My sister and her husband were murdered. I don't know who did it, or why.

My sister's daughter, Annette, was kidnapped on the same night. The perpetrators called me and demanded a ransom for her return. I agreed to pay it.

I would meet them in an old warehouse at the end of the week, they said. That was the plan.

But life's never that simple.

I wake up in a room I don't know. It's not mine.

A breeze comes through the window at the end of the room.

What is this place? How did I get here?

Before I can come to my senses, a woman in scrubs comes through the side door.

"Mister.... ah, Colby?" She calls out. "Are you awake?"

I go to answer her, but for some reason I can't speak. I try, but no words come out. Not a sound.

"Oh." She sighs. "I was hoping I was wrong."

She comes over to the side of my bed, then reaches over and slightly turns my head to look over at her.

"You've been in a car accident; One that's caused a great deal of paralysis in your body, and had you in a coma for several days. It's currently Sunday."

That's the day I'm supposed to do the ransom hand-off!

"Currently, you are experiencing a condition very similar to locked-in syndrome. All parts of your body - ah, except for your eyes - are practically immobile. Now, I recognize that this must be quite a shock, but the good news is that I have a long-term recovery plan that may help you regain motor function over the next few months..."

Damn it! I've got to tell her about the ransom, the warehouse - but I can't move! I can't speak, I can only move my eyes.

How can I get my urgency across to her? I've got to try!
>>
Can you blink?

Three short blinks, followed by three long blinks, and then three short again. Repeat as needed. With any luck, the doctor will understand SOS in Morse code.

If blinking is impossible, use eye movements instead.

>Can you blink?

Yes.

>Three short blinks, followed by three long blinks, and then three short again. Repeat as needed. With any luck, the doctor will understand SOS in Morse code.

I do so, blinking in sequence.

"...and there were also some odd changes to your brain chemistry that we're still figuring out. We'll need to do some more tests, and - um, what is it?" She looks at me, puzzled. "If you're willing to wait through the day, we'll have eye-movement recognition software, and we can talk more or less normally after some training. I know this isn't ideal, but it's the best we can do."

I can't wait that long!

>stare into her soul with the eye of the Demon to get across that you are a cool dude who has cool dude problems that need to be solved now.

I stare her in the eyes, putting all the force and emotion into the look that I can.

"I'm sorry, I just can't understand y-" She cuts off, shivering suddenly. She looks me in the eyes, as if we're having a staring contest. "I... I mean, I'll go get... someone to talk to you."

But she doesn't move. She just gazes into my eyes, like a deer frozen in the headlights of a car.

"I... what is...?" She mumbles to herself, looking distressed. "I don't..."

Her eyes starts to ripple like water, and her pupils swirl like ink-blots. Something's clearly happening to her, but I have no idea what. Am I hallucinating?

If she is in your body, find something to write with and write out everything about your situation, then explain to her that it's super important. Then try switching back!

If she's supressed inside your current body, uh, I dunno.

Speak aloud.

"Sorry, but there's something I need to do today, and I can't wait until I get better."

Okay, two big problems. (1) How are you supposed to get the money in the wrong body? Do you have account information that will let the "wrong" person make a withdrawal? (2) How are you supposed to pay the ransom in the wrong body? The kidnappers won't be happy to see a third party involved.

>Supernatural is your life now.

I fucking guess so!

>Ask the body if they can hear you, 2 blinks for yes, 1 blink for no.

"Uh... hello?" I mumble down at myself, and am creeped out to hear the doctor's voice coming from my mouth. Her mouth? I don't fucking know! "Are you in there? Blink twice if yes."

My body lies completely still. The machines say that its heart is beating, and it's breathing. But there are no irises or pupils in my body's eyes - they're just a blank white. Empty.

Then... are we both inside her body? "Hi?" I ask the air, nervously. No response.

>Then try switching back!

I don't know if I should risk it. This... whatever this is, it might be the only chance I have. I can't risk Annette's life. I have to get to the warehouse! "I'm sorry, if you're in there." I say to the me on the bed. "I have a super important prior obligation. I promise I'll undo this, when I'm done. Uh, if I can."

I leave the room, stumbling a bit with these new legs. Focusing on not falling over, I run into... a nurse, I guess? I get to my feet, feeling more than a little disoriented.

"Whoa, Margie, slow down!" She laughs, standing up. "You okay?"

"I, uh... Sorry." I start walking down the hallway, but I don't have any idea where the closest exit is.

"Aren't you on call, Margaret?" She raises an eyebrow at me. "Did you finish up with the paralyzed guy, or what?"

I have no idea what to say.

There are usually, you know, exit signs. They're sort of required in public buildings.

You can't leave yet, though. Your nurse is still in her scrubs. You gotta find the locker room so you can pick up the stuff she can't carry with her on shift. Grabbing her cell phone and car keys would probably be useful.

The money's at my house. I took it out in small amounts over the week so I wouldn't put the bank on alert.

>How are you supposed to pay the ransom in the wrong body? The kidnappers won't be happy to see a third party involved.

Shit, I don't know! I have to try, though, or she's dead for sure!

"Um... yes. Yes." I awkwardly nod. "The patient, uh... the patient is unresponsive, and relapsed into a coma."

"Oh. Okay. You didn't update his status, though." She writes something down on a chart next to the door nearby. "But, hey, no worries! Got you covered, homegirl." She gives me finger-guns.

"Oh, uh, thanks." I blink. "Hey, this might be an odd question, but... are you on call right now?"

"Nah, I just got off." She looks at me a little strangely, smiling. "I, er... well, I was actually coming to see if you wanted to grab a drink with me after you clocked out. You're done pretty soon, right?" She fiddles nervously with her hair.

Huh. I think she might be into me. Wait, but I'm... oh. I guess she's into chicks. Well, good for her, I suppose, but I don't have time for this!

>You can't leave yet, though. Your nurse is still in her scrubs. You gotta find the locker room so you can pick up the stuff she can't carry with her on shift. Grabbing her cell phone and car keys would probably be useful.

"Sure." She smiles brightly at me. This is just a hunch, but I think Remy has a shot here. Go her, I guess.

"Catch you when you're out, then." With that, I stride out into the parking lot, search for Remy's keys, and then use the beeper to pinpoint it. It's a decent little wagon. I get into the driver's seat. I reach into my pocket and pull out a phone - I get dismayed when I see the password screen, but my thumb drifts over the sensor and it unlocks. Convenient!

>you could find a stockier, better-armed body. Why don't you turn yourself in to the police? Literally!

Showing up as a cop seems like a perfect recipe for getting Annette and myself murdered.

Besides, I've been there, actually. I used to be a cop, a while back. You never forget the training. It’s the kind of training I’m worried I’ll have to fall back on, if things go south. Just like the drills, I guess. Except they’ll have guns, and I’ll have… breasts.

Hopefully it won’t come to a fight.

After a long drive, I walk into the warehouse right on time.

I’m greeted by the sight of six masked people. The people who murdered my sister Joan and her husband. I try to keep my rage in check. And there, in the middle of them, is Annette. Fourteen years old, and my niece is an orphan. She looks terrified.

“Who are you?!” The burliest of the masked people raises a gun at me.

“There - there was an accident.” I try to keep my voice steady. “Colby gave me a note, telling me where to go and what to do. He’s in the hospital.”

“You’re lying!” He yells. “This is a set-up!”

“I’m not, and I swear it’s not!” I look at Annette, who’s starting to cry. “Annette, sweetie, it’s okay, just relax. Everything is fi-”

Jump into one of them and call the police, then put the phone back in their pocket as soon as dispatch picks up.
Then jump into the one who shot Remy, shout "I FUCKING SAW THAT!" and shoot him in the head, then shout "I KNEW YOU WERE A NARC!".
Then jump into the one holding Annette and shove her over towards Remy, shout "THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" and 'miss' mister trigger happy so you'll hit somebody near him.

You now have 1-2 dead hostiles, Annette some distance away and fleeing, the police notified, and monster infighting on. Nobody is going to care about you since they're going to be too busy figuring out who is betraying who to worry about this.

Then jump back into Remy and flee. You can leave the money; Remy's bullet wound is going to tie the case up nicely, as there's a police report for every bullet wound treated.

Here's how it'll play out after the fact:
Annette heard Remy say you gave her a note explaining the kidnapping and asking for help. Remy won't remember any of this, but she's seriously wounded and there is no other explanation for her being there.
The kidnappers shooting each other was clearly because somebody else showing up spooked them, and shit went south. Happens all the time.
That establishes that it's your money, and the money being there corroborates the simplest explanation. It's evidence, but you should get it back after the police investigation is over.
>>
>I’m so sorry, Remy.

The shooter pauses, seeming hesitant. He lowers his gun slightly.

Good. Hopefully that'll be enough to keep Remy alive for a bit. Time to act fast!

" - help me." My mouth finishes saying. My eyes are blurry, confusing me for a moment. Then I wipe the tears from them, and I can see more clearly out of Annette’s fourteen-year-old eyes. The world suddenly seems a lot larger.

Remy really deserves an explanation, after all this. I’m not going to let her die here!

“Where are my keys?” She pats herself down, confused. “They aren’t where I… where are they?”

“Back pocket.”

“Oh.” She reaches back and pulls them out of the pocket where I left them. “How did you know that?”

“Never mind that, we need to focus. Where’s your first-aid kit?”

“It’s in the far back.” She holds her bullet wound tightly. She looks very pale. “I - I think I’m going to be sick.”

She’s moving slowly, so I grab the keys out of her hands and unlock the back door of the wagon. It doesn’t take long to find the medical kit. Once I’ve got it, I help her into the back seat. She starts patching herself up, with me handing her what she needs. She still doesn’t look at all well, though.

“That’s… that’s about as much as I can do.” She shivers in pain. “Who are you? You’re so young, but you don’t act like it. Also, wait… you knew my name, and that I was nurse. How?”

Should I tell her? I did get her shot, and all. I feel pretty guilty about that.
>>

ok here is the run down of tonight. "You got a date with the nurse that you asked out. I possesed you to come to the rescue of this girl because I am the coma patient and I apparently have supernatural powers and you are going to look really sexy to that lady you were trying to seduce tomorrow when you are laying in a bed as the hero who saved a little girls life and she is taking care of you. Lets get to the hospital now so I can get back in my body and you can get your bullet wound checked out."
>>
>>1949890
Have her lie down, then start driving to the nearest hospital and call emergency services. Tell them you just escaped from some kidnappers, and the lady who rescued you got shot.
Tell them where you're headed, that she needs an ambulance, and that you don't know if the kidnappers are following you.
Then tell them where the kidnappers were.
>>
>>1949890
"You told me your name, in between blackouts. I just want to tell you good luck, we're all counting on you." That's your new sign-off with her.
Swap again, you need to debrief your niece.
>>

>I was just… I had my gun to the woman’s head, and then… Did I pull the trigger?
Huh. I wonder if the other ghost is your sister.

>Should I tell her? I did get her shot, and all. I feel pretty guilty about that.
I'm not sure she'd believe you, anyways. "I'm a ghost. I'm sorry, I used you to help this girl."

At least with her getting shot, they'll have something to blame the blackouts on. With Remmy, they'll probably attribute it to trauma.

“Believe it or not, I’m a ghost. Sort of.” I smile, trying to appear polite and not insane. “I’m sorry. I possessed you to save this girl.” I point at myself. “She’s my niece.”

“…I got possessed?” She winces. “Shit, grandma was actually right?!”

“Huh?”

“She said if I kept wearing inverted crosses and kissing girls that I’d end up possessed by the devil.” She thinks it over, briefly. “You’re not the devil, though, right?”

“I try not to be.” I shrug. “My name’s Colby Wildhan. I was a coma patient at your hospital.”

“I remember you! Margaret was looking after you.” She looks down at her injury. “So, wait, you’ve been possessing my body? And you got me shot?!”

“I didn’t mean to! Sorry.” I give her a lopsided grin. “At least you’ll look sexy to that lady you like, lying in a bed as a hero who saved a little girl’s life. You can try to seduce her tomorrow, yeah?”

“Those words sound seriously fucked up coming from a kid’s mouth.” She looks nauseous. “Hang on, you know that I like Margaret? Have you been rooting around inside my head?!”

“No, you’re just really obvious. She said yes to the date when I asked, though, so I think she’s into you.”

“You asked her out in my body?! That’s… aaagh!” She claps a hand to her forehead. “This is insane!”

“Look, we can talk it over in a bit. I need to get my niece up to speed, so I’ll have to borrow you for a moment. That cool?”

“Wait, you’re jumping inside me again?” She recoils, looking weirded out. “I… okay, I guess. Just please make it quick. I don't want to wake up with another bullet in my body, okay?! And - and don’t move too much, you’ll ruin my bandages!”

“Understood.” Her eyes turn to water, and I slip on over.

“Ack!” Annette pulls back with a jolt. “That was - I was…!”

“Try to relax, Annette.” My words come out through gritted teeth. This bullet wound hurts way more than it did at the beginning. Remind me to buy Remy a lot of flowers. “Look, this is going to be hard to believe, but - “

“Uncle Colby?” Annette’s jaw drops. “Is that you in there?”

“Huh?” I blink. “Uh, yeah. How did you know?”

“You were just talking to her about it. I felt you moving around and saying things with my mouth.” She shivers. “It was like I couldn’t control myself at all!”

“You remember it? And… how are you not freaked out?”

“Mom does it, too. She says it’s a family thing.” She suddenly sits bolt upright. “Mom! She’s still in there!”

>Huh. I wonder if the other ghost is your sister.

…Oh shit.

I was going to drive Remy to the hospital, but if Joan’s still alive in there… what should I do? I can’t just leave her! But how could I even help her in either of these bodies?
>>
>>1950356
You can only wait and see if she comes out of that warehouse intact. Annette, did she give you any way of contacting her?
>>
>>1950356
Huh, you're the only one so far who remembers. Everyone else blacked out.

>what should I do?
You get the bystander you involved, and your sister's daughter, to safety.

If your sister is a ghost like you, she'll find a way to get out safe.
>>
>>1950356
You want to know how to help your sister?
Oh, that's SUPER easy! All you have to do is pull out Remy's cell phone and CALL 911!
Seriously, get an ambulance and some cops here.
Just tell them "I've been shot. Some drugged up gang was holding a little girl hostage, and you got her away, and they just started shooting each other, and you don't know what's going on, and you're a nurse and this is a lot of blood and they're still shooting and you really need an ambulance and the police right now."
With increasing levels of panic in your voice.

“Annette, did your mom give you any way to contact her? Any special information?”

“No.” Annette shakes her head. “We only talked once. We didn’t have much time, and the rest of those… bad people kept getting in our way. Mom just said that she was inside that woman, that she did it using an old family trick, and that she was going to keep me safe.”

“I see. Hm.” Breathing as calmly as I can through my pain, I pull out Remy’s phone and call the police. “Hello? Please, I need help! I’ve been shot. Yes… some drugged up gang. I don’t know. They just started shooting each other!” I decide to put my acting skills to the test, putting on a tearful tone. “I don’t know what’s going on! I’m a nurse, and this is a lot of blood, and they’re still shooting and…! Yes, I can give you the address.” I go on to give them directions, thank them, and then hang up.

>ambulance

I think I’d better drive Remy to the hospital myself. It’ll be faster than waiting.

“Sweetie, I think I’m going to need to go inside you again.” I put a comforting hand on Annette’s shoulder. “We need to go to the hospital, and Remy… this woman, she’s in no condition to drive. Is it alright if I use your body?”

“I don’t know…” Annette squirms, not looking particularly excited by the idea. Then she glances at the bloody bandages around Remy’s midsection, and she bites her lip. “If you have to. How long?”

“It might be for a while.” I admit. “An hour, maybe more. Are you sure that’s okay?”

She looks even more queasy at the thought, but she nods. I look her in the eyes, and they ripple. As I start to hop over, however, she suddenly speaks up: “Wait! What about -“

“- Mom?” I finish. I take a deep breath, now all too aware that I’m not alone in this skin. I pat my own cheek softly. “I’ll do what I can, sweetie. Your and Remy’s safety is my top priority, though. Besides, if your Mom is like me, I’m sure she’ll find a way to get out safe.” It’s a way to assure myself as well as her, but I’m not sure it works on either count.

“Who are you talking to?” Remy blinks. “Also, are you going to possess me, or what?”

“I already did.” I open the car door, close it, circle the car and hop in the driver’s seat. “I’m really sorry about the pain, by the way. I didn’t realize how bad it was.”

“It’s not great!” She agrees, tensing up a little. “Wait, are you going to drive my car?!”

“Yes. I’m not going to stay here. Those people who shot you could be right behind us, and you’re injured.” I reach an arm back towards her. “Keys?”

She stares at my open hand for a little while, then fishes out her keys and reluctantly hands them over. “Don’t you dare crash. I’m still paying this off.”

“I’ll do my best.” I rev up the engine. It’s going to be a little harder to drive with how short Annette is - I can only barely reach the pedals - but by no means is it impossible. That said, something makes me pause. I turn to the side, pulling aside Annette’s tangled mess of hair to get a better look out of the passenger-side window.

Not far from the car, the woman Joan was possessing is now stumbling out of the alley. She’s got a bullet wound in her shoulder, and she looks pretty ragged. When she spots our car, she starts moving towards us quickly.

I hesitate. On one hand, this woman could be a gun-toting murderer. On the other hand, she could be my sister. Should I wait for her, or just drive out of here as fast as I can?

“Mom?” I call out to her.

“Annette?” She calls back. “Are you…? No, you’re not. Annette and I haven’t even started driving lessons yet.”

Just to check, I try to possess her. Nothing.

“I assume this belongs to you?” She opens the passenger side door and tosses the briefcase filled with my money on the floor. The handle is spattered in blood. “I thought you might want it back.”

“Yeah, actually. I forgot about that.” I nod. “Also, no, I’m not Annette. She’s in here, though, weirdly enough. I hopped out of her for a bit, and she said she could feel and remember everything.”

“It’s probably because of her blood. Our blood, I suppose, if you can do it too.” She collapses into the passenger seat.“You should drive. I made sure everyone got a bullet or two, back there, but I don’t know if that’ll stop them from coming after us.”

“Alright.” I floor the pedal as best I can with Annette’s short legs. “Is it really you, Joan? I thought you were dead.”

“I am. My body is, anyway.” She pulls her mask down, taking a gasp of fresh air. “Who are you? Someone from the family? Dad?”

“Dad can do this?” I raise an eyebrow. “That seems like it should have come up at family dinners. And no, I’m not Dad. I’m Colby.”

“Colby?!” She looks at me, startled. “You can body hop?”

“Apparently.” I take a slow turn downtown, on the way back to the hospital. “You can, too. How is this possible? Why can we do this?”

“I don’t know. Dad used to say it was just something our family did. Going back generations, now.” She winces, her gaze drifting to her bullet wound. “I never believed him. I could never do it, see. But then - well, we were getting robbed, and this woman shot Greg, and was about to shoot me. I just looked her in the eyes, and poof - I felt my finger pull the trigger, and I watched as my body fell over dead.”

“Oh, shit. You don’t have a body to go back to.” I realize, horrified. “What are you going to do, Joan?”

“I’m not sure.” She examines her hands with an odd expression. “I don’t suppose… well, this woman destroyed my life, and she murdered my body. Do you think I would be justified in keeping hers? Would that be wrong?”
>>
>>1952710
eh fuck it keep the body its not like she was using it for much good.
>>
>>1952710
On one hand it's not like she was going to do anything good with it, on the other hand her past could come back to haunt you. I'd probably try to work out a deal with a hospital to get a comatose patient's body - uh, besides mine, that is.
>>
>>1952710
That's justified. Dangerous if she needs to hop again though. Also, you'd have to assume the identity of a murderer. Very inconvenient.
>>
>>1952710
I don't know, but you might have a problem keeping that body out of jail if you want to use it. She is a multi-murderer and a kidnapper. Not exactly the kind of person the police would want to leave Annette with.
>>
>>1952710
"Pretty sure nobody would stop you, but she's going to wind up in jail for killing you. And probably a boatload of other things. You sure your body is dead? You'd be surprised what you can live through.

Again, Remy, I'm sorry I got you caught up in all this, it should have been safe. I brought them the damn ransom."
>>
>>1952710
Hey, she broke yours. More than fair, it's self defense. Who else would you occupy? There's no justification for anyone else, no attacker to defend yourself against. More than that, you -can't- give up her body without violating someone else's. You're stuck.

Might be impractical though what with the "in the body of a murderer" thing.

“Hey, she broke yours, so I’d say it’s justified. I don’t think anyone would stop you. I don’t know if they even could.” I sigh. “But that body comes with a lot of baggage, doesn’t it? Your own murder being on the top of the pile. She’s a multi-murderer, a kidnapper, and probably a bit else besides. At best, that’s impractical and very inconvenient. At worst, you might end up in jail.”

“That’s true. It would be complicated.” She looks in the back seat, then gives Remy an innocent smile. “I don’t suppose you would mind hosting me? I’m homeless, and you have a nice face.”

“No! I mean - agh, just NO!” Remy squeaks in fright. “My body belongs to me!”

“Oh, calm down, dear, I’m only joking.” Joan laughs. “Who is she, Colby? Your girlfriend?”

I put on a worldly expression. “Well, I hate to brag…”

“I’m just his nurse! And gay! Very gay! I - I have a date!” Remy’s so flustered! I can’t help but chuckle - er, giggle, actually. It’s nice to hear Annette’s laugh, even though it’s not exactly her laughing.

“Again, Remy, I’m sorry I got you caught up in all this.” I glance back at her, turning onto the road to the hospital. I slow the car’s speed, keeping Joan and Remy’s injuries in mind. “It should have been safe. I brought them the damn ransom!”

“They weren’t the most stable people.” Joan speaks up. “Also, Colby, I’d prefer it if you’d keep your language clean around Annette, especially while you’re occupying her; I don’t want her to get used to talking like that.”

“Huh? Oh, sorry.” I point at my own face. “You heard your mom, Annette. Keep your vocabulary clean. Stay in school. Don’t do drugs.” With that done, I turn back to Remy. “But, yeah. I’m very sorry. Is there anything I could do to make up for all this?”

“Thanks for the apology, but I’m… well, I’m not entirely okay with what you did, but I understand why you did it.” Remy’s breath is a little short, probably due to the pain. She shoots me a hesitant smile, though. “I guess I’ll just write it off as a favor for a patient.”

“I seriously appreciate it. Thank you.” A thought occurs to me. “How many coma patients do you have at the hospital? Do you think we could work out a deal with the hospital to let Joan have one of those bodies? Besides mine, I mean.”

“Uh… No?” Remy shakes her head, looking unsettled. “The thing about coma patients is that they have a tendency to wake up. That’s why we call them ‘patients’, and not ‘living cadavers’.”

“Do you know of any who are being pulled off of life support?” Joan asks, hopeful. “I could take care of their body, and pop out of them every so often to check if they’re awake.”

“Patient confidentiality means that I can’t…” She trails off, conflicted. She lowers her gaze, frowning, as if she’s disappointed with herself. “There is someone. She attempted suicide after her parents disowned her, and she hasn’t woken up since. We were going to pull her off of the respirator tomorrow, since her parents declined her medical bills. She’s barely seventeen years old.”

“How awful!” Joan gasps. “So, um, you’re saying she’s free?”

Remy nods, though slowly and reluctantly.

“Sorry to interrupt, ladies.” I pull up into the hospital parking lot. “But we’ve arrived.”

“Oh, I didn’t even notice!” Joan looks over. “Well, I know where I’m going next. Just one problem, though: if I get out of this body, I’ll be letting my husband’s murderer run free. I refuse to let that happen.” She puzzles over it, irritated. “Do you have any ideas, Colby?”

“While you’re on that, I need to know what to tell people!” Remy pipes up. “Gunshots are kind of a big deal. One of the biggest, actually. I’m a bit nervous about going in there and saying ‘I have no idea what happened, someone else was possessing my body’.”

“If you do want to tell people the truth, I’d be willing to back you up.” Joan adds. “Though… well, if people find out about our abilities, it might put us in an awkward position. People would panic. I can see the headlines now: ‘Bodyjackers Are Real, No One Is Safe’!” She grimaces. “How do you feel about letting people know about us, Colby? It’s your secret, too.”

“Could you both please slow down?” I raise my hand in a ‘shush’ motion. “You’re throwing a bunch of questions at me all at once. Give me a little time to think.”

Okay, so: 1. What should we do about Joan’s killer? 2. What do we tell people about what happened? 3. Should we keep the body-hopping hidden, or let people know?
>>
>1. What should we do about Joan’s killer?
Well, I mean, you could have her turn herself in and confess. And then hop to a cop and leave her behind. And then go from there, hopping from person to person till you get to a stable situation.

>2. What do we tell people about what happened?
Kidnappers turned on each other, Remmy happened to get caught in the crossfire?

>3. Should we keep the body-hopping hidden, or let people know?
Seems sorta like it would blow up if you tried to tell everyone.

1) You're a cop, get some unmistakable evidence of her crimes before the swap then turn her in. The gun, spoken testimony (might need to do a little acting), things like that. You can hold the unresponsive body for Annette until then. Yours isn't going anywhere... Hey, speaking of which Annette, what exactly does our family normally *do* with their own bodies while they're swapped?
2) Exactly that it was a favor, some very extraordinary circumstances, maybe fudge the part where Colby wasn't actually able to communicate the problem yet.
3) No. Your family line's had the right idea so far. No need to put that sort of attention on yourself.
>>
>>1954989
1: Have her demand a video camera and then confess to her own murder, and give enough details to prove the case. Tell them you snorted a bunch of random pills, and you're feeling bad about it for once in your life.
Once you skip out, it'll look like she's going in and out of lucidity and having memory lapses. The police will be called, they'll arrest her and keep her here for observation while she has unknown drugs in her system, and then she'll go to jail.
Just don't jump out while the camera is on, because then the eye changes will be recorded under consistent lighting.
2. Tell them the truth, from a certain point of view. You woke up enough to tell a nurse your niece was being held for ransom, and what needed to be done to save her. The nurse bravely went above and beyond the call of duty to save an innocent girl, and was shot in the process. The gang panicked and turned on each other.
3. Noooooo... That's an awful idea.

“Okay, in reverse order: Let’s absolutely not tell anyone about the body-hopping. Our family line’s had the right idea so far. No need to put that sort of attention on ourselves.” I get a nod of agreement from Joan, and Remy just shrugs. “As for what to tell people about your injury, Remy, we’ll tell them the truth - from a certain point of view. Maybe fudge the beginning part a bit. Let’s say that I recovered enough to tell you that Annette was being held for ransom, and what you needed to do to save her.”

“That didn’t happen, though.” Remy blinks. “This is a lot of truth-stretching.”

“Just wait. Okay, so you then bravely went above and beyond the call of duty to save an innocent girl, and you were shot in the process. The gang panicked and turned on each other.” I smile back at her. “You saved Annette. You did a huge favor for a patient. You got shot for it. You’re a hero. All that ring true enough?”

“Huh.” She seems to like that last part. “I mean… I guess it’s not that different from what happened. I suppose I can roll with that.”

“Great! Okay, finally: Joan, as a former cop, I can tell you that there are few things as damning as someone walking into a police station with a handgun and a bullet wound, demanding a video camera, and confessing to their crimes.” I grin. “If you do that and then hop out of her, she’ll be taken to court, and any confusion on her part will be written off as her either being mentally unstable or her trying to dodge her sentence. They’ll be able to tell that her gun was recently fired by using gun shot residue tests, too.”

“That sounds like a solid plan.” Joan nods thoughtfully. “It’ll take a while, though, won’t it?”

“Probably an hour or two.” I admit. “We’ll be waiting at the hospital, though. It’s not like I’m going anywhere, and Remy’s probably going to need some bed rest, too.”

“Alright.” She nods. “But… one last thing, before I go?”

“What is it?”

“I want to talk to Annette. I know you said she can hear all of this, but… I really want to speak with her. Not through her.”

“I have no problem with that, but…” I glance back at Remy. “Well, what do you think, Remy? I’d have to use you again.”

“Please!” Joan pleads. “I just want to spend a moment with my daughter. We haven’t been able to talk in days. I need to make sure she’s okay.”

“…What kind of asshole would I have to be to say no to that?” Remy responds with a sheepish look. “I don’t know how I feel overall about being used, but… for this, I don’t mind.”

“It’s alright if you don’t feel comfortable with it. You don’t have to say yes. ” I explain, feeling a little guilty after all my non-consensual body-borrowing today. “Are you sure about this?”

“Oh, just do it, would you?!” She bites her lip, awkwardly shifting around under my gaze. “Before I have time to think about it!”

“If you say so.” I look her in the eyes, and pretty soon I’m looking out of them.

“Ah!” Annette gasps, suddenly sitting up in her seat. “That… that was… Uncle Colby?”

“I’m here.” I grunt in Remy’s voice, twisting from the pain. It feels worse every time. “Are you okay, sweetie?”

“I - I think so?” She looks like she just got the breath knocked out of her. “It was so strange. Like watching a movie from inside my head. I couldn’t move or say anything.”

“Oh, sweetheart!” Joan gets out of the car, rushes around to the other side, and opens the door. She pulls Annette out of the car and into a hug. “If you’d… if something had happened… oh, Annette. I’m so glad you’re safe! Are you feeling alright?”

“I’m okay, mom.” She mumbles. She looks at Joan’s borrowed face strangely. “I still can’t believe that’s you in there.”

“Please don’t look at me, dear. Close your eyes.” Joan sounds like she’s on the verge of tears. “This isn’t my face, and what you’re hearing isn’t my voice. But this? This is me.” She embraces Annette more tightly, holding her close to her chest. They stay like that for a long while, and I spend the time fidgeting around in the back seat, trying not to cry due to the searing ache of Remy’s bullet wound.

Finally, Joan lets Annette go. Both of them are crying and smiling at the same time. Considering what they’ve been through this past week, I think they’re handling the situation pretty well.

“Do you want me to drive you to the police station?” I ask Joan, hoping I’m not interrupting too early.

“The station’s not too far away, is it? I remember the way. I’ll walk.” Joan asks me, wiping tears from her face. “You have to look after Annette while I’m gone, okay? And you’d better take good care of her!”

“I will. Promise.” I give her a thumbs-up. “Good luck, Joan. We’ll see you when you get back.”

With that, she waves to us, turns, and walks away.

“What now, Uncle?” Annette asks, turning to me.

“First thing’s first: I need to get this looked at.” I point at my injury. “Can you please help me into the hospital?”

Annette’s a good girl, so of course she agrees to help. She gives me a hand standing up, and it really is an ordeal. Just walking the few feet it takes to get into the hospital is an intensely difficult journey. Nausea and tremors of pain accompany every footstep. I manage to get through the door, though.

“Oh my god!” As soon as we get inside, I spot a familiar face, and she spots me. Margaret drops the chart she was holding, rushing over to help me inside. “What happened, Remy?! Is - is that a gunshot?”

“Uh…” I hesitate. I glance over at Annette, wondering if she’d mind me hopping into her again. She notices my look, and I think she’s following what I’m thinking, because she points to her own face with a questioning expression. I nod, very slightly. She takes a deep breath, lets it out, and then nods back, purposefully widening her eyes at me. It seems like she’s okay with it.

That said, it’s my lies which Remy agreed to tell, and I have no guarantee that she’ll go through with that. I did hijack her body, after all. She doesn’t owe me anything. Should I betray Remy’s trust and explain things in her place, or should I slip away into Annette’s body and put my faith in Remy to handle the situation?

>Should I betray Remy’s trust and explain things in her place, or should I slip away into Annette’s body and put my faith in Remy to handle the situation?
She's gonna have to tell this story more than once, you're going to have to let her tell her own lies.

And well, if she doesn't go along with it, who's going to believe her if she tells the truth?

Jump ship.

Probably should look for some hapless bystander so you can let Annette have time to answer questions herself as soon as you can. So long as you're not running anyone into danger, and you're not sticking with any one person, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Or I guess you could crash in your own body for a while. Annette asking to see family would be pretty easy to arrange.
>>
>>1967575
You should slip into your attendant nurse's body to cover the other half of the alibi, the one that knows for a fact you've been nonresponsive all day.

"Yes. Please call for a bed and for them to prep the OR. I'll tell you what I know, but I am in a lot of pain and having to stand and walk is making the bleeding worse. Also, I'm starting to feel a bit woozy and would like to lay down so I don't pass out."
Trust her.
Once you're on the bed, switch bodies. Remy will be disoriented and not remember what was just said, which will make it look like she's starting to slip in and out of consciousness.
That's normal in her condition, which wil make things easier.

"Testing!"

(In case anyone is wondering, this is because /qst/ stopped allowing me to post any sort of quotation marks for some reason. I have no idea why this is happening, but it's extremely irritating.)

Yes. Please call for a bed and for them to prep the operating room. Ill tell you what I know, but I am in a lot of pain. I think having to stand and walk is making the bleeding worse. I shake and stumble, and my words come out in slow bursts. I would love to chalk that up to acting skills, but Im seriously hurting here. Im starting to feel a bit woozy I would like to lay down so I dont pass out.

Of course, Remy! This way! Margaret leads me down the hall, gingerly pulling me by the arm and letting me rest my weight on her. Several times, I space out and stop, but luckily Annette and Margaret are there to help me along.

Not nearly as soon as Id have liked, Im shown to a bed, and I collapse into it with a groan. Time passes, Im not entirely sure how much. Margaret comes and goes a couple of times.

Alright, Remy. Stay with me, please. Margaret calls out, standing at the foot of my bed. James is preparing for surgery - you dont know him, but hes a great doctor. Youll be fine, okay? Promise. But I need to know how this happened.

I glance over at Annette. She gives me another nod of readiness, and her eyes ripple. It only takes me a few moments to slip into her skin.

Huh? Remy blinks, looking around with confusion. Margaret? What where am?

Youre in the hospital. Margaret does her best to smile, but her concern leaks through. The surgeons are getting ready, but I need to know what happened. Can you tell me?

Um Remy looks over at me. I give her a small wave. Theres a catch of realization in her breath, and she nods in understanding. Oh. Well it started with that patient from this morning - Colby Wildhan. He spoke to me. He said his niece had been kidnapped, and he was supposed to pay the ransom, but he couldnt because of the accident. He asked me to help her.

Th - thats me. I volunteer with an intentional stutter, doing my best Annette impression. She saved my life!

Really? Margaret seems very surprised by all this, and who can blame her? Are you okay? Where are your parents?

Im alright. My parents are well, theyre I falter, this time not as an act. Im not sure what My uncles going to look after me. I finally tell her.

You mean Mr. Wildhan? But hes not going to be on his feet for Margaret stops herself. Ah, I mean well, you can wait in his room, I suppose. Ask the man at the desk to give you directions, alright? She points.

Okay. I nod. As an afterthought, I turn to Remy and throw her a big happy smile. Thank you for everything, Miss Remy!

Youre welcome. Remy seems unsure whether shes amused or creeped out by the way Im acting.

As Im leaving, I accidentally eavesdrop on Remy and Margaret talking.

It seems like you had a real adventure. Margaret says to her. Its a shame, though. I was looking forward to our date. Rain check for after youre out of surgery?

Yeah, sure. Remy sighs. After a moment, though, her voice perks up. Wait. You knew it was a date? And you still said yes?

Of course! Im not oblivious, you know. I see the way you look at me when you think Im not paying attention. Margaret laughs. I like it. Its cute.

Okay, I am going to try something else, because this clearly is not working. I would delete the broken posts I have already made, but it will not let me, because this website is terrible.

All of my future quests will be run on TGchan.
