On the last thread we laughed, we cried, I fapped. There's a lot of fluff that you will just need to read for yourself, cuz I ain't posting all that, but I can say it's some of genies best. Now discuss the feels.
(Why is it always me who makes the non game day threads?)

Give the old golem a flower.
It would be fitting no? Twice the the golems life he fell in love. The love of a father for his daughter. Those two times it started with him giving an orphan girl a flower.
Now we are the protector. We are the master. We give him the flower.

I want to say they will want to live in peace for now. It could be possible to recruit them if we play our cards right. The main problem I can see is our undead friends. They can't go near this place for they will, more likely than not, piss them off.

As for action I agree with the flower comment >>36776292, but do we grab one from the outside or risk one from here?

Otherwise I say go near the old one and ask if we can sit down next to them. Once allowed to sit pay our respects and say "Sorry for the on looking, but that story unfolding in your books is [Cry] ..." or something like that.

This be us soon.
At the very least if should be a epic self confidence boost for Valeria.
But with there loyalty we will have the research in the workshop that will give use the info we need to build golems.
We have the query of magic rock to make really good golems. All the golems that are already there that can fix the keep in no time. This beautiful place that will boost moral to incredible levels. Lots of food from the gardens. This place is salvation

I could go on about causality and math and shit but this should be enuf right here

One thing we must never do is let the undead near the grave of stone. I shudder to think of what there corruption will do to this place.
If we want to see what the corruption dose to golems we will send some to them.

I bet Valeria looks like one of the girls the golem razed. We already know she is flat chested. And both the girls were smart so Val's bookishness will help too.
Once we get the clerics, rune smiths, and alchemists studying the books and notes in the work shop and studying the golems them selves we should be able to make more, and I pray that we can fix the old golem. With 100 great minds working at is we should be able to. (He would make a great hero unit)

>>
Alright, lemme recap the things we learned from that big old story. Some of the greentext is paraphrasing. Others are direct quotes. I may be missing important details here, just want to make sure this is down right. All this info will play a key role in working with these guys.

>The was a Golem. Let's call him the Golem
>Once he was in good condition, and he was friends with a little girl
>Growing up with her, saving her from monsters, watching her get married etc.
>She has children. Her husband dies in a war

>"She set's up a workshop"
>"She seems to be an inventor of sorts, with blueprints"
This is evidently the main preserved building

>"Golem drags out a war chest"
>Goes to war, comes back injured
This possibly reveals he was a warrior golem

>"Of the golem leaving with certain pouches."
Not sure of this or what it means

>"Of her building more golems but somehow more dissapoint each time."
>"Of him and the new guys helping her out."
She seems to have been an inventor capable of creating lesser golems

>"She grows older, and whisper's something to the Golem just before she dies"
Is this the 'you were right' quote from the ghostly figure in a later book? What did she whisper.

>"After that on the very next page one could see were two pic...one of her as a lone young girl weeping before two graves while clutching to a certain golem."
This seems to be the same girl at a younger age. And those graves may be her parents. Did they create or own that golem and it protected her?

Presuming the 'you were right' quote is what she whispered on her death bed, does it refer to something they spoke of at a young age? When her parents died?

>"Slowly they left and the house was emptied..."
>"However the golem didn't budge."
>"There it remained despite instance of many including her children and great children"
>"after that the golem closed the book"

Golem watches over the house, grave, and other golems for many generations. This is the end of the first picture book.
>>
>>36783308
>>"Of the golem leaving with certain pouches."
>Not sure of this or what it means
Probably something to do with magic fighting

>>"She grows older, and whisper's something to the Golem just before she dies"
>Is this the 'you were right' quote from the ghostly figure in a later book? What did she whisper.
She probably said something to the point of "you are not a killer. You are a protector" or something.
>>
>>36783308
Now to book 2

>"There is showed certain golems"
>"The same golems as before...but now others were joining them. These clearly not made by her...some of war and others with different purposes."
>"They had to dragged themselves over to a certain area...here they halted and moved no more."
Golems have shown capability of manufacturing and reproduction of more golems even after the death of their inventor. And have set up a sort of graveyard for those who have deteriorated to the point of nonfunction

>"The golems of whom laid there moving no more as the light slowly left them."
These golems seem to have a "light" in them, including the Old Goldem, seemingly is their lifeforce or a representation of it

>Old Golem continues to deteriorate worse and worse, light dimming. Still, in times of danger or great importance it rises to defend the area

>The next scene appears to be a surreal "near death" experience of the Golem, as it's last light is about to flicker out
>Suddenly it springs "back to life" to go rescue another little girl from a battle it heard afar, light shining again
>Girl runs to saftey while Old Golem attempts defense, but already crippled and surrounded
>Girl drags Old Golem to saftey before nnearly dying. Remaining other golems arrive to rescue them and drive off the enemy
Thus introducing who I will refer to as the New Girl

>New Girl and Old Golem fix up workshop
>New Girl learns the golem inventing trade and skills, but like the previous girl is unable to repair the Old Golem
>"Of her becoming increasing proud of herself with her accomplishments."
>"Of a shocked golem as she beams before her newest creation."
Seems to imply she did learn how to create golems like her predecessor, the older girl

>"Of the now nigh grown girl waving as she departs with a pack on her shoulders"
Don't know where she went or why

Con't
>>
>>36783547
Con't of book 2
The next part is the Golem remembering things.

>The Golem appears to come to some conclusions about golem construction, working in secret while the new girl sleeps
>It takes bits and pieces, parts of "failed experiments", and even breaks off parts of it's already decrepit self

Again, this is all in a bit of a 'flash back', before the new girl left. The next part details the Golem seeming to put a letter and a book into the girls pack before she leaves on the aforementioned trip.

*Considering that the entire narrative in itself is a flashback of the Golem, but since there's the chance we're switching back to the present, keeping with the chronology and tense grammar of this is tricky. . .None the least the consistent usage of "it" since the next part has two particular golems that "it" could refer to. This entire last part is actually kinda confusing for me to conceptualize, I'll just write down what I see.*

>After it got to the blank pages near the end of the journal it started to write and draw
I will presume this is the present, of us watching the golem drawing. I do not know if the next events depicted in the drawn are what it "envisions" will happen, or what has already occured. I will speaking of the next events as though they have no happened yet, but this is what Old Golem sees will happen after he passes away.

>It proceeds to draw itself "closing shop", and at long last the light finally flickering out of its body. For good
>The New Girl will return from her trip with a "New Champion" and superior Golem.
Perhaps her trip was to master the way to make new golems?

The Old Golem seems to scribble a lot of notes on the last pages for the "New Golem" to find

">On that final page it scrimbled out a pic of the new crouched before the old with an arm outstretched with a single drop about to fall off on the end while storm clo-

HOLD UP

Didn't we (in the present) just witness an event exactly like that?

. . .damn, now I'm confused.
>>
>>36784389
Maybe it's a past repeating kind of thing. If not I believe in you to find out.

Also thanks for a recap we will need it.
>>
>>36784513
One of my theories is that the Old Golem is actually even older than we thought, and that the golem we're seeing right now is the New Golem, who did what the Old Golem asked it to do.

That, or whoever this golem dripped on is an extremely Old One from before any of this who we don't even know about.

Or maybe Genie can come here and help clarify things, though his writing is superb, is mastery of grammar and english does occasional leave something to be desired.

Golems weren't able to manufacture its just they were able to 'recruit' others.

Light represents 'life force' that keeps the golems ticking.

Which part were you referring to, the one where he's remembering right?

>yes present.
Everything from the "golem starts drawing in front of our face" business

>Nope its New and Old. Hasn't happened yet.
Ah, so it is indeed his vision of what the future will be.

He is expecting the girl to return with the New Golem, who will read his final messages (presumably even after he is dead) and at some point do the entire drop ritual on his grave.

But then that raises the question, who was the extremely golem the Old Golem himself performed the ritual on?

I have an idea on how to fix our money problem. The nearby trading towns. We can offer them a deal.
Because this land had been in war for eons there are plenty that would be more then willing to kill them and take everything. We can stop that. If they join us we can offer protection, guidance, help. All we ask in return are taxes and obedience. Sounds fair to me

Money is the least of our issues for now, I say we focus on sustainability and the essentials. Food, water, shelter, defenses.

Right now I'm waiting to see how this plays out.

Otherwise the only plans I'm thinking about is plans for money. Mainly so we can amass a bigger army and resources.

Like the whole protecting the villages. If they do lack defense we can help the dwarves with the earth works to make mini fortress for them. Then there's just removing any bandits for their loot.

From there I hope to get more non combatants into the area. The problem for that is the lack of reasons for people to come here, other that the well of power.

Once we can get proper farmers, craftsmen and hunters. We can then work on more expansion of the infrastructure.

Another thing I would like to do is help the undead with a tome or building of some kind. We will probably need to plan out a way to keep them around without causing outrage as well. My hope is to use the golems as a in between for the undead and the living. If we can show there is profit to be made. We can keep them around pretty easy.

The final problems in my head is the vengeful good people. They will kill all in their way to remove the undead. Then the dark corruption from the undead's aura. It will become a problem if we don't find some balance for it.

So you sorta sat there...wondering what the hell just happened.

First the golem went inside for a time and then later come out to its own grave where it rested slowly the remaining forced life draining out of it. Somehow someway Valeria showed up with a flower of whom she approached the old golem crouched down and with flower in hand. There despite the draining golem it socket flashed, slowly rose its arm up reaching for the flower and upon receiving its arm fell down flower clutched in its hands.

That was when it spoke with a forced gravely force.

"While you may have been correct...remember that you too should pursue happiness and know that there is always another always something better and worst."

As it spoke though the light in its socket was slowly fading away with each word.

"Do not become trapped in the past for there it holds only memories and lessons that should of been learned. Its the present that is a present whether it be good or bad. In the future though...forever and unlike the past is not truly ever...chained."

With that last word the bare last flickers of life escaped the golem.

You still in shock upon realizing just how much a dead ringer she is of the person in some of those pics, also how she got in here in the first place. Valeria on the other hand...seems to be in rather dazed which is a first and it just a further shock for you.

Alright so sorta in a bit of a real uh tight spot.

Things appeared to be on the up and up...now am homeless at least for now anyway.

Last time was able to escape that fate with the skin of my teeth apparently not anymore.

Savings is tapped out.

So the Genie is liable to disappearing soon perhaps permanently.

Damned fucking knew life hated me and somehow I didn't see this coming.

most of my backups have failed or already been exhausted.

My deepest and most profound apologies that i was unable to give the system formula before going.

I had deeply hoped I could of done at least that much.

So i suppose this is goodbye...again and hopefully like before I will return.

Gonna suck its pretty fucking cold out.

I. . .

I don't know what to say. How do you compile a years worth of events, stories, an entire world learned, into a single post? Something I wouldn't trade anything on earth for?

I can only say that, I will miss you Genie. We all will miss you.

And you better believe, we'll be waiting for you to return. Every tuesday and thursday. I know I will.

And one day you'll be back. I know you will.

Post that email you gave us btw, I'm going to try and send you some help on paypal

Yeah well life hates me.

Knew life was gonna figure out something to screw me with eventually. Just kinda disappointing in myself i didn't see the strategies it could of used.

It's alright Genie. I'd think the players of "Genie Hero Quest" might have just rolled a nat1, but they'll find a way out.

You will
>>
>>36805345
Life might hate you, but we love you Genie.
Thank you for the amazing story you gave us and the fun thread, you left on a high note. I hope you return on it.
>>
>>36805394
If you do have to go for a long time when you come back, use that pic you always use for starter threads, with the man sitting in his chair. I'll know it's you.
>>
>>36805168
Well shit that sucks. If you're in Texas let me know and I could help in some way.

Rolled 989 (1d1000)

>>
>>36806746

The sad part is that blackwoods was my first civ. and it was my deleted crit fail that ended it

>>36806991
I don't use steam (don't have a computer) how about kik? Or Skype
>>
>>36805394
Shit, Genie. Well it sucks to see you going again. I'd help you out, but I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel myself too...

Your Old Guards will always keep an eye out for your return, and you'll be missed.
>>
>>36807097
So you ARE alive after all, no matter how much I called.

how's fortico btw?
>>
>>36807095
I brought the very first civ into the world by my hand, and then took it out. I did the same with several other civs actually.

me and godzilla have the highest kill counts
>>
>>36807095
Talk to me on mibbit, we'll see
>>36807097
Same goes to you too smartanon

Au revoir Genie, I joined your quests in the last days of Growcorp, using a different name I thought fit the setting. It's been an amazing ride, and I hope I'll get to go again.

I'm sending good vibes (and some cash) your way. And as someone who's been homeless myself, I do recommend couchsurfing.org if you're not on it already. It takes some time and there are no guarantees, but there are some genuinely good people out there to be found.

For a better tomorrow.
>>
>>36803554
Can I just point out how sole crushing and fitting this post is if it turns out to be genies last story post
>>
>>36807793
I don't want to think it is.

Even so, this MUST be posted.

It's coming along, just in fits and spurts whenever inspiration bites me. Inspiration bites less frequently these days because of life being shitty, but such is the way these things go.

For this I say is true, once but long ago times seemed dire, our Genie left us right in the middle of the quest of the Bloodsnows cold winter. And it seemed we would not see him again.

But as it was before it shall be again, Genie will pull herself through, and the the time will come on that day we shall see her again.

maybe even thursday
