Okay everyone, I'm stuck behind a counter for the next few hours, so please help me kill some time by rolling up some space marines with me!

https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Space_Marine_Chapter_Creation_Tables

Roll 1d10 for why the chapter was founded.
>>
Rolled 7 (1d10)

I don't do Warhammer, but have this roll & go with my blessing.
>>
>>62833872
>Standing Force - "This area doesn't have any Marines in it. Found a Chapter!"

We were founded to be a bulwark, to stand firm against the enemies of man. But how long have we stood watch? Roll 1d100 for when the chapter was founded.

Our Gene-Seed was provided by the Ultramarines, the first sons of Roboute Guilliman. We have the blood of heroes in our veins, and strive to live up to the honor bestowed unto us. Now, how far has the apple fallen from the tree? Roll 1d10 for Gene-Seed purity.

We rule by proxy, preferring to focus on our most sacred duty. Now, we must answer an important question. How do we view the Codex Astartes? Roll 1d10 for chapter organisation.

>>62834421

There is much wisdom to be found in the Codex, but we view it more as a set of guidelines, something to be interpreted rather than blindly obeyed. Now, what is our preferred method of bringing death to our enemies? Roll 1d10 for combat doctrine.

>Special Mount: While other Chapters may keep animals as companions, this Chapter uses them for what they were intended for — transportation. Examples: Fenrisian Wolf, Carnodon, very angry Grox.

At some point in our colorful history, we have taken to raising and riding upon great beasts. We can work out the specifics of that later. For now, roll 1d100 for what form our chapters beliefs take.

>The Emperor Above All - "Screw your spiritual liege. The big E is where it's at."

There are none more worthy of praise and reverence than the Emperor, the Master of Mankind himself. We swear undying loyalty to Him, serving with all that we have. Now, we have served long, and weathered many storms. How many scars do we bear? Roll 1d10 for chapter strength.

>Over Strength: Some Chapters maintain more than the prescribed ten companies, though it is rare for more than a handful more to be fielded and even then only temporarily. It may be that the Emperor’s Tarot has predicted terrible losses ahead, or that the Chapter simply regards its numbers as optimal and cares little for the dictates of the Codex Astartes.

We stand mighty and unflinching, ready to meet our enemies, and crush them beneath our boots. That being said, none can stand alone, no matter how mighty they are. Roll 1d100 for chapter allies.

Our greatest allies are to be found among our fellow Astartes, noble warriors of the Emperor. We can decide which chapter that is later. For now, who, among the xenos and the heretics, do we hate above all? Roll 1d100 for our chapter's enemies.

We hold the minions of chaos in highest contempt, with a special hatred for a particular Daemon Prince. Perhaps the very one responsible for the loss of our Master of Sanctity. That's all the rolling done, so now we have a few things to handle.

As for the mounts, we have to ask WHY we ride them- are they a massive part of our recruiting pool's culture, important for some reason to the chapter's culture, are they incredibly useful on the battle field in some way that vehicles can't be (e.g. aquatic, natural invisibility, natural psyker powers or even animals that mimic the abilities of pariahs/blanks?)

As for our ally, perhaps we somehow saved them from being corrupted/destroyed by the daemon prince and they owe us. That, of course, might warrant rolling up another chapter (possibly renegades due to the rest of the Imperium not trusting them after coming that close to falling?)

i'm up for doing that

obviously they are great jungle beasts that once terrorized the planet before we made it tame. They take to rough terrain better than tanks, cheaper than hover craft and hear me out. They're huge reptilian creatures with piercing claws that can easily climb sheer rock face, making them excellent for bypassing enemy defenses, climbing great walls and destroying the enemy from above.

"You ask about our mounts, Lord Inquisitor, and why we use them? We know well the strength of our war machines, and the power of our own flesh- what need should proud sons of Gulliaman have to relay on such crude creatures, as savages would? The reason is simple- they are a useful tool, and we are the masters. The mortals of this world once worshipped the beasts, until we disciplined them, and now each novice must slay one and steal its young to rear if they wish to join our ranks, and in doing so the reaffirm the Emperor's most ardent belief, which we hold fast to in all our deeds- humanity is supreme in the galaxy, and all other life exists to serve, or be destroyed. By forcing novices to kill and break in what they once saw as divine creatures, we drill into them this truth- mankind is the rightful ruler of all things. Do you take issue with this, Lord Inquisitor?"
-Attributed to an unknown Sergeant of the (INFORMATION REDACTED) Chapter to Inquisitor Kain during the Scouring of the Ebony Towers on Kolo-VII, dated at M38.

Was eating dinner.

So we're crusading around smashing any big gathering of Chaos nad rebels alongside hunting for any word on the DP that was banished alongside our MoS. This seems like a good start for us. They detest Mutants and heretics of all sorts, for anything less is an affront to our Emperor, Primarch and Purity above all. We are obviously pure as can be as befitting our divine heritage.

Our world was once backwater, but we have civilized it to a high standard in an effort to mimic Maccrage in it's splendor while maintaining our Homeworld's history and identity. We prefer to keep a hands off approach to its rule as we would rather continue our divine mission given long ago by Guilliman himself.
Over time we have diverged from the Holy Codex Astartes in the face of hardship and turbulence from enemies that defy meaning. We have become highly adept at breaking the walls and wills of those that seek to defy us, even wiping their works from existence.

We have tamed a species of Xenos from our homeworld as mounts and companions as a right of passage fro acolytes, so as to reaffirm Humanity's divine purpose of Galactic Dominion.

We have become notably overstrength over the course of millennia and our divergence.

We hold the Emperor and his vision as sacrosanct above everything else. And our great allies are the now rebilding Lamenters who we have begun to send aid to help them in these trying times.
>>
>>62847550
Primaris? Oh and their view of Gillman returning? Likely squealing like fangirls. And the whole direct order from Guilliman? True but of course drift/divergence has seen it as rather different than from what was originally handed to them.

The Red Talons are a storied Chapter of Astartes hailing from the 3rd founding, though some believe they're from the 2nd if some evidence is to be believed. Their dedication to the Emperor and Imperium is without doubt despite recent issues given their over strength Chapter, their Codex Divergence and in previous centuries their pact with the Lamenters during and following the Badab War and them holding it still when the Lamenters were undergoing their penitent crusade.

The return of Guilliman has been met with immense fervor and a tripling of their efforts to rid the Imperium of enemies.

Red Talon

Traditional Sword of office for the Chapter Master for the Red Talons. Passed down through the ages and is storied as the Chapter itself. It's origins date all the way back to the Great Crusade when it was the blade of office for the Consul of the ***th Company of the 13th Legion.

It's gets its name from the crimson hue of the blade when its disruptor field is unpowered. This was achieved through a process of coloring the metal through a lost practice. When the field is active, the blade shines with a crimson light.

Red Talon is not a particularly powerful blade, but it is regarded for how durable and well made it is. Being more efficient and usable is preffered for the Talons than being capable of felling a Dreadnought.

The DP (TBD) is regarded as a suave and erudite being from what reports and first hand accounts give. Very rarely odes it lose it's temper, but when it does its Khornate origins becomes apparent.

Is fairly mddling in power as far as Damon Princes go. Wen battling, it uses Telepathy and its natural weapons (claws, fangs and tail) to do most of its fighting and is quite skilled.

Hey, is our Master of Sanctity still alive? Would he even last very long in the warp, or would his extreme faith in the Emperor manifest in some way to protect him?
>>
>>62850148
Before our Daemon Prince turned to chaos, he was a revolutionary on one of our chapters planets, gathering the various gangs to resist the Emperor's rule in order to gain independence for his homeworld. Unfortunately, the revolutionary went off world to recruit rogue traders to his cause when our chapter's drop pods landed to nip his revolt in the bud. Our ships cornered him, but the Khorne cultists who stowawayed on the future daemon prince's ship convinced him to join chaos, and they destroyed one of our ships before escaping into the warp.

Because of his telepathic abilities, I think he used to be a librarian, and was caught spreading heretical rhetoric, calling for the wholesale slaughter of anyone he deemed too weak to live, which happened to be anyone who was not Astartes.

It's DoWII all over again. Why is it always Librarians falling to Khorne?
>>

>>62850623
Because of his former job as a librarian, he learned where the first space marines who died on his homeworld were buried. He dug up their sarcophogi, and planned to use them as payment for the rogue trader mercenary army. When our chapter's ships cornered him, he used the corpses as an ophering to Khorne in order to solidify his allegience.
>>
>>62850781
That should be the source of the rivalry since the future DP dared to use the sacred remains of Astartes to pledge his foul allegiance to chaos

>This is great fluff. Reaffirming mankind's superiority over nature itself.
Cheers! I didn't want to go full HFY, but I feel it makes sense for the chapter as we're starting to establish, and makes for a unique point of training- it would also explain why they detest Chaos the most, as they find it disgusting any human would submit to them like that.
>>62852062
I was thinking, for the whole oversized aspet, how are we going to do that? Are we just BT- Ultras edition and don't care what the Codex says, do we just maintain an extra Scout company for the hell of it, do we have a whole cavalry company, or did we request a full Primaris company despite already being at max legal numbers? I'm leaning towards the last.

Also, is the DP a rampaging dino or cunning manipulator?
>>
>>62852996
> for the whole oversized aspet, how are we going to do that?
I think a full Primaris company would make the most sense. After all, we fight the foul minions of Chaos every single day, besieging their strongholds and shattering their walls to put them to the sword. More marines are always needed to properly combat the Archenemy.

> is the DP a rampaging dino or cunning manipulator?
I think it should be a manipulator normally, spreading discontent and rebellion wherever it goes. That said, it is a Daemon Prince of Khorne, so it should be driven to some truly horrifying frenzies from time to time.

I concur with the Primaris. These guys were already at bursting due to their training, recruiting practices. But they couldn't say no to new Marines from Guilliman himself. They'd accept without a second thought.

In ages past they've skirted with the Ordo Astartes on a nuber of occasions relating to their fervor and numbers many times. They've normally been resolved with little fanfare, but their was an incident that actually caused them pause.

During a siege on a Shrine World taken over by rebels, the Talons were a little *too* zealous in purging them and managed to flatten/demolish a number of shrines. Some of these dating back to the Crusade and were documented as beng related to Guilliman himself when he inducted the planet into the Imperium long ago. This will always be a sore point of dishonor for the Talons.
>>
Relations wise:
>On rather good terms with the UM. In the past they've actually had differences over issues relating to Codex adherence and the Talons becoming increasingly pro Emperor worship as time went on. The UM prided themselves as being *above* such petty things as it would get in the way of their duties. In modern times, with the return of Guilliman, Tyranids and many other things the bridges have been rebuilt between the two and despite the galaxy being split in two a new sense of being connected and unity has been born.

>Lamenters: They became good allies after a number of joint ops/crusades together some time after the Lamenters Founding. The RT saw the suspicion and wariness towards the Lamenters and the other Cursed Founding Chapters as being ridiculous. They were model citizens and Astartes and performed their duties with courage and honor. The Talons took a small mentorship role for the new Chapter until they were fully on their feet. It would be a huge war in M38 that would cement their friendship when the lamenters saved the Talons and a significant amount of Geneseed from Chaos forces despite severe losses to their own numbers.

Also being from a civilized world, the Talons prefer tea as opposed to other beverages as it's more efficient for them, though wine is on drunk on special occasions and for health benefits. They have a significant amount of hydroponics with herb gardens for this purpose and seasonings for food.

The RT are a study in opposites/seeming hypocrisy. They heavily emphasis themselves as being civilized while being savage/zealous in their efforts to purge those deemed unworthy of being in the Imperium. They (and as a relation to the Librarian turned DP) can be quite civilized but have been known for thir rages/wildness, some believe this to be a low key mutation/gene seed defect for it happens from the lowly initiate to even Chapter Master.

They emphasis how they have uplifted and civilized a number of worlds under their protection and then some of how they are better than "Savages" while wearing rather savage decorations and practicing tribal customs taken from their homeworld.

I'm terrible at actual writefaggotry:
>Sergeant Praesios Celux of the 3rd Company could not belive his eyes. TheResting Grounds where the Red Talons fallen brothers slept for eternity, was desecrated. And by one of their one no less. Security reports said it was Librarian Megustius Domiel. For what reason they still were unsure, but this *Would* not stand. Dozens of bodies, remains and their interred personal affects were gone and lost to the winds, likely to never return.

>The Internals Office said that Megustius had this all planned years in advance ready to leave at a moments notice. The trail was still fresh however, which mant there was still a chance of the recovery being successful. But as Praesios looked upon the disturbed grounds, he was not so sure. Was nothing sacred...
>>
The siege was going quite well all things considered thought Mikello Triros, Chapter Master of the Red Talons. The predictive models and scouts deemed the Heretics would surrender within a day due to the civilians having enough of it all and help sow confusion by uprising from within. While many would be put to the torch, as befitting traitors and heretics, many would be spared for coming to their senses and returning to the God Emperor's Light. This siee was nothing special compared to others, the Red Talons were on their way back home when an Astropathic call from loyalist forces of a world that managed to get out a message under the noses of the Traitors. While they were likely dead or in hiding it mattered not, the Talons descended upon this collection of systems and began a small crusade that was swiftly ending.

Compared to other such reclamations, these traitors were fairly fresh and incapable of gathering their forces, the nobles hadn't a single warriors bone in their bodies. For their arrogance of presuming to leave the protection of the Emperor, Mikello would teach them this lesson personally.

Any one here?

I'm gonna walk my dogs and won't be back for a bit.

The Resting Grounds

A traditional burial grounds on the Homeworld of the Red Talons Chapter, (TBD). Long held as sacred by the Chapter and the inhabitants of the planet, it is the final resting spot for all Maries. It is the first and largest of all of the burial grounds used bt the Talons across the worlds they have uplifted and helped bring into the fold of the Imperium. Typically they are manned by Serfs and even Scouts as a way of teaching them humility and understanding their new lives within the Chapter. Living, sleeping and eating among the burial mounds and graves teaches one the inevitability of death and to honor those that came before.

In M??, the Traitor Librarian Megustius would desecrate the Resting Grounds by digging up the relics and remains of dozens of the first interred Marines of the Chapter that were buried on the planet. He would later use them as offerings to Khorne and become a Daemon Prince with said sacrifice.

Red Talon's name is a point of speculation for the Chapter. Was it named after the Chapter in honor to be a symbol of them? Was is named for the Chapter? None are sure, for the history of the blade outside of it's origins is shruded by the mists of time. It is known that the composition is quite unlike other Power Bldes, mostly in it's color given its distinctive red. It's design, notably geometric and simple compared to other Swords is noted.

But most importantly is that the blade is being seen less and less upon the field of battle as the Tech marines have noticed accumulating microfractures and defects appearing that cannot be mended as before. The loss of knowledge over the millennia and Red Talon's continual use will see it regulated to a purely ceremonial purpose in the near future. Their is talk of the construction of a new Red Talon to take it's place in battle, but many in the Chapter note how a page of history for the Red Talons will forever close with the blades decommissioning never t purge the galaxy of the Emperor's foes.
>>
>>62857288
if you don't mind, I have an idea for some writerfaggotry on how the blade ends up permanently become ceremonial after one last use in combat
>>
>>62857393
Go for it. I enjoy the idea of this long lasting blade having one last hurrah before breaking/shattering.
>>
>>62857443

>>
>>62857496
Breaking their blades in burial rites like the Scythians and their spears? They also use burial mounds, actually that sounds like a good culture to derive from and the Sarmatians which people belive King Arthur is derived from.
>>
>>62857646
>>62856678
The Resting Grounds are situated with the numerous Glades, desertlike forest/jungle clearings that are largely devoid of human habitation. Further defenses, such as infrared 'blasters' keep many large animals from disturbing the mounds looking for scraps to eat. Many mounds are dedicated to honored brothrs from Squads or more commonly huge communal ones that are dedicated to the Companies of the Chapter where the fallen are interred forevermore. Gotta get to work, and I won't be posting due to 4Chan being IP banned.

The end of the M41 was among the darkest time for the Red Talons. The opening of the great rift had left them cut off from the Emperors holy light, with the encroaching darkness spewing forth legions of the damned. Among those was the traitorous librarian, now fully corrupted as one of Khorne's pawns. The Daemon Prince's reemergence into the Materium led to the siege of (Chapters Homeworld to be determined) were for 50 bloody years the Red Talons fought valiantly against their hated foe. Though as the years went by the Prince continued his slow march, a soon laid siege to the Chapters Fortress Monastery. Even with all hope seeming to be lost the Red Talons continued with their duty to their Primarch and Emperor, determined to fight to the bitter end. It was during the final days of the siege that the Chapter Master of the Red Talons wielded the Talon one last time to rally his brothers to ever greater feats of heroism and to lead a last charge against the Prince, intending to bring it down with him. On the final day of the siege, when the Daemon Prince breached their defenses and the chapter ready to make its final stand at the tombs of their brothers that the Chapter received word of the Indomitas Crusades arrival with their Primaris reinforcements raining down behind the enemy. With the return of their Primarch, the chapter zeal increased to new heights, the Red Talons fought with such fanaticism and devotion to repel the Khornate legion to their gates. It was at this gate that the Chapter Master and his honor guard faced off against the traitorus Librarian. Despite the Talons age, its machine spirit was able to hold the blade together fueled by its wielders fanatical devotion to the Emperor even with its fellow blades shattering under the Daemons blows. For hours the Talon Master and his retinue fought at the gate with the battle raging around them. (1/2)
>>
>>62857924
Despite the Chapters newfound zeal, during the final minutes of the duel it was only the Chapter Master left to face the daemon at the gate, the Talon on the verge of collapsing. Sensing its victory against the chapter master near, the daemon tempted him to turn his rage against him into bloodlust and to sell his soul to the Blood God. But that Chapter Master refused, his rage being pure and once more dueled the daemon once more. Despite the grievous wounds the Chapter Master and the Talon sustained, he kept on fighting determined to bring the daemon down infuriating the Prince who was slowly giving in to his Khornate nature. This was let to the daemons downfall as behind him, the leader of the Primaris reinforcements was able slam his aggressor clad armor into the daemons back taking its focus away from the Chapter Master and giving in to its rage to smite the mortal that dared to attack it from behind. With this brief window, the Red Talon's Chapter Master plunged the Talon into the daemon's heart and used its remaining energy to slain the beast causing the sword to discharge, shattering the sacred sword from within. The daemon prince fell to the ground with its corpse soon disappearing leaving behind the shattered remains of the talon. The leader of the Primaris Marines then picked up the shards and use them to cut his fingers, letting the blood paint them crimson and declared his allegiance of him and his brothers to the Chapter. Hence forward, the sacred blades remains were enshrined into the burial site of the Chapters fallen brothers, only to be used for the Chapters newest battle brothers to paint their finger crimson in their blood to signify their new allegiance to the Chapter. Going oof my idea here>>62857646
the Equator is full of Jungles and the like while the rest is Plains/Steppes/Hills and the like where the human population lived far away from the *Dracoths*. They were largely medieval-renaissance level tech but the *Dracoths* were numerous, powerful and hidden within the Jungles making it next to impossible for the humans to actually expand into their. With the arrival of the RT, who in the GC were a grand company/chapter of the 13th Legion, arrived alongside an exploratory force, they aided the humans in exchange of uplift and brought into the Imperial fold. They would sweep away the *Dracoths* with ease thanks to weaponry, aerial control and numbers and shattered the myths and superstitions of the native humans which helped speed up the uplifting. The Chapter/Company would take a liking to the populace and recruit from their youth to replenish their strength, and pretty much turn it into their version of a civilized world.

Later after the Heresy with the 2nd and 3rd foundings, the guys who found the world would gain control as their new Homeworld to recruit from. Since then they have made immense progress in civilizing/industrializing the planet and turning the *Dracoths* into war beasts/companions.

I think with the Siege focus they were a Siege/Engineering Chapter/Company when they were part of the 13th legion.
>>
>>62865313
The whole thing with them being so into "Civilising" could stem from their geneseed and how OCD the 13th are about organization/structures. They are *Really* into civil engineering and fortification in addition to breaking down the works of their foes. They wish to break down their enemies while building up humanity above the filth and squalor.

Master of Sanctity Atanaverus Victus never liked Megustius. He always believed the Librarian would be trouble since he was an initiate for the Red Talons. Conniving, shifty and many other monikers could be attributed to him. But despite these he was resourceful and adaptive to his situations along with following the rules to both letter and spirit which he had going for him to prevent censuring. Nonetheless, Atanaverus felt the need to keep an eye and ear upon the Librarian at all times, just to be sure. The feeling in the back of his had wouldn't go away.

Where is everyone?

I see Atanaverus as being a rather level headed guy among the fire and brimstone preachers many of the RT Chaplains tend to be. He rose to his position not simply for being a true believer like the rest, he really is a devout in the Cult of the God Emperor. He just doesn't let it blind his potential or duties to his Brother and the Imperium. This made him the best choice for the job in all honesty along with his no nonsense attitude toheresy and troublemakers.

Her personally led the destruction of numerous Chaos Artifacts/devices and the purging of various populations that were deemed "Unclean or Unworthy".

He is essentially, he is a dark rendition of the "Good guys will kill you instead of preach to the bad guy"

Master of the Forge Bellerex Sirius

"You sure he wasn't snatched from the Iron Hands?"
-Mere seconds before said Battle Brother was put to work scraping the muck and grime between the tread gears of the 5th Company Tanks.

Dour, married to his job, and a hatred of the Flesh characterizes MotF Sirius. A common joke is that Sirius was either stolen or gifted to the Talons by the Iron Hands or one of their successors, for little else can explain his attitude among the more lax RT Techmarines. Near fully cyberized, Sirius is an anomaly among his fellows in the forges eversince he returned from Mars after his training and being ordained tinto the Machine Cult. Rumors persist that this was deliberate by the Red Priests to spy on the Talons and to keep them in check for whatever reason.

Despite these rumors, Sirius has kept his beleiefs to himself and has never tried to 'convert' his fellow Tech Brothers or even the Serfs that work alongside them. He merely has taken fully to the Will of the Omnissiah in his words.

The rest of the Chapter Command have found little to sway them against Sirius and find such rumors and heresay scandalous to such a productive Talon who has shown little but devotion to purging the Imperium's enemies whether on the field or readying the Chapter's arsenal to the utmost of his abilities.
>>
>>62866743
Pretty good, plus we do need more details on him since he is likely to be the chapters legendary figure
>>
>>62866743
Atanaverus legend would truly manifest d=throughout the pursuit of Traitor Megustius (Needs a better name) after the truth of his dealings and the theft of the Honored First Burials. Owing to his spying of Megustius, Atanaverus was given command over a hunt for him, feelers were sent out across the Chapter's information network across the Sector to cut off the Thief and his allies. This chase would go on for several years and Atanaverus would abdicate his position as MoS to better deal with the hunt. It would be in a Space Hulk where Megustius was finally cornered by Loyalist pursuers readying to strike the final blow. But realizing his entrapment, Megustius played his last card: An offering to Chaos in exchange for Ascension to Princehood. Megustius was fairly well versed in the manners of Sorcery and Chaos owing to his age and illict study into the Ruinous Powers over the centuries. He understood the mechanisms and steps to achieve the end result.

It would be right as Atanaverus and his companions finally breached the inner sanctum that they knew they were too late. Megustius had merely been waiting for the final dramatic moment to proceed with the offering, using the bloodshed committed by Atanaverus and co. against his cultists to create enough bloodshed to appease Khorne for Princehood. Right then was the ritual complete and in Megustius place was Meg'Sek'Khar. With his newfound power Meg'Sek'Khar began to tear into the Loyalists with animalistic fervor and abandon. He had acquired a high unlike any other, and he relished it. The loyalists were but ants before his foul, unholy might ripping through mind, body and soul with disgusting ease. Their weapons finding little access to damage Meg'Sek'Khar. Atanaverus would begin to damage the sanctum and warp portal generators so as to take Meg'Sek'Khar along with him to potentially banish it if only for a while, such a foul being could not be allowed to run amuck of realspace against Imperial Citizens. TBC
>>
>>62867454
From that day on, the Red Talon's hono Anataverus' sacrifice by furthering their efforts against Chaos and the enemies of Mankind. Their vigilance was simply too focused on the without and not within. They had been blinded by their own fervor and did not notice the traitor within their midst the whole time. The Megustius Betrayal caused a noticeable shift in the doctrine and internal regualtions of the Red Talons even moreso compared to the earlier Axamedes Uprising during the Age of Apostasy when 2nd Captain Axamedes Esdraar tried to overthrow the Chapter to bring them in line with the decrees of Goge Vandire.

The Librarium itself was given further scrutiny by the Chapter Regulation and its own members, they had failed utterly to prevent so much loss of life and history by not enough controls and balances against Megustius.

The Title given by the people of (Homeworld) to the Chapter Master of the Red Talons is generally translated as "King of the Jungles" emphasizing the Marines complete domination of the jungles an *Dracoths* of the Equatorial band millennia ago. Given their myths, fear and awe the peoples of (Homeworld) had to the Jungles and *Dracoths*, it is no wonder they folded so easily to Imperial rule and Uplift. This has only been reinforced ever since the Chapter set up shop and made (Homeworld) their new base of operation long ago.
>>
>>62868312
After the domination of (Homeworld) and the *Dracoths*, extensive scouting and research into the once mysterious Jungles. Many secrets were uncovered and mysteries solved. The remains of the first Colonization ships, overgrown cities and all manner of riches could be found within the the jungles.

But most importantly was the findings that gave light to the origins of the *Dracoths* themselves, for many in the Explorator Fleet did not believe the *Dracoths* were a natural occurencetoo the planet, as so far their had been little evidence the planet had extensive Genetic Engineering at such a scale to provide for the *Dracoths*. What were found were numerous, and thankfully destroyed, Webway portals. It is believed that the portals may have led to Exodite or Maiden worlds which the *Dracoths* were native too. It is unlikely the trusth shall ever be uncovered though.
>>
>>62868420
>>62868420
Does this sound like a good twist? Or should they be kept to being human creations? Then it'd just be a quick fix to the fluff of several Gene labs being uncovered by the Explorators.
>>
>>62868551
Either way could work, imo
>>
>>62868626
I'll keep it open.

The Red Talons make use of the 8Dracoths* as heavy cavalry best used in rough terrain I.E. Mountains, Hills, etc. Where their strength and talons are put to the best use possible. While not particlary fast, their ability to traverse landscapes normally requiring offroad vehicles or even in somecases aerocraft is a blessing. The fact they can tear lesser being to bloody chunks with terrifying ease is another point in their favor.
>>
A typical burial rites fro the fallen Red Talons involves the removal of their wargear and geneseed to be put to use later. Then their body is laid to rest alongside personal affects gathered over their lifetime of service, whether they be hand carved wood trinkets, the scrimshawed bones of a Beast and others. They are then laid with a ceremonial wepon of choice designated by a will they write out, these tend to be swords, though spears, axes and the like are not uncommon. Finally, after a procession is made by Astartes and pilgrims the body is laid to rest alongside his Company Brothers for eternity to feast alongside the Emperor.
>>
Any good ideas for a Homeworld name?

Due to the overall lack of contact/civilization in the Jungles the cultures of the Homeworld has largely been near-Central Asian due to the plains, hills and such that exist outside the jungles. This reflects in the modern myths/legends still surrounding the jungles, even after millennia of habitation within people are still frightened/weirder out by it all.
>>
>>62869234
Well if we are having a central asain theme for the main pop along perhaps something that has meaning within one of those central asian languages

>>62869503
Religiously, the Red Talons have undertaken a notable change from the standard Astartes worship of the Emperor by incorporating numerous local elements into their rites. These involve prolific use of the elements (Earth, Wind, Water, Fire), animal sacrifice, local spirits turned Saints.

The most notable 'Saint' of (Homeworld) is Bartz, a warrior that has origins well before the arrival of the Imperium with numerous kingdoms, and such groups claiming descent from his loins. Many tales have been woven of Bartz heroism, wisdom andstrength against all manner of vile beings. These include the Dragon Osst, the Witch Sisters Ygsa and Ryst and a host of others. He was a uniter of the peoples of (Homeworld) into possibly the first Empire of the world until his death led to a splintering of the realm.

Nowadays Bartz is seen analogous more with the Emperor.

I'll have to look into names

Still can't sleep. I didn't forget.

The integration of (Homeworld) was around the end of the Great Crusade, which is why so many religions, cultures and the like survived and were mixed with the Imperial Cult to from a local sect. It also made further integration between the two groups more smooth.

Throughout the Heresy the 13th legion group that would later from the Red Talons had already been setting up the foundation for recruitment purposes and when news came they walled the surrounding systems and decided to wait out the Heresy given how spotty comms were at the time. Thus when the 2nd founding happened they sent representatives to Terra and were fromed into the RT by Roboute's orders. They have also been purging and crusading to make up for sitting out the Heresy when they culd have helped the loyalists, though they fully understand Imperium Secundus and why it happened.
>>
>>62871149
The Chapter is Siege focused more as a byproduct of their original training when part of the 13th Legion: Combat Engineering. Formed so as to both construct defenses for friendly forces and deal with enemy fortifications, they were not as good as the 7th or 4th but were excellent when compared to the rest of the 13th Legion.

Since then, the Red Talons have vastly improved their knowledge base and have bettered their engineering skills. While not crusading they have been called uon to give advice and have even given direct engineering aid to important projects across the Subsector when needed.

Their work on the Fultes Dam and the rebuilding of Hive Trise support beams are common tales of their exploits

1st Company

1st Company of the Red Talons as befitting their age is the most veteran and honored Company of the Chapter. They hold the majority of the Veterans, Terminators and such high quality equipment. Though rather than let these skills go to waste, the Red Talons make use of a rotational schedule/list by having 1st Company Veterans be 'loaned' to other Companies periodically to help train and teach other Companies, most often the 10th being the Scout Training Company. This has lead to good relations between the Companies that has stood the test of time, gifting experience to the other Companies while humbling the Veterans.

Does anyone have a good idea for the homeworld's name? Because I'm thinking Aminon, a Caucasus god that was the gatekeeper of the underworld.
>>
>>62875949
Aminon sounds good to me
>>
>>62876093
Well if no one else minds I guess Aminon is the name of our homeworld.

Aminon is a world divided between three bands: North, Jungle and South.

The North and South have been the most populated historically even after Imperial Habitation and the construction of numerous cities/bases throughout. The simple efforts involved with jungle habitation means it can be a chore to construct, let alone maintain proper levels of civilization without completely uprooting them. Wild beasts, periodic floods, roots diiging into foundations are but the most common reasons why the jungles are still an elusive goal for theRed Talons.

While it would be easy for them to be rid of the jungles, they would prefer to go through the arduous process of 'Civilizing' the jungles through immigration and building. They in a sense wish to conquer them, not destroy them as that would defeat the purpose of their struggle.

Kurys
Capital City of Aminon, also the largest and most populated of the cities. Dates back to the Great Crusade when the Red Talons first set it up alongside Auxilla forces engineers. It also serves as the prime spaceport alongside a few others.

Was built within the largest of the equatorial jungles of Aminon to reinforce the Imperium's dominion over petty local superstitions.

The Claw

Fortress Monastary of the Red Talons. Situated upon a peninsula north west of Kurys. The peninsula itself is shaped like a hand/claw which is how the name was given. Each 'Finger' is home to Serf residences and harbors which they use for recreation and fishing

Aminon sounds fine

I also have a question about the homeworld. Someone mentioned the idea that the mounted beast we use can climb walls, and people seemed to like it. I was just wondering whether we wanted that to be because the planet had sections of it that had sheer cliffs, or if its because the treea of the jungle are huge, similar to the ones on Kashyyyk. Thoughts?
>>
>>62876782
That sounds good. It helps them be the former apex predators and a big reason why the Talons took them as mounts, they aren't the fastest but the make up for it in unusual mobility and sheer strength.

I have a question, why aren’t there any catachan space marines like aren’t they prime candidates for being space marines.
>>
>>62876862
Because the recruiting pool is far too small. And the Guard would fight toth and nail to keep the Catachans, Astartes or no. Their are plenty of Deathworlds for them to use.
>>
Have to go to work now, see ya after 6

So despite their divergences, the Talons would still likely have the same Wargear and whatnot. No custom tanks/guns and such.

The shield Optimus is carrying in that one pic is pretty interesting as its a Combi-Shield with what looks like a melta barrel attached to it. >>62849229
>>
>>62877130
I would say they have some sort of specialized armored vehicles for sieges such as artillery pieces
>>
>>62877130
>>62878501
Perhaps some sort of artillery gun pulled by some of the mounts?
>>
>>62878899
>>62878501
Finally I have a bit of a break. These sound like good ideas. Maybe either rockets/mortars or towed field guns?
>>
>>62880536
I like the idea of a mortar. Perhaps part of the STC for it was lost, and the only bit that was left was the gun, so the Talons have it towed instead.
>>
>>62881048
maybe something similar to the German railroad gun, but instead of using a train to move it they use beats
>>
>>62881422
A little too much. That encroaching on Ordinatus territory.
>>
I'm back again.

So we were talking about custom vehicles and I prefer the Mortar/Rockets that are attached to our mounts. More mobile but not very suited to a standard Siege, which could be a thing. The Talons prefer to entrap their enemies like the talons of a great predator to cut off any escape. The Dracoth Mortars/Rockets give our Brothers some extra oomph while in rough terrain when far away from air support/tanks. They are situational wepons but can be devastating when deployed right.

They make use of the Dracoths ability to scale sheer/rough surfaces and terrain to get into better positions, along with our Scouts and Assault/Vanguards placing demo charges and sniping enemies while we shell the heretics.
>>
>>62883284
The methods that the Red Talons use in their normal siege operations are actually based off of traditional warfare on Aminon between the various warring kingdoms. The typical combination of steppes, hills, mountains and other such terrain made the mass deployment of armies hard to perform. It also made the use of siege engines also difficult to deploy. Such terrain is not perticulary conductive to such things. As such, the Aminonese peoples made more use of "Siege Guerilla Warfare" where they would entrap and cut off enemy lands and cities. Lighter infantry and cavalry were common place among their forces. With the later invention of gunpowder and explosives, their was a shift towards more 'standard' Siege but the arrival of the Imperium saw an end to that.
>>
>>62883829
Just finished making dinner

Seems that is just...gone.

The rough and at time perilous geography Aminon has led to the RT being quite excellent wilderness fighters. Hills, Steppes, Mountains and Jungle do little to impede their advancement.

The Claw is typically populated by the Chapter Serfs and 10th Company to both train and protect the future of the Chapter. The rest of the Companies are typically crusading and dputting down Heretics, Rebels and the like wherever they may appear in their corner of the Galaxy. The Talons are forever vigilant and watchful in dealing with those that would disrupt the Emperor's Grand Vision.

Due to the Megustius Betrayal, the Inquisition has cast a baleful eye upon the Chapter that even dring these dark days post Rift still lingers on them. Such a level of Heresy within their ranks, had it been more widespread would be within their rights to declare a Penitent Crusade for absolution. As it is, the Chapter continues their duties but with a wary eye open while they sleep

You guys mind if I just save the thread? Maybe we can start again another time or just to keep it for posterity.
>>
>>62885247
I'm still here, and I was planning on archiving the thread when it died, because this is honestly just too much fun to be forgotten.

Yeah. I quite like the image of Caucasus/Georgian Marines overlooking the Jungles while riding their Lizrds.

Mykibius Fabridon
Current Master of Sanctity of the Red Talons

Having taken over from Atanaverus after is disappearance into the Warp after banishing Megustius, Fabridon has large shoes to fill even centuries after the fact. Previously the 2nd Company Chaplain Head, he was inducted into the role after a joint session by the Chaplain of the Chapter following Atanaverus' departure to retrieve or kill Megustius. Originally solely actigas a regent until Atanaverus returned, his disappearance shocked the Chapter and cemented Fabridon's position as MoS.

Since then, Fabridon has been a good Mo, preferring to mimic to the best of his ability Atanaverus' trademark character. He has largely been successful by all accounts, but personally he feels out of his depth even after so long.

With the Rift and everything that has happened, he and his Chapter have been tested beyond what any should be.

The Dracoths of Aminon are solitary egg clutch layers. The young are left to fend for themselves after hatching, meaning few live to adulthood from each clutch.

They are obviously carnivorous given their size and equipment. They mostly live and hunt in the jungles, though there are many examples of those that live in the other biomes, though they tend o be in smaller concentrations making them easier to fend off. They have a preference for vertical areas, cliffs and Jungle trees notably.

Their main sense is touch oddly enough by way of feathers which detect movement from air disturbances backed up by thermal vision and scent.

Anything else?
>>
>>62886737
Don't forget the fact that they have to be absolutely massive as well as ludicrously strong, seeing how they are used as mounts by fully armored Space Marines.
>>
>>62886806
I didn't forget that. We've gone over it a bunch.

The strength of the Dracoths, already feared and awed in ancient times, has been further augmented over the millennia by geneticists and cyberneticists to allow them to go far beyond their once 'normal' limits. Now fully capable of mounting a Marine in full panopoly and its own gear, the modern Dracoths are a far more fierce being than their ancestors. Their tails have been known to break the spine and ribcage of an unprepared marine, their speed not lightning quick and can gore a score of lesser men with ease in an instant.
>>
>>62887236
Their has been notable efforts over the centuries by geneticists to craft ever superior Dracoths. Many different breeds exist: Chargers, Draft, and even the rare Show Dracoths exist among the Nobility of Aminon. To see one not in the hands of the Talons off world is a rarity that speaks of back door deals and possible black market theft.

I'm going to bed again and I think this thread should just be saved. I just lost any real interest with me being busy and no one else really posting. Maybe we can try again this weekend?
>>
>>62887499
I'll archive it when it dies.
Sure, I'll start a new one this weekend, assuming we don't get any late night posters in here. I'll link this thread in it and use the same OP image. Keep an eye out.

>>62887635
Cool. It's just been busy these past couple days with work and all. See ya
>>
Bumps for the bump god, posts for the post throne.
>>
>>62887236
To add to this, I imagine the saddle/harness thing the marines sit in to ride it would need to be mechanically attached to the Darcoth, given that they're used to climb walls.
>>
I'm imagining a bunch of heretics laughing their asses off on top of a massive wall, when one of them glances down and sees a shitload of Space Marines sitting on the backs of giant lizards climbing the wall and one of said Marines pointing at him with a sword.
>>
>>62892450
That gives me an idea for a thing. If only I wasn't at work...
>>
>>62892450
Reminds me of the Clone Wars episode where the AT-TE climbed that cliff underfire
>>
>>62892450
"As for you question of the effectiveness of our mounts initiate, let me regale to you the siege of the Siege of Las. During the final weeks of our crusade to cleanse the world, the remaining heretics thought they would be safe hiding behind their walled off fortress in the mountain. They soon realized their folly when our mounted champions climbed over their pathetic walls. Our champions didn't even have to waste holy bolter ammo the filth due to the beasts butchering them. The fortress fell within a few mere minutes after the assault began."

>>
>>62897027
yep that one will work, plus fits chapters religious aspect though we might have to go back to the drawing board for colors
>>
>>62897121
I like the blue red and steel but I agree. How about silver/steel with red accents? Maybe the hands could be red to call back the talons?
>>
>>62897027
I say we keep all the writefaggotry, and just replace all instances of Red Talon with Silver Crusaders.
The sword mentioned here>>62849755
can be renamed something like "Crusaders Blessing" for it is said that any who were struck down by the now broken blade would witness the glory of the Emperor's wrath.

>>62897121
Colors are easy. Just go with silver and blue for the primaries, steel for accents, and red on the fingers to represent the practice of cutting oneself on the blade shards as illustrated here.
>>62858247
>>
>>62897187
>>62897236
Would this work, at least for the Chapter Master of the Silver Crusaders (Just pretend the Sword is red, there was no option to change its color

Use a deeper shade of blue. Otherwise, it's good.
