You are Lord William Bordain, Lord of Morderengrad and the Norther Valley. Some have taken to calling you the Iron Lord, as your wealth flows from the arms and armor you sell, and your demeanor is as unflinching and cold as castle-forged steel. Those who oppose you are forged into your next weapons, or crushed and tossed to the winds.

Two years you brooded on the slaying of the Targaryen children, the deed that won you your Lordship, while your lands fell to bandits and saboteurs. Within the last two seasons, you have quelled these troubles, and made your lands safe again. You are betrothed to the Lady Alyssa Tollett, and will one day be Lord of Grey Glen in addition to your other holdings.

Your most recent adventures brought you into conflict with House Belmore, who had a viper hidden in their midst, a Knight still loyal to the Targaryens, one cheated of lands promised him by your appointment. He had waged a silent war against you, paid by bribes and lies. Finally, at a feast for Jon Arryn’s Wedding, you caught the villain, and saw justice done.

Now you face a much cleverer foe, one patient, calculating, and determined to force you to do as they please: Your fiancée.

That’s right, after a week of (relative) rest and recuperation from a wound levied on you by one of your betrothed’s failed suitors, you’ve risen from your fallen state to deal with that most dangerous of campaigns: Wedding planning.

How you been page?

You sit in your solar, with your Castellan For Korbis. He's in his mid forties, a career soldier until you made him your Steward, and he's taken to the job with a great deal of cynicism, but refuses to fail in his duties. You scratch at your chest bindings while he speaks, bothered by the itching.

"Well, milord, there's no two ways about it, you are right fucked," Korbis points out, taking a draw from his beer as he speaks. "Once you marry a girl, all your opinions become irrelevant. Oh, aye, they say you're the decision maker, but see how many of your decisions are what she wants!"

Korbis and you are sharing a lunch of cracked crab and butter, with brown bread, and a shallot and rice pilaf. Since you've gotten back from the Eyrie, Korbis has complained quite a few times about your engagement, and coming wedding. You know it's probably just because the old warhorse is emotionally lost on what to do or how to help you with this, since he's been a bachelor his whole life.

>Response, or move on to "business"?

>>24908825
Some good days, some bad, you know how it goes. Right now I'm trying to find people to act in The Taming of The Shrew for a summer show, but only 5 people came to auditions for a show that needs 14.
And I just lost a game of FTL.
But those are both just to pass the time, so I can't complain too much.
>>
>>24909039
Well there has to be 'someone' to keep me entertained when we are not chopping limbs or cracking heads. Also how is the development doing for the Gold Mine?

I LOVE YOU

WANNA COME OVER AND FUCK MY SISTER?

It's actually just me in a wig. But seriously, I'm really glad you're starting this up again.
>>
>>24909039

Korbis my friend, let's look at this logically, certainly I have to wed, I have to sire children to hold these lands that I am turning civilized after I have gone to rest.

Unless some rat bastard with a knife decides they want me dead first, I have to have a family. After all, someone is going to have to carry on my good works after I am gone, and considering your lack of children, I can't exactly adopt one of them now can I?
>>
>>24909039
"Korbis, I'm getting married to a wonderful woman, not dying. Imagine a sword, no matter if you beat it, crack it, burn it, let it rust, as long as the core of good steel remains you can always just put it back in the fire and make it anew.

My core will not be changed by this, I'll still be the same person you've always known. She isn't going to make me stop being the man she fell in love with.

Now get used to it, you'll even come to like her once you stop worrying like an old lady.

Besides, I need to get married for more land and to have kids. You'll get to be an uncle, not in name, but in the important ways."

Yeah, no. Seriously, we founded our own house out of our awesomeness and willingness to spill copious amounts of blood. We don't need someones name, we have our own.

You set your beer down as you speak, grabbing a bit of crab leg, wresting the meat from it, and dunking it in melted butter before tossing it on some warm bread, tossing a bit of salt and pepper from the bowls onto it.

"Korbis, old friend, come now, I'm getting married, not dying. And I have to get married sometime, if not for my lands and children to hold them, then at least to keep me entertained when I'm not out breaking bones and cutting throats.

Look at it logically, if we want these lands to stay mine and you want to keep living in a castle, I need children to inherit it when I die. Whether disease, old age, or some rat bastard with a knife lays me low, someone needs to carry on the Bordain name."

You pick up your open faced crab sandwich, and take a bite,

"I mean, it's not like I can adopt one of your kids, can I?"

He grouses a bit at this, "No doubt I've a son or two you could find if you looked hard enough, milord. Course, he might know more of court stables than their tables."

You smile at the rhyme.

"So about as qualified as I was, eh?" You wave off any comment. "Korbis, this isn't going to change me. I didn't win Alyssa by yielding to her wishes, I won her by horse race, hard headedness, and what little charm was taught to me by old soldiers. You'll like her. And if you don't, you'll at least respect her. I left my mother in Westerlands, I don't need you nagging me too."

He sighs and nods.

"Now, how's the Gold mine coming?"
"You ask it every day, milord, It's coming. It would take three months three weeks ago, it'll take 2 months and a week today."

He pulls a sheaf of papers from his pocket.
"Can we discuss just how much money we're going to lose on this wedding?"

field too long, fuck.

>Through ravens with your betrothed, you know she would like a decent wedding, and a "small" tourney to be held.
>Jon Arryn mentioned that the more and greater festivities in these times, the easier life will be for you all.

Options:
You can spend wealth on the Wedding itself, and the Tourney.

Tournament costs and rewards are in the pic, Wedding ones are more freeform, and fall under what you which to spend it on.

For instance, investing wealth into the ceremony means more lords and ladies, therefore more influence, and potential connections.
Paying out to taverns and brothels will raise the smallfolk's opinion, and potentially increase population.
Paying Guards overtime will keep defenses high without morale issues.
If you can suggest it and explain it, I'll give it a shot.

>You can of course talk to Korbis about his opinions.
>>
>>24909768
>Ask Korbis about his opinions

And I think either Regional or Local.
>>
>>24909768
We currently appear to have shitloads of wealth, so I'd say a Regional Tournament seems doable.

And isn't two contests the standard, Joust and Melee?
>>
>>24909878

There's also Archery.

But I say we must have at least a Jousting Tournament.
>>
>>24909768
Regional Tournament with a Joust, Grand Melee, and Archery Contest.

Spend 3 wealth on the ceremony, and pay out to taverns and brothels.
>>
>>24909768

Ok, looking at this realistically, we can't host a grand tournament. Simply put, we are a small lord, with no grand name and a smallish town, that while good with connections in some areas, is not the greatest in others. I would say we go with a regional, and rather than just spend the 5, bump it up to 11 to make it as fucking awesome as possible. We host the regular joust, we host an archery, and we host a fuck huge three ring circus grand melee or duel circuit. Take the extra and spread it to make everything that we supply for this as well done as possible. Meaning better stands, better food, better lodging, better workers, happier workers, and make it obvious that we not only laid out the good coin for the tournament, but that we laid out extra SPECIFICALLY to make certain that this one is memorable and well done.

We have to show these regional upjumped mountain lords how this shit is supposed to be done.

Wedding wise... well, if we spend 11 wealth on the tournament for it, then spending less than 7 on the wedding itself would be folly. Let's take it all out, our wealth increases each month, we don't have any pressing issues to deal with, and with this lay out, it should increase our reputation, demand for our wares, and all the rest. So 18 in total for everything, and then a final outlay of 2 more wealth to ensure that everything is secure and safe and all the attendees and their people are fat and happy. 20 wealth total spent, but by god, it will be the talk of the vale and possibly the kingdom for at least two or three years.
>>
>>24909768
We do have a lot of Wealth lying around. So probably a Regional Tournament, with 3 contests perhaps, Melee, Joust, and Archery.

If I remember correctly we have a bard on tap so have him make some songs to spread about the ceremonies. Make sure to put some on security, have some hillfolk do some parts of the entertainment, everyone loved it when what's-his-face did his dance at the dinner.
>>
>>24909922
>and pay out to taverns and brothels.

Maybe build up some quick but stable & cheap housing for their services if they come and give up some amount of their earnings from the wedding?
>>
>>24909768
regional sounds good unless we would want to suck up to the lannistars and the other bigwigs.

As for paying guards overtime I would reccomend having our military perform some of the guard duties. also some of our forces should be in out in force patrolling. Not to mention it would be good if we could send some troops to escort the people we want to suck up to. Paying out to the taverns and brothels would be nice as well to make it easier for them to celebrate.
>>
>>24909962
>bump it up to 11 to make it as fucking awesome as possible.

...

How bad would the consequences be if we were to invite Tywin Lannister to the wedding?
>>
>>24909962

Something else to remember in favor of the massive outlay I suggest. We aren't just going to get people from the vale, we use to be Tywin Lannisters squire. We ARE going to get people like him (Possibly), and possibly other royal connections showing up (We did kill the Targ kids for Robert, and those two did grant us this land). We aren't holding just a regional, but a mini grand tournament for it all.

And seriously, think about it, how else can we really rub everyone's nose in how successful we are if we don't spend some of the coin. Add that to possibly recruiting some landless knights, increasing our manliness, and proving that we are not someone to ever fuck with, we can use it as a subtle way to spy out everyone with Grell and his boys and figure out who may be behind the fucked up coins and other issues we have.

Three birds, one stone.
>>
>>24910031
We were his squire once right?

I kind of doubt he'd care.
>>
>>24910031
If we do that were gonna want to go Grand though I wouldn't be surprised for it to be possible. After all we DO supply the his forces with equipment not to mention we were his square and did some of his dirty work.
>>
>>24909768
Westeros - We don't have Tourneys so we can marry off our daughters, we hope for daughters so we can afford to hold tourneys!

"and a "small" tourney to be held" - that translates to "As big as we can afford" in woman speak. In that light, Grand Tourney for 10 Wealth, 7 Wealth on the wedding (2 for Guards, 3 for Ceremony, 2 for taverns and brothels, 1 for additional minstrels and maybe a small fair.)

Of course, ask Korbis' thoughts as well.
>>
>>24910031

Honestly the question isn't how bad would it be if we invited him. How bad would it be if we didn't is the question.

We are kind of duty bound to invite both him, and Robert, even if we do secretly hate both the fuckers.
>>
>>24910052
Hm now that you say it WOULD be clever to do a grand tournament. To show off and more much more.
>>
>>24910082
Shit your right we 'owe' both of them to much fuck >>24910029 here changing vote to Grand tournament.
>>
>>24910061
>>24910070
>>24910087
Grand would be way too much. It's not just 10 Wealth, it's 25 if we want a good complement of tourneys, 10 base + 5 Joust + 5 Melee + 5 Archery. Way too much for us. We only have this much gold because we got a major infusion of cash, we usually don't have this much money, let's not burn it all on this one thing.
>>
>>24910082

I was a little worried about inviting him because that might send an unintended message to the other Lords of the Vale, saying "I'M STILL EVULZ LOLZORS".

But let's invite him.

And I'm confused as to why we should invite Robert to our wedding.
>>
>>24910070
Forgot the events: Jousting, Dueling Brackets, Archery, Grand Melee, and a pre-wedding Hunt to supply the feast with a centerpiece meal.
>>
>>24910113

Agreed. Grand is to much. With the regional I suggested, that and the wedding and all the rest comes out to 20 total. Sure it's a lot, but if we held just an archery contest with a grand, and as a small house we cannot host it properly, we would be out 15 before the wedding. This way we host a larger than normal regional, and with the extras added in, we have one of the best regionals in history.
>>
>>24910118

We have to invite him. We killed the Targeryan children and in essence removed the last obstacle from his gaining the throne.

Add to that, he and tywin together, convinced Arryn to grant us this land, and he made us a lord of the realm.

Not inviting him and only inviting Tywin would be suicide.
>>
>>24910145
Exactly, Regional, make it one snazzy fucking Regional instead of a meh Grand.

And make sure to get songs spread about it beforehand.

And because we're just that awesome we can have hillman entertainment and music in some parts, it both saves on costs and makes it more memorable.
>>
>>24910180
>We killed the Targeryan children and in essence removed the last obstacle from his gaining the throne.

Ah, right.

Sorry, I'm a little messed up right now for some odd reason.

I keep thinking we're Lord Karban and that we're in the Arbor for some fucking reason.
>>
>>24910180
Plus just because we invite him doesn't mean he has to show up.
>>
>>24910113
The thing is if we do that we can show off a awesome production capabilities. Not to mention we have to invite Lannisters and Robert for reasons. If we do anything less then that it ain't gonna be pretty remember Tywin.
>>
>>24910243
I don't know, they can always not show up.

The important thing is she tried.
>>
>>24910243
And completely empty our fucking coffers. Grand is way too much. Focus on quality not quantity. Have a hardcore bitching Regional and have Wealth to invest in our future.
>>
>>24910300

Exactly, Grand is too much, Regional not quite enough. Regional plus extra is perfect.

>>
>>24910904

You explain your idea to Korbis.

"A regional Tourney, Korbis. We'll have the Joust, Archery, and a Grand Melee. Throw some more dragons around to keep quality high, and food and wine cheap.
"The ceremony itself, we pay the guards extra to keep them sharp, set the throne room up so it can support the guests and looks nice, we give the smallfolk a festival, cheap ale and whores, and we get a few mummers or minstrels.
"Finally, we throw out some money for good security over the whole event."

Korbis looks at you for a minute.
"I'd call you mad, boy, if I weren't reminding myself you're a lord, and that we just made Belmore bleed through the nose in reparations." He sighs.
"Well, if we're lucky, you'll only being marrying the once, I suppose."
He mulls over your instructions for a moment.
"So, you're paying more for guards on the whole affair, and in the wedding itself?"

You nod.

"I don't think you'll need to be paying for the extra guards at the wedding. Unless you want to hurt Egar's feelings, or insult the Bloodsmiths' honor."

He looks you in the eye.

"I'd also think about a gift for your wife. I may not have married, but I know a happy start makes it easier to bear."

"The only other concern I see is this: We've no Septon or sept. Unless you're willing to wait a year and a half for the wedding."

>>
>>24911041

A year and a half.

I don't suppose it would be bad form to have the Wedding in House Tolett's holding? If I remember correctly, he seemed to be pretty cool with us and very eager to see his daughter married.
>>
>>24911041
Isn't that we got our military for we would be kind enough to do it in shifts but still?
>>
>>24911038

Then lest go with this, we should also ask the father about it.

>>24911038
>>
Holy shit Iron and Hate is back fuck yeah!. Ahem. Welcome back Page.
>>
>>24910989
We do have plenty of soldiers, no need for extra guarding.

I'd rather not wait for the Sept to be finished, a year and a half is an awful long time so call for a Septon early and get started on construction anyways, it's a good thing to have.

For gifts we'll want clothing and jewelry, preferably the gold being from our mines. Perfumes from over sea. We'll also want to get her practical things like a truly astounding horse, all the sharp metal things she could ever want.
>>
>>24910989

If you wait, we'll do House fortune rolls and some potential events, but you might insult your lady soon-to-be wife / miss some opportunities.

Rushing may slightly bother the High Septon.

So Option A: You'll be in a better place with your finances, but you might fall behind the plot

Option B: You definitely won't miss the plot, but you may be in a less than fantastic footing.

"Hmmm. I'll ask Alyssa whether she wants to wait for the Sept, or do it sooner."

Korbis raises an eyebrow.

"Wiser than I thought, milord. For all I said before, making a wedding without consulting the bride is like making armor without seeing the knight. Though," he interjects. "I would not tell her the whole scope of the thing. Womenfolk like to be surprised by a man's gifts to them."

You pen a quick note to Alyssa, stating you've got a plan for the wedding, and whether sh'd like to wait to be marrie din a proper sept, or if having a priest do it in your throne room will do, and send the raven off.

>>24911144

That looks like about 2 apiece. So, you'll do all of them!

You spend the rest of the day busy with a variety of tasks. Having recently recovered from your grievous wound, you decide to stretch yourself out in the training yard. As you pick up a dulled sword to train with Egar, you hear in it the faint ringing of the hammers that forged it, the clink of the picks that unearthed it, and the clanging of the blades it met. Despite your injury, your Iron still sings in your Soul. The next two hours feel...faster. Training has never been so smooth for you before. Certainly, your wound slows you, but it's like a small limp in a waltz.
Having gotten your blood coursing, you oversee reports of the mines and smithies, weapon prices, and markets. You make a few choices you suspect will turn a good profit in the next few shipments.
Thus armed and fed, you turn to your other great concern: the forge-fire in your heart. The endless pounding of your hatred. You hear some call you the Iron Lord for how cold and hard your demeanor is. If they knew how hot your heart burned they'd call you the Lord of Hell. All of your troubles, all of your pain, is the product of your one-time Lord Tywin Lannister, and that fat King Robert Baratheon. The time will come, however, when you show fat Robert who truly has the fury, and you make your Lord Lannister pay his debt to you. But for that, you need more. More wealth, more men, more power.
You will break these lords, if you must break the Seven Kingdoms to do it.
(I wish my quick reply told me when the field was too long, like it used too.)

Then the Ravens Arrive!

Alyssa does not commit to either option in her letter, though reading between the lines, you suspect the attractive young woman may not want to wait a year to..."see" her husband.

Lord Tollett explains that he set aside over a thousand dragons for this occasion, and will gladly give them to you for any preparations you need.

That's probably best.

I just feel like if we're the Iron Master, Lord of Murder Mountain, there's certain expectations that we need to fulfill.
>>
>>24911841
That seems reasonable. If Lord Arryn doens't feel like lending us his septon, we could send for one from either King's Landing or the Westerlands - depending on which of our previous benefactors we feel like courting at the moment.
>>
>>24912076
Yeah no.

We're not doing that.

Sure it'd be hilarious, but probably not best for our reputation.
>>
>>24911952
That would be sweet if we could make a suit that is actually usable. Hell make it a typical look among our forces for intimidation and recognition purposes.

>>

Lord Tollett was amenable to any wedding plan that took place "before the Wall fell."

You send a raven to Lord Arryn asking if you might have the use of his Septon at a wedding in six month's time, and inviting him and Lady Arryn to the festivities.

The raven returns in about 5 days, where you continued your daily regime of improving your mind, body, and hate, with an answer to the affirmative, and an an acceptance of your invitation.

Now you know you can have a wedding in 6 months, time to send the invitations.

Are there any specific persons you'd like to invite?
>>
>>24912141
The King and the Lannisters
>>
>>24912141
I guess Tywin Lannister and King Robert.

And pray that neither one feels the need to attend.

Also all the regional lords I suppose?
>>
>>24912141
Robert baretheon and the Lannistars are a must. As well as any friends and other individuals we got along with outside the vale.
>>
>>24912141
We may as well invite Tywin and Robert, obviously we're getting pretty much everyone in the Vale as well.

If during our time in the war we fought back to back with any other nobles in particular or developed any specific friendships from that invite them.
>>
>>24912141

Lord Tywin Lannister of Casterly Rock

King Robert of the House Baratheon

Lord Belmore/Belmont (The guy we fucked over in the reparations. I actually think we should be friends with him/play nice)

Maybe some of our other neighboring lords and ladies.

Luuk, Tor and the other Chiefs.
>>
>>24912141

In order of importance, I plan to list families.
Tywin.
The rest of the Lannister Brood and kin.
Our own kin.
Robert and his kin.
Our two banners.
War buddies.
Customers.
Anyone our future wife/father in law tells us to invite.
The Mountain. (We did the killing with him, why the fuck not bring him to the wedding, besides it may be expected).
The hill tribes in our lands.
Neighbors.
The rest of the fuckers we don't know in the Vale.

Fairly decent start to a list I think.
>>
Come to think of it did we ever figure what we did outside the Vale before rebellion as well as during.
>>
>>24912234
This is a good list.
>>
>>24912234
Oh right, our family.

I forgot we had one of those.
>>
>>24912222

I don't think it should be maybe some of our other neighboring lords, it should be every noble lord in the vale, valour knights of the vale, everyone of note in the vale.

Blanket vale invitation to the party really.

Going from there as this is a regional shindig, and a fucking big one?

Anyone who is within say... ten days to two weeks of casual riding and of note/import.
>>
>>24912269
I am curious about what friends and other people we got along with as well.
>>
>>24912234

This list is the one I vote for.
>>
>>24912234
>The Mountain. (We did the killing with him, why the fuck not bring him to the wedding, besides it may be expected).

It seems to be the proper thing to do, seeing as how we shared in that horrendous act with him. But Gregor Clegane doesn't sound like a very sociable sort. He probably won't go berserk or anything, but it would remind a lot of people about what we did in King's Landing; not that they won't forget, but seeing the Mountain and knowing what he did could bring it back to the forefront. Almost as if we didn't really care if we did it or not.
>>
>>24912314
It would make one hell of a impression though which is what we want. Not to mention to really fuck with people we could talk about the things we did together. Which would actually make him happy and amendable reminding him of the fun things that happened.

As a Regional Tournament, all the Lords and Ladies of the are implied to be invited.
You invite your family, including your father, mother, and older sister.
You invite King Robert Baratheon, and his wife.
You invite Tywin Lannister, and any of his family he could wish to bring.
You of course invite your captains to the ceremony proper.
You send a few invites to preferred customers.
You ask Alyssa and Lord Tollett to invite whomever they like.
A few lords you fought beside in battle receive invitations.

You realize you know more people than you thought you did.

Alright, I have one decision for you guys before I paint us the next six months:
You have to roll house fortunes at least once every three months, and at most once a month. How often do you want to roll it over this time period?
>>
>>24912960
Bi monthly?
>>
>>24912960

Aside from having to deal with the results, are there any particular consequences for rolling for house fortunes more frequently?
>>
>>24912960
Monthly, I'm pretty sure the average expected value for us is positive.
>>
>>24913028
Nope, it just means you'll have to roll more often, and it'll take a little longer to get through the months.
>>
>>24912842
Ah, I see. I'll keep that in mind, then. I've been here almost a year, so I'm fairly new, you see.
>>
>>24913195
alright monthly than I suppose. Are we basically done for tonight or do you have more planned?
>>
>>24913195

Let's go monthly, then. Fortunes can be good, and so can developing schemes to deal with stuff that arises.
>>
>>24913227
>>24913340

I have the entirety of the wedding planned out (Well, that's not true. I know what I have to roll during the wedding to see how the wedding turns out.)

Anywho, month 1!
The weeks pass, you receive ravens back from this lord, and that lady, and this landed knight, or this wealthy merchant. Yes, no, I'd love to, can I bring my mistress? Response after Response. Robert says he'll come, to see "if the Molehill's getting as slow as I am", Tywin merely sends back "Certainly". Your father laments that your brother died before seeing this day, but the family will come. The Mountain sends back an "X".
Now that you think of it, you're not certain Ser Clegane can read.

The month proceeds fairly normally, the Hill tribes are adjusting to civilized life. A case comes before you of a Hillman kidnapping a farmer's daughter. The farmer claims his daughter has been raped and abused, but Luuk explains that this is essentially a marriage ceremony among the Hill Tribes. The daughter (roll your perception...Success with 2 degrees) is not unhappy with her current arrangement, but afraid to say so out of seeming improper.

How do you rule?
>>
>>24913498
Reprimand the man, make him give the father something as tribute and tell them that the issue is now behind us.
>>
>>24913548
Second but don't be to harsh with the tribesman they don't really know better yet. Quietly compensating the farmer could also help.
>>
>>24913498
>How do you rule?

Try to get some sort of compromise.

Have Luuk pay the farmer a bit for the damages and tell him that he should ask first, tell the Farmer that the hill tribes are a bit odd still, and maybe tell the daughter that she needs to speak up more.
>>
>>24913591
>tell the Farmer that the hill tribes are a bit odd still

and that it's their culture to be a little wild,

>>

Maester first, then Sept.
>>
>>24914399
This.
>>
>>24914380
Maester we do not want a sept in our "Capital" we had this argument with the first thread.
>>
>>24914399

Yeah. We already got the wedding arrangements out of the way, and a Maester would get here faster to boot. Let's go for the Maester.
>>
>>24914350
Oh right, we have two banner houses don't we?

One for Clamon, and one for the Painted Dogs chief.

How are they doing?
>>
>>24914380
Well, a Sept is rather a critical, but a Maester ought be able to assist as soon as he arrives...
>>
>>24914437
Our banner is going to have the sept. William is not religious and only built the sept in his bannerslands to shut him up.
>>
>>24914346
Like the one from Harrock quest?

Speaking of which, have we had any interaction with Arty Harrock since coming out of our shell?
>>
>>24914361
We don't have access to jewels though just gold.

>>24914345
agreed
>>
>>24914496
Probably not.

We're in the future, so who knows how things will go for Harrock.

Like for all we know, in 1.5 years in Plasma's quest, House Belmore won't even exist anymore.
>>
>>24914496
I think for the purpose of this quest Artys is non-canon.
>>
>>24914539
Hmm...could be.

Or perhaps he still exists, he simply hasn't taken any of the actions that we have in that quest, and as a result is still a distant man with a shitty little holdings and an unloving family.
>>
>>24914584
The important thing is that if he does exist, we're not going to acknowledge him or anything to do with him.

You decide to call for a Maester.
You send the formal request in to the College.

>>24914346
Here you go.

>>24914496
We have not, as Harrock didn't start until after my quest went on hiatus. IF he ever makes an appearance, it will be under the new Star Trek protocol: Harrock quest and Iron and Hate Quest are different canons. Any representation is for this reality only.

>>24914195
You ask Luuk about marriage in the Hill Tribes.

"Is different, Willyam, from tribe to tribe. Even in tribes, changes. My men do it different from Rogar's, who do different from Vil-Ak.Some stuff same."
He counts off on his fingers.
"You take a woman. She yours now. You must feed. If you feed and treat well, she must not kill you." Here he pauses and shrugs a little. " What is well? Differs." He shakes his head a bit. "If you want good marriage, you tell family you coming to take. Then if they no like, you fight. Win, they no argue. If they like, you get girl easy."
"Vil-Ak would give you spirit walk with girl, if you want. Rogar would say find her Song."

He shrugs.
"Tor say if you feed well, take several girls. ."
>>
>>24914622
Well in their quest we exist but are just held up in our lair. It would be nice though if the game masters could get a hold of each other.
>>
>>24914622
That's what Plasma and I agreed on, yes.

My Star Trek line is for if we give each other wiggle room.

I'm personally happy he included us on the map.
>>
>>24914674
Reminds me of the Khazakistan marriage tradition.

Also, knowing the way Rogar finds the song of steel... god damn it that seems like a hilarious series of shenanigans.
>>
>>24914674
Thanks.

Now does that count our banner houses?
>>
>>24914674
I am honestly not sure about how to handle the hills tribes marrying situation...We can't let them continue to steal peoples daughters but at the same time we want them happy...
>>
>>24914674
"Sadly Luuk our marriage traditions are far more boring. It mainly consists of talking to each other, spending time together, and the man slowly courting the woman.

With people more civilized than I am one of two things happens, they either dance around the issue for ages or they just say it's going to happen for political reasons and the courtship is just a formality.

To put it simply many people get rather annoyed if you just take their daughter, perhaps even the violent kind of annoyed, it makes my life complicated. Have they tried bringing a gift to the family first, saying they'd like to steal their daughter and assuring them that they'll take care of her?"
>>
>>24914699
He and I actually talked earlier today in the Quest thread general. He gave me his email, which I haven't used yet, and said he'd check out the thread today.

Alright, another 5d6.
>>
>>24914674
Could ask Rogar what he means by finding her song.

After we're married, we could ask our wife if she'd be up for a spirit walk.

She seems pretty willful, just how we like it.

>>24914786
Oh look another 17
>>
>>24914743
How about compromise, if a hill tribe member and a westerosi want to marry their families meet up and agree on the type of marriage they want.
>>
>>24914743
Maybe insist that, at minimum, they make sure the girl is okay with being taken?

I mean ideally consult with the father as well, but lets not get crazy here.
>>
>>24914807
We do appear to be pretty accepting of their culture.

Like I think our policy essentially amounts to "People in the North literally worship trees with spooky faces carved in them, and everyone accepts it. Who am I to say how people should pray?"
>>
>>24914816
>>24914807
I like >>24914775 a lot that seems the best way to me. I don't want to kill the hill tribes culture but we can't let them run wild and terrorize the people. If for no other reason than because it makes us have to sit through another boring session of court listening to angry farmers when we could be out beating the crap out of people.
>>
>>24914743

We should make integration measures right now. Make trade and communication common, Encourage farming and more permanent settlement. Oh and most important of all, alcohol! That's how to tame the uncivilized savage by turning him into a common drunk.

Small steps for now.
>>
>>24914854
Really we should get the peoples opinion on this, can they deal with a family meet to decide the type of wedding or do they want traditional wedding's only, maybe making hill tribe wedding ceremony common knowledge will help.
>>
>>24914775
This seems like our best bet for dealing with the situation.
>>
>>24914775

Luuk smiles at you.
"Luuk not stupid, Willyam. Luuk has hunted a few city girls. He know how the game played. The looks, the smiles. The winks, the hands"

He continues.

"Yes, most men go to family to talk. They get fathers drunk, make tell stories of old hunts and wars. Get father like them. But many fathers not like men after daughter. Is sometimes necess...necessscary to go around him."

He looks at you critcally for a moment.
"Is like...is like when girl runs away with boy. This is Valemen thing. Except it boy who run away with girl."

>>24914816

He nods.
"Most men, this no bad. Easy normal. Why take girl no want you? Maybe kill you in sleep. Some men, they stupid."

>>24914806
Entertainingly, that's not exactly how it works. ( you have a roil 5, keep 3 in Stewardship) but it does get teh same result.
BOON.
+1d6 to one, OR +1d3 to 2.

Law and Land
>>
>>24914968
Yeah that sounds good.
>>
>>24914952
Oh good, it looks like we were lucky enough to have the most reasonable Hill People tribe in Westeros living on our land.
>>
>>24914952
"Just ask them to avoid making my life too complicated."

Law and Power. Can never go wrong with those.
>>
>>24914952
The laws here are more, harsh. A man who takes a woman who doesnt like them back? If he, defiles her, the law is...

Castration, we take the manhood lock stock and barrel, or send him to the wall. I should teach you of The Wall Luuk, if ever there are hillmen that give us too much trouble, their thick hides could do good there.
>>
>>24914952

You doin' the math there, Page?
>>
>>24915030
Reasonable enough. It's sort of an "insider/outsider" divide.

All those rules are for within the tribes. And yeah, every now and again you killed the girl's father if he didn't agree. Or he killed you. Luuk just didn't think that worth mentioning.

It helps that Luuk figured out he got more women if he played civilized. When the Chief's son is doing something, it gets popular.

Law and Land (2 to one on Land versus power)
Checking bonuses...
None.
Rolling for management...

You gain a +3 to Law, and a +2 to Lands!

You receive another unexpected raven.
The Martells, hearing of your upcoming wedding, are overjoyed for you, and Prince Oberyn himself is riding to participate in your tournament!

Well, this should end well.

And with that, I must call it a night. I have Doctor Who to watch, and a building to secure.

I will return next Saturday, at the same(ish) time.

Feel free to talk in the thread. I'll pop in and out.

I'll submit for an archive in a few minutes.

When will the next thread be, Page?
>>
>>24915262
Man...this is sounding like the wedding of the year. Which is not the best thing tbh.

We are both a new and minor lording, I'm going to predict that this will create a lot of jealousy among our neighbors and older minor Houses...

Obara or Tyrene better not be with him.
>>
>>24915262
Welp I think we should consider the Grand wedding considering a lot of the big time players are showing up. Seriously though when big wigs move a lot of people tend to follow them.
>>
>>24915793
Yeah I have no idea why this is happening.

Is it just because word spread of Tywin and Robert?

And are the Martells inviting themselves the transparent murder threat I perceive it to be?
>>
Just woke up and read the thread.

Stellar performance, Page. Keep up the good work!

Someone needs to archive this, though.

Yes.

"Threat" was an inaccurate word on my part, more "promise".

Also I forget, but did you ever tell us how we killed that one princess?

Like were we professional enough to slit her throat/strangle her/break her neck? Or at least stab her less than five times?
>>
>>24916140

I did not ever tell you how you killed the princess.

I will tell you, if asked.

She did not suffer much, I will tell you.
>>
>>24916195
Oh good.

So they might just use the regular poison instead of the 'you will pray for death' kind.
>>
>>24916195
I think it's better if you don't tell us, kind of like a repression thing. It doesn't really matter, she's still dead.
>>
>>24916195
I kind of would like to know, put it in spoiler tags if need be.
>>
>>24916219
Yeah that's a good point.
>>
>>24916239
We'll probably have to talk about it eventually.

Like someone's going to ask us how it happened.

Might as well wait.
>>
>>24916239
I'm...not good at those.

I'll try it, though.

And if it comes up, I'll alert the thread.

You convinced her you were going to lead her to safety, and when she stepped in front of you, you hit her in the back of the head with your pick. From the front, she looked fine.
