Glory to Alainn!

You are Cathal Rathais, one of the chosen elite, the 13th Legion, scouting a world 4231 years after your country won the Grand War and placed itself in cryostasis to allow the planet to recover.

You have assumed the false name "Ace Locke" for your hunter identity. So far, only two people have seen through it, one of which can read minds.

A Faerie from an alternate world has altered your body, making you appear much younger.

so far you have:
>Updated your bunker database
>registered to the Hunter's guild (and flirted with the receptionist)
>Recruited Pisteia, the Mercenary Princess (Knight)
>Completed Nissa Estalise's quest
>Eliminated a raider stronghold
>Taken control of Outpost Charlie and looted it.
>Repaired a Raider buggy
>Repaired the lift to the outpost garage
>Secured an Otharthurian Outrider
>Secured a Patrol tank
>Met with the Archivum
>Got a lot of money
>Went to Lethbridge
>Discovered and recruited fellow 13th legion soldier Almeda Irnan (Adriana Hammer)
>Acquired quest from Captain Hendrick to obtain his ship.
>Entered the Ruined Ollamic City of Kantrel
>Secured an Ollamic luxury floatcar
>Looted the underground city of Kantrel
>Secured Terminal 48 and renamed her Artoria.
>Obtained a large cargo ship
>Repaired the tank, moved vehicles to ship.
>Recruited a mercenary dragon hunter temporarily
>You slew a blood dragon
>you obtained a plot of land and are building a rather large palace and homes atop it.
>You traveled to Inisvale in Inis Duchy
>You recruited Clark Howard Thule, conduit of forgotten gods.
>You observed the current base of FEATHER forces
>You recruited Uriel 'Rumor,' the bard of phantasms.
>gained party member ???? the ????????????
>Did battle with a faerie
>Recruited Dr. Alleria Trost, Shapeshifting Scientist and FEATHER director.
>Recruited Lily Tekel Trost, Eldritch shapeshifter.
>Brokered an alliance between FEATHER and Alainn
>Killed Duchess Inis
>destroyed Garvelton's operations in a major battle
>Gave Inis duchy to FEATHER.
>Turned in items for reward from the Archivum.
>Traveled to Dise duchy.
>took part in harvest festival of Vor'Ma preparations.
>Spent harvest festival with Almeda
>Went to Titan's Arm mountains.
>Obtained an airship
>Went to Sky Fortress Lothos
>Entered mysterious structures
>Activated modified golem

The following is information you have collected:
>The Archivum is a worldwide network of academic nature that is studying the ruins of the past. They pay well for artifacts.
>Nissa went to Lethbridge to return to Korlanis
>the 14th legion turned on Alainn and are now the raiders under the orders of a general
>There is a city called 'Korlanis' Where Nissa came from.
>Kantrel fell apart underground due elitism and pale horrors lurking in the underground sea
>Ollam used humans as nodes of their data network
>A very prolific Archivum archaeologist might have an idea about who you are.
>Clark was present during the disaster of Otharthur that led to the ban of magic.
>An Anomaly in Inis forest is producing strange things.
>Pisteia is a princess
>Clark can read people's minds
>Uriel is Garvelton's son
>The garrison of Graggen is part of the military of the country the duchies are part of
>Faerie exist in another world and can pass through anomalies.
>FEATHER has come from somewhere not of this world and bear weapons comparable to Alainn.
>Alleria is a fae, and her daughter is a shapeshifting creature.
>Alleria, Lily and Clark are stabilizing Inis and repurposing it for FEATHER.
>You need to remove the turrets in your fort.
>The madman appears shortly after the Flying Specter does.
>Garvelton got away during your battle.
>Harvest Festival is in celebration of Vor'Ma, a god of an Alainn religion.
>Almeda went to the Grand General (your glorious leader) directly just to be deployed in the same area and time as you.
>The Madman does exist, and he left behind crops.
>Dragon Rangers are interfering with Archivum activities in Titan's Arm
>Raiders have a main base in Titan's Arm.
>Something is destroying golems in Lothos.
>The strange laboratory is filled with fae dust from killing fae. A pale horror was destroyed almost instantly.
> the strange laboratory bears patterns and tech that is impossible.
>The Flying Specter is in Lothos.
>Someone who is afraid of FEATHER is tracking you, and has infiltrated the Hunter's Guild.

Current tasks:
>find the madman and have your body restored

Your current score:
Land Claimed: Koro Duchy Manor.
Vehicles obtained: 4 (+1 extra)
Airships: (Unnamed) - Archivum cargo airship
Permanent party members obtained: 7 (3 unavailable)
Allied factions: FEATHER
Harvest Festival Partner: Almeda Irnan
>Memento: Vor'Ma's Tankards. - an item you and Almeda have one each of from the same set. It is an omen of a strong bond between the owners if both tankards are from the same set.

The golem lurches towards you, you hear klaxons blaring. Footsteps can be heard for just a moment before the golem swings with the creaking of tortured metal.

>19
You open fire, unloading on the golem and destroying one of the hearts. Pisteia charges into the swing with her blade.

>17
You hear a voice crackle from unseen speakers. "Vee! Floor 9, Air tower! Golem's up!" It sounds like you'll have company soon.

>15
Almeda pounds the golem with gunfire. A turret emerges from one shoulder. It releases it's own spray of bullets, but you manage to skirt out of the gunfire.

>17
Your counterattack is unleashed on the golem. Another golem heart stone shatters. the golem's eyes flicker. Pisteia strikes again, disabling the turret. The elevator dings.

>15
The door is blown open as a shot flies through it. None of your party is in the path, but the golem gets hit head on. It lurches once and breaks into fragments.

Heavy footsteps sound in the hallway, getting closer.

"Intruders. This location is property of the Independant Research Union. You are tresspassing." The voice is that of a young girl's. The lights are dark, but you can see the glow of eyes staring at you down the hall on approach.

"Very high power output detected. Approaching entity's weapon outclasses the patrol tank." Artoria states, moving away from the door.

What do you do?

"Hey, if anyone is there, how were we supposed to know we were trespassing?!" You call out, hoping the voice on the speaker hears, "There wasn't any sign. Why don't we talk?"

The speaker crackles, "I thought the turrets said 'keep out' enough on their own."

"Plenty of ruins have those, it just means better treasure inside." Uriel responds.

"...Fair point. But the fact is you still wrecked one of my experiments." The footsteps stop.

"Professor, what do we do with the intruders?"

"Still deciding, Vee."

"We have some questions, and you might have interest in what we have to say..." You add.

"Hold on, I'll need a moment to think about it..." The professor's voice clicks off.

The eyes stare out from the dark hallway, glowing orange, "I swear if he's just playing videogames, I'll have to decide myself..." The child's voice mutters.

You look back at your group, "Is the professor the one we call 'the madman?'"

"What exactly do you know?"

"Me? I know that if you buy bread here it gets stale fast. I know that there's a lot of ruins down there, and I know there's satellites in orbit. But overall, I don't know much about this place." Vee responds.

"So... what is your decision?"

"Well, the original one was to just throw you all off the sky fortress if the professor messed around, but now I think it's best if I don't." Vee cheerily explains.

"Oh, good." Uriel sighs.

"But if the professor decides on that, I'll do it anyways." she adds.

"That's quite a bold statement, you think you could do that?" Pisteia asks. You note the glowing eyes are quite low.

"I don't so much as think it. I know it." Comes the response.

"Right, finished with the... task." The speaker crackles, "Vee, keep them there in that room, I'll be there shortly."

"...It would have been easier just to lock the doors beforehand then let me deal with the situation then, Professor..." Vee moves into the doorway to block the exit. Now you finally see her. She has the appearance of a child, but she wears strange armor, a ceramic, you might think. An antennae sticks out of her back. She has a particularly large weapon, the sort you'd have on an emplacement. Her eyes are atypical colors, orange, for instance, but the pupil looks to be blue. but for the most part she could pass as human. Her head reaches your chest. She looks like a child as much as she sounds like one.

"I'd advise for no attempts to leave this room then." Vee announces.

"You wouldn't be a cyborg by any chance, would you?"

The girl tilts her head, then looks at Artoria, "Like her? No. In fact, I feel a bit bad for her. She was human once, after all. I was never organic."

So she is a machine...

You decide to wait a bit for the professor. Finally, you hear footsteps.

On the viewing level, a man in a white labcoat appears. surprisingly youthful, but he seems to have similarities to the android.

"Alright, introductions. I am Professor Jeremy Trost, aka 'the madman,' and the nicest mad scientist you could ever meet." He shrugs, "Welcome to my flying city of science, Currently under construction. Why are you visiting before I've deactivated the defenses?"

You've heard the last name of Trost before...

"Well I hope you killed it. How many of you? The knight woman?" Jeremy looks over your party, "Not the cyborg, right?"

"No, it's just me and..." You look to Almeda.

"Okay, so the shota and the elf. Looks like it was trying to make more faeries. Fantastic." Jeremy sighs, "Right, so... I'm going to need You all to go to floor 2 so I can fix this, unless you want to risk me going in blind and finishing the job for the fae."

"Your sky fortress is also causing problems for the locals too..."

"It only started doing that when Vee jostled the main core." Jeremy replies.

"That was all you, professor. I had nothing to do with that. You're the one who attached the cables!" Vee protests.

"Look at this, my own daughter betrays me."

Upon arrival to floor 2, Vee ushers your group into the medical bay. Somehow Professor Jeremy is waiting for you. He has a machine present, as well as a remote control.

He looks back at you, "Will you please sit on the bench?"

"Waitaminute. How did you get here before us? And what is that device?"

"The 'device' is a sampler. it determines how much fae contamination is in your body. As for how I got down here first... Trade secret." Jeremy smugly crosses his arms.

"It'll be nice to be back to normal. Nobody takes a hunter serious when they look like this. It also feels weird." You state.

Professor Trost raises an eyebrow, looking back, "You think it's weird now, it can get far worse." He's removed a gun-like object from the wall.

"I'm guessing that if we had gotten hit with that fae magic a bit more, it'd be nigh-irreversible?"

"Not irreversible. No, it's just your brain would have been rewritten, so turning you back would just leave a fae's brain patterns in your body." He adjusts some settings on the device.

"Any tips on how to best avoid this...situation...again if we run into a fae again? Besides run."

"Yeah, don't run from them. Best option is to shoot them or trick them. You aren't going to outrun them, and they will probably transform you into something that runs." Professor trost makes the final adjustments and aims at you and Almeda. The front of the gun splits open and begins to rotate around the barrel.

You grip the bench and grit your teeth, Almeda does the same. You are the elite of Alainn, pain doesn't scare you. You've felt worse in your training.

Soon the feelings cease as the device spins down. Jeremy whistles, impressed.

"Most would be on the floor from that, but you didn't even break a sweat."

"How did it... remove everything fae?"

"Well, it contamninated body and mind, so you need to forcibly rip the fae contamination right from both, because if any is left behind, it'll increase over time. I was lucky to catch it soon enough, otherwise you'd have a more drastic experience."

"...I want one" You say it at the same time you think of it. Almeda makes a sound of agreement.

"Do you now?" Jeremy turns with a smile, "That device needs a fae dust core to operate properly. Fire with fire and all that, as well as a variety of specialized composite materials that can restrain the energies within. On top of that it takes a powerful computer to properly target the fae contamination to remove it. It is a VERY valuable device... You might argue that I have plenty of fae dust, and I do, but the other materials are on the rare side." Jeremy clasps his hands, "Do you have something to trade for such a device?"

"He's using his companies to take over regions and cover them in dark magic, corrupting the region. He subverts the people within. He also summons a large number of shapeshifters and otherworldly creatures to maintain the region, using several dark magic anchors."

"Oh, I see... Troubling. And how are these anchors dealt with?"

"They are destroyed with either powerful enough dark magic or a blessed weapon."

"Alright, so I just need to find the wavelength of those energies. This is good stuff, what do you want to know?"

"Why are you gathering information on factions and building your own flying city?"

"Ah, right to the point. I like that. I am building a flying city because I wish to live a peaceful life where I can't be disturbed in my research. As for the factions, well, I'm trying to find out who I can make friends with so far." He whips out a small pad of paper, "So far the Archivum is the best bet, but if I were to join them, they'd want access to my technology. I don't know about you, but I feel it's a bit too soon to give them atomic disruptors and zero point energy reactors."

Atomic... disruptors? He's talking about weapons that developers in Alainn have only just theorized. Was that the gun FEATHER had?

"So I take it you read my data terminal downstairs? That's what I get for not setting up a password..."

"That you know of, is there any chance to bring out what's left of Artoria's human self? I know she's in there since she was desperately trying to get our help in the ruined underground city."
