"Knock-knock," Colson mutters to herself. Talking to herself is a bad sign, she thinks as her heads-up flits over the scant information its external pickups can provide. Still no signal from home. "If only I had a buddy like Emery's."

Her heads-up can't tell Colson what's on the other side of the rock, but it can tell her exactly how hard the wall's composition is, and give the precise vector where to strike. It can even route Colson's power armor to aim with machine precision.

But Colson likes doing things her way, so she takes the heads-up as good advice and trusts it when it tells her that she's got everything lined up.

"Time to bring down the house," she mutters to herself and engages the power driver.

A tremendous single bang is muffled by the external pickup on her helmet, and so Colson only hears a loud crunch as the wall explodes, but no alarms shriek in her ears and the silence tells her she's still alive.

"Well?" she demands to her heads-up as she squints to see through the haze of dust, but her helmet's computer is dumb to their situation. Colson flexes her trigger finger on the driver, nervously licking her lips as the thought of something lunging out of the dust at her begins to rise, when suddenly lights twinkle all around her.

Oranganium, Colson thinks to herself. Civilians like her aren't even allowed to possess it. Just to use the bit at the end of her driver meant signing a draconian contract promising more money than she could ever repay if she was in any way responsible for losing it.

The electromacuahuitl may not be able to stand up to a direct hit from a device made of oranganium, but when Colson's heads-up twitches with electrostatic frequencies and the air around the blades begin to shimmer she knows it will do what she needs it to do.

First I put strips of tape over the mask and mouth, then I put a little bit of Brasso on a Q-tip and wiped it over the exposed part of the head. It only took a few swipes before the mustache was completely gone. However, newer pieces have harder coatings, so they take a lot more effort to remove prints. We'll see some more about that this weekend hopefully!

She keeps walking through the darkness, toward the ping where her heads-up briefly detected the energy signature of someone else's power armor. All she can think about is getting to them. Once she reaches them things will get better.

Colson almost shrieks when her heads-up blats a notice, and when she sees it telling her that another set of IEU power armor is immediately in front of her, she spins around, waving the power driver like a torch in the blackness, and sees what she's been traveling through the darkness to find.

Colson swings the driver like a club, a feat she wouldn't be able to pull off without her power armor, but the nightmare stuffed into the other armor isn't hindered by human anatomy, and it lunges out of her swing in an unnatural way. Caught off-guard, Colson is dragged after the oranganium's momentum-

"Shit," she gasps, as it drags her backward another meter, leaving a smear of broken egg along the rough ground.

The nightmare shifts its bulk in preparation for one final tug to tear her leg off, and Colson seizes the opportunity, rolling to the side enough to free one hand! As she thrusts it up it brushes a tendril that reflexively twines around it, but the action distracts the nightmare from its task and it focuses on Colson's hand!

Colson's heads-up continue crying warnings at her, but she can't read them anymore, and they only serve to make her more agitated, and so when she cycles up the suit's power to full capacity and tears the nightmare in half she doesn't stop to think what it will mean for her reserves.

When the nightmare's screams echo in her helmet Colson smiles.
