Even after that asshole who screwed with the air flies off, it takes a good while for me to catch my breath to the point where I'm able to reliably stand up on my own. And the fact that I'm trying to support Irene on my back doesn't help matters any, she's way heavier than she looks.

My head's still spinning some, and the oxygen deprivation or whatever the hell that guy caused still has me really woozy. But still, I think I'm well enough to get Irene somewhere safe at least. Evil minion or not, I'm not about to just leave an unconscious girl to her fate in a bad neighborhood like this.

For many, MANY reasons, there's no way in hell I'm carrying her all the way back to my uncle's house. But I think there's a park somewhere around here... maybe I can bring her there and see to her until she wakes up.

The sidewalk's in ruins thanks to Eric's snake trick, so I should try and take the street... no, people around here drive crazy and I don't want to get hit by a car. No, I should go in the grass. That's it. Go in the grass and find my way to the park and hope that Irene wakes up sooner rather than later so I don't have to worry about her.

Unfortunately for him, there's a little thing that I used my Branch for that I've trained up for so long that it's pretty much become a reflex- when I'm hit by pretty much anything, my body retaliates on the object that with a nice resonant blast of sound. Depending on how hard I'm hit and where I'm hit, it can range from anywhere from an unpleasant tingling sensation to someone breaking their hand entirely. And it looks like my new friend Lloyd got it pretty bad...

Channelling the sound of Lloyd's laughter into the wood of my chair, I trap it inside until the chair itself starts to rumble... and then I tap it with my wrist. As the chair shatters, I rise to my feet and slip the ropes from around my body and toss them aside.

"You know..." I growl as I clench my hurting hand, "I could have broken out of there at any point. I was just humoring you since I wanted to try and convince you that I'm not some kind of bad guy. But saving Irene from that little psycho who tried to kill her clearly wasn't enough, I've decided that you can go screw yourself," I say, snatching my wallet out of his hand. "And I'm pretty sure that if I did enough damage to take you out in one shot, you wouldn't even get a chance to use that BS power of yours, so don't try me."

"That's enough, Lloyd," Irene says as she grabs his wrist and squeezes it. "I went along with this because you did have a point, but now you've taken it way too far."
"Let me go, Irene!" Lloyd shouts.
"No."

While Lloyd struggles to break free of his partner's grip, Irene turns to me while ignoring him completely.

"Joshua, thank you for coming to the rescue back there," Irene says with a warm smile. "And that was you who was talking to us back at that wrecked building, right?"

I wonder how he determines who he's transferring the injuries to, if it is at all based on line of sight then CC should be able to fuck with it. Either by blinding him or not actually being where he thinks he sees her.

Though Theresa probably is the best suited for taking him out, she can't be targeted and can wait until he's alone if she wants to be sure.

Try to determine the building's structure, and locate an exit, as well as what walls we could smash through for an expedient retreat.

Get enough sound charged up to explode Lloyd's skull, with a high degree of overkill, just in case.

I know that this was a short thread, but I have stuff to do in the morning so this is is it..I've missed writing both Irene and Joshua, so this was a nice change of pace.

The next thread will be on Monday night, and I'll be running Princess Guard.
