Welcome back to Commissar quest!

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Commissar+quest

Um.. Guys, I am back... ;_;

You are Otto Schulte a twelve year old girl on her way to destiny, you've now spent nearly a day on a planet - the longest you've ever lingered on one in your life, moments ago you entered your new dorm room for the first time!

Last week we freaked out over planet mold, had an introduction to the schola and got ourselves a dorm room!

"What is a commissar!? A pitiful bag of blamming!" - Guardsman Cendril before he was executed for heresy.

Roll rules:

Lowest of first three rolls for things the character is skilled at doing.
Median of first three rolls for things the character is "capable" at.
Highest of first three rolls for things the character is utterly shit at.

You have to "beat" your stats (which for now are hidden by popular demand, this may change) so low rolls are good.

Cont post explained: If there is a post marked at the end with "cont" its becouse your QM is lazy, and can't type fast - or becouse he wants to give you the option to jump into the current events, or offer opinions, if none are offered he'll continue as normal

Disclamer in regards to Re:Spelling: I suck at spelling big time, if anyone actually cares its due to the fact I suffer from Dysgraphia, its the primary reason I got into RP in the first place, trying to practice my spelling. Its not about "don't complain about it!" but rather: "If you've got the time and want to proof read it great! But lets not clog the thread with it, send it to my E-mail! (Yes I do use a spellchecker)

You push open the door to your room and it slides up on well oiled hinges, not a sound is betrayed as it slips to its side, revealing the inside to your eyes, its dark you note - just like the sky outside, has it already entered nightmode? Probably. Stepping inside on uncertain feet you are greeted by the pecuiliar smell of cleaning agents, its a common enough smell, and stings slightly in your nose, a familiar feeling after many years spent helping your aunt wash clothes, but at least it meant your newfound room had been cleaned recently - which was a good thing. Pushing onwards through a short corridor with nothing besides a pair of hooks of whoms purpose you don't know - and a picture of some man you don't recongince hanging in a frame, you are greeted with a rather large room - indeed, you are slightly taken back by the size of your new accomidations, it appears to be a pair of closed of windows on the wall ahead of you, they dominate the entire wall, leaving little space for anything but a large dresser stood stable on the ground.

Turning to scan the rest of the room you notice the two other walls have "beds" pushed up against them on opposit side of one-and-another, they looks rather... large, wide eyes you decide to sneak up on the closest, and push a finger into it... its very soft.
Deciding that resting on said bed is simply put a must, you jump onto of it, feeling your tired body sink into the soft mass, so tired...

So, so tired... you close your eyes for a moment, deciding that resting them for just a moment would be a good thing.

What feels like but a moment later you are suddenly alerted to the sound of a firce alarm going off, rolling out of your bed in panic your eyes shut by a blinding light coming in from the windows - whats happening!? It takes a few moments for you to recover to notice that the light is indeed coming in from the sun! How long did you sleep? Are you late!? The alarm keep at it however, making you ever more worried... alarms are really bad, is the house prepering for warp? No, planets don't do that, do they?

Looking aroung again you notice a small thing on the dressed, a black device - it appears to be giving of the alarm...

>What do we do?

>Inspect device

You shield your ears as you approach the black device, hoping that to learn something of its purpose in order to get a better understanding of what is indeed happening, the trip across the hard rockcret colored floor swift as you begin to recite one of the many litany for safe warp travel almost out of instinct: "Emperor guide my path, protect my humble..." Soon you kneel before the black infernal machine, looking it over - its solid, and appears almost welded to the top of the dresser - a swift poke with a hand (the other currently used for block some of the sound, your free ear crushed against your shoulder) confirms the fact - its sitting alone on the dresser right between the beds, an no other one is in sight.

You turn to the side, trying to see anything in particular on the devices smooth black surface that would indicate its purpose - and indeed, you find a small break in the ever black metal expanse, a small nob of some sort resting alone on its side, you give it a quick flick which turns the alarm off in an instant, leaving your ears ringing as you stand up, its first now that you look at it properly from above you notice a stripe of plasteel that you swore was not there a moment ago shielding a screen glowing faintly - its depicting runes forming a single sentence: "Morning lessons are beginning in thirty minutes" It seems to be a device designed to wake you up!? How odd that they'd have a thing like this, usually the ships just had shift alarms.. you guess planet born people must be forgetful to need something like this to remind them, how silly of them! (Even if you are thankful for its aid now - to which you give it a quick prayer of good function as your uncle taught you)

Now then, you muse - turning around to look out over the room, "What do we do now..?" you still need to find your uniform, and get out of this stained blue dress - and perhaps find your schedule?

You look around the room, deciding that the best thing would be to get out of this dress already - its dirty, sorta sticky and way to constricting for your taste, and feels sort of weird after having slept in it, unlacing the back as you wander around the room trying to find where they'd place your new clothes you are soon reminded of the dresser.. and feel somewhat stupid, unemotionally you push the dress over your head, (folding it up quickly in your hands and dropping it off on the bed) you lean forward to push open the dresser - finding clothes inside .. two piles of seemingly similar ones, making you ponder - who's the other bed for..?

A look on the black device however reminds you that your in a bit of a hurry and you grab at the cloth pile closest to your bed, reasoning that is the one meant for you. Unfolding them reveals the pile is made up of a pair of pants - and a simple jacket of some sort - its front covered in several buttons, stark black the both of them.

You get dressed quickly, feeling refreshed to be out of your dress, but slightly annoyed that the clothes, in particular the jacket seems to be way to big for you, when resting the sleeves fall over your hands, you have to fold them several times.

What was those measurements on the ship for if they could not get this right!

Grabbing your iron-reinforced boots and doning them you stand up again, deciding to look around for your schedule, you can't seem to find it anyway... its first when you are getting slightly worried you notice a data slate resting on the opposite bed, and look to your own, slightly messed up bed and notice a similar one have fallen off it to the ground at the foot end.

Grabbing it and giving it a quick tap you are greeted with a long list of times and places, it appears to be your schedule if your name on the top of it is any suggestion.

You disembark your room, heading into the corridor past it - making sure to close the door behind you after you realize that it won't close by itself.. planets sure are weird. Finding nobody around in the deserted hallway you head from where you came, hoping to stop one of the many maps you've noticed before - something planets did have in common with ships, at least the world seemed to accept all things ought to have maps, true to this statement you soon locate on of the large meter high maps, nothing compared to the ones of a void-ship mind you, and soon follow the pattern you learned the day before - each of the four buildings had a number - like 1-2-3-4-5 each level had a number, and then each door in that level had a number. Where numbers repeated there where runes put in to support them.

Your classroom was in 501:A - the building next door.

Continuing your quest in high spirit you soon exit the building, taking a few steps out into the open area between them, The sun was glaring down overhead, beating you with its intense heat - it was strange to feel it on your skin to be honest, you'd discovered its weird way of pushing onto you while traveling to the schola, but then you'd been protected to a degree by the "trees" this time, there was no such protection, and it was starting to sting slightly, how did these blasted planet born live in a place where there was no temperature control? The fountain was an ever present block in the center of the yard - the massive structure of water-spewing saints and imperial heroes always offering something new to look at, and distracted as it was you nearly don't spot the double heretic Lak standing just a few paces away with a few other boys.

You snort, the double heretic is not worth your time at all, so you push ahead - please by the fact he does not notice you, the trek across the remaining space is quick as you soon fall in with the crowd growing in front of building number five, walking together with them up the large stairs, inside you are greeted with a singular hall long wide corridor with several stairs leading upwards, and adjacent corridors leading away, following your internal map you tuck in with the crowd heading up the first level and soon exit out on the second floor. The path spreading out before you now was bustling as you turned around to walk through it, several people where rushing around between classrooms carrying books and bags, pushing your way through you are hit and shoved several times - but you did not really mind it, it felt homey to be in a tight space again and you soon took to folding your elbows upwards and protection yourself while plowing through.

Yes, it was almost like home, almost.

Regardless, despite a few new bruises - you're soon finding yourself standing before room 512:A, your classroom, pushing open the door - for once again, it seemed automated doors where a thing planets just did not have (how primitive) inside was a much larger room then you'd first presumed, a scene with a large desk constructed a rich dark colored material - stood right ahead, but further in the rest of the large room was filled up with rows upon rows of higher-and-higher seats with benches, designed no doubt your logical mind assumed to allow you to see the center piece no-matter where you where, you notice several students are already seated - one of them in particular you notice.. nikkobar, seated at the far back - and also Angelina, seated just a few rows back from the front - she's not noticed you yet, and seems preoccupied with her data-slate.

>What do we do?

>Head for random seat.

You ascend the stairs leading up between the breaks between the seats, parting the room into three different sections, slightly bent around the "scene" in the middle, the tall roof above you illuminated with several layers of lamps, and you notice a series of skull probes appears to be carrying a large banner of some sort, slowly moving it back and forth high above your head, the brass-gilded benches and connected tables spreading out around you like an ocean you hone in on your friends seat, she's positioned near the middle of one, but thankfully seems to be alone on the row for now - indeed, it appears the room is slightly underpopulated, you estimate there to be only about sixty or so students, are more coming?

As you make your way towards her in the tight space between bench and table she turns to look at you with a smile, moving the books she had resting on the bench to the other side, you slide down next to her and offer your good morning, she responds in kind before noting "Your jackets to big" holding up her own, that seems to fit her much better. "Oh?" she perks up at this but you decide to cut it down quickly with a "So, found any room mate yet?" before she begins asking questions, you've kept your name secret long enough, no need to flaunt it around.. schulte was good enough. She raises an eyebrow at you but after awhile responds "Yes, younger girl - she's not old enough to enter the schola yet and is doing pre-school training it seems, from a local system - Did not have time to talk to her much yesterday, you?"
"No such luck, another empty bed - but there was two sets of clothing, perhaps whomever was suppose to be there did not make it to the schola?" you respond thoughtfully while correcting your seating, at least the jacket acted like extra padding bellow you on the hard benches, that was something - still you felt silly. "Could be" Angelina responds, you are about to continue when the doors swing open again hard, and a short man steps inside clad in a long coat and a red cap...

"Good morning students, I am Commissar Ivan Etrik and I will be your history teacher, but before we begin todays lessons I will take attendance, I want to know how many of my class failed to reach the schola yesterday - if you hear your name, shout "here"."

The man proceeds to throw his bag on the desk and fish out a data slate from his breast pocket, tapping through it for a moment, allowing you a moment to look him over, he's short - but probably still a head taller then you but is very strongly built, its hard to guess his age but judging from his face he's at least over fifty, strains of gray flowing out from the few strands of hair you can see bellow his cap.

You bite your lip before standing up and calling out "here", the man tilts his head upwards to look at you and remains silent for a moment you can see his brow sinking even from your position, you hear him click his tongue before he replies: "I said otto schulte, I can tell the difference between a boy and a girl lass." you sigh, as you hear some giggling coming in from behind you - you can't turn to look at it yet - but you vow to find whom-ever was sitting there and break their noses, you've had to explain this several times to many people over the years but steel yourself and continue: "No, you don't understand sir - the administratum did a mess up with my papers... I am otto schulte, my person ID is 45-25:A-14, I was born on the planet Ran'tal and spent most my life onboard The Rangers Talent traveling here..."

The man looks at you, and remains silent before he lets out a chuckle, followed by most of the room bursting into similar laughing, you take particular note of nikkobar who's nearly falling of his chair in laughter .. the bastard is getting another broken nose...

"Well" the capped man manages to get out after a few moments "Sit down then.. Miss Schulte, and we'll continue the class"

Sinking down on your seat you let your head hit the table in front of you, .. even the teacher laughed at you, guess uncle Eric was wrong in saying nobody would think it was silly... almost feeling like just running away you feel a light tap on your shoulder and turn around to face Angelina, she looks like she's trying to hold back her giggle, but have not so far actively laughed at it.

"That what you mean by messing up before?"

>How do we respond?
>>
>>26271570

"yes. now never speak of this again. My name is Schulte, No More, No Less..."

we then proceed to ignore EVERYONE who calls us Otto. possible exception for teachers...
>>
>>26271570
"Not so much as a snort."
"But yeah, that and more. When I'm Commissar, I won't tolerate that kind of sloppiness."
-100000000 Schulte points to Nikkobar, current score so negative it cannot be shown.
+3 Schulte points to Angelina for restraint.
>>
>>26271570
Nod head forlornly, thank her for holding back her laughter.

(It's official, we've found our bro4lyfe)
>>
>>26271570
Well she's making an effort so I guess she's not an enemy.

Give her a nod and start silently pouting.
>>
>>26271646
Absolutely. Of course, so far...there isn't really any competition since everyone else friendly we've met are out in space.
(Commissar mentioned Angelina rolled some pretty amazingly compatible traits with Otto, so yeah she's pretty BFF. Unless her remaining unseen ones are deal-breakers I guess...)
>>
If Schulte ever has children, she is going to have to name them with the most gender-accurate names ever.......

and call any problem Guardsmen the inverse of their names. (i.e. John -> Jane)
>>
>>26271701

Nikkobar -> Nichole

Lak -> Lucy
>>
>>26271701
I'm not sure Commissars are big on the whole 'family thing'. By the time this quest's over she'll be lucky not to be so disillusioned and PTSD-riddled that she can maintain positive relationships at all. Of course, preventing that is our job!

That said, I'd say it depends on her mentality once we get to the 'minion guardsmen' point. I could see her going full 'everything must be correct' mode instead (and torn between repulsion and sympathy for everyone she meets with gender-neutral names).
>>
>>26271748

true, Though I feel she would probably address them by family name....

Some day the mystery of 'lady' will be known.
>>
>>26271851

Probably she was the daughter of a hive world noble family, her family got blammed due to nobilities fascination with slaneesh, then she got shipped off here after being prooved clean of any chaos taint.... you know, the usual...
>>
You know, I've just realised... WE ARE IN THE BOYS DORM!!!

It all makes sense now..... good thing we don't have a room-mate......

Hopefully the Schola is better than the administratium at sorting these things out...

"Deal" you state with a slight grin, happy to have share a mutual deal with a friend for the first time, righting yourself you fish out the your data slate, deciding you might as well get into the swing of things, this was suppose to be a lesson after all right? Deciding to refocus your attention at the teacher you await his continual counting of people, the air gets a slight smell of incense for a moment as you notice a group of skull probes entering in from far above, no doubt some hidden access point allowed them to travel among the rooms to tend to lights and bless the area - it was common on ships as well, some where even big enough for you to crawl through, you remember several instances of this in the past during hide and seek games.

The lesson soon takes course however as the tiny man breaks into speech, he begins quickly with talking of the importance of history - you make dutiful notes during his speech - and even manage to get the question he asks you among the raised hands right with "It was the vessel "Impertacian" - when he asked about which ship assaulted Larin during the famous "No'til crusades" just a few hundred years ago, remembering it from a book you read that uncle Eric stuck to you.

In the end you are sure you spend a few hours inside the room, but you did not mind thirsty as always for information you manage to stick with him for most of it - even if you did catch yourself with a need to run several times... it was interesting and all but siting still for so long was tiring, was it always going to be like this?

Before long however a bell calls out, and everyone beings to stand up as you hear the tiny man yell out "And remember: Next lesson we will being properly with the pre-crusade age" Angelina turns to you with a quick poke in the side before going:

>Con

He caught on, good work
>>

Oh... that makes sense. I bet a few girls died in the woods and opened up a spot for us in the girls dorm though, no biggie.
>>
>>26271952
That doesn't explain the jacket though, since they took measurements and weren't just guessing.

Still, if we have our own bathroom and never get a room-mate it won't matter much. If not we complain.

"Come on, we've got to hurry, we've got a lunch break before practical!" Angelina states while urging you to move towards the stairs, sealed as she is behind you. "Practical?" you respond slightly befuddled "Did you not read the slate? Morning lessons is theoretical, lunch, then we've got practical, followed by another theory lesson, dinner, then sleep" flicking up your own slate as you fall in behind her you notice that indeed, she's right - next up after lunch if "P:Marksman ship, active dueling" - the P was no doubt for practical, but what did they mean with dueling..? Your thoughts are interrupted however as both you and Angelina exits the lesson hall and into the large corridor, windows reached out towards the yard and benches put up with regular intervals, its mostly empty save the sight of Nikkobar and his oafs standing before you, grinning widely "Hey Otto, nice jacket" he grins folding his arms - you do notice his broken nose appears to have been fixed again, but you see an ever-so-slight bend to it that was not there before.

>How do we respond?

"Oh, hello there Nikkobar" you state looking him straight in the face ""See that the medicaes reset your nose, shame they couldn't do anything about your face." his smile dims quickly as he narrows his eyes at you "Ye think your funny don't you? Perhaps I should just break your nose!" you shake your head slightly at this before going "You could try, but my friends here" - you stomp your iron-clad boots into the ground - "would no doubt be getting at you again, you big oaf!" He grunts before going: "I'd like to see you try "Otto" " it stings slightly the way he pronounces it but before you can get anything more out of the conversation the teacher steps out of the classroom, narrowing his eyes at the both of you "Why are you lingering? Get to where you're suppose to be already!" - force apart by a greater power the two groups split, Angelina falls in behind you as Nikkobars and his oafsquad heads the other way, "He really is a bastard, isn't he?"

"Sure is" you state firmly "He's always been a big oaf, been getting on my nerves ever since I got onboard The Rangers Talent and told him off for scaring the kids"

The two of you exit the building and soon walk across the yard - noticing to your delight that there is no sign of lak, or any other heretic. Pushing your way towards the lunch building you hear Angelina ask you: "So, ever had ice cream?" to which you reply "No.. what is that?" she gives you a "You're in for a treat, I saw they where serving it after dinner tonight - its good" - you nod at this.. planets had strange food.. but eating ice? That seemed weird.. still there was that odd "stew" thing you had - but perhaps that paste was just a fluke? Regardless you follow Angelina towards the lunch hall in high spirits, the trip leaves you with some space to talk however.

>Do you wish to talk to Angelina during the trip there?

You casually remark on the many bastards you've encountered so far, noting in particular Nikkobar and Lak, to which she replies with a "Its just because your to judgmental Schulte, you really should try and get along better!" you sigh and say "I'll start being civil when they get their heads out of their behinds - your just to kind Angelina, that's the issue, regardless - you know where I can pick up a new jacket?""No clue actually, guess you'd have to talk to a teacher right?" you lift your gaze onto the larger central building at this, slightly blinded by the sun far above that already seems to be setting ever so slightly - the day cycle on Besvir sure was quick, but it was delivering some much needed cold to the ground. "Guess I'd better, perhaps I could find one after practical - the dinner break is nearly an hour long after all" Angelina chips in with a "Yeah, I think its suppose to cover personal time as well, I could come with you - would give us a chance to look the schola over, there is an awful lot to see"

Parting to avoid an incoming group of students you are reunited shortly and continue as you walk across the large yard "So - know anything about dueling?" "Well, I .. sort of do - its where you fight another person, and only one wins.. its part of the noble houses guess they are doing it for us to train fighting.." "Eh? Sounds dangerous.. " you respond, slightly distressed "I mean, what if you hurt someone to bad..?" "Duels are usually to the death Schulte, but I'd wager they won't let us kill each other off right..?"

After the whole wood incident you can only shudder. "Lets hope not, and if we are - lets pray I get up against Nikkobar - I've knocked him off his feet before!" smiling as you appear before the mess hall structure the two of you ascend the stairs together - getting crushed in with the crowd, noticing however the pressure and amount of people are less then they where last time.

>And with that, Commissar quest ends for tonight
>>
>>26272933
Dueling is totally gonna be to the death, isn't it.
>>
>>26272968

not from the begining... but eventually... kind of like we start with soft, then onto hard, then onto sharp then onto power....

>Going to bed midnight on a Saturday in the middle of summer.
Shit man, what are you doing.

Anyway, Nikkobar - asshole, or misunderstood?
Lek - really a government spy?
Angelina - will she die in dueling to fuel our increasing number of negative relationships with whoever kills her?
>>
>>26273016
It's okay, I'll just have to not sleep through half the day next time!

And still love the quest man, keep up the good work.
>>
>>26273014
I thank you Anon for the kind words - The next quest is due next week like usual at GMT+1 19.30 saturday, same channel same time, etc. I sadly don't have the time to get going for more stuff.

>>26273070
I've sadly got to get up in the morning around six to coax old disel engines into working and selling tickets.(Lets leave that at that)

Anyway to answer your questions in no partical order:

Can't say.
Possible.
Probably.
>>
>>26273070

Nikkobar - possibly hiveworlder scum, liable to become stormtrooper. Possible Rival as we do not yet seek his blood.

Lek - Administratium agent, liable to become an inquisitiorial adept... Liable to be part of Angelina's potential death, liable to be killed by or attempted to be killed by Schulte.

Angelina - daughter of either executed or overthrown noble family. liable to become a Sister Hospitalis or die for character development... the latter is more likely...
>>
>>26272933
Excellent as always, Commissar! Looking forward to going up agains the Big Bads at some stage (I am of course referring to the Administratum).

Anyway, I kind of agree with what Angelina said about getting along. In Lak's case, at least. I feel that if we hadn't made a fool of ourselves to him on the shuttle and followed that up with a grievous insult to him, we probably wouldn't be enemies with him right now.
>>
>>26273225
Here's where I throw you a curveball and make Nikkobar into a Sister of battle.

>>26273236
Our most grand enemy at this time is a man with a pencil in a scroll room! And you guys sorta lucked out when I rolled up Angelinas personality for sure.
>>
>>26273236
Eh, I kinda like it. No need to play that goody and understanding. Plus, we're a 12yo sheltered kid, so while his initial indignance is understandable, he could have just let it go after the trip, or at the very least merely avoided/ignored us.

There are plenty of kids here to befriend.
