So! no real news- bet you expected some here after a week off, didn't you! haha. There's this thread, then one more planned- this one will probably have a lot of fairly large timeskips, I know how you guys love those (hahahaha!)Sorry about the late start, too. Archives here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Strike%20witches%201989And, again, sorry about the late start. I'd planned to do a regular run, so we might run long tonight. ++It's snowing pretty heavily out there, you think, taking another sip of coffee. The winter weather is actually bad enough that the plant and airfield have been closed- which doesn't bother you, really, since you're ahead of the game at work. Truth be told, you like the test pilot job you landed here at McDonnell- even though it's necessitated a move to St. Louis, it's good money, and you enjoy the work. Lately you've even been back in the P-67, the new C version. The wartime variant you flew was produced, briefly, as the B- the C is more heavily armed with 20mm cannon, and no .50 machine guns. A few minor aerodynamic changes were also installed- slightly longer wings, fuel tanks moved around- things that do make it handle differently, but not necessarily worse. Ilyena's still sleeping, you think- you haven't heard her get up yet, and you're pretty sure you would have- the pregnancy has made her significantly louder. You still wonder at that- you, a father. You'd have never guessed it would happen, especially not now. The baby's due practically any day now- you've already got a pair of bags packed for the hospital set by the door. 1/2
You glance back over your shoulder when you hear the unmistakable sounds of your wife starting to wake up- she claims she's not miserable, buy can't see how that's true. Then again, you're not her, so you don't plan to disagree with her, either. You're not really sure what to do- she's snapped at you a couple of times for trying to do things like help her down the stairs, but you're told that's normal, and to not really put any stock into it. You haven't- and besides, you'd rather get snapped at than have something happen. Which brings you back to the winter weather. It's not a whiteout, not by a long shot, but it's not exactly beautiful driving conditions, either. You've already put chains on the truck tires, and loaded some bags of sand in the bed, though, just for insurance. The roads aren't bad yet, but they're getting there. Idly, you wonder when the whole flying cars thing is going to happen- it'd make life so much easier, you think. You hear Ilyena padding into your office while you think. “John,” She says, one hand on her belly as you turn to face her. “I think it's time.” You nod, helping her down the stairs carefully and getting her set in the truck, under a couple of blankets, before running back in and getting your bags, tossing them in the cab before backing out of the driveway and heading to the hospital. Thankfully, the drive isn't too bad, and before too long, they're helping your wife into a wheelchair before wheeling her off to the delivery room. A nurse comes down shortly after. “Mr. Kaza- Kazi- K” She looks at you helplessly. “Kazanski.” You say, with a small smile. She nods. “Sorry Mr. Kazanski. Would you like to come up? I'm sure your wife would appreciate it.”[] Yeah, I'll come on up. [] I can't do hospitals- I'll stay in the waiting room.
>>29065418>[x] Yeah, I'll come on up.Why is this even a option? Hell yesh, try to control the nervousness. Best night of the week!

>>29065389>[X] Yeah, I'll come on up.We are proud father. We have defended our waifu with fire and steel in the Hell of the Martian War. We have thrown ourselves against the best they had to offer, and triumphed. We have shattered the resolve of innumerable German pilots over the trenches of France during the World War. We strap ourselves to a ticking time bomb and hurl ourselves against the best physics and the laws of God have to offer. We are John Kazanski, and the only thing we fear is our wife being pissed at us, or something happening to her.

>>29066034Of course not. Despite our best wishes, she remains a teenager. And that means hormones.

Slider with a shit eating grin on her face considering she had the more innocent dream out of the trio. and somewhere very very far away we peak into a certain crazy russain witch, who's dream consist of very patriotic music with a man carrying her to bed
>>29066240She just turned 16, iirc. But yes, the rest of that.

[x] Yeah, I'll come on up.You nod, hardly even taking a second to think it over. “Yeah, I'll come on up- will our bags-”She nods before you finish. “We'll drop them off to her room.”You nod, satisfied. She leads you through the twisting corridors of the hospital building, finally arriving at the delivery room and handing you a mask. “Just keep to the one side, ok?” She says, as you slip the mask on around your mouth- resisting the urge to adjust it so it's properly seated for high-altitude flight. She catches the arrested motion and smiles. “Pilot?”You nod, distractedly. “With the eighth, during the war.” She nods. “My brother was a B-17 pilot, is that what you flew?” You shake your head. “I flew the Bat.” A look of confusion crosses her face for a second “The ba- Oh! I had no idea, I didn't recognize you! My brother has some pictures of that plane though, from raids over France. Aren't they built here?”You nod. “McDonnell, yeah.” She smiles. “Well, isn't that something. I'll have to tell my brother I met you. Anyway, please stick to one side, and just stay out of the way, ok? It's all very routine, but...” She trails off with a shrug. “No problem.” You say, following her into the delivery room. The doctor- a tall, skinny guy with a pair of round spectacles, is pulling on his gloves as you walk in. “Well, Missus.. ha... kaza- kazin- uh... K. I'm sure we'll have this done in about an hour.” “How is that?” Ilyena asks, taking your offered hand- your left, which doesn't really need to be fully functioning for you to do your job, since it just handles the throttles... usually. The doctor smiles- you see the corners of his cheeks lift under his mask. “I have a hockey game in two hours.”1/2
True to his word, it takes a relatively short period of time, you're told- 45 minutes, and everything is fairly easy and routine, all told. You get a chance to see your son but briefly before they haul him off to do their thing- but he's back in a couple minutes, bundled in a blanket and dry- though this time they hand him directly to Ilyena. “I think that William is a fine name.” She says, after a moment. “William Nicholas Kazanski.” You nod, happy that she agrees- William, for your father, Nicholas, for hers. “It's a fine name.” you echo. She sits in silence for another minute, holding the baby, before speaking again. “I am sorry, darling.” She says, suddenly. “I didn't get you a Christmas present.” You smile. “Sure you did.” You say, indicating your son. “The best I think I've ever gotten.” Of course, they eventually come to take your newborn son down to the nursery- only for a short while, since he seems healthy and vital. Someone else comes along to wheel Ilyena to her room, with you following along. 2/3 (oops)
“It's just overnight, Ma'am.” The nurse says, after coming in to check on the board at the foot of the bed. “This is honestly one of the easiest times we've had of it. Doctor Watkins doesn't even think we should have to keep you overnight, but it's policy.” Ilyena nods, tiredly. “That's fine,” She says. “I'm quite tired now, though.” The nurse nods, with a smile. “Of course. We've brought up some extra blankets, Mister Kazanski. No visitation past a certain hour, but in this case, we'll make an exception. Just keep it down, ok?” You nod, reaching into your bag for one of the books you brought- you'd thought you'd be in a waiting room much longer. “And congratulations.” The nurse adds, just before stepping out and closing the door. “John, you can go home, if you wish.” Ilyena says, tiredly. “I'm sure that they'll let me call before they let me out, and someone should be home to keep an eye on the house. I'd hate to get home and find the water pipes burst.”[] If you want, I'll head home, yeah. [] I'd rather stay.

[x] I'd rather stay. “I'd rather stay.” You say, sitting down. “If you're worried about the pipes, I can have Hank go over and check them.”She makes a face. “I wasn't. I was more worried about you. Sleeping in a chair isn't going to be good for your back.”You grin. “I think that's the first time you've ever been worried about my back going out.”She adjusts her head on her pillow and closes her eyes. “I'm worried about your back because of that.”You laugh, quietly. “Well, I think it's fine. Besides, we're not going to have time anymore, we've got a son.”“Mhmm.” She says, and she's asleep a minute later. You decide to read- now's as good a time as any. While Edgar Allen Poe is far from your favorite author- you just don't quite seem to react the same way to his writing as a lot of people who suggest him to you- he's got a few poems and stories you actually enjoy enough. You'd prefer Shakespeare, but you take what you can get, and this was the first book you grabbed. You're about a third of the way through the thousand and second tale of Scheherazade when you nod off to sleep. You're woken up by the nurse, pushing the curtains back to let in the bright morning light- the snowstorm cleared off overnight, and the sky is a cold, hard blue, the sun, shrunken though it is, shining with a clear light, that kind that only winter seems to bring. “Good morning, Mister and Miss Kazanski.” She says. “The doctors think that you'll be good to go home today. Your son is the healthiest baby they've seen in years, they say.” She smiles. “Congratulations to the both of you.”1/2
It does take a few hours- but they decide, after a while, that your son really is quite healthy, even with as little as he still is, they've no need to keep him there any longer than they already have. So, bundled up, you carry Ilyena's bags down to the truck, while she carries your newborn son, wrapped up in blankets. The drive home is easy- the roads are mostly clear and, this close to Christmas, people really don't want to be out driving around anyway. He sleeps most of the way home, and stays asleep when you arrive- Ilyena carries him up to the nursery while you gather the mail and check the basement- the pipes, unsurprisingly, were fine. You join her up in the nursery for a minute, just looking at your son, watching him sleep, and trying to imagine what he'll be. You're certain he'll end up like you- a fighter pilot through and through. Flying is in his blood, you know that- between his mother and you, he scarcely has a chance for a ground-bound occupation. You grin when you remember the two-seat conversion bat sitting on the pad at the plant- you can get a head start on getting him flying if it's around in a few years. Eventually, You and Ilyena head downstairs, letting your son sleep. She takes a seat in the den, turning on the radio set, while you head into the kitchen and grab some leftovers. Preparing a couple of plates, you carry them into the den, sitting down with her. After a few minutes, She sighs. “John, I've been thinking. I need to tell you something.”[] Tell me what?[] I think I already know- and Quentin isn't the best person with secrets, incidentally.

>>29068841Jesus Fucking Christ. I am so sick and tired of seeing this. I'm going to explain a fucking thing or two.World War II proved that American interaction with the world was necessary. Truman's dislike of Communism and Stalin personally led to the breech between East and Western Blocs. This, in addition to our anti-Soviet post WWII land grab, led to an irreparable breech. With me so far? Good. Now, our foreign policy consisted of "Fight communism wherever it takes hold." Better to fight over there than over here. That still holds true. Our leaders would rather little Afghani kids fucking die in their streets than little American kids die in our streets. Our foreign forces are our line in the sand. They are the reason most nations fear us. Because American foreign policy and American ambassadors have one huge sticking backing them up: The might of the US Military. The current population of the USA is about 320 million people. To break it down in large, easy to handle chunks of numbers, say half of those are men. That's 160 million men. Let's break it down further. Let's say only a third of those are military drafting age, fitness not withstanding. You can be guaren-goddamn-teed that Army or Marine basic training during a time of war will get rid of the fat fucks and turn them into killers.So. The USA has roughly 80 million men it can call upon to take a war to an enemy, if she needs her sons to do so.Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq have proven one thing to the rest of the world: America would rather send her sons to die in foreign fields, spend billions of dollars to get them and keep them there, and waste years of her sons' lives, in order to combat an enemy. Because better over there than over here. If I could go back and enlist again, I fucking would.(1/2)
>>29068992(2/2)I'd rather kill both my knees, lose three years of my life to deployment, and play hares and hounds with bullets with an enemy on their own territory, that knows what they're doing, than see an American child dead in American streets by an enemy car bomb, or suicide bomber, or indirect artillery fire. Better over there than over here.
>>2906899250 million men* not 80.
>>29068992>>29069010lolpatriots
>>29068928Dunno I get the impression that Ghost had certain things happen just for the sake of familarity/setting up the overly stereotypical 80's jet flick theme.>>29068992Or to make money in the case of Iraq and Afghanistan (it's not coincidence that both areas have plenty of oil)That and Vietnam was basically the US butting into french business for what amounts to a sizable loss, not to mention the "warm" welcome 'nam vets got from the population. Not to mention the end result was the same as if the US didn't but in.It's pretty bad enough certain politicans wish for a repeat of WW2 in some twisted notion it'd cure America's ails.
>>29069010>>29068992All that is beside the point. Vietnam WAS pointless. We were only dragged into the war because France threatened to torpedo NATO if we didn't (THANKS AGAIN YOU FROG BASTARDS, I HOPE ALGERIA MULTICULTURALIZES THE SHIT OUT OF YOU). Ho Chi Minh WANTED to be our friend after WW2. He desperately wanted to be on the US' good side. Have you read how the independence ceremony went? Their declaration was a near perfect copy of our own, they were playing The Star Spangled Banner, and there were Stars and Stripes everywhere. In 1945, Vietnam was practically begging to be our bitch, and the French made us fuck it up.
>>29069085Bull shit. Bull fucking shit. If we did do it for the money then it would have been worth it. But we didn't. We don't get any additional resources out of it. No additional revenue (except contracting work). That's it. Please look this shit up before you start making bullshit claims.
>>29069085>both areas have plenty of oilNo they don't. The majority of the oil in the Near East is held by Saudi Arabia, who provides plenty of oil to America. Canada has more oil than either of those places, and Canada provides America with much of its oil needs.Money was made in Afghanistan by PMCs more than by oil companies.
[x] Tell me what?“Tell me what?” You ask, reaching over to turn down the radio. She sighs. “I-” she pauses, looking for the words she wants. “My Name- my given name- is not Ilyena. It is Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova. My father was Tzar Nicholas II.”You sit back. “You're- “She nods. “I have the last legitimate claim to the throne of Russia.” She shakes her head, before you say anything. “I don't wish to claim it. The people made it abundantly clear what they thought of our leadership during the revolution. Let them have their madman, I don't care.” She practically spits. “But it means our son will also have a claim, and will be of...” she pauses. “It will be of interest to those people if it becomes known.” She says. “Especially if they believe he might make a claim to the throne or be used as a rallying point for a revolution. I want a better life than that for our son.”“What about you?” You ask. “You say you don't care, but...”“I am Ilyena Kazanski, now.” She says, emphatically. “Not Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova. I am just a witch who had the great fortune of meeting a wonderful man during a terrible war and being able to marry him.” She smiles. “Even if I did not quite bring him home with me.” “I don't think we should tell our son who he is, at least, not right away.” She says. “Young children can boast, and I don't wish him to attract attention, especially not of that sort. Merry Christmas, Ghost!
So.... Is John Russian Orthodox? Were he and Ilyena married in the Russian Orthodox church? Will their son William be baptized in the faith? All this is important to the issue of the throne, you know. Also, Merry Christmas my fellow fans of pantsless girls doing cute things and then fighting things!
>>29069956>All this is important to the issue of the throne, you know. Not if Putin is PM.
>>29069956They had a big public wedding in NYC. That alone points out he isn't Orthodox.
>>29069982I hope Putin can exert enough influence over Parliament or whatever the fuck it is to get them to change the marriage and inheritance laws for the throne, Anon.>>29069990See above.
>>29070003Putin can do whatever the fuck he wants if he's taking over the government by removing Stalin via coup.Rewrite the Duma's succession law of 1916? Sure, what the fuck ever.
[x] I agree, it's not worth it, not yet. You nod. “I agree, it's not worth it, not yet.” Ilyena sighs, nodding. “I'm glad you agree. I wish we didn't have to do this to our son, but the risk is too great. The proof for my claim, by the way, is in the witch hold at St.Petersburg and in my belongings in the chest downstairs.” She smiles. “Even the soviets won't dare attempt to enter a holding without permission, and the matrons there were loyal to my family. If it ever becomes necessary, they can verify our family's claim.”“Well.” You say, after a minute of relative silence- the radio's still on, but turned down low like it is, you can barely hear whatever's playing. “I guess that means that I'll have to step up my christmas gifts, huh?”She smiles. “Hardly, darling. I'm the same person as I always was, just... I guess now you know more of my past.”You smile and stand up. “Nonsense!” you say, holding out your hand and helping her out of her seat on the couch. “I can't be giving you just anything, now that I know you're royalty and all. C'mon, Let's go see if your present is up to par.”“John, I don't want you to treat me any differently.” She insists. You laugh. “I didn't plan to, really, I just wanted to have a chuckle. Though I really do hope you like your present. Took some work and me calling up a few friends.” 1/2 (probably)
Out in the garage- which you've had to work very hard to clean up and clear out, is a brand new striker rack. On the rack are Ilyena's wartime strikers- You'd called Camille, who'd tracked them from Templehof back to Wattisham, then to a temporary depot near Castle Barin, and from there to another depot near London, where they were slated for the scrapyard. Camille managed to work a few favors for you, and had them sent home with some of the last aircraft ferry transports- where the company had gladly picked them up for you and had them brought out on a train from the east coast. “You found my- oh John, thank you!” She says, hugging you, then walking around the rack wonderingly, one hand's fingertips brushing the metal. You smile, reaching behind a pile of firewood to pull out her rifle- an American-made M1 Garand, one she'd acquired almost as soon as she could, ditching her soviet-issued gear as she could- even her strikers are the redoubtable P-51 model. You hand her her rifle, keeping a slight smile on your face as she takes it and turns it over, wonderingly, in her hands. “Y-you even found my....”2/3 ( I lied)
You two had left the country so fast that, unlike a lot of other witches, she hadn't had time to arrange to keep her equipment. You know exactly where your bat went- in fact, you saw it just yesterday, both the wartime bats having been transferred to the McDonnell plant here so they could work on the design. While she never really said much about it, you knew how much it bothered her- she, like anyone else, developed attachments to her equipment, and not knowing what happened to it was hard enough on her. Finding the rifle had been less of a trick- It was at Wattisham as well, Camille had the foresight to grab it before it could be shipped off to a depot. “None of it's been demilled, by the way.” You say, Indicating her strikers and her rifle. “It's all just as functional as the day we left it.”“John, this is....” She says, tears forming at the corners of her eyes as she hugs you tightly. “Thank you.” For your family's first Christmas together, you can't help but think it goes pretty well.

>>29070384It's not that long, although it SHOULD be by this point.*January 2, 1943, Krondstat*"Just how much time are we going to waste doing nothing?!"Mackintosh didn't even look up from lighting his post-breakfast cigarette. "Welcome to the military, Lawrence. By the time you get out, you'll have a Phd in Waiting.""That's beside the point," insisted his Marine companion. "All we've done for a week is sit here, tied alongside these rustheaps the Reds call 'battleships'!""Admiral Berustov is a cautious man. He wants his ships close at hand in case the squids attack. Besides," He gestured to the ice sheet that covered the harbor. "We need an icebreaker to even shift in port, let alone sail out.""But denying us leave as well?!""Admiral Berustov is a VERY cautious man.""He's a coward," growled Wright through his smoke."No disagreement there," nodded Mackintosh through his.
>>29070538The California lay tied up at the Soviet Navy base on Krondstat, moored astern of the two battleships that made up the bulk of the Soviet Navy presence in the Baltic: the Marat and the Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya. There were rumors that a new modern battleship was nearing completion in a Leningrad shipyard; since they had been confined to their ship, nobody had been able to confirm them. The two men looked up as a Kriegsmarine Dornier flying boat went rumbling overhead. The Germans at least were fortunate enough to be based in Leningrad proper along with their Army Group; the common opinion amongst the Marine detachment was that the Soviets were just glad to have tens of thousands of extra bodies to take the brunt of the masers and spiral rockets."So, how are Admiral Lee and Captain Stone taking it?" inquired Wright."What, being at the whims of an overly-cautious foreign admiral?" replied Mackintosh. "Well... not really that well. The Captain just hates being ordered to sit here in port when the enemy is about," He stifled a yawn before continuing."Admiral Lee, on the other hand? Well, the less I repeat what he said about Admiral Kimmel and President Roosevelt the better. He was under the impression that he'd be commanding an independent squadron under the overall command of the Baltic Fleet, not a handful of ships under the direct command of a Soviet admiral. Said admiral having received his post through Party connections made it all the worse.""I can understand that," grumbled Wright. "Say, did anything important come up on the Brotherhood front?"
>>29070563***Admiral Mikhail Berustov grumbled at his desk. A commissar had just walked into his office, and he hadn't even managed to take his morning slug of vodka. As the zampolit stalked across the room, the admiral darkly mused to himself that if he knew he was going to have to deal with this he would have just chugged the whole damn flask. The commissar reached the desk, and then paused, staring out the window. "It is a beautiful day, is it not, Comrade Admiral?""It's colder than Frau Doenitz' tit," growled Admiral Berustov under his breath."Ah, but the sun is out, and it's a clear blue sky!" replied the commissar with mock cheer in his voice. "It's too nice a day to keep the men cooped up in their ships," His voice became as cold as the weather outside. "Which leads me to the question of why the Americans are being treated like they are under house arrest, locked up tight in idle vessels."
>>29070595"Because I can hardly trust them!" snarled Berustov right back. "The Capitalists are our enemies for decades, and then suddenly you want me to take them into my forces like nothing has happened? And then let them roam freely about the biggest naval base in the CCCP?!" He stood up and leaned forward over his desk. "And what's more, I did not even WANT them. I do not NEED them. I have no need for an extra battleship and two more superfluous destroyers! The Martians have cowed away from the Baltic ever since 1941. Sending these Capitalists here serves no purpose other than to piss me off! Why not send them to Admiral Golovko in the Northern Fleet? I'd think he'd have more need for them keeping the Arctic convoys safe than I would in my lake.""It doesn't matter what you think, Comrade Admiral," coolly replied the commissar. "It only matters what Comrade STALIN thinks. And he thinks that he needs a bigger naval presence here in the Baltic. President Roosevelt was courteous enough to not only agree to Comrade Stalin's request for assistance, but to also send a capital ship immediately with more on the way," Some heat found its way into the man's voice. "Those ships are here at the benevolence of President Roosevelt and the hospitality of Comrade Stalin, and as such they WILL be treated with the respect guests of the CCCP deserve.""It doesn't matter what Comrade Stalin thinks!" roared the admiral. "He is not here, I am! This is MY fleet! I and I alone will decide how the units that make up my fleet are dispersed and treated!""Do you wish for Comrade Stalin to be here, Comrade Admiral?" softly asked the commissar.
>>29070613The two men stared each other down over the admiral's desk for what seemed like an eternity. Several heartbeats later, the commissar broke the silence. "Yes?"The young ensign who had been trying very hard to hide behind the thin end of a door audibly gulped. "A sighting report, C-c-comrades. Nothing too important, it's from one of the German flying boats anywa-""It is? Bring it here," ordered the commissar. The ensign complied before immediately drawing away from the standoff between the two powerful men. As the commissar read the report, a snort escaped his nose. "Well, Comrade Admiral, it appears you were wrong. You DO need the American ships after all." He tossed the report down onto the admiral's desk. "The Martian fleet has touched down in force in the Gulf of Bothnia, and is moving south over the Baltic ice."
>>29070635***It wasn't as fast as Pearl Harbor, but it was close. The Chief Engineer wasn't happy that it took his department an hour and a half to go from one boiler lit to having full steam up, but the Captain sure was. The engineers need not have hurried; the Soviet crewers took another hour to get their own engines ready for sea. However, the task was accomplished, and the fleet was now steaming out of Krondstat following a venerable icebreaker from the Tsarist era. The crew was once again in higher spirits now that they had work to do. As the fleet rounded a turn in the channel, a message ran up the halyard of the Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya."Message from the Admiral," called out the newly added Soviet signalman as he pulled up his binoculars. "Ha! The admiral has a sense of humor!" he added as the message completed. "He sent a message to all ships: 'Let us remind the squid who the REAL Reds are'!""Thank you," offhandedly replied Admiral Lee with a glance. He quickly did a double-take: The signalman had lit up to try and stave off the cold. Through some kind of sixth sense or finely honed skill, the signalman failed to meet his glare. Admiral Lee sighed after holding that glare for 30 seconds, before smiling again. As he turned back to look out the bridge windows, he pulled out a rubber bouncy ball and threw it as hard as he could against the compass stand.
>>29070683In the blink of an eye, the ball bounced off the stand and around the bridge before homing in on the signalman's cigarette. His surprised yelp brought a smirk to the admiral's face. As he caught the ball with a muffled "SMACK", he coolly advised "Let that be a lesson to you: No smoking on my bridge. Now, Captain, is the PA system working? I'd like to say something to the crew."Captain Stone gestured to the aft bridge wall. "My ship's ears are yours, Admiral."***"Attention all hands, attention all hands, this is the Admiral speaking. As you've no doubt guessed, we are sailing forth to engage the enemy. He is proceeding in force towards Leningrad. We are going to stop him at all cost. After consulting with with his lieutenants and aides," a note of something indescribable slipped into the Admiral's voice, "Admiral Berustov has decided to engage the Martians off of the Gangut peninsula. The First Battle of Gangut was the greatest victory the Russian Empire ever achieved at sea. I expect you all to do your duty to ensure the Second one makes the first look like a hill o'beans. To your stations! That is all."As her crew turned to, the California sailed westward.
