Before hanging up, Irene gives me her cellphone number since apparently she needs a new number every time she dies. I'm too weirded out to ask her exactly how her respawning thing works.

After entering Irene's contact info into my phone, I put it into my jacket pocket and return my attentions to the beautiful woman who is sitting across the room looking kind of really miffed about something.

I know that sounds weird but I can't think of any other way to word it.

Lorelei heaves a sigh.

"And, uh..." I search for something else to day. "I didn't mention you at all to them so you don't have to worry about that."

"You're done texting whoever it was that you were talking to?" I ask.

But since I'm the one taking the lead here instead of her, I pull back before our petting gets too heavy.

Once Lorelei emerges from the bathroom (fully-dressed, much to my slight disappointment), I head in right after her and take a quick shower. It feels really weird to do so so soon after having already been in here, but eh.

After drying off and putting by clothes back on and all that, I rejoin my beautiful girlfriend in the main area of this hotel room.

"What's the plan now?" Lorelei asks. "I know you mentioned before that you normally visit your mother in the hospital every day, is that where you wanted to go now?"
"Actually," I reply, "I was thinking that maybe we ought to try and end this business with the book sooner rather than later."

Lorelei stares at me with a puzzled look in her eyes.
