The old mage shakes his head.

You need a second to get what he's saying, then you simply jump from your chair out of sheer joy and hug the Archmage entusiastically.
"Slow down, girl. My old bones don't support much pressure anymore."
You still look at him your eyes full of happiness.

For the first time in like ever you see the old man actually smile.
"Once, there was a young mage. He majored in shapeshifting. On his graduation, he was told to become a bear. Due to this being really, really easy to him, he wanted to try something difficult and become a dragon. Due to the great expansion he wasn't used to, he broke a few bones and even ripped a lung. The only reason he survived was the young white mage graduating at this day. She passed at the top of the class for this display of perfect healing. During her dinner with the Archmage, she made the point I just made to let the young mage retry. He became a really good bear and also passed his training."
You look at him, kind of confused.
"Why are you telling me this, Archmage?"
Still smiling, he looks out of the window, down onto the hospital in which the white mages train.

It's become late and you decide to go back to your chamber. You fall asleep immediately and dream a weird dream of which you can only remember a golden crown. If this has some relevance to your life? You doubt it, but who knows what the future will bring.

This is not OP, but rather a concerned anon. I have a few comments.

Your prose is awful. It reads more like stage directions than anything else. You've only written the bare minimum, which isn't very easy to read. Add some more descriptions. Open a book and look at how everything is written.
As it is, every other line begins with "You do this" or "He does that".

Your use of random greentext for dialogue is very disconcerting and difficult to read.

You aren't using a tripcode. You are liable to have someone steal your name, like I do in this post.

I'm saying all this stuff because the story has potential and I want to see it work.

Besides which, railroading is not always bad, it can be bad if used wrong, or it can save a quest.
