The walk to the Hangar is short, though you arrive after Wendy, who's standing nervously by the rack with Ice's Wyverns in them. “Are you sure about this, sir?” She says, as the ground crew rolls the stairs up to the Bat. “I mean-”

You nod, cutting her off. “Yes, Wendy, I'm sure. Rosalie is coming along to observe, ok?”

Rosalie looks at the Bat, then at Wendy. She shakes her head and tuts. “It would be much easier to fly in strikers with you.” She says to Wendy, then laughs. “Mais, I have always wished to see what it is like for the other half.”

You shake your head. “Other half, she says.” you say, to no one in particular. “Alright, Wendy, mount up and we'll roll.”

You're fortunate in that the 2 seat bat here is, like most of it's breed, capable of being flown by one crewman- all the utterly essential flight controls are up front, with some duplicates in the back. Rosalie settles down in the rear seat without any complaints, the radio headset- no helmets in this bird, just civilian-style headsets- looking somewhat out of place on her blonde hair.

The Wright cyclones in this bird start up with their powerful roar, their cylinders all firing in synch as you adjust the fuel mixture and throttle.

Wendy wobbles along side you- she's not used to the balance of the wyverns yet, and it shows. She tips a few times, arms windmilling to keep her upright- while the strikers would cut out if she did fall over, it'd still be a pretty nasty fall to take. Still, she lines up on the runway and looks back, and you give her a thumbs up when the tower gives you clearance.

She gives away that she wasn't ready for the wyvern's jets as she leans into the takeoff- she doesn't lean in far enough, and has to rapidly correct while the acceleration pushes against her, making her stand almost vertically before she's off the ground- sloppy, but explainable by how new the wyverns are to her.

You snort- you can't do much to stop the jokes, and you're reasonably sure if they go too far, Slider will get involved anyway. And no one is insane enough to keep going once she's gotten involved.

Well, maybe the twins. But no one normal.

The fight to Berlin is relatively quiet, with Rosalie directing Wendy to execute several rolls, loops, and other maneuvers as she gauges her ability with the strikers. You set down at Templehof again, noting the ramp is far emptier than it was last time- just a few VIP transports and a couple hacks like your own.

Wendy's strikers are wheeled to the striker hangar, where they're the only occupant. You sign off on the paperwork for landing- less than 24 hours, so they won't even tow your bat inside, just refuel it and leave it alone.

“So where are we going to first, sir?” Wendy asks.

We had a decent idea of all our subjects for the Christmas trip, we don't know much about Wendy other than that she is quite British and she's been shit on for a big chunk of (if not the entirety) of her life.

She also apparently owned basically nothing but her gun and her strikers, so Rosalie has a point that just about anything might be good. A model kit wrapped in a scarf or some warm clothes might be fine.
