Cannibal Lolocaust Edition.

Welcome to Wake Up Naked In A Field With A Rock. Last thread, much fun was had. We were introduced to a post apocalyptic world, populated with people trying to carve out their meager survival amongst wild animals, ravenous cannibals, radiation, and corpse merchants. A strange power, some say, a curse, holds the people of the land hostage, where death is not the end, and people wake up, naked, in a field, with a rock, aware of the final moments of their past lives. Our players continue to fight for their survival and morality in a cut throat world, rife with insecurity, mistrust, and fear.

Welcome to the second installment.

-----

We are presently at player capacity. However, every now and then, I do accept a new player.

NEW PLAYERS!
>Use name as tripcode
>10 HP @ lvl1
>Choose an occupation for skill bonuses
>Customize your rock

-----

>Mechanics Primer

If your HP is reduced to 0, you fall unconscious. If you are alone, you are assumed dead, and wake up the following sunrise without your items, either in the field, or in your bedroll. However, there are ways to inflict more permanent damage upon players.

>Skill Checks
>Flat Check
Roll20 and beat a target number to succeed
>Opposing Checks
Two players roll against each other. The higher number determines the winner. Combat runs on opposing checks.

>Anything else?
If you leave the game session and you arent dead, your character falls unconscious. If you aren't present for a session, you are assumed to be sleeping. People can do things to you while you are asleep. Be careful...

Your labors complete, you begin down the road, once again, due east. You pass the old gas station and continue down the road, as it ascends higher into the mountains. As you're walking, you come across a turnout onto an old dirt road off of the main highway.

You start off down the dirt road. It winds up into the hills a good ways. Eventually it opens up at the entrance to an old quarry, sectioned off with a chain link fence. You see toppled heavy machinery in the distance, and a massive structure you can only assume to be a stone mill. Nobody stirs. In the side of the hill, you see the mouth of a cave, you can only assume to be a mine.

You train the laser sight on the bear and fire, but as you squeeze the trigger, he turns his head, and the round sinks harmlessly into a tree. The report of a revolver firing breaks the silence of the forest, and the bear stands up on it's hind legs to survey it's surroundings.

You apply the poultice to Paul's wounds. The bleeding slows and then stops, and he sighs with relief. Then you don't the new helmet and jacket you've found. You make your way up to the old mill. You turn the handle on the door, and it opens up into a factory floor. Old conveyer belts with chunks of stone have ceased to operate, leading up to large metal gears to crush them into gravel. There's a work bench, pilferred of all it's tools. At the far end of the factory is a door that opens up into crew quarters. Inside are old rotting bunk beds, and some footlockers. There are four bedrolls, relatively new, laid out on the floor.

You approach the mill and turn the corner, and you find yourself in the heart of a community. People are flocking everywhere, but almost all of them are existing with terrible injuries to their person.

"Welcome to the Mill. You're welcome to stay for awhile. Don't cause any trouble and you'll be okay. They call me Ash. Most folks will trade with you, and if you're hungry, were cooking breakfast for the town."

What's the one law? So we can't graft parts from butchers, cannibals, or other terrible even if they deserve it? Is that the one thing that can't be done to them?
What's "stitching," is that grafting? Can we graft parts from animals?

Naw, it's fine. Also, got clover, guys. I'm digging it. Anyways...

The man regards you for a moment.

"I'll try to explain this to you, as simply as I can. If you die, and something eats a part of you, or burns it to ash, you won't have it when you wake up. Some folks have discovered though that you can replace your dismembered limbs. Merely stitch one on to yourself, and wake up, again, and it's attached and functional. Some people only do this to treat their wounds. Others use it as a way to dominate others.

The fact is simple, though. All flesh comes from someone, whether willingly donated or not. And we here few it as the greatest unethical and immoral act - to stitch someone else's flesh to you, and parade it as your own. We shun the practice, even if it means walking around this Savage wasteland with visible handicaps. You meet a man with all his parts, and you can only assume to things.

He's either new here, or he's stolen flesh."

Dominating? How does that work?
>And we here few it as the greatest unethical and immoral act - to stitch someone else's flesh to you, and parade it as your own.
So even terrible folks who hunt innocents for that are afforded protection from that? Sorry if I don't see why we can't return them the favor, especially if it seems like it can be reversed. Maybe it's simply because I'm too new here to get it.
>We shun the practice, even if it means walking around this Savage wasteland with visible handicaps.
If those are your ethics, that's fine. I may not fully get it, but it sounds like a big deal. However, instead of parading around those injuries, why not simply get prosthetics like a peg leg for that missing leg of yours? Surely you have enough skilled people and resources to make that happen.
Regardless, thanks for helping me out so I wouldn't of say bumped with the wrong people and been convinced to commit a felony like what you mentioned. I'm glad people like you were the first I met.

You move in a little closer, as nonchalantly as possible, fiddling with your pack as a pretense to linger.

"Need anything? Missing anything?" The hooded man rasps from under his cloak.

"Several things, actually.. some of our hunters were ambushed by cannibals. You can only imagine.."

"Whatchu buying?" The cloaked man cats the other person off.

They move around to the back of the cart, and unceremoniously, a large black tarp is pulled back. An ungodly stench comes from the back of the carriage. You catch out the corner of your eye that the man was carting a load of gore. The man picks through the load, and his selections are wrapped in black cloth.

"And payment?" You hear the man rasp, with a measure of tempered excitement. Rose steps forward.

"A pleasure doing business with you." The man from canopy says, as he takes his large bundle under his arm. Rose climbs into the front of the cart beside the man in black robes, and he seizes the reigns.

"Dominating? Well, tell me, how able would you be to resist someone who means you I'll if you have no arms to fight or legs to run? When you stare down a butcher, 600 pounds of flesh, plated in Bone and cartilage, flailing extra arms holding cleavers, you tell me how it would be a means to domination of this land...

Like I said, we shun the practice. Those people you speak of, we commit to the purifying flame, and burn them til nothing is left. Justice is served, and no wrong is committed.

As far as prosthetics go, these have been considered, and some here do use them, but for others of us, we view at as a mark of pride that we have been so wounded but still manage to carry on without being whole. It really depends to whom you speak. Some are actually organizing a raid on a hospital not too far from here to see if we can find some more advanced prosthetics than wooden legs. Maybe you'd be inclined to help?

Youre most welcome. You seem like a reasonable person. You're welcome here, like I said, as long as you don't cause trouble, and as long as you don't practice stitching. Now, if that's all, I have things to attend to."

Ah, I get it. The moral high ground. Not stooping to their level no matter if they deserve it or not because of other ethical implications. Makes sense, especially with how many people share the same ideology. Might also be because it could be difficult to tell if you or someone else butchered innocents or felons.

>Some are actually organizing a raid on a hospital not too far from here to see if we can find some more advanced prosthetics than wooden legs. Maybe you'd be inclined to help?
I'd love to help, but I was a liberal arts student so most of my skills was in Learning subjects. Plus I just got here. I'm not a fighter like the others, so I’m not sure how I could help.

Say, what was your background before you ended up in I guess Purgatory? What were your last moments? Mine were I guess, dying in my sleep before college finals.
This is mostly philosophical, but I’m also curious to know the nature of what this place is and how people end up here, and if anyone might know more details about that. Personally I wonder if we’re in a simulation or if were kidnapped to some magical realm.

Not much of a fighter, eh? Well, you won't be going alone, that much is certain. And if you're as bright as you say you are, you may be able to make heads or tails of medical texts. Maybe you should go with and try to glean some medical knowledge.

Me? I was nothing special before this. My last memories were coming home from the office and going to sleep beside my wife. That was years ago. I can't tell you what this place is. I certainly didn't create it. Dont really know who did. Don't know how I got here. I don't know why everything I thought I knew is all wrong. A simulation? It's possible. Black magic? I wouldn't be surprised. A lot of folks have their superstitions about this place. Many, many, believe it to be cursed."
>>
>>1739090
>"Most folks don't have morals anymore.
"On that note, what's this town's stance on people who trade with grafters but don't do so themselves? Such as donating their own flesh for someone else? Like destitute areas who trade with or turn a blind eye to certain criminals?"
>And if you're as bright as you say you are, you may be able to make heads or tails of medical texts. Maybe you should go with and try to glean some medical knowledge.
"That sounds easy enough. It'd be like college, except my learning environment would in a hostile area, and my tests are in a much shorter timespan.
Where can I find these people? Anything I need to bring or should know?
Where can I find you later?”
>Many, many, believe it to be cursed."
"I wouldn't be surprised. It could also be a chance for a new start but everyone keeps mucking it up, but it'd be difficult to tell when and how everything started going so badly."
>>
>>1739104
"It's not a novel idea. The butchers only trade flesh, and only accept flesh as payment. You want a foot, you give a hand, so to speak. If you need several legs, people have been known to voluntarily go with the butchers to help their kin. I suppose that most would view it as charitable. Self sacrifice, in every literal sense of the word. Anyone here, though, would be flattered if you would trade your well being for theirs, to be sure, but none would accept it, on pain of exile or the pyre. Stitching is an abomination. It's not natural, and we refuse its practice.

You can find Cyclops by the fire pit over yonder." He gestures to a massive man, easily 7 feet tall, 300 pounds, with one eye. "He is organizing the raid. You'll have a partner with you while you are there. They're pairing off to search the building. He can tell you more. Keep your weapon handy and your wits about you. We haven't been inside the hospital yet, we just know it exists, in the heart of an old City not far from here. I'll be back here at the mill in the warehouse over there." He points out a structure to you. "I work there, taking inventory and repairing gear for the town.

Maybe one day people can get it right, Patrick. Some folks manage to lead their lives comparably peacefully to others. I hope such a peace might find its way here."

>>
>>1739135
Cyclops smiles, and you can see he's missing some teeth.

"Anyone brave enough to go is needed, newcomer. There's strength in numbers. Let me get you up to speed...

About five miles due Northeast of here is a small town, and within the city limits, near the downtown hospital, one of our scouts, Rat, here, discovered a hospital." He motions to a rather diminutive man, still in possession of all his limbs, but missing a couple fingers.

"The building, from what we can discern from the outside, is three stories tall and covers several city blocks. Our main mission is to raid it for prosthetics for people in the camp. Second, for miscellaneous medical supplies. I understand that you were tasked as well with acquiring as much medical text as possible... So we're going to add that to our list of objectives.

We do not know if the building is occupied, or if it is, the nature of the occupants, so we are going in armed, and we're pairing up. You'll be going in with me. Primary places to check are the ER, the pharmacy, any receiving socks for shipments, surgery wards, and if there's a basement floor, it is likely it has a warehouse subsection. You and I are assigned to the ER.

This is not meant to be a conquest or show of force. Use physical violence only it necessary, and try to exercise discretion and stealth. Were there to get supplies, that's it. We're not there to purge its occupants, unless its absolutely necessary - you know, if theyre cannibals or meet us with armed force."

Someone caught a pig in a trap yesterday, so we're having pork. You might also want to check the warehouse before we leave. You might be able to acquire some more suitable gear. Ash should be working. He knows your intentions.

Ideally, we will be in and out. There are a few more targets, however, that are of interest. Chiefly, the police station, and an old hardware store. The first, obviously, for Weapons and armor, and the second that we might be able to build up the mill and begin farming here. At this time, however, are tertiary objectives at this time. If we finish up at the hospital and all is fine, we can make time to at least examine these places.

Ideally, we return before sundown. Worst case scenario, we overnight in the town. We're set to rendezvous at an old gas station on the outskirts before we return to the mill. Anyone not at the rendezvous point by sunrise the following morning is on their own."

The haggard man hops in the passenger seat. You fire up the engine, and make your way downtown. The place is a dump. Some buildings have burned down in a fire. Others are rotting away. Ruined cars litter the streets, and trash floats in the wind.

"Right there, ya see it?"

In front of you, you see the old police station, a two story structure, as far as you can tell. Old cop cars sit in the lot. Some are overturned. The barricade to the parking garage is busted, and you pull in. The front door is in front of you, about 50 paces away.

"That paper money, some folks will honor it. It's accepted as a medium around here. Not as valuable as bullets or food, but we use it.

>>
>>1739256
Doing fine from what I can tell. I like that you ask a lot of questions. Definitely challenges me to expound more on the world and factional philosophy.

I guess the suggestions are as always. Try to build your characters personality and, you know, try to fit his actions into his past. As a person coming from such a humanist themed major I wouldn't be surprised if he adopts the outcast philosophy as sort of his own moral code. Of course, probably being squishy in a hostile world might compel him as well to embrace grafting. I dunno man, play it how it feels right, ya know? Keep developing your depth and dimension.and use it as motivation for your character action.
>>
>>1739267
Got it, thanks.
There's some other actions and descriptions that I realized I forgot to include earlier, regrettably.

I find it rather amusing that while everyone else is fighting for their lives, having shocking revelations, or getting out of dodge, I've mostly been in some comfy conversations and getting my bearings straight.

Don't worry. You'll deal with things like that in due time. Most players get to gather their bearings when they begin. First session everybody started near a town, got fed, and got a basic care package.
>>
>>1739288
Oh, nice.
What do you think of the quest so far and the players you got?
>>
>>1739308
Well, the quest is rather open ended at this point... I'm assuming the end is when it's figured out how to either escape this place, or to break the wake up cycle, or, if you're being antagonistic, perpetuate it infinitely. Assuming those things exist. I haven't really settled yet on how the other two are achieved outside of permanent character death, so, that is something that will be developed in time. And I'm guessing these may become someone's goals eventually. For now though, folks are just kinda roaming around getting familiar, and that's fine.

I haven't sunk enough time into the why of it all. It really is more of a byproduct of the how, know what I mean? Either way, I need to figure out a why... Why people wake up here, why they can't die, why you can stitch limbs to your person and have them function... These are questions that need answers, ans preferably not with a shitty copout trope.

As far as players, I've loved every one of them. Anne's been here since the first session, and I adore that she's such a softie in an otherwise unforgiving place. It adds good contrast.

I wish Barry would come back for a session. Last I checked he wasn playing the wounded Messiah down in Malla Malla freeing people from a cannibal flesh farm. Wish Cory would show up too. Dont know how long Anne is gonna take care of her narcolepsy plagued friend indefinitely. Could be a good source of tension though.

William was fun. He was a wild element, highly self serving and unpredictable. He was sposed to cook speed for some cannibals, and then went away. I hope he comes back one of these days. His self serving nature definitely created conflict and interesting character Dynamics.

Jippy - fucking love Jippy. His insanity makes him wild and unpredictable. Docile as a lamb one minute, shell shocked veteran killer the next. Definitely good for some keks. I love that he's a hobo, coz, ya know, when I'm not housed up working for people... I actually am a hobo lol.

And youve got a decent knack for RP, which is cool. A good character builds the story and the world as they progress through it. Honestly, I'm pretty damn satisfied with everything.

"If I haven't already, I should warn that I don't have any combat or survival experience like the rest of you folks. So I might not respond well in high-stress situations and might make some silly mistakes. As my other experiences and knowledge taught me, I've been trying to keep tabs on everything to alleviate that.

That aside, if the rest of the party hasn't already, could we introduce ourselves to each other so we can easily recognize each other out in the field? By voice and visuals.”
Offer to introduce myself to everyone.
“Do we have any allies or enemies? How do we know when we've encountered them?

I’ve been mulling over the communication problem earlier. I was wondering if could use duck calls, whistles, or some sort of stomping or knocking code? Maybe megaphones or improvised versions? Ash gave me this flare gun to use, but I’m not sure how much that’d help.
Maybe we should use some sort of code if we aren’t sure of the person to make sure if they’re one of us? Especially if we’re say, shouting.”
I’m also suggesting some sort of friend-or-foe identification system.

"The basement, eh? And you've got a map. It looks like there's a stairwell access just beyond those locked double doors. Usually there's an emergency generator down there, too. We may be able to restore power to the place, otherwise, to go down there and search around, were going to need some torches, or use some of your flares, or find a flashlight...

Well, how do you wanna do this? We need to get that chain off those doors."

>What do?

You test the keypad on the lock. You enter some digits. A light blinks red and the door does not unlock. It seems that there's power in the building.

Patches comes up behind ya.

You get back to the cave, and cook food and eat.

A bit of a shame that this note is difficult to read, if only there were a way to make the markings more visible and a tool to make it easier to read... Hm. Say, do you have any graphite, chalk, or other easily distinguishable material for marking against paper? Like from a pencil or something? Especially against pressure markings?
I’m thinking we try finding one that can help distinguish against the pressure markings of the writing tool, then mark against the reverse side of the paper so we can see the pressure writings more easily.”

You set about tearing the place apart, turning out desks and filing cabinets, reading memos and notepads. Most of them are notes on old investigations, case files and the like. Patches has gone to check the far offices away from the cubicles. Recopy the note in the meantime, starting with applying pressure on the front side on the more legible parts, then lightly marking the reverse to make the pressure from the markings more visible. Hopefully it'll help reveal the missing text.

You guys head downstairs and into the jail. You walk and the first room contains a holding cell, a skeleton it's sole occupant. There's a desk where the bailiff used to sit, abandoned. A hallway runs down the corridor, and in the final cell, you find a pile of corpses, all of them gnawed on, and a man, delirious and covered in bite marks on top of his dirty Bedroll.

"Let me out of here!" He shrieks as he notices your presence.

Yeah, nobody's decided to take them yet, though. When you level up, however, I try to base new skill bonuses upon whatever you used a lot that player level. I was attempted to let you use your learning bonus for it, because deciphering something is technically trying to learn new info.

Anyway...

You take the note and contrast it with the flashlight. Using the binoculars as a magnifying glass, you come up with the following..

"The loading docks are so busy these days. I guess the CDC issued some kind of local health advisory in the last week. We've been getting shipments of just about everything. We're way over stocked. Is something bad about to go down? I don't know. They have me working double shifts these days, mainly with inventory.

The docks are overflowing. I can't move inventory fast enough. I had to move the extra surgical supplies to the basement. There wasn't enough room in the supply closet to contain everything from last shipment. I sent Carl to start moving everything. He's got a place cleared out downstairs, and I gave him my access for the freight elevator.

I can't lie, June. I'm scared shitless. Just what are we preparing for? Nobody has said a word, and the brass is tight lipped. I don't like the extra security presence either."

Yeah. I was wondering if Learning would follow within the same category that deciphering was in if cruder, but maybe a more specific usage for Learning or other skills makes it more effective when it's used in that area?
Would the skill be called something like Analysis?

"If there's some kind or plague in there, we could already have it. We can't risk going back to camp until we know everyone's in good health. That prolongs our mission... We have to stay at the gas station.

Alternatively... That place could be full of corpses. That alone is enough to put it on any stitchers map, and with this much proximity to the camp, it would be bad news for us. It could be a fucking weapons cache in the wrong hands.

I don't know what to make of this. it's too late to withdraw from this operation now. Everyone else is already inside. No telling what they may have come into contact with.

"Next, I could try deciphering this further, if there's any left, but I'd need a stronger light source, better optics, or other equipment. Getting the power back up would be perfect for those high-powered lamps that let you see details in much higher resolution. There might be some microscopes around in a lab that they'd use for tests and stuff. The labs would likely hold more information, as that would be ground zero for any research and news that would filter back out to this reception area."

You make your way through town to the outskirts and see the gas station. Several cars sit, derelict in the parking lot, long abandoned. There's a convenience store, and an automotive repair shop attached to the structure. From the outside, the structure seems vacant.

You do a cursory examination from the parking lot. The garage has large steel shutters that would easily block line of sight, and vision. You walk inside to examine it further. You settle in to wait, when you hear a can rattling and crunching broken glass coming from inside the attached convenience store.

You pull out your binoculars. You can see through the windows of the shop a couple of looters picking over the remains. Theyre armed, but only with simple melee weapons. They say something to each other, and then they start to lay out their bedrolls inside the gas station. They haven't noticed you yet.

>What do?

Try to discern any details of what type of looters they might be. Friendly, cannibal, grafters? Be ready to duck back into cover.

They're definitely your regular human. 2 arms, 2 legs, one head. They're wearing simple leather clothing, and their weapons are primitive, made of sticks and stones. One of them smiles as the other produces an aluminum can from the trash heap and throws it to the first. They pop it open, sit down, and start to eat.

When they finish their meal, they have a brief conversation with each other, grab their Spears, and exit the convenience store. They're moving towards the auto shop. They still haven't seen you yet.

>Opposing check 15, 9

You search for a place to hide and listen in, as quickly as you can, but the only appealing place is the cab of the car in the hydraulic lift. You ascend it quickly, and dive in, just before they round the corner.

"...and then that bear got him. Haven't seen Frankie since."

"Wonder where he could be by now."

"Beats me. He didn't lay down his bed before that last hunt. He's woken up a few times. He oughta know better"

"I'll say... So, what are we looking for, mate?"

"I don't know. Figure maybe we could use some tools. If we can get that motorcycle we saw running, it'd be a major help. I'm gonna look around, and see if I can find some gas cans. You pick around for some tools. Keep your eyes, peeled, too. You never know who's out there. Remember those zombie looking fuckers who attacked us on the road?"

"Yeah... I'll keep my eyes peeled. Hurry up, will ya? This town gives me the creeps."

You hear one of them leave. The other rustles about the shop searching it.

So close.

The auto shop, is there a separate exit outside or do you have to go through the convenience store first? What exits are there to this room?

Hm. Maybe I can try getting a look with these binoculars to see if they might be cannibals? Shaking and the like?
Once they give enough space for me to have a clean escape route, I think I might try meeting with them.

There are 2 exits to the auto shop - through the metal shutters, and a backdoor. You can see the man clearly, rattling through drawers, looking for tools. He's visibly shaking. He accidentally drops a set of socket wrenches on the floor, and curses under his breath as he starts to pack them back in.

Time passes, and eventually the other comes back.

"No luck on the gas cans. Did ya find some tools?"

"Yeah, we're in luck"

"Well, let's get back to the motorcycle. We'll leave our beds in the convenience store and if anything happens while we're getting our repairs done, we can meet up here."

"Sounds good. Let's hit the road, then."

They leave, and you sit alone in the cab of the car in the auto shop.

>What do

>He's visibly shaking.
From my studies, that's a sign of cannibalism. Alternatively he's sick or has hypothermia, but he'd be shivering and trying to warm himself instead. That can't be good.
I guess working towards liberal arts ended up being pretty useful for tidbits like this. A bit of a shame I didn't bother learning more medical trivia for a hugely unlikely scenario like this.

I'm not going to bother pursuing the possible cannibals, but I'll go back outside the car, scan outside for anything else, then check on those bedrolls. Did they leave anything else behind?

You exit the vehicle and the auto garage. In the distance you see them walking down the road due west. Coming from the town however, you see a familiar massive hulk leading his band of familiar ragtag friends. They approach you.

You explain the situation to him, and go into the convenience store. There are 2 bedrolls, a medical kit, and a bow with a quiver of arrows.

"FOUL KNAVE!" Patches shouts, as he wields his shotgun like a sword. He accidentally discharges a round in to the ceiling, and then he calms down looking sheepishly...

The car passes both of you, as you decide you're going to search out the old man. It takes you awhile, but you find his house in the woods.

>11am

As you approach, you see him, pacing impatiently around his shack. When you approach, he speaks to you.

"Glad you've made it back, friend. All is well, I trust? Where's the other one? No matter, no matter, come around back here. I have something to show you."

He takes you round back to where he's set up an eleborate altar with four Cairns set up in the major compass directions.

"I already taught your friend a basic cantrip. She can conjure fire... But I miss start from the beginning with you. Come, clear your mind, and meditate with me."

Discuss with Cyclops on our plans, and what everyone else managed to accomplish. Check to see how the party is doing.

Ask what he thinks about the possible cannibals, and what we should do with these bedrolls. Warn that my information was from a cursory search so it could be incomplete or misled.

"Which is a bit of a shame that I don't have much medical knowledge or a way to confirm it...- Oh, right. I forgot about that medical encyclopedia you gave me. Come to think about it, it might have some notes on whatever possible diseases was possibly referenced in that supply catalog note."
Offer to check the medical encyclopedia to confirm symptoms on cannibalism, and then glean through for any notes on recent events regarding any possibly new illnesses. It should be easy to find in the index, catalog, and blank pages that books normally come with.

You ascend up a medium sized tree and look out about your surroundings. You can see Philopolis in the distance to the west. To the east you see the road ascend into the hills, and lose sight of it. To the South, you can see some old power lines, and to the north yawns a large valley, with a gas station. The woods stretch all around, interrupted by fields of waist high grass. They end at the edge of the mountains, and ascend up steep, rocky slopes, pockmarked with caves and cut by canyons.

Symptoms include sweating, rapid heart beat, shaking, constricted pupils and arteries, dry mouth, vomiting, and heightened states of paranoia and aggression.

"We're taking it all. The medkit is going back to town as part of the mission. The freezer is part quarantine, part prison. If they do come back while we're here, we need to prevent them from leaving if we are sick with something. And if they're cannibals, well... They're already criminals."

"Okay. So you may have gotten a disease from the locked parts of the hospital. No worries, we're nearby it so we should be able to figure it out soon.
To start, could you tell me what you did in the locked parts of the hospital and when you went there?"
Question the possible infected on their searches and circumstances.

"If we have any biohazard or medical gear, we should start using it. Give these two possible infected medical facemasks, gloves, and other gear to prevent spreading communicable diseases. Make sure any injures of theirs are covered up. Have them take a rest so they don't exert themselves."
Make sure the possible infected are given medical gear that'd prevent transmitting infections.

Then ask to talk to Cyclops in private away from the rest, then speak in hushed tones.
"Oh right. I just remembered, those possible cannibal-looters mentioned some 'zombie-looking fuckers' earlier who attacked them on the road. This might be related to that, and they could either be cannibals, stimulant druggies, or infected with a virus."

"What do you think? Here's my thoughts..."
Tell him if there's any spare medical gear I'll take it to check up on those two possible infectees. Ideally any biohazard gear. Have the others on guard.

That damn chopper might be enemy, so I gotta stay out of it's sight lines! Damn it, if they don't come back over the radio, I'll just have to do it and take the damn court martial!

You examine him thoroughly. His heart rate is elevated, though it could just be fear. His eyes seem to be responding to light stimuli. His mouth is dry and his saliva is thick. You take his temperature, and he has a slight fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

"Well doc?"

>>1744003
You fire, and splatter the animal's brains out into the river. It never even had a chance

>Acquired pork
>Acquired pig pelt

>What do?

The radio crackles to life.

"Sergeant Jippy, were being overrun. Permission to execute, granted. Proceed with extreme prejudice."

You barrel through the streets in your Jeep and see the Eastern choke point in the distance.

>>1744002
You hear the sound of an engine approaching in the distance. It's growing louder. You see an El Camino pull into the gas station parking lot.

>>1744005
You screech to a halt in front of the check point. It's quiet...

That should be... What? A day's worth of meat, maybe two if rationed correctly?
>Check on CarlJack
I don't expect to be gone more than a day or two so this should be enough CarlJack

>"Well doc?"
"Definitely symptoms of a fever, although in the early stages. He has those symptoms we discussed about earlier, but I'm not sure what's it's related to. Once this lad over here calms now and doesn't try attacking us or anything, we'll untie him and have him rest somewhere nice, cool, and away from the rest while we're out on our mission."
Wait for the tied up infectee to calm down, then direct him to rest somewhere as stated. Give the nervous infectee the same instructions.
>"Well doc?"
"Also I just started medical training, so I'm not sure if you should call me a doctor."

>You see an El Camino pull into the gas station parking lot.
"There's an El Camino that pulled up here. If none of you folks recognize it, we should start hiding."
Get everyone to start hiding somewhere safe if nobody recognizes, bring the tied up guy along too if he hasn't calmed down by then.

I wasn't ready for this.

Carljack almost has the furnace finished when you return. He's emptying out his backpack to go and gather some iron.

"Thanks, Anne. I'm gonna go get more stone. I'll be holding the fort for you guys. Be safe out there."

Everyone scrambles to hide. The first infectee is put in the back, the second with him. Two go to watch them. You take up defensive positions inside the gas station.

You engage your hug servos, and then part ways. You set off to the road. You remember the crossroads is in the heart of Philopolis.

You dive behind the convenience store counter, hiding you from view. This town must have been rough, because it's surrounded with bullet proof glass.

You wait, your heart racing, like it wants to burst through your chest.

Ready for danger. Go through a list of plans in my head, psych myself up for a fight.
Think about who this El Camino driver could be, what could happen?
Hopefully it's not needed, but you'll never know.

I slam on the brakes, my purpose clear. The Eastern check point is ahead and I've got to save them... I clear my thoughts and focus inward. The raging forces, primal and ethereal. "The Earth is my mother, the Sky is my father. They are about me and within me. I am their child and their power flows through me to correct the world... I am the Jedi Primarch. I am Corporal Douglas Hewlet, J. P. Rank of the United States Armed Services, Jedi Regiment. Mother, Father, guide me..." With these words, I focus my energies within and without. They know where I must go, what must be done. They guide me towards my destiny... I get out of the Jeep and approach the check point with caution and care, utter faith in my powers.

I'll be around. Check back about 8 or 9 west coast time.

If you're still going to be hungover by the time the evening session begins, you could always cancel the session for your own health.
