In the far future, biotechnology advances by leaps and bounds, creating stunning achievements in medical, civil, and military applications. Illness becomes a thing of the past, and genetic modification is as commonplace as cosmetic surgery.

However, like all great advances, unchecked progress and experimentation has led to abuse and corruption. Ultra powerful megacorporations that monopolized the latest biotech have risen to be the great powers of the age, waging secret wars of sabotage, espionage, and deceit to get ahead of each other.

In order to fuel their rampant growth, megacorps develop lethal diseases and viruses, horrific bio-organic abominations, and ever more exotic genetic modifications to both sell to the highest bidder and unleash upon each other.

The rampant proliferation of bioweapons, and the need to contain them, has given rise to a new profession, the BIOWEAPON HUNTER.

You are LEWIS, a Hunter specializing in hunting down biological threats with your T-Doll companion HK!

Well, you were back at the office and ready to work, especially now that HK was rated as fully operational again. Given a clean bill of "health" by Nemo.

"Hey HK, how are you doing?" You ask as you enter the lab.

"All systems nominal." HK reports as she puts her signature beret on. "All structural and superficial damage has been repaired, as well. Status is green."

Sure enough, HK literally looked good as new, as if she had never tanked a direct punch from a Tyrant-class BOW. She was even sporting a completely fresh set of clothes. No doubt there was a closet here full of identical copies. However, the beret still looked original. You note that it was slightly scuffed and faded. Sentiment? You weren't sure if HK was even capable of such a thing.

"That's good to hear." You nod.

"May I inquire what you were doing yesterday?" HK asks, still staring blankly at you. "You were out of contact all day."

"Why do you want to know?" You frown.

"I'm programmed to track the movements and actions of my partner. Otherwise I wouldn't be a good partner unit." HK says simply.

"Yeah, we kinda sorta worked together, but other than that we didn't really do much." You shrug. "Why?"

"Totally repaired." You resident scientist assures you. "No abnormalities in her programming, either."

"Huh, okay." You shrug.

"Sure thing. I've been itching to get back to work, too." You grin as you ruffle HK's hair, beret and all. "Besides, you're still my favorite."

HK pauses but doesn't say anything as she quickly follows you out of the lab. You can almost feel Nemo rolling her eyes as she returns to her work. Probably grabbing another power nap.

"Hey there, finally back, huh?" Hank chuckles. "I heard that you were out on a date night yesterday!"

"Ha ha, Carol tell you again?" You groan.

"She does like a gossip." Your former partner cackles.

"Sir, you still have expense reports to fill out." G dutifully reminds him.

"Yeah, I know, I know!" Hank sighs. "Gotta explain how SOMEONE trashed one of our most precious and expensive armory items!"

Yeesh. Guess Hank was still bit sore about you losing Big Mama.

"Lewis! Just the person I was looking for!" The Boss barks as she strides out of her office. "Time to earn your pay!"

"I take it we have some new jobs?" You grin.

"Of course we do." The Boss crosses her arms. "So you gonna keep to the city or do you want to head out somewhere a little more... exotic?"

Of course.

SANDSTORM: A Genecorp plane carrying high value organs was hijacked and redirected to a remote desert in Mexico. Drop in and recover their merchandise by any means necessary.

Sand sucks along with the dry heat, and Brazil doesn't sound that nice either with the humid heat and the bugs. "I suppose Brazil is nice this time of year...?" You say uncertainly.

"Excellent!" The Boss smiles and pats you on the shoulder. "Just make sure you get all of your shots before you go!"

"Oh right." You groan. Not only did you need to get vaccinated against the White Death viral plague, you also needed to make sure you didn't catch any of the REGULAR diseases endemic to region. Malaria, yellow fever, and all the other tropical nasties.

"I do suggest you get properly vaccinated." HK nods.

"Easy for you to say. You don't even get sick." You sigh.

"Correct." HK confirms.

"You're gonna be far from home on this one, kid." Hank grunts. "You wanna tell anyone you're going on a business trip?"

Perhaps, unless Carol is keeping her combat experience and abilities a secret from Lewis on Alice's orders.

Alternatively, a mysterious heavily biomodded vigilante covered in black armour appears in Raccoon City the moment we leave.

You call up Lucina first, and surprisingly enough, she picks up pretty quickly.

"You better not be in trouble again, Lewis." She sighs.

"No, but I'm about to." You chuckle. "Thankfully for you, it's out of town."

"Thank god." Lucina sighs in relief.

"Oh, are you that happy to see me go?" You say with mock offense. "That hurts!"

"Means you'll be someone else's problem for the next couple of days." Lucina replies simply. "Just don't get killed out there."

"Sure thing."

Lucina promptly hangs up. Probably on some sort of stakeout or something. Probably best not to ask too many questions.

You then dial up Carol.

"Oh! Lewie!" Carol says happily. "It's rare for you to call from work!"

"Yeah, well, I'm just letting you know that I'll be out of town. Probably for the next couple of days, so don't expect me back for a bit."

"Whaaaaaaaaat!?" Carol gasps.

"Ohmygosh! You're really- WAIT!" Carol yelps. "You're trying to prank me, aren't you!?"

"Haha, you saw right through it!" You can't help but burst out into laughter. "Can't believe you're still falling for it!"

"Nnnnnnn, it's not nice to lie to your older sister like that!" Carol whines. "Don't make me punish you when you get back!"

"Oh no, how horrifying!" You jokingly wail.

Hank just shakes his head and gets back to his work, while HK just stares at you, more confused than anything else.

"They're always like that." Hank grunts. "Typical brother sister crap."

"Ah, I see." HK nods.

"Anyways, you should be going, or you'll be late for your flight!" The Boss grunts as she shoves an envelope into your arms and starts practically pushing you out of the office. "Go go go!"

"Fine, fine." You sigh as you make your exit, HK loyally following you.

Unfortunately, and to expectations, the Boss had picked out the cheapest tickets for you, only fulfilling the bare minimum of actually getting you to the destination. That mean hitching a ride on a courier plane, one that wasn't even supposed to carry passengers. Apparently, the Boss was buddies with the owner of this particular cargo hauling company, so she got a huge discount.

Anyways, you currently were trying to hold in your lunch as the plane lurched and jostled. Cargo haulers were not exactly built for comfort, much to your chagrin. Well, you had to deal with it.

HK, on the other hand, didn't seem visibly bothered by the situation at all. Then again, she probably wasn't programmed to.

"You look to be in discomfort." HK observes. "Do you require medical attention?"

"No, I'm fine. Just hate traveling like this." You sigh.

"I see." HK nods. "I've been keeping tabs on local news and find no reference to this White Death you speak of."

"Well obviously, because the government doesn't want anybody to know." You shrug. "Right now, it's only a few rural villages being infected, so nobody will notice if we wipe them off the map. Quick and relatively clean."

"If the infections are occurring in the jungle, how will we reach the affected areas?" HK asks.

"Well, we get down the fastest way. We jump." You tell her.

"You mean paradrop?" HK's eyes widen. "Is that advisable?"

"Not really, but anything to get off this damn plane quicker is okay with me." You grunt. "The plan is to drop down to the army camp that's being used as the field HQ. Can't miss it. Do you know how to parachute?"

"Standby." HK's eyes glow for a second. "I do now."

"Real convenient." You laugh.

"Hey, we're over the target area." The pilot announces over the intercom. "If you're leaving early, it better be now."

"Yeah yeah, we're getting out of your hair." You say as you slip on your parachute. "Ready?"

"Of course." HK responds, already wearing her parachute. How the hell did she put it on so fast?

"Right, then let's go!" You say as you kick the door open and leap out.

You're immediately hit by a wall of rushing air as you drop out of the plane, and your sight is filled with green as you see the endless expanse of jungle below. Already, you could see thick clouds of black smoke rising from several points in the jungle, obvious signs of fires, and where there was fire, there was conflict.

You also see what is obviously an artificial clearing carved out of the jungle, with numerous tents and vehicles gathered within. Your target.

You crane your head behind you, and caught a glimpse of HK falling with almost perfect form. She didn't seem bothered by the extreme environment at all. As expected.

And so you pull the cord and deploy your chute, slowing your fall, but you're caught off guard as HK zooms past, still falling at full speed. She hadn't deployed her chute.

Your heart stops for a second. For a moment, you're afraid that her chute was faulty or she made some sort of error. But no, she pulls her chute at the literal last second, slowing her fall just enough for her to touch down on the ground, not even bothered.

She was already drawing a crowd by the time you touch down. Mostly Brazilian army soldiers and refugees who witnessed her daring landing.

"Hello, Lewis." HK says, ignoring her admirers.

"What kind of paradrop lesson did you download...?" You frown as you unclip your parachute and roll it up to prevent it from blowing away.

"I simply took the basic lesson and changed the timing based on my own calculations." HK reports. "After all, my legs have far greater tolerances than a regular human, so I can land at a higher velocity. Therefore it's more time efficient."

"I see..." You frown.

"Oi! More mercenaries?" You hear a loud voice bark.

Almost immediately, the soldiers and refugees scatter. Apparently whoever was shouting was the head honcho. You and HK spin around to face him.

Stomping towards you was a brute of a man. The type of man who looked at home in the unforgiving depths of a jungle. A real soldier and survivor, from you could surmise.

"That's right." You nod. "We're from Ghost Corps. We're told you have a bit of an epidemic that needs containing."

"Yes, we do." The officer nods, his Brazilian accent thick and heavy. "Follow me. You'll need to be briefed and the infection is traveling at a much faster pace than we predicted."

Damn. That was pretty much never a good sign...

"We suspect that there are... 'hostile elements' deliberately spreading the White Death virus to these outlying villages." Captain Braga of the Brazilian Army says grimly as he points to the map laid out on the portable steel table of his command tent.

"That is 95% likely judging from the known infection points." HK concurs, glancing at the map. "Too many infections occurring in different areas simultaneously. Natural infection would be in waves following natural migration patterns."

"Ahem, yes, that is our conclusion." Captain Braga nods. "Right now, my men are stretched thin just keeping the quarantine line secure. And they're not equipped to handle a biological disaster of this magnitude."

"So you need us to go in and do the dirty work." You nod. "How badly hit are these areas?"

"Completely lost." Braga turns on a projector, show a chilling, but familiar image.

It showed one of those jungle villages, the roads choked with deathly pale, skeletal corpses. Those that still clung to life were seen shambling aimlessly through their former home, deathly pale like their deceased comrades. Such was how the White Death earned its grisly moniker.

Nobody really knew how this superplague came about. Some said it was a leftover bioweapon left behind by the extraterrestrial Invaders so many years ago. Others claimed it was a bioweapon produced in secret, or an existing malady that mutated upon exposure to artificially manufactured bio compounds. Either way, it was a endemic issue in developing countries that couldn't afford the vaccine or mass produce their own supplies.

What was unsettling about the White Death wasn't just it's insanely high mortality rate, but those in the very latest stages of the disease lose all forms of higher though and essentially become aggressive and feral animals, rabidly attacking anything they see and spreading the infection further.

"So what do you want us to do?" You ask Braga.

"You look like capable Hunters. You might just be the ones who can hunt down whoever is spreading the plague." Braga grunts. "Or you can assist in clearing out the infected villages. The faster we eliminate the infected the sooner we can wrap this operation up."

"We'll do some hunting. That's our specialty, after all." You grin.

"Then I'll leave you to it." Braga nods. "We don't exactly where they are, but-"

"Judging from the infection patterns, this is the most likely source." HK points to an empty patch on the map. "This is the most centralized location in the area and the presence of a river allows for concealed movement of personnel and supplies."

"Is there any sort of village or facility there?" You ask.

"There was a logging camp that was shut down some years ago. That's why it's no longer on the map." Braga frowns. "You might be on to something here. I can prepare an immediate strike force to sanitize the area."

"You men would be better served keeping the quarantine in check." You shake your head. "Don't worry, we can handle this quickly and quietly. All we need is a ride."

"I wouldn't recommend going out in the jungle alone, especially since the groups out here can be rather... troublesome. But I won't question your motives." Braga grunts. "If you need transport, I'll gladly provide it. Just tell me what you need.

Well, there were three immediate transportation options you could think of. There was the land route, which would be the most straightforward, though most difficult logistically. Approaching up the river was quicker and simpler, and you could use the water itself to your advantage, but your options for maneuver would be limited. Finally, there was insertion from air. A low altitude paradrop via helicopter would provide the quickest and most unexpected method of entry.

"We'll need a boat. A good one." You say.

"Hmm, all right." Braga nods. "We have quite a selection, though.

You ponder your options. You could pick a larger boat that was armored and armed. It could prove to be a nice fire platform. Then again, choosing a smaller, stealthier boat for covert insertion and extraction had its own merits, too.

You opt to take one of the smaller, sleeker boats that Braga had available. Actually, it was less a boat and more just a glorified raft, but it was low profile and didn't make much noise. Perfect for getting in to a place silently.

You and HK motor down the river, the sky still a dark orange from all the flames and smoke from the nearby villages. Gunfire and explosions could still be heard, a constant noise in the background that replaced the local wildlife.

You and HK remained silent. You casually palm the radio in your hand. Braga had given you his frequency to call for backup if needed, but hopefully you wouldn't have to resort to that.

You handle the driving while HK stand watch, scanning the river carefully.

Fortunately, you don't encounter any enemies or obstacles on the river, and the entire trip is uneventful. Finally, HK raises a fist, signalling you stop and you cut engine power. The engine goes silent, leaving only the rushing water and roaring fires to fill the silence.

"We're near the target area." HK reports. "My motion tracker is detecting large clusters of contacts."

Indeed, your biosensor is going off as well. Lots of closely gathered organic signatures. It was definitely a populated area.

"What's our approach?" HK asks, her rifle at the ready.

Well, you could make landfall here and go the rest of the way on foot. Keep the boat out of their sight but would make it hard to return to if retreat became necessary. You could try silently sneaking the boat directly up to the camp for easier access, but exposing it to potential danger.

And there was the third option of going in via swimming. The stealthiest but most uncertain option. Who knows what's in that water?

You hear a rustling in the trees, and HK immediately stops and pushes you back just as a massive snake emerges from brush, fangs bared. HK is just barely able to roll out of the way, while her shove puts you clear of the giant snake's strike.

Of course, a Gigant-class BOW. Basically a supersized, super aggressive animal. One of the least imaginative, but no less deadly BOW type.

Immediately, your biosensor goes off as the readings scatter, many heading for the river.

"It looks like they're trying to escape." HK grunts as she gets back to her feet. "Recommendation. I'll distract the BOW while you pursue the hostiles."

Meanwhile the snake recovers from its strike and rears back up, its eyes glaring as if trying to guess your next move.

"All right, I'll leave it to you, HK." You nod to her.

"Affirmative. Laying down suppressing fire." HK says as she swivels to the snake with inhuman speed and starts unloading her rifle into it. The snake hisses loudly and lunges forward to strike, which HK is able to dodge roll out of the way.

This gives you the opening you need to sprint past the snake. Packing a BOW like that, it mean whoever this group was, they weren't your regular band of jungle rebels. These guys had serious cash to spend, or at the very least had a benefactor who did.

You key your radio to Braga's frequency. Things were getting loud and you needed serious firepower.

"Braga! Braga! This place is crawling! We need big guns here!"

"I read you, Hunter. What do you need?" Braga asks. "We can wipe that entire camp off the face of the map."

The hostiles were already starting to scatter. If you wanted to guarantee none of them escape, you needed something that could get here fast an hit a wide area like an airstrike. But that also could be a hazard to you, and it certainly would destroy whatever was in the camp.

Or, you could call in for more traditional reinforcements, but they'd take longer to arrive. It would give you an opportunity to recover evidence, though.

Behind you, you could still hear continuous fire from HK's weapon. That at least meant she was still alive... or operational... or whatever the hell was the right term to describe it.

"We need some reinforcements! These aren't any regular jungle rebels!" You bark.

"Roger that. I have helicopters ten minutes out. Hold on until then." Braga responds.

At this point, you manage to reach the edge of the treeline to the logging camp, where you see the entire area is now a flurry of activity. Your eyes and biosensor immediately cue you to three points of interest.

Off to your left, you could see numerous contacts clustering into a vehicle. Some kind of van or bus, no doubt to evacuate their VIPs and critical personnel. Directly ahead, you caught sight of a large bonefire, and a group of masked men hurriedly throwing files and hard drives into it. Destroying evidence, obviously.

And finally, to your right, you saw a third group of masked men rolling bright blue barrels into the river, with one of them attempting to hack them open with a machete. They weren't trying to just get rid of the barrels, but dump their contacts into the water. Whether that was the destroy more evidence or a deliberate move to contaminate the river, you weren't sure.

You quickly snap your aim at the fleeing hostile and drill a single three round burst into his back, swiftly toppling him.

However, as you try to snap back to the second hostile, you see him draw FOUR pistols and he starts firing wildly, sending a wall of bullets your way as he charges. You can hear several rounds whizz by, and at least one bites into your body armor. Thank god these were just handgun rounds but all it takes is an unlucky hit...

How close are we to machete guy's machete? Could we try to disarm or distract this guy by throwing it at his arms?

You quickly dive to the side behind a pile of crates and fire a quick, unaimed burst at your opponent. You don't manage to hit him, but you do manage to interrupt his momentum and force him to take cover behind a pile of the barrels, essentially putting the both of you in a stalemate. The natural and easy way to resolve this was to just flush him out of his cover with a grenade, but... well... you weren't sure just how volatile or toxic the stuff in the barrels was. Could be harmless, could be literal napalm.

"HK, you still alive out there?" You asks, peeking around the crates, and catching sight of your opponent doing the same.

"Still operational." HK reports over a loud hissing in the background. "This BOW is proving... troublesome to neutralize."

Sounds like she was still busy.

Meanwhile, you swear you can hear the distant thwumping of helicopter rotors...

"All right motherfucker let's dance, then." You mutter to yourself as you slap a fresh magazine into your rifle and break cover, firing periodic bursts to keep your opponent suppressed. All you needed to do was get close enough...

Your suppressing fire does its job, keeping your opponent hunkered down behind his cover. He doesn't even dare peek out so he doesn't even see you rapidly approaching. Rather than run around the pile of barrels, you simply just run up and over the pile, getting a line of sight directly down on the hostile.

Well, he may have four arms, but he still only had one head as you aim your gun right at it.

You pull the trigger and that's that. No need to complicate things.

And it's that moment a fleet of helicopters arrive, swooping over the trees and firing rockets and machine guns into the camp. Rockets explode and bullets scythe through trees and buildings as the straggling rebels are blown apart or cut down. Thankfully, they seem to recognize you as you are spared the rain of hell from above. Some of the helicopters orbit around the area to search for more targets while others begin to land, disgorging troops in full biohazard gear. Their movements were clunky and awkward in the heavy gear, but at least it would keep them safe from any potential bioweapon threats. One of them, much larger than the others, walks up to you and you take a guess that it's Braga.

"Good job, Hunter." Braga's muffled voice says. "We can take things from here."

"No problem" You nod. "I couldn't get all of them, but I did stop them fro dumping this shit into the river, whatever it is."

"I'll make sure it's taken to the proper authorities." Braga assures you.

>I'll leave you to it, then.
>I'd like to take a sample myself, if you'll allow.

So next dilemma we’re gonna be facing is whether we keep securing the barrels or get HK out of a pickle?
>>

>I'll leave you to it, then.

>>2967443
its obvious we go help HK first.

Hmm... this seems shady as fuck. But they are our clients and we don’t want to alienate them.

I suggest playing nice for now and looking for HK, and maybe snag a piece of evidence when nobody’s looking. Her sensor readings will come in handy as well.

"I'll leave you to it, then." You sigh. Already, you could see Braga's men pushing into the ruins of the camp, while others were all surrounding the discarded barrels, staring at them as if they were trying to figure out what to do with the damn things. You really, REALLY hope they didn't fuck something up.

You then hear Braga curse something in his native language and you spin around to see HK emerging from the forest.

With a giant snake fang jutting out from her left shoulder. Your best guess was that snake managed to actually get a bite in, and HK just straight up broke the fang off.

"The BOW has been neutralized." HK reports, saluting with her undamaged right arm. "Unfortunately, I suffered some minor damage in the process. I apologize for misjudging my timing."

"N-no, it's all right. You're still operational." You Assure her.

"S-she's a robot?!" Braga sputters.

"Oh right, guess we forgot to mention that." You nod. "Yeah, she's pretty much a robot. Don't think about it to hard."

"I think I will go oversee the cleanup..." Braga quickly spins on his heel and marches off into the camp.

"The Boss and Nemo are gonna yell at me again..." You groan.

"This damage was my own fault. I will make sure to tell them that." HK responds.

"Let's hope that works." You sigh. "Come on, let's get out of here."

"Affirmative." HK nods and pauses. "Lewis... was I useful to you?"

"Huh?" You pause. "Say again?"

"Was I useful to you today?" HK asks again.

"Of course you were." You nod. "You took out that BOW by yourself, right? That's pretty badass of you."

"Affirmative." HK nods.

You could almost swear you saw her smile for a second there.

Probably just your imagination.

Now you just had to survive the trip back home. You dreaded what kind of ultra budget return flight the Boss arranged for you...

At this rate, we're going to need an armour upgrade for HK if she continues to get damaged like this, not to mention armour mods for ourselves.

Actually, piranhas are pretty much no danger to a human unless they've been starved for an extended period.
They're omnivores, and generally prefer insects to meat.
>>
>>2967832
I think he meant mutated as in Larger and hungrier. There's fish that swim up any and all streams of urine as well. Generally there's things that are dangerous even without mutagens in play.

I'm also open to general shapeshifting due to the sheer utility of the power. Although it would probably pale in comparison to Carol's version in terms of durability, time limit, strength, or if it's limited to any small portion of the body at any given time.
>>
>>2968318
I'm still thinking some sort of symbiotic bio-armor.
Agent Venom was my fucking jam and I'm still mad they killed Flash.

>Meanwhile, at Antago-Co...

“Someone get me information about what’s happened with Project Catheter! I’ve been getting calls from the Brazilian PM about those damn dick-fish taking over fishermen and tribesmen, and yet nobody’s gotten the rap yet?!”
“That’s the thing, sir! Project Catheter was developed to take over the minds of it’s victims using psionic powers we developed. They must have influenced some of the staff to smuggle them out in their urethra and escaped back to Brazil to spawn. These are the second generation!”
“So you’re telling me all those rebels must have gotten a second gen psionic Candiru up their johnsons at some point...”
“And they seem to be trying to make a hive mind, sir, judging by how their brainwaves seem to be so similar in such a short amount of time...”
“Psionic dick fishes taking over men via their jimmies and mind linking them together to overthrow South America... (removes sunglasses) Mah god...”

I’m sorry for writing this nonsense. Forgive me.

>Implying we're not in a setting where fish can now invade our urethras via urine due to mega corps putting chems and gene goop in the water that can also turn the friggin frogs gay.
>>
>>2969104
If the urethra fish evolved from the stuff that turned the frogs gay, would the fish turn us gay? Wait, then we might pass the fish into other men through sex. Is this the gay's plan?
>>
>>2968785

I'm pretty sure Carol could teach us some cool tricks with shapeshifting, though probably not stuff that is Forbidden Knowledge for anything regarding her past exploits.
>>
>>2969654
But a symbiote could do all that cool shit, without painting a target on our own back.

"In epidemiology, an infection is said to be endemic in a population when that infection is constantly maintained at a baseline level in a geographic area without external inputs" (Wikipedia)
So third world countries constantly have highly infectious zombies shambling around?
