>7:40 P.M. December 15th, 2186 CE.
It is forty-eight hours after the Battle for Earth, and the battle in space has finally gone silent. The Crucible, having apparently self-destructed and taking the docked Citadel with it, was seen as a colossal failure. Instead, by some obscure means, its destruction and the apparent loss of Commander Shepard resulted in a loss of cohesion by the Reaper forces.

With the majority of their forces having concentrated in the Sol system, it seems that the war has finally reached the turning point, though by no means over with. Heavy losses have been incurred, but it seems that the war has reached a turning point. The galaxy is not safe by a long shot, but at the very least, victory can be claimed for Earth. However, the land war is yet to be over with, though space superiority makes that inevitable.

For now, though, your plight is much more localized. Having undertaken a personal mission to investigate one of the Alliance headquarters in North America, the building having been cleaved almost in twain by a crashing Reaper's remains, you have obtained the elevator codes required to get to the fortified basement, where the military-grade administrative VI therein is supposed to contain information on an abandoned armory facility, as well as other potential facts of value.
>>
Currently, you're located on a bridge leading to the main elevator shaft, the only one leading to the basement. The bridge, situated on the second floor of a large lobby, is strewn with bodyparts from your recent (biotic) duel against a Banshee. Your allies, Liselle and Michael, are currently a short distance away, fighting off a quartet of husks that attacked them while you were fighting the Banshee. Well, originally more than a full score, but having been thinned to only four at this point.

And with some liberal applications of Avenger precision fire and a single thermal clip of ammunition, that four becomes none. Michael speaks up as Liselle seems to slowly calm her nerves, the woman shaking violently as she ejects the thermal clip from her Carnifex. The Geth simply reloads its own sidearm.

"This unit appreciates your assistance. Do you wish further assistance?"

At least it seems like you killed all the Reaper troops in here. Small mercies, considering the state of the planet.

>Stat info next
>>
The "Hero" (You), Urdnot Urah:
>Krogan: Standing over seven feet tall and weighing almost one ton in full armor, you're an impressive example of natural selection, your body possessing redundant organs and a thick hide virtually impervious to cuts, scrapes or contusions. You are highly resistant to environmental hazards, including toxins, radiation, and extreme heat and cold. However, Krogan culture is fiercely tribal.
Specialization(s):
>Krogan Battlemaster: A mixture of biotic and raw combat ability. Wielding an assault rifle, shotgun, pistol, and an array of brute-force biotic abilities to shield yourself and rip your foes asunder, you are a true master of battle. Your talents are limited only by your reserves of energy and your ammunition supply.

Perks:
>BONUS PERK: Companion (Geth Infiltrator): Having proven your worth by virtue of service, you have been awarded... Well, an unnamed Geth. He is essentially subservient to you, with you as his superior. There's also the fact that he's very newly created and requires experience. His consensus has been to "Integrate into a beneficial relationship, providing services of aid for experiences acquired."
>Biotic God: Your biotic abilities are without equal, at least among your peers. You have found yourself shielded against direct heavy weapons fire, and doors are merely paper for you to barrel through.
>Connections (Illegal): You have a number of connections, particularly illegal. You have friends with the Blue Suns and other outfits. You can call in favors. Be that with C-SEC erasing records or in getting a shuttle ride somewhere fast.
>>
>Additional Companions:
>Liselle (Asari Adept Rookie): You rescued her from the armory, holed up in there hiding from a group of Reaper troops. She's clearly shellshocked after being separated from her squad, but listens to your orders without question for now, if requiring a bit of encouragement to keep her sanity after losing her Huntress instructor (which you probably just killed in Banshee form via three different ways of exploding).

>Equipment:
>1x M-8 Avenger assault rifle with six thermal clips
>1x M-22 Eviscerator shotgun with five thermal clips
>1x Revenant with three thermal clips remaining
>5x Fragmentation Grenades
>5x Medi-Gel doses
>>
Finish off husks.

Then look for loot
>>
Ask Geth platform's designation
>>
>>22184905
The remaining husks having been slain by your precision Avenger assault rifle fire, plus the handiwork of Liselle and Michael, you quickly regroup with them.

In terms of loot, there seems to be a fair concentration on the lobby floor. You could likely look the registers for cred chips, but it's likely going to take about an hour or so, by which point you'll be dealing with nighttime.

On the other hand, with how quickly the Reaper troops moved in and by the passage of a Reaper through this very building, you might find something particularly useful or valuable in the process. Your call.

>>22184870
Michael speaks up, the Geth Infiltrator tilting its head as it reiterates its designation. "This unit's designation was Platform Three Five One One Alpha Six Zero Alpha Sigma prior to your redesignaton of 'Michael'. This unit is prepared to assist however it may."
>>
>>22184961
I say we have Michael and Liselle try to find loot while we go down to the VI.
>>
>>22185044
You relay your orders to Liselle and Michael from afar, breathing a bit heavily still as you recover from the mixture of biotic and physical exertion.

"I'm heading down to collect the VI myself." You say, "You two loot what you can from up here. Safe to say there's no more Reapers up in this building. If you find anything, try to send a message." You tell them. They both confirm your order as you walk towards the elevator. The front door to the lift's entrance is covered by a powerful kinetic barrier, clearly one that has proven resilient to the efforts of the husks and Banshee. Instead of trying to brute force it, you walk over to the keypad, swiping your omni-tool over it. There's a brief hum as the code is registered, before the kinetic barriers abruptly drop away.

The twin steel doors slide back, and you note that the doors are about ten feet thick. A not-so-small figure of credits pops into your head at just how much this VI must be worth to warrant that kind of security.

Turning about in the elevator, you reload your Revenant, having picked it up off the floor on your way to the elevator.

Almost eerily smooth music begins to play as the emotionless, pleasant voice of a VI comes over the intercom.

"Several floors are currently unavailable due to INFORMATION UNAVAILABLE. We apologize for the inconvenience. A maintenance technician has been notified to rectify the issue shortly. SECURITY PROTOCOLS ACTIVE. Hello AMBASSADOR KELLY CLARKE."

Every button for the floor above second, which you're currently on, is lit up in red. Besides that, there's only the button for the first floor and "Basement".

Naturally, you push the button for Basement.

"Ambassador Clarke, do you require any assistance today?" The VI's female voice asks, the elevator quickly descending downward. Yeah. Definitely on the right trail.
>>
>>22185252
Ask the VI if it knows if there are any weapon cache or credits in the basement. Go to the VI.

btw
I think it's proably best if you continue the quest another time - considering I'm the pretty much the only guy here
>>
>>22185252
Do we have any orders, do we know of a dropship that can get us out from earth? I don't feel like sticking around here for much longer.
>>
>>22185318
Alas, I think you're quite right in this case. The GM is willing, but /tg/ appears to be enjoying its midday siesta. I'll check in on the thread every few hours to see if new attention is stirred up, however...

"Any weapons or creds down there?" You ask, the VI pausing.

"Voice recognition software... Software...." There's a pause, "Voice recognition software has been deleted to preserve against memory corruption, as per Emergency Hibernation Protocol. New audio imprint created.

Extracting inventory archives. Extracting. Extracting."

You're left watching as the hologram of the elevator slowly descends to the basement. You figure you're at least a mile underground, if not more.

"Inventory indicates that administrative VI core facility has been equipped with Level Three security doors. Core chamber possesses a Level Five security door with kinetic barriers. A full squadron of security mechs is in storage. Warning: Security mech node offline. Warning: Security doors offline. Reason: Emergency Hibernation Protocol."

The elevator begins to slow, "Presence of credits: Unknown. Financial archives may be extracted. Warning: Limited memory available. Non-vital information may be deleted to provide memory for extraction. Proceed?"
>>
>>22185386
You're not particularly bound to any one cause at the moment, but you came here on a rumor that the administrative VI buried beneath the former Alliance HQ knows the whereabouts of an abandoned armory facility. It likely also knows a number of other pieces of information, considering its location and purpose in assisting the Alliance government.

As far as dropships go, you saw an Alliance shuttle crashed outside of the HQ from the conference room window. It's surrounded by dead soldiers, but looks to be intact. You could probably pilot it out of here in a jiff, provided you don't mind a ride with some battle damage.
>>
I'm here. Don't stop
>>
Proceed
>>
>>22185442
Proceed!
>>
i'll be around as well really enjoying this quest
>>
>>22185442
What does the non-vital information contain?
>>
>>22185621
Non vital information.
>>
>>22185633
Which more specifically contains what exactly?
>>
>>22185621
"Non-vital information includes archived email exchanges, clerical records exceeding six months since last access, archives pertaining to non-critical instructions or core file alterations."

>>22185525
>>22185541
"Beginning extraction." The VI hums, and you hear a distant whirr as something comes to life. The elevator lights flicker overhead as the doors part open. The concrete walls and floor of the underground structure look fairly untouched by the ravages of war. The lights overhead are dead, though, and you have to activate your omni-tool's lighting function to provide enough to see by.

"Secondary generators offline. Warning: Emergency batteries at 10% capacity. Maintenance technician requested. Warning: Outside power lines severed. Warning: Outside communication lines unavailable. Continuing with extraction process."

You flash the omni-tool's light over the interior of the place. Seems it hasn't seen any activity in the last year, it almost looks like. You can see several signs posted up:
>CORE ROOM - NORTH
>ELEVATOR - SOUTH
>REACTOR ROOM - EAST
>COMMUNICATIONS CENTER - WEST

Seems straightforward. The VI's voice speaks up, "Financial records 50% extracted. Ambassador: I detect several recent unauthorized additions to my archives within the last year. Authorization not provided. Error: Authorization required. Do you wish to have them deleted?"
>>
>>22185824
Do not delete.
Try to extract that information, and head to the communications center.
>>
>>22185824
"Do not delete them, please. When i reach the data center please transfer them to my [insert Data store here]" Do we have sufficient Data storage to store the "unauthorized additions"?

We should take a look at the Communications Center, there we will probably able to download the data we need.
>>
>>22185846
>>22185861
"Command recognized. Retaining records." The VI states. You pass through the open doorway to the small communications center. Small being a key word: It looks like this whole underground facility was designed for maybe four people, max, in the entire place. You have a bit of a rough time just fitting inside of the unlit communications room.

As far as data is concerned, your omni-tool is only at 10% capacity. Including your personal programs for extranet and other amusements (Including your Fornax magazines). You could probably fit a fair amount more, though your omni-tool is a basic combat model.

The communications center itself is entirely unlit the banks of electronics dead in all but name. Blank screens greet you, evidently powered down to preserve power.

"Unauthorized additions are ready for transfer at appropriate location."
>>
>>22185824
>>22185861
Seems like a plan. Try to get a look at the additions to the archives. Also at the com center try to contact nearby survivors maybe? we can start a stronghold here, especially if we can equip several people from the nearby armory.

Hmm... Hopefully Michael can help out a bit here. Maybe he can even take over the security mechs so we can take them with us?
>>
>>22185967
Partition a small area on our omni-tool for the data, just in case it's corrupted or has some virus or some shit, then upload it. THEN FIND OUT ABOUT CREDITS AND GUNS!
>>
>>22186023
I second this. Its the most important. After weve done this we should take a look at the reactor room, see if we can't return power.
>>
>>22185968
>>22186023
The comm center is unpowered, but you decide to partition the bit on your omni-tool anyways. It's pushing your understanding of technology, but thankfully the combat model is a bit more accustomed to less, ah, "technical-minded" persons operating it. You set up a secure partition all the same.

"I wanna take a look at the comms systems." You mention to the base VI. "Get this place running again."

"Energy reserves are low. According to Emergency Hibernation Protocol, when outside power is disconnected and internal capacitators activated, all non-vital functions to VI core maintenance are deactivated. Do you wish to override the power conservation measures? The communications array will require one percent of existing capacitator energy per hour of usage. Warning: Unauthorized usage of Alliance military communications technology is punishable by summary court martial according to Alliance Military Justice Code."

Another pause, "Direct connection between VI core processing and yourself can be conducted in the VI core chamber or communications array room. Both facilities posses the necessary equipment for high-volume wireless data transfer."
>>
>>22186131
Well we're not actually part of the Alliance military, just a merc looking for coin.

Provide temporary power to the system long enough to transmit the data, then power it back down.
>>
>>22186131
Glorious. Okay, i think we need to take a look at the reactor room. If we can get it running again we can broadcast all we want.
>>
Nice to see you are still going. I went to sleep right after we found the dirty pictures on the computer, and im glad to see i didn't miss the thread.

That said, just head for the communicatios array room. Warn michael we wont be staying more than 6 hours to evoid fighting reapers in a powered out facility in the middle of the night.
>>
As we're looking around try and spy out defensible positions, things that can be made in barricades, as well as escape routes.
Instruct Michael and Blueberry to do the same - we're not planning on staying here but we can use it as a fallback position if we encounter too many reapers.

"Restore temporary power to the communications room, then begin a transfer of the financial records and unauthorized alterations to my omni-tool." You inform the VI.

"Understood. Restoring power. Restoring... Extracting..." The lights in the communication room flicker on slowly, the banks of processors and the large server farm kicking to life. Lights flicker from red to orange to green as the seconds roll by. Thank whatever divine powers there are that military hardware is designed to last long.

Remind Michael and Blueberry to stay in contact via omnitool - 5 minute check in or something.

As far as escape routes go, you're over a mile underground. Escape routes are security weaknesses as much as benefits-- it's unlikely you'll find one.

As far as defensible positions go, there's not that many. Besides the fortified elevator doorway, you could likely use the archways into each hallway for solid cover. Beyond that? It'll end up a close-quarters clusterfuck.

Michael and Blueberry are upstairs, as per your orders to search for something lootable. It will probably be an hour before they report anything, to ensure they did a full sweep. If you want to call them off early, you could do so as well.

This is taking too long. Get the data already.
>>
Hold position whilst the VI does it's thing.

If it gets cranky then call Michael back to talk to it.

Otherwise, finish download then go and join Michael and Blueberry on their search.

Once we've found the loot (if any) we all convene in the Reactor room to see if there is anything that can be done about power levels WITHOUT blowing ourselves up.
>>
>>22186162
>>22186110
You decide to venture over to the reactor room while the download goes underway. Crossing the hallway with your omni-tool humming along, you scan the flashlight along the interior of the chamber.

Seems like the reactor is, indeed, a large Element Zero reactor, compacted into a small room with plenty of tubing, piping, and associated bits and pieces. Not being technical-minded in the fucking -slightest-, it's rather alien to you.

Then again, you could probably wing it. There's a large powered-down console in front of the dead reactor, and a large hatch was built into the center of the reactor itself. Its shape was vaguely like an inverted cone, with several prongs jutting from the flat side of the cone and arcing inwards. You have no idea what the fuck that means, but you assume it's good.

Also, the hatch built into the center of the machine reads, alongside with several warnings about Eezo exposure, "ELEMENT ZERO INDUCTION PORT".

Not that you have any idea what good an induction port does, or how to put the Element Zero in, but hey, it's a start, right? There's even a pair of bulky steel crates stuffed in the corner, the mechanical gauges indicating that each crate was packed tightly (and the stenciling on it reading 'Element Zero'.) Seems that not all hope is lost!

Except for the hope of you having any engineering experience. You could probably wing it, though. (Roll 1d20 if you wish to do so).

In addition, there's a corridor to your right, leading away from the main intersection and seemingly deeper into the little bunker area.
>>
>>22186666
Well, we could try to wing it, or we could wait for Michael to get here. I'm fine either way.

Consensus attained: You decide to leave the reactor alone. Instead, you allow the download to finish, the communications room going silent as you head back up.

Meeting with Michael and Blueberry, you're met with an assortment of credit chits, a quartet of thermal clips, an extra pair of grenades... Oh! Apparently one of the stores was full of biotic amps, too. Civilian, but still good to the right fence. All in all, you've got more or less 10,000 credits in stuff accumulated from the looting spree. Nightfall will be soon coming, though. You've got maybe an hour or two before total blackness settles.

Reconvening down below, Liselle (Blueberry) speaks up, Michael remaining the ever-silent Geth Infiltrator.

"That was the first time I ever killed someone." She says quietly, "I've never even fired in anger before. Whenever I went shooting with the Huntress, I just-- I just fired at holographic targets. Why was there so much blood?" She asked, "When-- That... That was the Huntress. The-- The thing you fought." She stumbled, "I'm certain of it now."

Well, that took her long enough. You figured that shit out in under a minute.

The elevator doors open as you and Michael step out, Liselle tagging behind, blathering on. Your omni-tool seems alright. It hasn't exploded or any crazy shit like that from the data retrieved. On the flipside, you aren't exactly rolling in Asari hookers and blackjack right now.

"Two unidentified persons detected." The bunker's VI intones. "Please identify yourselves, or I will be forced to alert security."

"Virtual Intelligence. Eloquent. Intelligent. High probability of military-grade intelligence software. Likely to make a valuable addition to this platform's collective of programs."

Was Michael making a request? It occurs to you, as well, that something that powerful could probably serve to make you a lot of money on the black market. Six figures at least, to the right buyer.

Nevermind the data you haven't even glanced at yet, and Liselle's blithering isn't really contributing anything at this point.

"Guests recognized, Ambassador Kelly."

Liselle seems to suppress a snerk at that, but doesn't make too loud a noise for fear of inciting your rage.

"Please ensure that all guests are registered with security prior to allowing access to high security areas."

Michael pauses for a moment before speaking, "This unit is not a platform designed for engineering." It replies.

Liselle, surprisingly, speaks up, "I-- I can do it." She offers, standing a bit more upright, "I used to work in a power plant on Thessia. I didn't work with the reactors themselves, but I saw the basics. If this Geth can operate the programming, I should be able to refuel it."

Michael pauses, "This platform, once integrated with the military-grade VI, will receive extensive knowledge in the areas that the VI has been specialized in. If hardware is integrated as well, then an increase in processing power can be expected within this platform. Changes in power consumption will prove negligible."

Which ought to give you more time to explore, recover from the earlier battle, or investigate the data you recovered.

Letting the two get to work in the reactor room, you decide to sit down for the first time in forty-eight hours, looking in all directions to make sure none of them could see you.

When you're sure you're unseen, you let your legs give out, collapsing against the wall with a heavy gasp. You're not used to exerting your biotic powers to that degree. Ripping people in half? Even a biotic god has limits, and in the last forty-eight hours, you've pushed yours. This was the tipping point in more ways than one.

You adjust your omni-tool, staring at it as the VI occasionally interacts with Liselle and Michael in their efforts to repair the reactor.

There's a few major categories in the isolated drive on your omni-tool that the data can be broken down into:
>Unauthorized Alterations to programming
>Financial transactions for Northeast Headquarters
>Spectre funding accounts (You suspect the Council would be mighty pissed if they knew that the Alliance was exchanging funding and information therein with their Spectres).
>Ambassadorial recordings.

Skip the ambassador recordings for now, check out the programming changes to ensure that our new VI friend isn't dangerous.

After that, glance over the finances and make sure to save extra copies of the Spectre data. Good blackmail, and if all else fails, the Shadowbroker would love to buy that shit.

WAIT. Unauthorized alterations to programing? I thought it was just unathorized records or
someshit like that.

Check it now, I don't want to find out later that somebody programed the VI kill people or that reapers did some changes to it. Better check it now. Even more important to check it if we are planning on giving to VI to Michael. Better know the programing changes.

You flick open the listing of unauthorized alterations. It makes you ponder, even momentarily, just what could force changes to an Alliance military-grade VI. A spectre? Or someone high up in government? Either way, you glance into the alterations.

>DELETE SUBARCHIVE "SecFoF"

>DELETE USER

Seems a bit too technical, but you can at least guess at some of what was done. Somebody tried to sabotage the software of the base, but apparently forgot to properly log in on the local network. A nice trail of bread crumbs. The data also that it was a local user-- somebody directly logged in from the VI core itself.

>Ambassadorial recordings
You treat yourself to several minutes of THE most boring shit EVER CONCEIVED. Meeting, meeting, meeting, discussion about Element Zero prices for barter on the galactic market between Volus and humans, meeting, meeting, invasion of Earth, boring, boring, violence... Unfortunately, the ambassadorial recordings seem to be a bust, unless you feel like doing some insider trading based on months-old information. Maybe the Shadow Broker will pay better for this.

>Financial transactions.
THIS is the good stuff. Millions of credits sloshing in and out of the place, but you're a grifter from way back. You recognize laundering when you see it, especially with credits. Millions of credits swooshing in and out of departments, everything from R&D to the shipyards.

By the time the reactor whirs to life, you've followed the money trail. Some of it was dispensed as a grant to the "Humanitarian Colonist Defense Militia", one of the former Cerberus's more well-known fronts. Judging by the scale of transactions, Mister Money Donor was someone high up in the Alliance military.

Nice blackmail material. The Spectre funding accounts can tell you, at a glance, just where that money came from. Several human Spectres, some of which you suspect are likely long dead but never reported as such, have been having steady transactions taken from their accounts, given for 'Alliance Military War Goods'.

Motherfucker. It's brilliant, and you wish -you- thought of it.

You suspect there's more to this, and lo and behold, there is! Among the transactions, you notice an interesting coincidence. One of the Spectres purchased a number of old buildings several hundred miles away. By shuttle, however, it'd be a short trip: Less than a couple of hours.

And according to the Alliance Military's spending, it was the home of the armory you sought. Hidden in single purchases, assault rifles here, a couple gunships there, all delivered to the same region. All authorized without any attached IDs.

You're not a brilliant engineer, but fuck anyone who thinks you don't know your protocols.

You start streaming out thoughts and orders. For the first time in forty-eight hours, you can actually have a moment of goddamn peace and quiet to think in. It's kind of refreshing, in a weird way, to not have to immediately kill anything within arm's reach.

Plus, slouched over as you are, it's a good way to regain some of your strength.

"VI," You speak up, "Status report?"

"Secondary generator online. Emergency power supplies recharging. Primary power restored. Beginning non-primary base functionality restoration. Warning: Security mechs unresponsive. Reason: Behavior protocols unable to be loaded. Warning: Communications array still requires recalibration and reorientation. Broadcasting range severely reduced until reorientation is complete. Estimated current broadcast range: Ten square miles."

"And how long will that take?"

"Without reference to active Alliance communications buoys, the process has an estimated completion time of two hours."
>>
>>22193760

Which puts you firmly into night time. On the upside, you have a lit-up bunker you can use. On the downside, you have just the three of you in the remains of an old building. No shuttle, no extra supplies, and fuckall knows how many Reaper forces still out there. They'll all be gone soon enough, sure, but it's going to be a clusterfuck rooting them out.

"Right. Michael," You pull up the comm feed for the Geth Infiltrator, "I want you to chec the crashed shuttle outside, see how flightworthy it is and what loot it has."

"Understood, Battlemaster Urah."

You tap your omni-tool, saving the data you recovered for later. At the very least, the information on that little cache of arms intended for Cerberus could come in handy.

The Geth Infiltrator silently walks towards the elevator as you climb back upright, having regained some strength.

Liselle slowly peers around the corner, "I, ah-- I managed to help get the reactor running." She states, "Is there anything you want me to take care of while the Geth-- I mean, while Michael takes care of the shuttle? I could help him, maybe. Cover him. In case he needs help." She suggests lamely.

"Yeah. Help me get the VI out of this place." You mention, plodding forwards. The VI core room seems to have once had a large pair of heavy security doors intended to keep the likes of the Reaper troops out. With power only now being restored, it seems that the other subsystems were much more important for it to restore before security doors.

Which works for you, as you walk through the threshold into the VI's core room. The whole place is filled with whirring computers and processing machinery, centralized around a lone pillar topped in holographic displays.

A brief inspection showed that the top of the conical pillar was on a hinge. Odds are, that's where you'd retrieve your VI core from, but once removed, it's clear that the facility's ability to perform actions autonomously would be compromised.
>>

"Sounds good kiddo. Make sure nothing sneaks up on him while he's checking it out."

Kneel down a bit so that we're not towering over her and put our hand on her shoulder.

"You did good today, I'm proud of you Liselle. You kept your cool and fought well. You're stronger than you think you are.

If anything up there bothers you or if you need backup just call me, I'll be there faster than you can believe and nothing will be able to save our foes."

Let's grab it, we're not sticking around here anyways and we got the info we wanted. Hopefully the elevator will still work once we take it.

"Good idea, kiddo." You mention to her, nodding approvingly. "We can't have anything try creeping up on him while he's rooting around there."

It's odd, calling a machine a 'him', but it seems that both of you have fallen into the notion. Geth are, apparently, AIs at this point. Just what they do with their sentience is uncertain, but you figure it's fair enough to call Michael a 'him' while 'he' gets 'his' bearings.

She nods, looking ready to turn around, but you place a hand on her shoulder, stooping down somewhat.

"You did good today, Liselle. For an Asari." You mention, your eyes boring into her own. You have a vague moment of nostalgia for Tuchanka. Was Wrex still alive? You don't let her feel too proud of herself, though, as your face turns into a frown.

"But you're still new meat. Weak. I don't like babysitting." You mention, the brief, murderous impulse in your mind. You could easily blow her brains out, take the VI Core, and just stroll off without her. It wouldn't exactly be difficult to accomplish, considering your vastly superior capabilities compared to her rookie skills.

Maybe a nice vacation back home could do you some good.

The moment of nostalgia passes as you asses the Asari not in a friendly way, but in the trained, calculated assessment of a Battlemaster. Her arm injury is healing nicely, but she's clearly expended quite a bit of biotic energy. Thankfully Michael can mostly take care of himself, but she seems fit for combat. Maybe not another firefight like what you just had, but a couple Husks wouldn't ruin her day too much.

"I can learn." She retorts, frowning back at you. "I also happen to recall that I was the one who helped improve your biotic barriers with my own. I may be new, b-but I've killed now. I can do it again."

She almost sounded like a real soldier for a moment there. Almost. She abruptly turns about-face, walking towards the elevator, clearly somewhat angry. Not to the point of getting sloppy, but it should give her a crisp edge if any trouble comes up upstairs. You can only grin at your rather precise mind games panning out. You know just as well as any Krogan that if you treat someone soft and squishy, the only thing they'll end up being is a dead soft and squishy.

Especially against Reapers.

Which leaves you with the VI core.
>>
>>22194554
Kill her before she gets on the elevator.
>>
>>22194554
Alrighty, let's get us a core so we can get paid.
>>
>>22194510
I'm not sure how old we are, but we're a Biotic God and have at least 100 years of combat experience on her if not more. Krogans can live as long as Asari and they devote their lives to war. She's not going to catch up for at least 200 years, if ever.

On an unrelated note Asari are pretty much the only way for a Krogan to have kids given the birth rate, and Krogan are the only other species around that lives as long as Asari do.

>>22194554
She will become strong, we'll ensure it. She will not be soft like the rest of the Asari, we will mold her into a Battle Master, except blue.

For now let's get that core, no point in leaving it here.

Your hand slips away from the butt of your Avenger assault rifle, instead looking to the VI core's central pillar. You can trust her for now, at least, though she's weak. Perhaps she'll harden up.

Or perhaps you'll just put a bullet in the stupid bitch's brainpan.

Either way, you reach out, roughly yanking at the hinged top of the pillar, forcing the tiny lock inside open. You see the modular VI core mentioned before, and credit signs form in your eyes as you stare down at it. There's a lot of platinum and fine wiring surrounding the module, but the entire thing seems to slip into its housing with ease. There's a small grip at the top of the VI core for ease of handling.

Which you promptly use to yank it out, the three-by-five rectangular module fitting easily onto your belt. Something seems off about it, but you know it's valuable, and that's what matters.

Time to leave, unless you have any less matters you wish to attend to before departing for Liselle and Michael?

Considering you're carrying the heart and mind of this place on your hip, you're pretty sure that you don't need to worry about erasing your trail. Primarily because you're carrying your trail with you.

Stopping over in the infirmary, you're greeted to a rather messy sight. Blood coated the walls and floor, but you don't focus too much on that fact, instead taking assessment of what you can loot. Considering the fact that you're bugging out, you elect to take as much as you can, grabbing a collapsible crate and proceeding to jam as much as you can into it. The medi-gel dispenser becomes your personal toy as you crack open the casing, cramming the containers of fluid within the box.

Considering your crimson-stained body, you feel like a sort of Krogan Kris Kringle, except instead of distributing toys to all the good girls and boys, you're piling on a treasure trove of loot for yourself. In addition to the fancier-looking pieces of equipment, you'd guesstimate that you've got at least a half million credits in stuff crammed into the oversized crate, now held under your arm.

You radio to Michael as you begin to make your way out, your omni-tool humming as it detects several new transmissions. Apparently the comms station acted as a transceiver for local transmissions in addition to a broadcasting platform.

>"This is Lieutenant Tarquin Quintus of the Turian Hierarchy. We have created a forward operating base on the rooftop of Aldrin Labs. All other groups, please respond."
>"Air support! I need air support-- Keelah se'lai! We've got Marauders and husks coming at us from all corners. Marines! Suppressing fire!"
>"This is Huntress Team Six. Requesting airlift to new AO-- Armax Arms has been secured."
>"Tango, tango, tango. This is Lander Delta-Tau-Four. I've got a bogey on my tail and I can't shake him. Any ground support available to assist?"
>>
>>22196073
Let's save the lander, use him to swing by and pick up the Asari and Quarians if we have time, then head to the Turian base. That'll get us out of here.
>>
>>22196073
First we join back up with our gang. See if we can locate how far away these calls for help are.

What transport options do we have available to us?
>>
>>22196073

Save the lander, and have him take the huntresses to help the Quarians.

Forward this plan to the Turian and ask for any support he can spare.
>>
>>22196073
You thumb over to Michael for the moment,

"What's the condition of the shuttle?"
"This unit has explored the shuttle. It is an Alliance UT-47 Kodiak drop shuttle. It is in working condition with minimal damage to the superstructure. The element zero reactor is active with sufficient fuel for extended operations. The Alliance soldiers appeared to have died from slashing wounds. Origin unknown."

>>
>>22196229
Cool, let's get to Micheal and Blueberry.

We'll have Micheal look through the signals and get us locations and distances to the guys that need backup. I'm personally interested in the Huntress Team, we grab them I think we'll get an Asari Commando team with us and they just got a pile of weaponry.
>>
>>22196271
I like this plan. We'll be able to move more quickly than I thought with a working Kodiak and if we take care of the Asari and Quarians then the Turians should at least be able to support the lander until we get there.

You hurry down to the shuttle, where Michael seems to have taken the gunner's seat, Liselle sitting in the passenger compartment. The main cannon sweeps the skies as the Geth looks to you,

"Shall this platform pilot the aircraft?" It asks. You could pilot the craft just as well, but considering the Kodiak has a tendency of flying like a drunk hippo, it might prove a bit of an interesting flight.

Liselle, meanwhile, hurries out to take the crate you're carrying with both arms, stowing it inside as the radio chatter persists.

"What's the distance to those distress calls?" You ask.

"By order of proximity at cruise speed:
Turian officers - Five minutes.
Creators - Ten minutes.
Lander vehicle - Ten minutes.
Asari Huntresses - Fifteen minutes.

Maximum speed will reduce times required."

Your omni-tool continues flashing as the communication lines come to life further.

"This is the Qwib-Qwib." A Quarian voice cuts through, sounding dead serious and almost authoritative. "We're flying low and fast for a strafing run. Requesting target designations!"
>>
>>22196662
We could send him to take assist the quarians, I guess, while we go to free up the Lander to it can go off to aid the turians. Have the robot pilot, full speed ahead.

"Qwib-Qwib, this is Battlemaster Urdnot Urah." You hop aboard the fallen shuttle as Michael silently makes its way into the pilot's seat. There's a low hum as the vessel's thrusters activate, the mass effect field coming to life.

A quick assessment shows you that the vessel was loaded for a hunt-and-destroy mission. There's a half-dozen hydra missile launchers folded up on the gun rack near the back, as well as a few boxes of thermal clips. Ammunition won't be a concern any time soon.

Then again, manning the Kodiak's door gun, you suspect that ammunition is a very, very small concern. Liselle seems to be busy strapping in as you shout to the Geth,

"Get us to the lander-- gun it!" You shout, your face splitting into a feral grin as you rack back the slide on the weapon, priming the mass accelerator cannon with a low whirr. The lights flick on as the sun's last dregs of light begin to evaporate.

>9:01 PM.

You've been fighting for almost fifty hours now, but you keep yourself going by sheer determination.

"Qwib-Qwib, I repeat, Qwib-Qwib, do you read?"
"Affirmative, Krogan." The captain replies, a note of disdain entering his voice.
"Cut the shit, helmet-face, and help your marines-- there's a squad of them not ten minutes from my position." You inform him, which gets you a somewhat startled answer.

"What? How dare you speak to an officer of the Fleet in su--"

Click.
>>
>>22197108
"Lieutenant Quintus," You begin, gripping the butterfly triggers of the accelerator cannon firmly as the shuttle jerks upright before zipping off. The wind rushes against your face as you find yourself streaking through the air.

"Identify yourself, unknown-- we have you on our scopes."
"Urdnot Urah. I'm moving in to assist the lander under attack. You think you can manage to hold your position better than you held Palaven?"
The Turian's frustration is clearly broadcast as well, "Yes. We're assembling several accelerator cannons to help fend off enemy fliers, and coordinating orbital fire support from the fleets in orbit. Our position, along with several others, is secure."

Which is good, because the shuttle jerks hard left as Michael hugs the surface of a collapsed office building, traversing its tilted structure with nary feet to spare.

"Approaching lander in three minutes." Michael informs you.

Which is good, because you can hear the radio cries of the pilot get a bit more frantic.
>"Ah HELL! Tango isn't giving up, and this thing isn't built for dogfighting. I'm approaching the Hierarchy FOB, requesting fire support. We got a Thanix missile or something, don't we?!"
>Explosions
>"FUCK'N HELL! I've lost an engine-- mass effect fields holding. If someone's gonna help, help soon!"
>>
>>22197123

Michael speaks up, "This platform can navigate in three major directions: A higher altitude, trading cover for the benefit of a prime vantage point for firing; continuing the current traversal of the urban landscape, providing additional cover for sporadic firing windows; attempt to penetrate through several of the office structures. The Kodiak is a durable vessel with its own armaments, and has a high probability of sustaining minimal damage. The window for firing will be minimal, but protection from enemy fire and expedience to target area will improve greatly."

(Roll 1d20 for navigation, whatever you choose)

"UP!" You roar, laughing as you hear the distant roar of orbital weapons fire. Mass accelerator cannons, Thanix missiles, and more besides rain from the heavens above in an unholy firestorm, pinpointed upon large concentrations of Reaper forces.

All of this is irrelevant as you feel the craft jerk upwards, the cityscape below vanishing as you soar well above the rooftops of the buildings, your eyes scanning from left to right.

You finally catch sight of the distressed landing craft. It's a rather bulky thing, as might be expected, designed to deploy a full platoon of Alliance soldiers and their support vehicles.

It's also being pursued by a--

IS THAT A FUCKING HARVESTER?

Well, it's a good thing you're feeling frisky today. Michael seems to almost telepathically bond with you as you approach from high above, the Qwib-Qwib visible as it begins an approach from high noon in the opposite direction. It was such an ugly looking little ship, even for Quarian craft.

Which is why you're particularly gleeful as the Harvester is unaware of your approach. Its mouth-mounted cannons fire another spray of shots, the landing craft's kinetic barriers barely flicking back to life in time to be knocked out again. Smoke is pouring out of one of its four main engines, though its armor seems to be holding.

Dogfight in a quest time!

Let's do this, murder the fuck out of it, shoot the ever loving fuck out of it, use our BIOTIC GOD powers to reinforce our shields so we don't just die. And don't forget to laugh, for today is a good day, we are in battle with a Harvester.

>YES IT IS
Michael's expert piloting seems to make even you look like a chump as the Geth dive bombs at the Harvester, the Kodiak's thrusters giving a whine as they're made do to things that are usually reserved for gunships.

Like turning on almost a dime midair, bringing you and your heavy cannon level with the Harvester. The lander takes a slow turn around a pair of office buildings, its engines groaning as the Kodiak keeps along with the Reaper aircraft with little difficulty.

Giving little difficulty for you to open fire. The mass accelerator cannon thunders in your grip as you strafe its head mid-firing, and you hear a satisfying explosion as one of its mouth-mounted cannons goes up in flames, the monster's head whipping back and forth.

The Harvester whips its head back and forth! Whips its head back and forth!

Which gives you plenty of time to mulch up its neck, cybernetic ichor spraying in a wide arc as you pierce what is probably something equivalent to a major artery. But BOY does that Harvester look pissed off right now.

At least it's not focused on the Lander anymore?

"Today is a good day!" You announce, cycling the thermal clips on the mass accelerator cannon. Michael seems to be blessed with some kind of freakish aptitude for flying, because the Kodiak is engaging in a merry aerial dogfight. Soaring right back up as the Harvester attempts to bodycheck the shuttle, you're treated to the sight of...

"TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!" You roar, as the Harvester's body slam fails to not only connect, but actually causes it to crash through one of the abandoned office buildings, the entire structure collapsing atop it as it roars.

That doesn't seem to be enough, however, as it abruptly shoots into the skies, firing from its remaining cannon a stream of shots that dance through the skies. One of them impacts the Kodiak's kinetic barriers, causing the craft to shudder.

>Aerial dogfight time!
>Orders?
>Kodiak has two forward-mounted mass accelerator cannons, the door gun you're manning, and the Hydra missile launchers in the gun rack towards the back of the passenger compartment.
>Hydra has a lone cannon, but is very large and very, very fast.

Bait it, and then hit it with an instant death rocket when it comes for us.

If that won't work, how well would we stand up for a ramming attack?

>All these 20s
>I can't contain my dice

"Bring the Kodiak around! We'll catch the it with the forward guns!" You shout, Michael seeming to follow your orders unswervingly as the craft climbs up, before abruptly firing the starboard thrusters. The entire vehicle spins around as it goes both forward and upwards, and you can hear Liselle gagging in her seat as she clutches onto the safety harness.

And then you see it, two robotic eyes of pure hatred locking onto your own, the Harvester screeching as it meets your charge with its own. Its much larger and heavier, but they don't call a Kodiak a drunk hippo for nothing. Your own craft's ponderous weight is aided by gravity as Michael speaks up. The Geth sounds almost concerned, yet still detached.

"Current descent speeds will likely result in a fatal collision should we impact the Reaper organism."
"THEN DON'T HIT IT! Just kill it!" You roar back, the whole frame shuddering as the remaining Harvester cannon fires. High-energy shots splash across the shields.

"Kinetic barriers at thirty percent."
>>
>>22198102
>>22198102
You peer around the edge of the craft's frame, watching the forward cannons open fire. A stream of rounds pours into the Harvester's head, its entire body writhing as the weight of fire weighs upon it. Its remaining cannon explodes, its entire jaw being blown off in the process, blood pouring by the barrel from its body.

Unfortunately, no joust is eternal, but you're treated to one of the best gifts you've had in years. Instead of crashing head-on, Michael's impeccable flying skills come to the rescue once again.

In particular, they result in you flying along the underbelly of the creature, the entire shuttle pivoting so you sail between its legs. Bracing your feet against the edges of the door and gripping the gun, you find your body defying the pull of gravity as you depress the triggers, stitching a stream of shots across the Harvester's underbelly. Blood and cybernetic ichor spray across your face and torso armor, and you simply grin as it happens.

The engines roar as the Kodiak clears the Harvester, just as you watch the flesh of its underbelly give way, the creature disemboweled. Its body falls to the city below in a dramatic crash, accompanied by several chain detonations as its internal reactor goes up.

"TODAY IS A GOOD DAY!"

And judging by the furious flashing from your omni-tool, a lot of people want to talk with you.

>>22198109
First, congratulate Micheal, he did a damn fine job. Brofists are in order.

Then tell Liselle "I hope you're taking notes, this is how a warrior ought to act. Watch, learn, and become strong. Do not disappoint me, I expect much from you."

Tell the dropship that they're clear and ought to land at the FOB about now.

Then answer the radio, first tell the Huntress team that we are en route to pick them up, and sarcastically apologize that we might be later than originally intended, we were busy killing a Harvester.

Then we can answer the radio and see who wants to talk to us.
>>
>>22198109
First we'd better gloat a little.
Then, congratulate Michael for being the greatest Kodiak pilot of all time.
Then, tell the dropship they're fine now.
Then, head out to get the Huntresses, radio ahead so they know we're coming. And I think some good natured ribbing toward Blueberry is in order, we saw her gag.
Answer our radio en route.

Take us to a requisition station so we can get modifications. We need a bayonet for our missile launchers.

Maybe a Shooting Range so the Asari can train a bit more. And a work bench so we can quip the mods.

Hey by the way, are we gonna archive this?

It's already archived under Mass Effect Quest Part II. right above part I.
