The last empires of Man have crumbled to dust, and barbarism has descended upon the darkened universe...

But one woman shines as a beacon of triumph - Cassiopeia, Queen of the Cosmos!

Word had reached her far ear that in his den of lubricity, the vice-ridden crime lord Longorus had acquired a map to a treasure said to unlock the secret of immortality!

So closely did Longorus hold the map that Cassiopeia found herself pledging not only her rocket pack but her ship as well, tokens of her faithfulness that she would recover the treasure and deliver it to him in return for a share of the reward.

Thus sated by her demonstration of intent, Longorus bade his servant to provide her the map, for it was not so great a distance from his palatial pleasure-house, though two of his men would accompany her.

But thought the reward for this treasure was astounding, Cassiopeia's gaze was drawn to her real quarry...

Just a little more than what will easily fit in two of these 3-drawer containers. I can fit all the pieces in if I pack them carefully, but there's not enough room for the baseplates. I have most of the instruction manuals, so I could do a count when I get home tonight if the thread's still up.

OK, I'm home from work, full of food, and ready to answer questions!

>>37486985
>Hey lego quest, do you use a camera and tripod for your pictures?
I do use a camera. It's a Canon PowerShot "Digital Elph", whatever that means. It's actually my second PowerShot; the first one died last year, but since I already had the cable and battery, I managed to find an identical model on eBay which came with its own battery, so now I don't have to cut games short when the battery runs out! I don't have a tripod, so I just try to hold it still and take 20 shots for every picture that actually gets posted.

What kind of lighting set up do you use?
I have two standing lamps and a ceiling light. Sometimes I think about making one of those light filter ceilings that /toy/ talks about, but I don't have the free time right now.

Are you just using tremendous sheets of construction paper as a back drop?
No, it's usually posterboard, but sometimes I use a big piece of colored butcher paper. The upside of butcher paper is that since it's so wide and tall I can take more panoramic shots than with posterboard, but the downside is that it crinkles really easily so after a few weeks the sky is full of creases.

Can I ask more questions?
I think you did a few posts down, but sure!

>Do you take certain photos in advance?
I take the intro pictures beforehand. I used to write the intro first, then take pictures to suit, but I've found that it's a lot easier for me to take the pictures first. Occasionally I take the intro pictures and then decide not to run a game that day (this episode's intro pictures were taken last week). Otherwise, all the pictures in the game are made "live".

>How much of these things do you plan and how much is made up on the spot?--do you come up with a main goal and try to steer things towards it as we go, or do you make up a crap load of branching path idea outlines and kind of go with that?
There's usually a goal of some kind for the main character, either immediate or long-range, but sometimes the MC gets sidetracked, and that's OK too. I might have one or two potential scenes or bits of dialogue in mind that I think would be cool, but I don't plan anything more than one scene in advance. All the names of people and places are usually made up on the spot. Mostly I just try to keep the action up and make sure the players are engaged.

>Do you build the characters or write part of the script first?
I mostly just start with a broad concept for the main character or the setting, like "Imperial assassin" or "post-apocalyptic". From there, I assemble a bunch of minifigs without assigning them any particular roles; I just put them together in a way that I think fits the setting.

For this episode, the character roles were mostly assigned before the game started, because of the flashback. In a game where the main character starts out alone, there's a pile of minifigs off to the side that I grab whenever I need another character, but the character roles are made up on the spot nine times out of ten.

Thanks! I think it's the cutest brick-built animal I've made so far.

As stated earlier in the thread, I made a list of all the instruction manuals I have. I know I'm missing at least some, but I have most of them. I also have a good amount of minifigs because when I was a kid you could buy a box of five minifigs for five bucks. This also doesn't include the initial shoebox full of pieces that I first received as a toddler or the stuff I got at garage sales, thrift stores, or Bricklink.
