"I want to go find mom," you say with a firm nod.

Auntie seems surprised and someone chagrinned but doesn't say anything. "Then after we leave your siblings I will show you the beginning of the path to the river. You will not be able to carry all the things I have for you but I have a few things you may find useful."

You nod. You don't want to be sent away and if Mom could solve that problem faster than trying to get magical assistance then that seems best.

The bag auntie brough is dragged out and she shows you the things she brought for you. It appears she found a small belt pouch you could use as a bag with a decent amount of food in it, and she also has a colored cloth similar to her swamp camoflage cloak that you could wear as a cloak of your own. It's slightly large but by the time you get back it'll probably be too small. She also included some basic firestarting stuff, a little bag of spices, and a tiny blanket that you'd guess was part of a large blanket at some point, it's also a bit large for you, you're not complaining. The prize is a tiny metal shard as long as your arm with a bit of string wrapped around the wide end. It'll be a functional knife for you for a while, though at present it's almost a sword.

After showing you everything and explaining its purpose auntie repacks it all into your new bag and stows it in her bag for later.

You nod. Then you realize if you're going to find your mom you kind of need to know what she looks like and ask auntie to describe her.

Auntie's picture is... not good.

"You're not very good at art are you auntie?" you say with the saccharine innocence of a child.

"Gives me some paper and I will draw just fine, no?" Auntie says with a lizard blush.

"I'm gonna go find a bird and find my brothers," you tell her heading into the woods. She shrugs and starts gathering things for a fire, your other siblings assisting. For a moment it looks like your awake siblings want to help but decide against it.

You make it a short distance into the woods following the bits of trail your brothers left that you can find. About ten minutes in you poke your head out of a bush and find yourself eye to eye with a black bird about your size, a bit bigger in body at best. It's hovering over the corpse of some furry thing and picking at the meat sill remaining on it, it's clearly something else's kill that they were already finished with. As you step out of the bush the bird turns in your direction and spreads its wings in a threatening manner.

Sneaking back into the bush you climb up a nearby tree out of sight of the bird. As you climb out onto a branch you look down and see the bird has somehow kept track of you. The branch shakes with your movement and leaves rattle as you get into a better position for a pounce. A moment before you leap it occurs to you to try using your magic and you give that a shot.

You pour your strength into forming some kind of magical fireball. Absolutely nothing happens.

Screw this you didn't get this far by using magic. You leap down at the bird and it starts, apparently not having expected you to actually jump. It's flight is slow and you collide with it, the two of you roll a moment and your mouth clamps around the bird's throat. Your bird finally tells you it's a crow. You spin again in the air and then seperate the bird flying away. You land feet first on the ground and slide a short distance before coming to a claw enforced stop. Then the bird hits the ground a bit past where you collided. Its head hangs from your mouth where it pulled three when you didn't let go of its neck. Apparently heads need to be attached to work. Good to know, but you already knew that.

A few moments work later you've stowed your bird away. You ate the head. You were feeling peckish. The trail your brothers left is picked up again and you follow it again. You find a tiny lizard sized clearing and are shocked by the image before you.

These two, ravens, both circle around taking pecks at your older brother, there's blood obscuring one of his eyes and he's got a few other bleeding wounds in his hide.
