General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible. There are occasional roles to keep things organic, but mostly it goes by voters choice. Unless specified otherwise, the best of 3 rolls is the result, and rolling high is good.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. Put your own spin on it, suggest dialogue, add an addendum, or anything else. Just because some options specify to write in, doesn't mean that they aren't welcome for anything else. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat currently works just like dialogue and other options. Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, be creative!

"Levi, I'm not going to scratch you. You know that was bad."

Levi gives an indignant look. She gestures like you should be blaming the other Gyarados.

"I don't care who looked at who first. You're a mature, trained Pokemon. You know better. Levi, I'm disappointed." You hate how much you sound like one of your old childcare workers.

She snorts and looks away, not satisfied.

You put her back into her Pokeball. Hopefully that got through to her.

"I think she'll come around," Jeanine says. "Yours too Robin. They just need time to adjust."

Robin shakes off her fear. "Y-Yeah. You're right. We can figure anything out if we work hard enough!"

You glance at her eyepatch and hope she's right. Time to keep training! Whether you fix her eye by beating Emma, try to catch a legendary, or just want to protect her and the rest of your friends, you'll need to be strong.

"Destiny! Come on out!" The small Horsea appears in a flash of light. She bounces and bubbles at your attention. She's looking pretty strong these days too. You guess she'll probably be the next to evolve.

You’re ahead of schedule, so you can probably get icebeam down while you choose something else.

You take a minute to decide what you'll work on with her today.

Clair comes by with her Gardevoir and joins everyone with training.

"Sleep well?" Vance asks.

"Oh yeah!" She stretches. "I really needed that...extra nap."

You focus back on your awesome little Horsea. "Come on Destiny, let's get to work! We're going to work on your movement and Special Attack."

She hops off your lap and takes a stance.

You have her jump and fire off different attacks. You vary it up so it's Ice Beam at the apex of her jump, Smokescreen three quarters of the way up. Water Pulse right before she lands. Then you get fancy. You have her do flips as she shoots. You have her slow herself down and move in the air with beams. She quickly learns to control her momentum and angle of attack.

"Now let's get that power down. Jump, do a flip, then hit this branch when this tip is at it's highest with your full power."

It's a complicated order, but she's in the zone. You toss the branch off and she nails it with and Ice Beam at the right exact moment. It spins and shatters on the ground.

"Great job!" You hug her. She's really found her niche. You're really looking forward to letting her test herself against a powerful opponent. "You did awesome Destiny! I'm very proud!"

She bubbles again and rolls around like a donut.

You laugh. "If you still have energy, keep practicing that power!"

She fires a few miscellaneous beams into the clear sky. You leave her be for now.

"Zappy Dan! It's your turn!"

Destiny has made some good progress, but when it comes to Special Attack, Zappy Dan is a beast.

"Alright Dan, we're going to learn Magnet Rise!"

He's his usual apathetic self. That's okay. You know that just because he doesn't react much on the outside doesn't mean he doesn't care.

Now let's see. How does he learn it? "Dan, I want you to float higher."

He struggles to position himself upwards, then quickly drops down. He can't keep it up very long.

"Magnezone's float by increasing or decreasing their magnetic fields," Robin says while doing drills with her Dratini and Vulpix. "The field itself is something they don't usually concentrate on."

Huh, okay. You can use that.

"Dan. I want you to concentrate on how you float. Really think about it. Feel what your body does to keep you off the ground."

He goes a little lower, then higher. You guess it's like asking him to breath manually.

"Okay, feel it? Now, ramp up the power. Give yourself a little surge"

A few sparks surround him, but he focuses inward. Instead of projecting a blast, he charges the part of himself generating the field. He rises several feet in the air. To test him out, you have him float over a bunch of different things. He keeps a consistent distance between himself and anything below him.

"Way to go!" You give him a slap on the back, the crawl on him. "Can you keep me up to?"

He floats you around for a bit. It feels weird being this high off the ground, but he doesn't jerk or twist suddenly.

After a short while, he lowers down to his normal height. You congratulate him again.

With the exception of Leviathan's outburst, you're on a roll. You even managed to calm that quickly with your flute.

Watch out Emma. You won't be holding back!

"Trunks! Come on out!"

Trunks cuddles your leg affectionately, but his eyes dart around, looking for his next prey. He's an odd one, but you love him.

Trunks is becoming very well rounded. His specialty is sapping his opponents energy and taking it as his own. He was nearly as tricky as Vlad when he helped you win your unofficial badge. His defenses could use some work though.

"We'll start with Reflect, then giving Destiny bond a try after that. How's that sound"

His little branch feet skitter around in excitement.

You've seen Reflect used before. Let's see. The user summons a clear barrier that helps negate some physical damage. You use Robin's Pokedex to pull up a video and watch it wth Trunks. After it's over you give his head a scratch. "Think you can do it?"

He cackles.

You step back to give him some space and he spreads out his arms and summons a barrier.

"Looks good," You say. "Let's test it out." You toss a small pebble through it. It passes by without any resistant.

His cackling stops.

"Don't worry, let's try it again!"

You give him space. This time it's a solid, dark mass. You flick it and nothing happens except your finger hurts. You make sure nobody is directly behind it and throw a rock at it as hard as you can. The rock splits into two and the pieces bounce off into the air. Jeanine's Bulbasaur whips both with it's vines before they can land.

"Good job!" She praises him. As she rubs his head, he tries to take her the contents of her pocket. You point it out to her and she quickly snatches it back.

You turn back to the Reflect. It shatters.

Vance looks over. "That's weird. It blocked it entirely, but it looks like it broke after one good hit."

You decide to go with his weird, dark Reflect. "Let's do that again." You run through it over and over. Each time he does it quick, larger, wider.

Clair is paying close attention as you help him train it. "That's weird, it's like Protect, except it doesn't fade if nothing hits it."

"So it's like Substitute?" Robin comes over now.

"I don't know, it doesn't seem to take any health," you say. "It might not block big area attacks, but it could come in handy where those moves might not. Especially if it sticks around awhile."

You test it out some more. It seems change it's position and act as a shield, protecting Trunks from whoever he considers an opponent.

"Alright. It think that's enough for now." You rub your chin. "Destiny Bond is going to be tricky."

Vance pushes Jeanine's Bulbasaur, Thistle up. "I have a volunteer to test that when you're ready."

"Vance!" Jeanine protests. As she's doing that, Thistle tries lifting Clair's skirt.

"Hey!" Jeanine chases after him.

You practice with Trunks. When a Pokemon uses Destiny Bond, it glows purple and summons floating balls. When it's knocked out, those balls hit go after and knock out the opponent. Timing is everything.

You have Trunks work on the glowing purple part. After awhile he seems to get it, but there's only one real way to know for sure. You'll have to have someone else knock him out.

He cackles maniacally.

You're tempted to try it yourself. After all, you ask your Pokemon to fight all the time, right? But you can't just beat on him until he's nearly knocked out and tell him to stand there. There's only one fair way.

"Come on Trunks, we're going to have a match. You and me."

The girls all give a resounding "What!"

Vance cheers you on. "I knew you'd find your fighting spirit!"

"You're nuts!" Clair says.

"Be careful!" Robin says. You can tell by her face she thinks this isn't your best idea.

You turn to Trunks. "It's okay. We'll have a friendly battle, just the two of us. At the end, I want to test Destiny Bond, okay?"

Trunks mulls it over, but seems to be won over. His soft expression turns to a wicked smile as he turns his predatory instincts on you for the first time.

You tie up your hair and put up your fists. It'll be good to get some of your own sparring in. You've been in your share of fights before beginning your journey, and even a few while on it. But lately you've been cutting it close. Your scuffle with Jeanine, the fight with Delmar... who knows when you'll need to get physical yourself next?

"Come at me!"

Trunks jumps at you. You jab, but he let's your fist pass though him and punishes you with a Tackle.

A lot of the old school big shots talk about only being able to truly understand someone through battle. Maybe there's something to that. You can tell by looking at Trunks that there won't be any hard feelings. You'll have to go all out just to keep up.

"She's lost it," Jeanine mutters.

Vance leans over her. "Go Kat! Keep your arms up!"

Trunks closes the distance again.

He cackles as he runs towards you. Being on this side of it, you can see why Pokemon get scared of him. The way his legs move him along the ground is eerie, and his laugh makes you feel like he's toying with you.

Trunks expects you to be scared. You're his prey.

You channel that fear. Instead of backing away, you rush towards him and lack a powerful sucker punch to his midsection. That looks like it counted for a lot.

You dive behind the boulder, kicking sand back at him as you go. You must have dodged it because you don't feel confused. You think back to that cave you caught Vlad in. Some Zubats hit you with a Supersonic in that narrow space and you really lost yourself for a bit.

From chasing that ditto through the thick brush, fighting Delmer down the hills outside Greydon, getting that blast of rocks across your back fighting Regirock, and this, you're becoming quite the canvas of small scars.

But you feel alive. You already feel closer to Trunks.

You stand with your back against the boulder, wondering where he's going to strike from. Wondering if you should try striking first.

You scramble up the rock quickly. From this angle, he won't even see you do it. The first half is easy, but the last bit to get entirely on top is really draining. Your arms burn.

It doesn't matter, you can see him. He's looking around for you. Perfect!

You spread your arms wide and leap at him. He only becomes intangible when he's expecting to be struck.

Just as you're about to land it, he quickly turns around and turns purple, cackling and smiling.

Whack! You strike him and send him flying back. You also skid across the ground, but are able to get back up.

That is, until the little purple spheres start flying at you. They move way too fast too dodge and quickly enter your body.

The last thing you see before falling unconscious is Trunk's smirking, proud face as he lays on the ground, unable to battle.

You must not be out long, because you wake up without dreaming. Vance's smiling face looks down at you.

"She's fine!" Vance assures everyone.

"So is Trunks." Robin says as she carries him over. "I can't believe you did that."

You feel so heavy. You pet Trunks. "Good fight Trunks. Way to go."

He snuggles against you. To him, it was like playing, just a bit rougher. That's the thing you like about Pokemon. They don't complicate things or read too much into it. He obviously could have been a lot rougher on you.

Clair shakes her head. "Why didn't you test it out with a Pokemon?"

"I couldn't ask my Pokemon to do anything I'm not willing to do." You say. "Besides, I think Vance has the right idea. I feel like Trunks and I understand each other better."

You've seen first hand how Trunks responds without your guidance. He had fun, enjoyed the game, and seemed more concerned about doing clever moves than actually winning. He doesn't carry malice into his battles, even if he plays it up for the fear factor.

Vance stands tall. "Hear that? Vance is right."

You all take a quick food break. The day has been zooming by with all this training.

"You're pretty rough on your clothes," Jeanine says. "And your body." She seems concerned.

Vance pats you on the back. "That was great. You have to let me spar with Trunks some time!" He looks you over, "If you want, I can even show you some stuff. I think by now you've proven you're tough enough."

You laugh and take it under advisement. You show off your arm muscles and convince Robin to give it a squeeze.

You're not in any condition to fight anybody right now. You're not very hurt, just worn. Eating and resting helps a lot though.

Well, no sense stopping now. You have one more Pokemon to train.

"Alright Devon, your turn now!" You through out his Pokeball and he nearly tackles you in excitement. He runs in a circle, barking.

You look into the clear, open sky. You want to teach Devon Sunny Day, but it'd be hard to tell if he's making progress under this beating sun.

"Destiny, where are you?" You look around wearily. "There you are. I need to ask you a favor."

She bubbles.

"I need you to do a Rain Dance."

She happily complies. She's quick to pull it off and soon a light drizzle comes pouring over you and your friends.

"Alright Devon. Time to learn Sunny Day!"

You practice with him for a good long while. You spend most of it giving him pointers and tips instead of actively demonstrating. That fight took a lot of out you. After a bit of practice, you feel Devon has it down well enough to pull it off in battle.

Now for the big one. Mega-evolution

You look Devon in the eyes. You're sure he mega-evolved before when facing Clair. There's got to be a secret to doing it again. "Clair, is there any chance you could..."

"Act as a bridge between you and your Houndoom?" She crosses her arms. "Maybe another time." She must still be a little burnt after you nearly lost yourself healing Robin. "I haven't had a chance to rest my powers much since coming along with you guys. You need to do whatever you're planning on doing without my help." She goes back to training with the others.

You scratch Devon behind the ears. There's got to be a way to figure this out. You fiddle with the little plastic Houndoom on the bracelet Robin made for you.

You pet Devon some more. He may look fearsome, but you know him better. He's always been very protective of you.

"Jeanine, can I ask you a favor?"

She smiles. "Of course!"

"I want to connect with Devon. I was hoping maybe you had some sort of technique or Aura thing that could help." You scratch the back of your head. You don't know this stuff very well.

She looks ecstatic. "Stay right there!" She rummages though her bag, then pulls out two gloves with those crystals in them. "I've been practicing with this non-stop." She holds it out and closes her eyes. For a split second, she manages to have a small flicker of light shine out of it.

"What is that?"

"Aura Guardians used all sorts of things to help them. I think," She slows down and takes a breath. "I think I can do a lot more with these."

Jeanine has you and Devon lean against each other. She touches you both with one glove each.

"Alright. I need you both to try to get in the same mindset."

"You know that song you like?"

He perks up and breathes though his mouth.

"I don't even know what it's from. I think I just made it up. I love playing it. It's like... it's comforting. I've never had a lot of constants in my life, but that song was always one. I never liked sharing my music with people It's always been embarrassing."

He's listening.

"But I can open up now." You sigh. "Maybe I should have practiced more, and not worried what people thought. Robin lost her eye because I choked when the pressure was on. I didn't know! I thought... I thought I lost her."

Jeanine says nothing, she's concentrating. Devon puts a paw on your hand.

"I feel so bad about it. I need to fix this. Robin always puts everyone else ahead of her. She should hate me, but she doesn't. I can fix this Devon. I know it. I can't run away from my problems anymore. I say I'm going to find a solution, but I'm worried I'm just using that as a different way to distract myself."

Again, you pause.

"No. That's just my self-hate talking again. I can fix this. I know it. Maybe I'll impress Meloetta enough that she'll help somehow. She likes music, just like you." You think about your other options. "Or maybe I can get Emma to fix Robin's eye. I have no idea how hard of a battle that will be but I'll give it everything I have."

He perks up again. You see your thoughts reflected in his eyes.

"I never thought I'd be facing someone in the Elite Four. Especially so soon. I don't know if the pressure is going to make me mess up, or if it's enough to make me take this seriously. I need to win it. For Robin, for you and my other Pokemon. I owe everyone my best. I might mess up, but that's no excuse to stop trying. I'm committed to the path I chose."

Devon barks. You can feel his intense fighting spirit. He wants to give his best too.

You hadn't realized how much time has gone by. It's already dark out.

You focus really hard on what Devon's feeling. He seems to be doing the same. You take out your flute.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTzGoZEgbMk

You see your thoughts reflected in his eyes. You both want to help each other go as far as possible.

You have a lot of challenges ahead. After the song, you give Devon a hug. "I am not going to run away anymore, We're going to beat them all!"

You feel an intense glow off of Devon. Jeanine stumbles back. You take your hands off him and give him a little space. The light glows and pulses. It's so similar but different from the regular evolution you've seen.

Devon becomes a Mega-Houndoom. You can feel it's not totally stable, but it's here for now. You're about to hug him when you hear someone approach.

"Well, you don't see that every day." An old lady with a cane comments. There's something about her that feels off.

"Schechina." Clair says.

That's the Ghost type gym leader for this town!

You struggle to your feet. It seems like half the energy it takes for Devon to transform ends up coming from you. It won't last long.

You know almost nothing about this gym leader. You figured you'd ask Clair and Robin at some point.

You ignore her and keep your attention on Devon. This is a major breakthrough.

"Great job!" You feel like you're congratulating yourself, even though that wasn't the intent. "You did it!"

His face contorts in confusion. He almost loses it. He quickly shakes it off though. He focuses hard and you can feel the intense aura he's giving off. It's not visible, but you can sense it plain as day.

You encourage him to move around, see how he feels. He doesn't have any trouble moving.

"Want to try a Dark Pulse?"

He takes a stance, digging in, just like he did when he first learned the move. He takes aim at that boulder you leaped off of.

You nod and he fires. He blows it into rubble! Bits of rock come flying out.

You and Devon shout and roar in excitement. It's a primitive, powerful feeling.

This is incredible! This is power!

He flickers again. You feel exhausted. You can't keep this up for much longer.

Devon wants to run and find prey. That feels like a good idea for some reason.

You've been a good Kat all day! You want to help your friend, but you also haven't given in to your wild side in a long time. If you're not going to get a song or talk anymore or do something fun, you want to go find some fun instead.

You want to run wild in the streets. Get these restricting clothes off and look for prey! Something you can really impress a mate with.

"Kat, are you alright?" Robin puts a hand on your shoulder.

You shake your head. "Uh, yeah. Devon, that's enough for now. Good job!" You feel like just taking is putting the two of you out of sync.

He paces around, confused. He begins to flicker and shimmer, and finaly revert back to just a regular Houndoom.

You kneel down and give him a hug. He whines and licks your face. "You did good."

You feel like Devon has learned a lot about you, on top of you feeling what he feels.

He licks your face some more.

Schechina walks passed you and to Robin instead. "You! Why aren't you dead?"

"E-excuse me," Robins stammers.

"You have the smell of death about you," She turns to Vance. "You have a much smaller bit yourself, young man."

"Uhh," is all Vance manages. He fiddles with his hair where that blade was.

The crazy old woman pokes Robin with her cane. "You cheated somehow. You tasted it, didn't you?"
