Enough is enough. You are a glowing lizard of the highest quality. Also, only quality, which still makes it highest. The gunk is still rather wet and gooey despite a night of drying. Perhaps if you figure out how to bake it you can cook it off you. YOu're pretty sure you got the right words in there. Either way you're doing it.

You close your eyes and feel for the bits you did yesterday that left you blind. There's a tenative connection in your body leading away to where all the light filtered off. You follow it, and feel like you're passing off a strange murky pool. Like there's a body of liquid in you, mostly drained and recently stirred up by movement. Now it whirls weakly and you feel a trickle coming from someplace else to refill the body and stir up the murk further.

This is the source of all that glowing, you think. You're not quite sure how it works but you're in a position to manipulate it now. You grab a mental hold of it and try forcing it out by any avenue you can find.

The world explodes around you. You open your eyes and see the way the great god lizard must. The world is before you to be saved or burned at your whim. Before you are a few sleeping forms that will burn slightly less well than the ground you stand on, but the difference is minute. Your flesh glows white with heat, black spots marring it in places and a corona, barely visible in the light of you painfully bright glow whirls around you. Streaks of flame erupt off of you and then are pulled back in.

The muck that held you appears to have disappeared and the ground beneath you smolders and burns. You feel the wooden floor beneath you giving way before the heat of your body. In an instant you feel the wood begin to disappear beneath yuo before the body of power within you abruptly runs dry. You return to normal. The world is no longer shades of flammability and the floor of your house no longer burns beneath you.

You still burn though and quick step off the spot you were in. Your feet feel slightly better but you still have a weird burning sensation. Like you're on fire. You look at one of your limbs and notice a flame flickering over it.

WHY! WHY DID YOU PLAY TINY LIZARD GOD! YOU REGRET EVERYTHING!

You miss your glass house. You were never on fire in your glass house. Yes the false sun exploded once but that really only hurt the elf.

You scamper in a circle making distressed lizard noises before recalling the principle quality of the swamp. Everything is wet. You would very much like to be wet right now. You claw at the side of the room, failing to get a grip in your panic for a moment before shooting up the side. WHY IS THE WINDOW CLOSED!? WHY WHY WHY

You claw at the thick wooden shutters for a bit before giving it up for a bad job and dashing for the front door. You can feel the flames tickling all over as you rush through the hanging wall of beads. There's a brief glimpse of Mom just sitting up as you dart past her and out the door.

In your periphery you hear mom turning to follow you but you're long gone. Outside you cry at the distance between you and the nearest good sized puddle. The swamp could be wetter, you decide. In fact you'd prefer it if it were.

Mercifully the fire goes out when you submerge yourself. The water is cool and refreshing and very painful as it soothes your burnt scales. You close your eyes and just let the water flow over you.

When you open your eyes again you find Kuru, auntie's friend, hovering over you, with mom towering even over her. You feel, pretty numb actually. You look at one of the arms and find a white paste rubbed on it. Not the usual stuff either. Then you notice your siblings are also surrounding you.

You remaind silent as your moether quiets your siblings down and agrees to take them along. When you tried to move you felt like you were on fire again for a moment, the medicince does a good job of masking any discomfort but movement and irritation of your burns apparently isn't covered under that.

"Hey," you say, reminding everyone you're there. "Can we have names now?"

Your mother blinks then covers her face. "I forgots to do that again." You wait expectantly. "Yes, we can do that now."

She lines you up and then sits and looks at you intensely. Your youngest brother takes a step back at her direct gaze and you can't help but sympathize. Mom is very good at staring with four big black eyes.

"Shun," she says quickly, moving on after he acknowledges his name with a nod.

She points to you and seems to giggle to herself a bit before shaking her head, "Sunniva."

Turning to your sister she finds her asleep. The only one of your siblings besides yourself to not ask to go with her. She looks surprised but shrugs it off. "Someone tell her that her name is Koma when she wakes up." You give a little salute.

Your youngest sister is quickly declared to be "Min." She seems happy with the name.

Mom looks at your youngest brother for a long time, while he tries not fidget, before deciding on his name. "Jho," she says, "After my brother."

"You have a brother?" you ask, "Can we meet him?"

"I have three. Sadly, you can't meet them," mom shakes her head. "Jho left the swamp a long time ago after everyone asked him politely to seek more prey dense fields."

"What about the other two?" you persist.

"Gan, went looking for someting he couldn't find satisfactory quality of in the swamp. Los met a lady from another place and they took off to live far away," Mom explains, slightly lost in thought. "I wish they would visit.

You mother nods seriously. "I am very happy most things are too small to sets me on fire now."

You look at her enviously. After a minute of awkward silence she collects Shun, Min, and Jho, hehe names, and begins to set out.

"I'm sorry for setting myself on fire," you tell her as she makes her way out the door.

She shrugs, "I did not expect anyone in my family to be normal. This is a bit beyond what I expect but we will take things as they come." And then she heads the rest of the way through the door. Which takes a while she's not a short creature like you.

You sit for a few minutes with Kuru in idle silence.

"D- do you know how to stack rocks?" Kuru asks?

You vaguely recall auntie showing your a stack of rocks but you never found out why she was doing that. You nod to Kuru and she produces a sack and dumps out a bunch of colorful rocks on the floor. Not naturally colorful rocks but painted pastel colored rocks.

Kuru begins telling you about the art and sport of rock stacking, as she starts demonstrating how it's done. Apparently the game boils down to putting as many rocks on top of each other as one can without tipping over the tower. Since rocks are all different it requires a myriad of skills in order to make work. It can be played competitively or solo, and some lizards, like Kuru and auntie, even keep their own sets of randomly shaped rocks to stack. "It is a game of skill," says Kuru, "that shows control, planning, and observational skills necessary for lizards. And it's easy to play anywhere since rocks aren't that rare. Any lizard of distinction is at least familiar with the basics of stacking rocks.

"Does Mom play it?" you ask, taking some of Kuru's rocks to give it a try yourself.

"Didn't you see her pillars?" She points out the front door and you notice that the mossy rocky protuberances outside are actually different rocks stacked up on each other. "She's very good."

Most of the "rocks" in her piles are better described as boulders. You try not to think to hard about that and return to the game.

"How did you meet Mom and Auntie?" you ask.

"I grew up with them. Your mom and her siblings were hellraisers. A lizard who hasn't met one of them is a rare thing. Sarissa introduced me to fun things."

"You didn't know how to have fun?" you ask surprised.

"I did, but my family is..." she searches for a word, "protective. I don't really get out much. They disapprove of my spending time with your family since they get into so many dangerous things. You mother helped explain why they couldn't keep me from visiting if I wanted."

"How'd she do that?"

You nod. She sounds like she gets bored a lot. You're not sure how you feel about rocks but you probably won't be stacking them yourself anytime soon.

"Do you know any magic? I don't want to set myself on fire anymore."

She shakes her head. "You might ask a priest or your dad if he comes back. But your best bet would probably be the witch. I go near her house sometimes to look at the wisps."

Depends, for small scale games like this you usually knock them down to use again. The larger rock stacking things are sometimes kept as art pieces or just to see how long they last.

You fall quiet as you listen to Kuru tell you about the many vagaries of rock stacking. You spend time rolling her rocks around in your fingers to get a feel for them. Kuru prefers oval shaped rocks that are slightly flat on one or two sides. You remember Auntie's rocks were more blocky.

Hours pass and you practice with Kuru, sometimes playing solo and sometimes playing against Kuru. You set a personal record of 5 rocks high, and Kuru seems pleased at the speed you're picking this up. The basics of the game are fairly simple but mastery seems like it's a very long way off.

The afternoon passes this way.
