After a restful night of sleep, you wake up and get your things together. After a quick breakfast, you leave and head for the village gates.

You're set to go on an informal mission to the Village Hidden in the Stone and speak with the Tsuchikage. With both of the Stone's Jinchuuriki gone, they may no longer have any reason to cooperate with the Leaf. You'll have to think about what to say when the time comes. You just might be the last chance the two villages have to ally.

You approach the gates to find Kurotsuchi waiting for you.

"Hey, Kon!" she waves you down. "You look like you're ready to take off. Good. One thing though, what's with that guy? I thought this was just going to be the two of us."

Kurotsuchi points over her shoulder with her thumb at someone standing just past the gates that you didn't notice before. It's Neji, looking just a bit different from the last time you saw him. He walks over and addresses you.

"There were those that were apprehensive about having you travel to another hidden village alone." Neji tells you. "I volunteered to accompany you. I'll just tag along to keep an eye out for you however, I won't be meeting with the Tsuchikage. Of course if my presence really bothers you, I can bow out. This isn't a formal mission anyway, so I don't technically have the obligation to go."

It does make sense for someone else to come along and who knows, maybe Neji can let loose for a while himself.

"Come on, it'll be fun!" you insist. "You can meet my dad's family. They're cool guys, if a bit bombastic."

Neji obviously doesn't get it, but Kurotsuchi raises her eyebrow at your joke.

"Well I thought you were a bit old to be assigned a babysitter, but if you're just showing your friend around, that's fine." Kurotsuchi says. "I'll make sure he's accommodated."

"In all honesty, you're right. This is more of a vacation, I'm a bit superfluous." Neji tells you. "I figured that you didn't need anyone along, but if someone had to go, at least I might not be too intrusive."

You assure Neji that you want him to join you, and the three of you set off for the Stone. You want to travel quickly, but not gruelingly so, and decide on a pace that will get you there in four days. On the eve of the third day, the three of you are relaxing just before nightfall.

"So, Kon." Kurostuchi starts up some conversation. "How's life in the Leaf been treating you? Done plenty of training?"

You tell Kurotsuchi about life in the Leaf village. You actually never told her much on your last trip here, so there is plenty to say. You briefly mention training, but don't give any details. Obviously you also neglect to mention the contents of any missions. This essentially just leaves your daily routine and interactions with the other villagers, but Kurotsuchi listens intently regardless.

"I've also been looking to get some more in depth training, but I have to wait for another opportunity to come up." you finish. "What about you, Kurotsuchi? How is life in the Stone?"

"Oh it's not all so different from your village, just with more stubborn people." Kurotsuchi replies. "Our village's name is ever appropriate."

Kurotsuchi describes life in the Stone, and though it seems the Stone is much more strict than the Leaf, it operates much the same way. The villages are so similar, yet were bitter enemies not so long ago. Kurotsuchi sets the blame on the older generation, and subtly her grandfather. Implying that he's too old and needs to step down. But the animosity between villages has stayed strong for generations. You're not sure if it will be that easy.

After Kurotsuchi finishes, Neji speaks up.

"Speaking of being stubborn." he starts. "Have you given much thought to your appeal, Kon? I don't want to put too much pressure on you, but this a very important issue, and I don't think winging it would be very appropriate."

I'm thinking to appeal to his stubbornness, actually. The Akatsuki are rapidly approaching the point where they can establish themselves as a major power in their own right. Adding a new player to the game is just going to destabilize things more than they already are, loosen Iwa's grip on its power. It's in Onoki's best interests to maintain the status quo. A temporary alliance with Konoha is therefore preferable to the alternative.

We need to find out more about our Stone Family. Find out how things have changed since our uncle took charge, and expand on the good things the change has brought.

Maybe half-mention the Uchihas and their antagonism towards the Senju, but now the Hokage of the Leaf is one of them, and that the village is better when they work together. Try and avoid the whole mind-control bit, but eh.

Have we talked to Neji about the best spots to hit a person? We should get some taijutsu tips, just for the best places to strike the impact jutsu into.

You've thought of a few points, but you haven't come up with a way to put them altogether nicely.

If I can learn more about my uncle's clan and how it's changed, maybe I can relate that to him too."

"Not a bad idea." Neji replies. "The first one might be easier to convince him of, but may only be a temporary solution. Still, it may give you time to work things out further. The ideal would obviously be if he took to the change idea, but it might be a hard sell."

"You're telling me." Kurotsuchi adds. "I've been harping at him forever about getting with the times, but he won't have any of it. The old man is probably too set in his ways at this point. You're welcome to try, though. You might be able to get through to him some way."

After the next day of travel, the three of you arrive at the Village Hidden in the Stone.

"I"ll go get things worked out for your meeting." Kurotsuchi tells you. "This one was kind of spontaneous, so you may be looking at a couple of days."

After Kurotsuchi leaves, Neji speaks to you.

"If you want to spend time with your extended family, go ahead." he says. "I'll just find a place to stay for the duration of the trip."

The two of you make your way to the Bakutsugi mansion, and knock on the door. In a few moments, your uncle Katsuki opens it and greets you.

"Kon, good to see you!" he shouts, while pulling you in with his arm. "Kurotsuchi told me you were coming, come in, come in!"

After waving you inside, Katsuki looks to Neji.

"And who might you be?" Katsuki asks with an eyebrow raised. "Those shifty white eyes tell me you're a Hyuuga. You're not here to spy on our clan, are you?"

"My name is Neji Hyuuga." Neji says as he gives a bow. "I'm Kon's... friend, and I'm accompanying him on this trip."

"Is that so?" Katsuki snorts. He walks over to Neji and slaps him on the back as a smile erupts from his face. "Well why didn't you just say so? Any friend of Kon's is a friend of ours, let me tell you!"

The three of you walk into the mansion's common room and take a seat at a table.

"I'll make sure to get a room ready for you two, you'll be staying for a few days, right?" Katsuki gets the attention of a maid and tells her to get a guest room ready. "So how's life, Kon?"

Although, on the subject of Akatsuki, just between you and me, we may have some information you might not yet be privy to. I could tell you what I know, but it might be better to go through the proper channels. Though the old man may not want to release any information that could reflect badly on the Stone, so you might not get it anyway. Hmm."

Katsuki scratches his head as he tries to puzzle this out.

He was the Tsuchikage's pupil, until one day he stole one of the village's forbidden jutsu and fled. But not before he blew up quite a few buildings. He's a tough customer, for sure. He likely has the greatest mastery of Explosion Release, better even than my own. The is one more thing. I'd like you to keep this one as secret as possible. The Tsuchikage himself has actually hired the Akatsuki for a couple of missions. This was before you came to us on your diplomatic mission of course, but it happened. Try not to let the knowledge influence you, though. I'm pretty sure his dealings with them are done."

Katsuki finishes, and then waits for you. Neji is eyeing you, compelling caution on your part.

Leave out Taiyaki, of course, kid doesn't deserve to be put in danger like that. Also leave out details about Naruto. No one knows he exists, Jiraiya ran a pretty good misinformation campaign. And the Leaf is already going to get enough flak thanks to Orochimaru (and Pain, if the link is discovered. And ESPECIALLY Obito), let's not add to it. Instead just let him know that they've captured the Nine Tails in addition to what Tailed Beasts he knows about. Besides, I don't believe Naruto is actually still alive. Pretty sure whoever we saw at the Valley of the End was just some deception. It makes no sense for Naruto to have been allowed to live and retain the Nine Tails. The more likely explanation is that, since Pain mainly uses bodies Jiraiya's interacted with before, that Naruto was killed during the extraction and made into a zombie.

So what would the best way impact can beat explosion? Feedback it with a barrier but around the explosion with it?

Kon loves explosions, he must know the best way to stop the ka-boom.

Well, Deidara never uses Explosion Release on its own. It's always infused into his clay constructs, which gives us two ways that I can think of to deal with it. Firstly, since the clay is manipulated with an Earth technique, our Lightning chakra can negate it. Going by canon, this seems to disarm the bombs, too. Secondly, the clay is sensitive to shocks, and we are awesome at shockwaves. So we can probably prematurely detonate it at range.

"Well, we've encountered a few of the Akatsuki members." you start. "Orochimaru of the Leaf's Sannin being one of them. We also encountered a puppetmaster from the Sand, Sasori. There's also Kisame of the Seven Swordsmen of the Hidden Mist, and Kakuzu, a ninja from the Village Hidden in the Waterfall."

You expand on all the Akatsuki members that you can, Katsuki listening intently.

"One last thing, Akatsuki already got a hold of the nine tails years ago." you finish. "That's why we've been trying to work with the other villages."

"I see." Katsuki rubs his chin. "Akatsuki wouldn't be coming to you, so in order to make a difference you reached out to us. Makes sense. Thank you for the information. I'm sure it'll be put to good use."

Katsuki excuses himself, as he has some business to attend to. Dinner isn't for a few hours, so you have to find a way to occupy your time. Neji seems content to do just about anything, so you could probably hang out with him. You could also just get to know some other clan members. You never actually held a conversation with any besides your uncle.

I think what we said should be fine. If I remember right from when the invasion was being explained, it's already public knowledge that Leaf doesn't have a jinchuriki. So we didn't reveal any weakness on our part (especially with Stone not having any either, now). All we told was that Akatsuki has a powerful weapon that needs to be taken into consideration when judging their threat, which we probably would have mentioned during negotiations with Onoki, anyway.

You figure that even though you feel like you get along well with the clan, it would be better to actually get to know some of them better.

You start to approach a group of older guys, but they awkwardly disperse and leave the room when they see you and Neji approach. There is a younger girl sitting on the floor at the edge of the room, messing with something laid out on a cloth. She doesn't seem like she's in any hurry to go anywhere, so it might be your chance to chat with someone.

You and Neji walk over to her. She has blond hair in a ponytail, and seems to be around your age. More surprisingly, she only has one blue eye, her left eye is covered by an eyepatch. Her left hand also seems to be artificial. She's messing around with some explosives, looks like making some sort of cannon.

Once you and Neji are standing right next to her, she addresses you without turning from her work.

"Did you need something?" she asks, notably less friendly than the other clan members. "You interested in my work?"

"The name's Deikida." she says, extending her good hand to shake with you. "You're Kon, right? The clan head won't stop talking about you. Kurotsuchi has mentioned you before too. I was out on a mission when you were here last year, so I didn't get to meet you."

You're surprised that she'd offer to help so easily, but it's welcome regardless.

"That'd be great." you tell her. "How about you, Neji?"

"It certainly couldn't hurt." Neji responds. "The Akatsuki are likely much less dangerous if you're prepared for them."

"Sounds like a plan, then." Deikida grins. "I'm still working, but I'm not doing anything tomorrow. We'll get together at the training ground out back, and see exactly what you can do."

The rest of the day passes relatively uneventfully, eating a pleasant dinner with the clan before retiring to a guest room that's been set up for you and Neji and turning in for the night.

The next morning, the two of you eat breakfast before heading out back and meeting Deikida. She looks like she's rigged up with a lot of gear.

"So Kon, what exactly did you want to try?" she asks. "You've got some special release, right? Maybe that could do something."

Deikida seems strangely eager to find a way to counteract her own technique, but you put that aside for now.

"I want to see how the releases interact." you say. "Mine is made of both of the elements that trump the elements in Explosion Release, so I think it's got a good shot of shutting it down."

You spend the day practicing various interactions between Impact and Explosion Releases. You discover that if you can hit an object that's been infused with explosive chakra with an Impact chakra imbued strike, it completely negates it, and the object does not explode. However you need to hit it directly, long range Impact attacks don't work. They do stop explosions after they've gone off well, though. If you use an Impact blast against an explosion, the explosion is pushed away, and leaves you unharmed. By the end of the day, it seems that your release is a perfect counter to Explosion Release.

"So that's that, huh?" Deikida says as she packs her cannon up. "I guess your dad finally pulled one over on his clan through you, huh? Impact Release pretty much stops Explosion Release in its tracks. It's perfect. Exactly what we need."

Neji, who has basically been observing this whole time, comes over.

"Kon's release has been quite the boon to him." he remarks. "It's among the most versatile jutsu I've seen, and he uses it to great effect. Akatsuki will have to watch themselves."

This training has been very enlightening. You feel a lot more confident knowing that your release could potentially completely shut down one of the Akatsuki.

"Thanks for your help, Deikida." you say.

"No problem." Deikida replies. "Just make sure your talk with the Tsuchikage goes well, so our villages can work together. I need to get a piece of Akatsuki too. Make sure I get to come along."

Deikida takes off and you turn to Neji.

"Do you want to train too?" you ask.

"I'm fine for now." Neji responds. "You may not realize, but I've been training all this time. You see, the Hyuuga's kekkei genkai is not just our eyes. We can expel chakra instinctively from any point on our bodies. It's how we use our Rotation technique. Ever since I joined ANBU I've been doing this specialized training to precisely control my movements by expelling chakra. It has allowed me to reach a proficiency surpassing any Hyuuga."

Neji jumps up into the air and then does something strange. It looks as though he jumps again in midair. He he then starts moving in a completely different direction without touching anything. After he lands, he explains.

"I developed this technique to control my movement in midair." Neji boasts. "I call it Air Step. No other Hyuuga has trained enough to do this. Anyway, sorry. I'm a bit tired, so I can't train with you right now. It wouldn't be worthwhile in my state, anyway."

As Neji finishes, you see Kurotsuchi approach from around the mansion.

"I thought I'd find you out here." she says. "I got a meeting set up. Tomorrow at noon you'll speak with the Tsuchikage. Are you ready?"

Sorry, but I don't know how to help you. I might be able to add in something if it comes up tomorrow, but for now I'm at a loss."

Neji calls to you as Kurotsuchi finishes. "I'm going back inside to rest until dinner, I've tired myself out. I'll see you later."

Nehi goes back inside, leaving you alone with Kurotsuchi.

"Looks like it's just the two of us then, huh Kon?" she says, putting her hand on your shoulder and leaning towards you. "So how about you go ahead and show me some more of that release, huh?"

Another chance to practice against someone with a kekkei genkai. It'd be a good idea to see exactly how the releases behave against each other.

You decide that the whole point of this was to use your release. Dodging defeats the purpose.

You perform the hand signs, then put up your barrier in anticipation. The corrosive liquid hits the barrier and is blocked, but something's wrong. The chakra you use to form the barrier is becoming unstable. Now that you think back on it, the same thing was happening against Sasuke's final attack in your spar, but you just chalked it up to being extremely tired. Sasuke's attack was very short anyway. This one is sustained, and your chakra is draining at an alarming rate. You don't know how long you can keep it up. You pour as much chakra as you can at once into the barrier and quickly jump clear of the attack.

Kurotsuchi stops her jutsu and runs over to you laying on the ground, looking very concerned.

"Kon, are you okay?" she asks. "Sorry, that was a bad idea, I shouldn't have done it."

Kurotsuchi helps you up with her shoulder and walks you inside where you can lie down. You're exhausted, but it's nothing a night of sleep won't fix.

Kurotsuchi helps you out by bringing your dinner to you in your room.

"Again, really sorry Kon." she emphasizes. "It won't happen again, I promise."

Eventually after you've eaten, Kurotsuchi heads home and leaves you to rest. You'll need to be rested for the confrontation you'll face tomorrow.

Huh. I have no idea how to interpret this. If it was actual lava, then together with the Rasengan giving it trouble I'd assume that it had trouble dealing with energy attacks like intense heat or raw chakra. But it's not lava, it's corrosive volcanic chemicals, and I can't see how acid can destabilize a repulsive forcefield. There's something else going on here. Maybe to do with the elemental balances? Impact is lightning and wind, Lava is earth and fire, so when they clashed part of the jutsu was strengthened but part weakened, and that destabilized its cohesion? But that wouldn't explain its issues with the Rasengan, so again, something else going on.

Another nature would take a few weeks of training, Sasuke can actually use all five by now, so it's doable

1 handed seals could take months, they are tough. Haku might be able to give you some tips though

Kabuto has told him about you, and while he doesn't have anything against you personally, he realizes that interacting with you will likely never be beneficial, so he plans on steering clear of you if possible

In all instances they're never simultaneous, as manipulating two elements at the same time without a kekkei genkai doesn't seem possible.

As for a secondary element, Water plays well with both Wind and Lightning, has a lot of utility techniques, and helps counter our one real weakness (Fire). So I'd say that would be a high priority for future training.

I have an idea but it only works if we get Sage Mode: Monkey.

We create a clone of each Nature and each of those clones only use attacks (basic ones) of their corresponding type. Sage mode would be required to provide enough Chaka for it to be effective. The Sixth Monkey is us using impact Chakra

Kinda a hark back to Kakuzu since he was our first Akatski fight. Imagine is we wear a mask with this, a bunch of Nature powered ninjutus slinging Monkeys. It could be awesome
