."
"You wouldn't happen to have something I can store rosemary in without it shutting down every witch around me?" You ask. "I figure, the way my luck has been running, something like that could come in handy."
"That's a good point." He said. "I do have a few empty potion bottles I can stuff a it into, and it's airtight. A silver for an entire bottle of rosemary."
"And do you have any flammable arrows?"
"None, sorry." He said. "They seem like kind of a waste. All that fletching for something you can't re-use."
>>
>>21965350
Do the trade.

"So, what town are you heading to next?"
>>
>>21965374
this
Guys, if you agree with the first post, say "this" so Exabyte isn't waiting for other posts that aren't coming.
>>
>>21965350
"Sounds like more than a fair deal to me."

>>21965420
He has a set time between posts, mate.
>>
"Sounds like more than a fair deal to me."
You nod, and make the exchange, selling the sword, helmet, and purchasing the rosemary.
"So, what town are you heading to next?"
"In a few weeks, I'm heading to Amberway." He said, and chuckled. "Maybe I'll meet you there."

You quickly recount your rations, and re-estimate it to account for Astora and Tannis, figuring out that you have maybe enough food for six days maybe a week, if you don't hunt at all.
"... I'm tempted to see how Astora reacts to rosemary." Cass said, grinning as you put the jerky away.
>>
>>21965517
"I'm sure it would be funny as anything, but she'd probably fry me once she recovered."
>>
>>21965493
I think it's longer if there's only 1 post rather than a consensus.

Astora's the older sister, bro.
>>
>>21965596
That was Ariana. Astora is her older, ill-tempered sister.
>>
>>21965596
Astora, not Ariana.
>>
>It gets a bit harder for me when it's only one post, because I have to wait to make certain that's what consensus is on. Almost as difficult as tie votes, for mostly the same reason.

"I'm sure it would be funny as anything, but she'd probably fry me once she recovered." You say. "So let's not, unless there is a really good reason."
"Well, that's no fun." Cass said, as you make your way into the next shop- this one with traveling supplies, rations, lanterns, and rope. You see Astora and Ariana already in there, getting leather boots as well as a traveling cloak for Astora, as the shopkeeper started pulling out bags, pouches, satchels, and belts of all kinds.
"... And all of these are fireproof?" Astora asked.
"Erm, yes ma'am. At least, it won't catch fire. It may melt, though..." The shopkeeper said.
"Good enough." She said, and tossed out out a small pouch to the shopkeeper, and started putting it all on.
"Abel!" Ariana said, grinning as she noticed you. Astora didn't grin.

>>
>>21965686
"Hey, Ariana. Get everything you need?"

Also, an extra week's worth of rations is probably a good idea, as is a lantern (we're not going to be travelling with Astora forever, and her burning hand might be a tad suspicious in places to use as a lantern) and some more blankets.
>>
"Hey." You say. "Did you get everything you need?"
"I did." Astora said. "Thank you for your concern."
"You shouldn't be so cold." Ariana said, and frowned. "Smile at him. Smile."
You turn to the shopkeeper, and with a bit of thought and approximation, you ask for another week's worth of food, writing out the figures in your chickenscratch. After a moment's thought, you also pick a lantern, some oil, and small first aid kit.
"For that much..."
"Smiiiillleeee. Like this!" Ariana said, and gave her sister the biggest grin ever borne by a young girl.
Astora snorted, and ruffled Ari's hair.
The shopkeeper cleared his throat, trying not to get distracted.
"Three silver." He said.

"Two and fourteen copper?" You ask. "We're likely to pass through teegate as it is, so we might as well buy it from the source if you can't go any lower."
"... You have a good point, sir." The shopkeeper said, as you give him two silver and the last of your copper coins. In trade, you get the lantern, some oil, another week of rations, and a small first aid kit.
"... You done?" Astora asked, and you nod, stowing away the equipment in your many pouches and pockets. "Glad to hear it. When do we set out?"

"Aren't you not meant to travel with Ariana?" You ask. "I know we're in a warzone currently, but does it extend all the way to Amberway?"
She shrugged. "Well, since we're getting into the middle of things between Eldin and the Order, then whatever we do probably counts. And if not, well, what the Crones don't know won't hurt them."
She gave you a small smile, but Ari's frown stopped her.
"You can't say that! What if they're listening?"
"They're not." Astora said. "You're so paranoid, kiddo."
You shrug. "Unless you have any objections, I'd say we should set out now."
"Fair enough." She said.

The four of you left the shop, and went back up the street to the gates, where Tannis was sleeping again, in cat form, and Eldin was nowhere to be found. With no ceremony, Cass slung her up into her arms.
"Ready." Cass said. "Map?"
Ariana unfurled the map, pointing to Amberway.
"It doesn't look far from here." She said.
>>
Only a swamp and two rivers. I hope you've got you ghoul defences set.

"Looks like we're heading through the swamps again. Is Kefford a witch friendly town?"

Found it, man. I knew I was missing something.
>>
"Looks like we're heading through the swamps again. And two rivers." You say. "Is Kefford a witch friendly town?"
Astora shrugged.
"I can use my Gift of Sight to keep my hand hidden." She said. "Just as long as nobody tries touching it, at least."
"We could take a boat along the coast, couldn't we?" Ariana asked.
"It's not likely there will be one setting out right now." Astora responded.
"... Good point." Ari said.
>>
>>21966579
Grab her hand.

"I'm not sure we could afford a boat."
>>
>>21966592
Don't grab her hand, thats stupid.

"Hm, i'm not sure if having someone with a burning hand on board of a wooden ship is a good idea. Let's do this the old fashioned way."
>>
>>21966579
"A boat would seem a little excessive just to get to Amberway."

Let's get walking.
>>
"I'm not sure we could afford a boat." You say. "And it seems a little excessive."
"Yeah, but it'd be less walking!" Ariana said brightly.
"You should learn to like walking." Cass said. "It builds character."
"I have plenty of character already." Ariana said, and then the five of you set off.

Only an hour later, though, after leaving the city gates and going back into the fields of grass and sparse trees, you felt... strange. As if the world was fake- like it was all a play, as if it were a dream or a story... and the moment passed.
"Are you okay?" Cass asked, worried, looking back at you. Apparently you'd stopped walking.
>>
>>21966709
"This again? If you happen to notice an absence of handsome men nearby, I've dissapeared again."
>>
>>21966709
"I...don't know. You can still see me, right?"

>>
>>21966709
We're going to achieve CHIM, I can feel it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. It's going to happen though.

"I don't know, I just felt like I wasn't me. Like my actions were decided upon by some... largely benevolent collective."
>>
>>21966758
A largely benevolent if rather lewd collective*

"Hello Abel! You've broken the 4th wall!"
>>
"This again?" You ask, and everyone- save Astora- looked back. "... You can still see me, right?"
"Yes, you're right there." Cass said.
"... Let's just move on." Astora said. "No need dallying like this."
"I can see you fine." Ari said, poking you. "You're very there. Are you feeling okay, Abel?"
>>
>>21966758
The truth split my skull open, a glaring blue light washing the lies away. All of my past was just fragmented blocks of text, words hanging on the blue background like cinderblocks. I was in a quest thread. Funny as Hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.
>>
>>21966815
Sometimes i get this feeling... Like the world is fake. Meaningless. Just a stageplay, a story to entertain children... And afterwards i wonder....
>>
>>21966815
"About as fine as ever, I guess."

Maybe instead of trying to make ourselves not exists and fall out of the world, we should try to make the world not exist.
>>
>>21966815
"Yea...fine, just thinking back to that dream, I guess."
>>
"Sometimes I get this feeling..." You say, but you can't continue- something stops you. Instead, you just shake your head, and continue walking. "About as fine as ever, I guess." Behind you, Cass and Ari meet eyes for a moment, worried, but then the group continues.

The sun was setting when you finally laid eyes on Kefford. A large village on the coast, with the beach in easy reach, and a small dock. There was only a single tavern in town, the Ticklish Cod, and a single general store. Nobody went out of their way to greet you, but a rather scrawny, badly bruised woman gave your group a nervous glance, her eyes lingering far too long on Astora's hand, despite the way it was hidden with her Gift.
"Should we just get some sleep, or move on and camp later?" Cass asked, as Tannis in her arms yawned and stretched, digging her claws into Cass's arm. The changeling didn't seem to notice.

"Let's keep moving, the quicker we get to Amberway the quicker we're finished. Sleeping under the stars is quite nice as well."

"Let's keep moving." You say. "The quicker we get to Amberway, the quicker we're finished. Sleeping under the stars is quite nice as well."
"I agree." Cass said. "Sure, we might have to stop in the swamp, but I don't think we have the money to stay at a tavern."
The group started to move on, but the scrawny woman stepped in your way.
"W-wait, please." She said. "Can you... can you help me? You're witches, a-aren't you?"
"Witches? That's a silly thing to call us. We're just travelers." Astora said, rolling her eyes. "Magic is evil, you know."

"We're just travelers, as my friend said, but I suppose we could attempt to help."
"He... He..." She said, and glanced back toward one of the buildings. She lowered her voice and hissed. "He has my skin."
You look over to the house, and see a fisherman in a straw hat, his pole on his shoulder, walk toward the house. He turned to the woman.
"Love, don't bother the travelers." He said, giving her a smile. "Come here, will you?"
She gave him a fake smile, and walked toward him. At the last moment before they entered the building, she shot you a desperate glance.

"What. Astora, does that sound like something witches or wizards can do? Because this is what happened the first time you killed Gabriel."
>>
>>21967321
"Do you think she's talking about that thing Gabriel can do, sword?"
>>
"... So, uh, this something you witches are familiar with?" You ask. "Is that one of those mythological beings... sea women or something?"
"It sounds kind of familiar, but I can't think of anything." Ariana said, as Astora shook her head.
"Does that sound like something wizards or witches can do?"
"I don't think so." Astora said. "I've never heard of anything like that."
"Do you think she's talking about the thing Gabriel can do, sword?"
The sword, silent as usual, didn't respond.
"Well." Tannis said, standing on her hind legs- she hadn't spoken as a cat until now, but she sounded as she usually did when human. "We could solve this just by poking at him with our claws until he talks."
>>
>>21967439
"Yeah, to be honest, that doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I don't really want to go around smashing down people's doors and then clawing at them. It'd give us a bad reputation and all that."
>>
>>21967439
"Nothing about skin stealing in the mythology book?"

"We should at least talk to him. His lady did sound quite distressed."
Whisper to Astora: "She was looking at your hand."
>>
>>21967439
"That sounds a bit...extreme, Tannis. Let's save that for in case we can't find anything out without threatening him."

Side note: the myth that comes to mind is Selkies; they can't change back into their seal forms without their sealskins, and stealing their skins was a common way of keeping a selkie bride.
>>
>>21967439
"Might be worth investigating, she looked straight through your hand illusion, Astora."

Investigate houce
>>
"Nothing about skin stealing in the folklore book?" You ask.
"Well, I think..." Ariana said, pulling it open. "There was a tale of a mermaid peeling off the skin on her lower half to become fully human..."
"We should at least talk to him." You say. "His lady did sound quite distressed, and she did look straight through your hand illusion, Astora."
"Yes, let's." She said, clenching that hand tightly. You hear a scratch, and a strange sound that sounded like stone crunching against stone as she did so.

The two of you make your way closer, and you suddenly have a rather bad feeling about things. The girl and man were kissing from the window, and without further ado, Astora knocked on the door.
The woman opened the door.
"I'm sorry," She said, in a weak voice. She sounded very, very tired. "I didn't mean to be a bother. Please, come in."

Look around for anything out of the ordinary
>>
The five of you stepped into the house, looking this way and that, and the fisherman took off his hat. You look this way and that, and other than a lantern and some strange burlap pouches surrounding the inside of the cabin, almost like charms, there was nothing out of the ordinary. A fish mounted on the wall, even, which you didn't know people really did.
"Ah, guests." The man said. He had a large bald spot, but his eyes were young, and the same shade of bright blue as your own, his age questionable. He leaned back and set down his pipe, next to a strangely familiar shaped chunk of metal, and a few fishhooks. "My name's Argent, and this is my wife, Scylla. Welcome to our humble abode."
"Hello. I'm Cass, and then this is Astora, Ariana, and Abel." Cassandra said, and held up the cat. "And this is Tannis."
"Aw, Tannis is so cute." The woman said, and held out her hands. "Can I see her?"
"... Do you smell something?" Ariana asked.
>>
>>21967750
"Besides fish? No. Speaking of fish you wouldn't happen to have anything smoked and ready to sell, would you?"

I figure if we can get him to leave the room we can snoop around.
>>

inhale deeply try and catch the sent
>>
>>21967750
"Pleased to make your acquaintance, Argent. We're travelling through to Amberway and were wondering if you knew any safe places to cross the two rivers in the swamp?"

"Huh? What does it smell like?"
>>
You sniff, but you don't smell anything other than the all-pervasive scent of fish. "Besides fish? No." You say. "Speaking of fish, you wouldn't happen to have anything smoked and ready to sell, would you?"
He chuckled.
"I would!" He said, getting to his feet. He grabbed his pipe and the strange metal object, sticking the former in his mouth and the latter in his pocket, and then nodded. "I'll be right back, and then we can negotiate."
Argent left the room, and Scylla gave you another glance, and opened her mouth to say something... but closed it again.
Without speaking about it, or without consensus, the five of you instantly split up, snooping into every drawer, and under every table you could find. You didn't find anything out of the ordinary, though- just more hooks, a few bits of silver jewelry, and a flask of alcohol.
Astora examined one of the strange burlap bag charms, and then wrinkled her nose, sniffing at it.
"... This is the smell. It's really horrible." She said, her voice filled with revulsion as her hand shimmered into a demon's claw, dark red stone for skin. Ariana and Cass both recoiled. "But it's making me feel all ... floaty."
"Rosemary!" Ariana hissed, and you suddenly had a worse feeling. "Get away from it."
"But..." Astora said.
"Focus!" The little girl said, and Astora put it back, stepping away.
"Allright, allright. No need to yell..."
>>

Rosemary is witch narcotics? Good to know.

"So there's a bit of Rosemary, doesn't mean anything out of the ordinary just yet does it?"

>>
"So there's a bit of rosemary." You say. "That doesn't mean anything out of the ordinary just yet, does it? Someone keep a lookout for when he's coming back."
"I will." Ariana said. "Keep an eye on my sister."
She suddenly fell through the ground, soaking through the shadow, and vanished.
"Ari, where'd you go?" Astora asked, dazed.
"What did you mean by what you said earlier?" You ask the woman.
"I... I was visiting the village, and he... he found my skin, and... took it and hid it. He said I would have to help him steal something. But I don't care about whatever sword he wants, I just want to go home."
"... Sword?" Cass asked, and raised her spear.
Ariana poured out of the floor again.
"He's coming!" Ari said.
"... Who's coming?" Astora asked, blinking. Tannis suddenly burst into her half-maenad form, claws bared.

>>

>>21968059
Punch the selkie out, we can be nice to her later but we can't trust her at the moment.

"Astora, get outside."
>>
>>21968108
Let's not punch her out. Not putting our back to her or letting her get too close is a good idea though.
>>
>>21968059
"Gabriel! I am bored now."
>>
>>21968059
"Oh fucking hell lets just kill him.
>>
>>21968059
"Ugh, you know what? When he comes in, light him on fire, Astora."
>>
"Astora, get outside." You say.
"O... okay." She said, and started toward the front door.

The door to the other room opened again, and Argent was standing there, the hunk of metal in his hand, a strange cylinder hanging off of a latch on the side.
"Sorry, I'm afraid I'm all out of smoked fish." He said.
He twisted his wrist, slinging the cylinder back into the object, and suddenly a spark of eerie recognition burst into your brain, and- Matebamodel6unicaautorevolverwithafiveinchbarrelchamberingathreefiftysevenroundandacustomgrip- and your head pounded, badly. You weren't quite sure what had just happened, but you are sure of one thing. Whatever he pointed that weapon at would die. No question about it.
"So!" He said pleasantly. "Abel, sword please."

Something... snapped back, and you could recognize him.

Gabriel was standing in front of you, in Argent's form, holding a weapon that felt... wrong. Twisted. Like it didn't belong here.
And your head pounded.
"Or, say... the changeling gets it. Or the shapeshifter. I haven't decided yet. I'm done playing around. I've waited long enough."

<Ares, I demand an explanation!> The second voice *roared*.
<I- I don't- I don't-> The first voice said, frozen.
"Want the sword?" You ask.
"... Yes, yes I do." He responded, and you whip it at him.
The sword tore through the air, and caught itself in his torso, sliding through his ribs.
He coughed, weakly.
"Damnit, Abel." He said, and brought the other end of the weapon up to you, pulling the trigger. The revolver's double action trigger pulled the hammer back, and it clicked, before the world shuddered with the force of the sound, louder than anything you've ever heard. The round whistled by your ear, missing you by inches, and he gripped the hilt of the blade.
Gabriel started laughing, wheezing.
"... Giving it to me like this... doesn't count." He said, though you could hardly hear it over the ringing. falling to his knees. He pulled the trigger again, wobbling, and the sound cracked through the cabin again.
"You know, Gabriel, you're really going to have to tell me how you keep pulling all this shit."
He looked up to you.
"... You had the dream too, didn't you?" He asked. "You should know, forty-two over one."
He grinned, blood leaking from his mouth.
"We're angels, stuck here in our own little world, playing pretend."

The world twisted, and the revolver decompiled, vanishing from existence. Argent's body lay dead on the ground, skewered by your sword, his brown eyes still wide.

We should just keep doing this and try to break the rules of the fantasy world. At every opportunity present every-so-slightly impossible things like manifesting warlock powers or shape-shifting. Or just metagame the fuck out of everything and invent modern-day items.

Fuck, with the fire-girl's power, we can have clean energy!
