>New Recap
2031

Entering into the new millennium, and going to even 2008, we thought the world was a specific way. The US was a global superpower, Russia was a failing nation, Eastern Europe was going to join the EU and NATO, everything was increasingly made in China, and China was spending more and more on the PLA every single year.

The first sign people's assumptions were wrong, was when Pretashinko was elected into office in Russia, back in 2000. By 2008, "Peace in Africa" had established new regimes in country after country in Central and South Africa, all allies of Russia and all with military advisors from Russia. The KNG (Confederation of Independent States) rose from economic alliances that existed before, to bring in Baltic nations.

In 2008, the American Housing Crisis happened, and it turned out that the EU was more exposed to the crisis than even Americans were. Within years, Greece was in turmoil, Germany was shattering into pieces, and the Southern Europe had a massive rise in Corporate Fascism. China faced a second Tiananmen Square Massacre, and after that the powerbrokers of the Peoples Republic of China turned on each other and struggled for power.

-

In 2030, NATO and the EU were dead. Eastern Europe joined the KNG, North America was in the "North American Union", China was carved into 4 weak nations, and the world was unrecognizable.

The first 'Advising Reading And Suggesting Interface' (ARASI) was built, sometime before or during 2030. A small, underpowered version was smuggled into Germany and decided who would unite Germany into one Democratic Federal Republic of Germany. The same system was smuggled into Paris during the 4 way civil-war that broke out, and decided who would form the new Fifth French Republic.

Nuclear Weapons are almost obsolete and the SDI systems that can shoot them down, are almost fully online. Nothing is safe from an ARASI, the ARASI sees much, reads much, and multiplies the intelligence and command ability of anyone who uses it. It takes smart civilians and makes them into generals, it takes generals and makes them into conquerors, and takes conquerors and makes them into men that could grind Napoleon, Alexander, or Julius into dust.

No more wondering where your forces are deployed, no more wondering where the enemy is, no more wondering what your forces see, no more hoping your orders or transmissions are not intercepted. In fact, you are breaking into the enemies communications, assuming your system has enough processing power.
-
In a world carved up into spheres of power and ideology, the ARASIs will decide who gets to prevail and write history, and who is lined up before a wall to be executed.
>>
>European "Allies"
Remember the French Revolution? The first one? Okay, there was a second one, and this one went a lot better. All those problems that were revealed when the Eurozone collapse did not go away. Last year there was a unification war for Germany and a civil-war for France. Eurozone people were gone 20 years ago, and now the nationalists/imperialists are gone too. It's all "Traffic Light Coalitions", Germany on the Third Republic, France on it's Sixth... Socialists (Red), Greens, Classical Liberalism (Yellow). Vive la révolution.
-
Mobility: The Allies are the most mobile of the major alliances so far. They have access to technology, like new body armor materials, that allows them to be the most agile and maneuverable.
Sword and Shield: So the French still do that thing where they run away... but then they countercharge...Or you get killed by partisans.... It's all a trick...
Blue Cross: The Allies have access to the best medicine research. They heal quickly, get injured less often, and perform better while hurt.

>The North American Union
This is the hardest alliance to describe. Canada is just really boring, Mexico still has a socialist, and the United States.... Has a "Left-Right Coalition". It's even crazier than what Europe is doing. Social Democrats, "Welfare Nationalists", "Moderates" (Sell-Outs who saw the writing on the wall), and "Right Wing Populists". All the Intelligence Branches were replaced, after the previous leaders were accused of "messing with the democratic process". Oh and the War on Drugs is over... Cartels are pissed.
-
Cybernetics: The NAU has such a "leg-up" on cybernetics, that you can get a brand-new cyber-limb that "roid-rage" strong and almost entirely passing as natural. Even feels good when a stripper touches it. All you have to do is reenlist or cough up 50,000 American Dollars (And have a limb blown off, not fun).
Drones/Aircraft: The NAU has the largest and best air-forces, drone fleets in the world. You really do not want a laser-designator to be pointed at you.
Volunteers: The NAU doesn't use any levies or conscription.
>>
>>5644437
>East European KNG
It translates to something like "Confederation of Independent States", but we all just call it "The KNG". Basically, Eastern Europe made it's own NATO, to protect themselves from Communism. Really. There was many years of fighting before the Ultra-Nationalists and what not were "put down". Pretashinko has stepped down in Russia after 16 years in politics, but his party is still top dog in Russia. His people have compromised with the "petty bourgeois" and the major weapons, energy, financial firms. It's another weird combination, but they all agree that "peace and stability" allows them all to "build a better future".
-
Inheritors of Rome: The KNG are masters at repairing and building fortifications. They dig in very quickly and very well, even their tanks can use trenches.
Beans and Bullets: The KNG has the most functional logistics system, supply chain, and command structure. They make everything in huge factories that have been humming along for years now and they have incredibly deep stockpiles of equipment.
Strategic Flexibility: It turns out that the old Soviet system of conscripts, who are told to not think for themselves, has it's upsides. The ARASI allows senior commanders to organize such large numbers of troops and provide them direct instruction, while reacting to their feedback and situation. If the tactical aspect is not flexible, it means the strategic aspect can be.

What were the factions in the French civil war
>>
>>5645248
X tries to remember the events of the French Civil War. Currently, they are in an encrypted dead zone, so they have to go off memory and whatever was written down in their trailer, or was remembered by others around them

There was believed to be four different factions: The Regime, Corporatists, Anarcho-capitalists, and KNG backed liberals and socialists.

Some American somehow got leadership over the ACs and managed to foolishly, get so many of them wrecked, that their paramilitary forces dissolved. This had strong ramifications for politics afterward.
>>
Let's open things up a bit.
>Most by next update, which is 48 hours after the third post.

Which of the following do you want your character to be best at?

>Analyst
This type of person is best at knowing, detecting and figuring out information. It is possible for them to be uncharismatic and still do their job, but they can't be stupid or a fool.

>Political Actor
This type of person is best at "reading the room" and "winning people over". It is possible for them to be a bit of an idiot and still do their job, but they can't be a fool and thus unable to read people.

>Commander
This type of character is best at understanding tactics and strategy. They might specialize at Charisma or yelling at people, or they might just be an unlikable military genius. Hopefully their subordinates are trustworthy and alert enough if the leader is a fool, but he certainly can't be an idiot.

If NAU wins, the option for "Technician" opens up. This character is like the Analyst but with less focus on reading people and more focus on using advanced technology or fixing equipment.

If KNG wins, the option for "Smuggler" opens up. This type of character is like the Political Actor, only they are slightly better at combat and a lot more flexible. They certainly are better at lying and hiding things. Being a Smuggler comes with connections to both the legal and extra-legal realms of the Second and Third Worlds, along with access to personal resources.

Fun fact, last time we had someone play the NAU, they did really well and they led Canadians. Granted, that person submitted their actions via discord, but they were very talented. Certainly seemed to be crushing the opposing players and really stabilizing West Africa.

(Insert Callsign here), was in his late 20s. He had spent a good chunk of his adult life trying to decide if he was an Analyst, a Capitalist or Businessman or Smuggler... or something else. He has a Master's Degree, with a Dual Major in Business and Geopolitics. He is an attractive and handsome man, with lots of experience and practice with public speaking. He speaks Russian, Interslavic, English and (Motherland Language, vote on it, Eastern European or Baltic).

In order to be a Slav or Eastern European, and have the kind of knowledge of the criminal underworld that (Insert Callsign here) has, you eventually would have to become an ally or associate of one of the two most powerful people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Legal Path, The State, The TZAR, "Pretashinko"
"Pretashinko" used to be a Detektiv during the "Dirty 90s". Over the years, using skills that you yourself also possess, he worked his way up the chain of command and managed to avoid getting killed or investigated. He eventually went into politics and through natural charisma, became elected President. He spent 16 years as either President or Prime Minister, but has retired as the leader of a massive political movement.

He has connections all over Moscow, the military, the political elite, and even retired or semi-illegal contacts that were former informants.

Extralegal Path, The Underworld, Nikita
Nikita is a byproduct of a Russian enclave in Asia that only valued violence and projected style. It is generally assumed that it took excessive amounts of both to allow her to rise to her current position. With the massive crackdowns on corruption and the Bratva (Russian Mafia), about half or less of the Criminal Underworld was able to survive by agreeing to work with The State.

Despite rapping about a large portion of her illegal activities, Nikita has never been arrested, partially because she raps about events where the "Statute of limitations" has "run out".

The T-90A and it's T-84 counterparts, have protection matching the M1A2 and the Leopard 2A5. Most versions recently upgraded have “Relict” ERA, with older versions having “Shtora-1” laser-dazzlers.

All models are fitted with GLONASS satellite navigation systems, and are interlinked with ALISA battlefield networking system.

Callsign Ghostfrog is a reasonably attractive Estonian man, who has light brown hair and green eyes. He has a Master's degree from the University of Tartu, the most prestigious university of his nation. His mother-tongue is Estonian, but he can understand some Finnish. His second language was Russian, his third was English, and he learned Interslavic last. Because he is Estonian, he had to take a First Aid course in order to legally obtain his firearms, and as such he gets a +1 to Medicine (But only for treating gunshots, stabs, and blunt damage).

He has card for a shooting club and permit to carry a concealed H&K USP in 9mm. Ghostfrog's USP was sold out from what remained of Germany, during the Eurozone Collapse. His holdout pistol is a copy of a Makarov, and it's only able to fire rubber "traumatic" bullets. He has a CZ Scorpion in his vehicle somewhere, and he has the parts to convert it to automatic hidden throughout his truck.

Ghostfrog is a most important supplier for discounted, rare, and quasi-illegal goods to the various mayors and politicians of his country. He doesn't run the trades, he has someone else do that for him, but the process requires his network of contacts and his assets.

At the moment, almost all of the military, paramilitary, and private military resources of Europe and North America are completely tied up in two separate wars. It is exceedingly hard to get weapons in these areas, as they are more a customer, than a supplier. There are ammunition shortages and rationing of many goods vital to the "War Effort".

In desperate times like this, it is a good thing to the Nikita's contact for Estonia, the gateway in and out of the country. Being this kind of contact means that he has access to her at times, and it means that when things get serious or confusing, she is eager to contact him.

E-E-Extra Crit!, Source Rumors

Nikita is indeed a 30 something woman, and a striking example of one in fact. This not the first or second time that Ghostfrog had met her, and yet she's just as enchanting in person as she is in the airbrushed photos and altered rap videos. Her makeup has this aura of danger and eroticism to it. She has a set of heeled combat boots resting on her desk and she is reclined back, with her arms behind her head in a relaxed position. Thankfully or not, from this angle it's impossible to look down her shirt. The fact that she's wearing camo'ed cargo pants with lots of pockets means she's not deliberately trying to seduce him, but it also certainly means she has multiple guns on her. Her iconic automatic AA-12 shotgun with drum magazine is likely under her desk as well.

"Ghostfrog.... It is good to see you." Her smirk is coy and seductive, and Ghostfrog likely failed some degree of a resistance against being at least the tiniest bit Charmed. Her eyes flick downward, hopefully just at his chest, before she returns to eye contact.

"But we're here for business', not pleasure..." She sighs out and rolls her eyes, before looking up at the ceiling.

"Instead of the little wars and struggles that we can make money on, there is a series of big wars, that suck everything into them, including all the profit. Contacts are getting drafted and resources are getting nationalized.... And we all know know when the war is over, there is going to be a global Recession...and during the war a sizable amount of the global economy will be kaboom... I need large supplies of capital and hard currency, so I can ride out what is going to happen....and even better... buy out some of the competition when they are in the poor house...."

She crosses her arms in such a way that they push up into her bosom... Okay, either she does this as a force of habit, or this is deliberate... It has to be....

"I need to make my money move... And turn it into more money...and quickly......."

She looks right at Ghostfrog.

"I can bring you in on commission.... I have factories in Africa that can produce third world, maybe second world level military equipment. You can try finding markets in Eastern Europe, the scrappy scrambling for weapons Western Europe, or try finding markets with various paramilitaries on both sides in Latin America... There is also the possibility of networking with militias and my contractors to win a contract in West Africa, or "liberate" some valuable resources from a warlord, dictator, or terrorist group....That second option has more risk, but the possibility of more profit... Finally... You could try going into the Shanghai Corporate Zone and shaking loose major ordinance."

>Time to Vote! Best in 24 hours or first to 3!

Ghostfrog needs to make a decision.

>1. Going to the factories in Africa and trying to find customers in one of the places she listed.
Least amount of reward and risk.

>2. Partner with contractors, militia, and her suppliers to try and win a military contract or "liberate" valuable resources or capital.
Middle reward and risk

>3. Try sneaking into the Shanghai Corporate Zone with some capital and see if you can get out with tons of weapons and military assets.
Maximum reward and risk

S-S-Second V-V-Vote!

Ghostfrog has the following options.

Do nothing

Exploit his good feeling tonight and try to seduce her.
Granted, he's feeling pretty handsome and charming tonight. However, he's not doing so well seeing past her....whatever it is... Maybe she's being more charming than he is? He has to factor in that they both have the ability to seduce and both have the ability to resist seduction. If he tries, maybe she'll win?
If you pick this, the "Appealing" feat with it's associated bonuses is locked in for his backstory and character stats.

Drink at least two or three shots of vodka, try to haggle a better commission.
There is a chance she endures the drinking better than him.

Any successful results result in XP, and any of the extra voting options if successful result in a better payout. Seducing results in the best payout.

Vastly Exceed her Insight Roll.
Moderately exceed her own counter seduction roll.

Ghostfrog leaves the location, which thankfully didn't have cameras, before she wakes up. He keeps a disguise in his car, but he had brought it in and hid it inside a dufflebag right outside the room that the encounter happened. This was all well and good, and he was pleased with himself for taking preparations. He wasn't entirely sure if he was going to "pull the trigger" on her or not, but he had made the decision while there with her. Perhaps she had tempted him to favor such an option, or maybe he was just in the mood. Ghostfrog wasn't entirely certain.

I have no idea how I am going to recover this outfit. That was indeed a problem. Some of the buttons came flying off his buttoned up shirt, there was stains and damage done to the pants. Perhaps he should keep the evidence? Perhaps he should burn it?

As he ripped open a packet of baby wipes and tried to clean himself up a little, something occurred to her. Shit...Did I just shit where I eat? Is she going to be pleased with me for seducing her, or pissed at the loss of control? I need to fucking get out of here, now.

As Ghostfrog drove away, he tried to remember what even happened, there was just this flurry of; trying to think in the moment and improvise... or was it passion? Foolishness? He was pretty sure that at some point she was riding him, and at some other point he had her bent over her own desk. His heart was still racing, blood flowing through his veins and arteries, and his thoughts made it hard to concentrate. There had just been an incredible trill to it all...and.. he had this general feeling like it was the best sex of his life, or at least the most exciting. As foolish as it was, he felt a few inches taller, and he was proud that he had been one of the few to sleep with her. It did feel like a "feather in his cap".

Ghostfrog blinked his eyes a few times, glad that the earplugs and noise-cancelling headset over them, had allowed him to sleep a few hours on this sketchy, shaky excuse of an AN-12. The factories in Uganda and Rwanda had indeed been there, and they had indeed been working well. The helmets that rolled off the assembly line were of reasonable enough quality. He had taken an example off the end and taken it somewhere proper, to shoot it himself. The 9mm round from the Scorpion was stopped, as was the next and the next. A round fired from a 7.62x25mm Tokarov was also stopped. The inner shell of laminated aramid had just barely stopped the round, and without too much serious backface deformation. It was wise to make this cheap steel helmet a bit too big and then fit an inner shell with aramid fiber, it made the difference.

"Let's say we recover the mine..... What's the contract for?"

Ghostfrog looked over at some local African man, who was pulling out his earplugs.

"That region of artisanal gold mines, puts out tens of millions of the American dollars. You get a quarter of what is mined in a year."

That's assuming he could get control over that much area, and control could be retained for a year, and that the mines or workers weren't destroyed in the process. That was also assuming that the labor source wasn't something Ghostfrog was uncomfortable with being connected to. The DRC was split into four different factions by a peace mandate, over two decades ago. They all wore Russian/Soviet camo and identified each other with their arm bands. The average soldier often had a "Chi-Com" chest rig and four or five heavy steel AKM Kalashnikov magazines, and a matching Kalashnikov that was over a decade or four old. KNG "Hunter Killer" battalions were busy fighting the Greeks or Italians, and so they couldn't be here to set things right. There was no way that local forces would likely stand much of a chance against "Hyena", a brutal warlord rumored to be located in the area, part of the Global Insurgency Network. Americans called the GIN "Super Boko Haram" or "ISIS on Steroids, but in Africa", or even "Super African ISIS".

Normally the GIN was very Islamic, hence all the nicknames. However, the "Cell" in this area was very spiritualist, and "Hyena" was said to be one of those people who believed that eating exotic animals or people gave your magical powers. His forces were said to be hopped up on drugs, fanatism, and Satan himself. The general assumption was that GIN Jihadists had almost unbreakable morale, and the fanatics of this area didn't seem much different. There would be landmines, booby traps, and possibly even a few suicide bombers. That wasn't counting a possible matchet charge that would give the Japanese Banzai charges a run for their money.
>>
Btw, this is another thing to vote for, does Ghostfrog chew gum or does he smoke or chew tobacco?
>>5648879
"So explain to me what exactly is the quality of possible forces for this area. Hostile, possible recruits, mercs... The businesses."

"To start, there is Armed Civilians and Raw forces, these have little to no training. Maybe few days training at most." D6

"Next there is the people who actually have training, at least two months of it, to the standards of the Europeans during the Second World War. This can also be the reasonably trained militia groups that have decent training conditions. You can call them Trained for short, I just call them Green." D8

"Finally, there are Bloodied Forces, Europeans, and African Veterans. These are your more experienced local soldiers, your competent combat regulars, and your hardened rebels. Where we are from, they are Conscripts, and so I call them Inexperienced." D10

"And I am to presume we can't get anyone better from the North Hemisphere or India?' Ghostfrog raised an eyebrow.

The Bulgarian shook his head. "This conflict is questionable enough as is, Indians are sitting this one out."

-
"Besides apperances, are there any mechanical, statistical differences between a... You said "Green", between a "Green" infantryman and a "Green" militiaman?'

The Bulgarian did some thinking and moved his eyes around, rubbing at his chin, before raising a finger. "Generally, all infantry that are not Naval Infantry or something like that, are better at attaching than defending, unless they are dug in or using cover... of course. The infantryman has the same potential for suckage or greatness, but generally is on average a little better."
Militiaman attack/defense +3/2, Infantryman +4/3

-
"I've heard that artillery does all the killing, or machine guns, but does the quality of the small arms have an effect at warfare on this level, this scale?"'

"That rattling, worn down weapons of four decades ago, that have seen a war or two, will drag down their firepower in a noticeable way. So will be undersupplied and thus putting out noticeably less fire down range. On the other hand, having weapons that are brand new copies of polymer, high quality Kalashes, or having tall stockpiles of ammunition will have the opposite effect. It's too bad that we don't have the brand new rifles coming out of Africa, but maybe we can get some out of India." -2 Attack or +2 Attack for quality of Small Arms, D8 to D6 if undersupplied, D8 to D10 is oversupplied.

*Veteran Infantry or Bushfighters, are by default, Mercenaries of Watu Walioshinda (Wa-Two Wally-Wa-Sheen-Da). As East Africans trained by KNG advisors, and supplied by East African factories built to KNG standard, they have all the abilities of KNG troops of their training level. By default your HQ, when you set it up, will be average supply and you have access to a FOB to make it extra supplied. WW's entrench quickly and well, and with more experience, they can upgrade to "Guards" which fight extra well, when dug in. WW's by default also have GPS tracking PDAs on them, so it's easy to keep track of where they are.

Ghostfrog apparently is going to get a better payout, if this goes well. Her lipstick was a total Cyka to get out of his collar through...

>1. Use part of the final payment as a cash advance to finance better or more troops, along with more equipment. This should be able to get him 5 more points, at the cost of using up the extra money he would've gotten from seducing her.

>2. Dip into his own reserves. He can maybe scrape together another 4 points that way.

>3. Might as well do both, get 10 more points.

>4. Fuck... No... Do neither.

Do I choose bushfigters and get them or does buying 1 equal 1 unit. E.g buying 6 bushfigters cost 30 total. Will take a crack at it later.

I don't think that adds up to 30.

I only see Militia as locked into Civilians or less. Implying rules will cause issues.
So i can just bump the infantry up to trained to hit 30?

That would be
8 for the militia
14 for the infantry
14 for the Bush Fighters
Respectfully
Which means you have 4 points left.

Ghostfrog looked over at the hundred WW contractors sitting inside this repaired and maintained relic of the past. They were a mixture of Ugandans, Rwandans, and Kenyans, and even a few desperate men from Zimbabwe. They had black polymer Kalashnikovs with folding stocks and rails that wouldn't hold zero, but the sights worked just fine and the furniture would hold up. They had 6B5-15 Vests, a design of nylon and cotton that was over 40 years old, but it held up well and it would do the job. They were weighed down by 9 kilos of stacked 4.3mm Iron plates and 1.25mm Titanium plates in the front, and the same in the back, it would be enough to stop one or more AK bullets. If there was a fight with someone equipped with a western weapon, it would be a different story. Paying the wages and equipment of a hundred men and flying them in, wasn't cheap.

When they landed, they would be greeted by two whole companies, 200 Congolese infantry from the local quarter of what had been the DRC. In the surrounding areas would be another four companies of militia from the region, some from the various other bits and pieces of the DRC, some from the Central African Republic, some from South Sudan. The local soldiers had been paid off to help and given new rifles to keep, if they would stand true and not be little cykas.

However, Ghostfrog began to realize that he was in a bit of a predicament. He had very limited knowledge about warfare, and with this many fighters, combat would be more a game of strategy than tactics. Even with knowledge where the WW company was, he would have to call up or use the radio to know about the other companies. There would be frantic tapping away at a tablet or moving pieces around on a map. On the other hand, every single Company Command Officer spoke English and reasonably well too. Ghostfrog was a strange foreign man, handsome by the standards of Westerners, who spoke well and could hopefully have presentation. If he gave off the impression of being very brave or a genius, perhaps it could motivate the men and keep them in something resembling military order.

He would have to make two very important decisions. First, he would have to decide where the HQ would be built or setup so the men could rest if need be, organize if need be, and give him a location to keep track of everything from. It would also be a place to have the supplies stored.

Time to VOTE! First to 3 or most in 22~ hours!

>1. Put the HQ right next to the dusty, improvised landing field that you used! It provides absolutely no protection, but puts you as close to where a plane can land to resupply you.

>2. Use the local tightly packed village as the location of the HQ. The area is already Fortified and this adds +3 Defense to any Company located there, and it can be fortified further. However, if the site gets attacked and damaged, that could be bad. At the very least, you are pretty sure one of the friendly Militia Companies is drawing some recruits from this village.

OTHER VOTE!

>A. Dip into the closet or supply of outfits, and dress like a 90s Trenchcoat wearing Slavic arms smuggler, with matching shades, fake cigars, and business suit.

>B. Wear camouflage uniform and a helmet or beret, insist people salute you, and walk around with a very stiff posture. Try to be as much like you remember the drill seersant or kapitan's back home being, as you can.

As the company of Bushfighters from WW started to dig, fill sandbags, stack, and hammer things into place; Ghostfrog changed into his new outfit on the parked plane. He stepped out in his trenchcoat and looked around through his shades, with a fake cigar (With realistic smoke!) hanging out of his mouth. He felt good in his business' suit totting around his Scorpion SMG on a sling, with a pistol on his hip. Based on the simple map he had, there was a series of fields nearby the village and airfield, where two of the ARmy units would be stationed nearby to assist him. There was the airfield and village, than there was a large Bridge across a hostile river, and then large open areas leading to the mines of Gold.

Ghostfighter only had the most basic military training and experience, but he did know that he would have to have an unbroken line between his HQ and the supplies there, along with all of his forces. He knew that the bridge was large and it was a narrow path that only one unit at a time could move across. He also knew that units could not provide suppressive fire or long range fire at targets on the opposite side of the bridge. However, if he controlled both halves, the units on both halves would be able to fire at the areas right up against the bridge, on either side.

There currently was no way of knowing if the enemy was on both sides of the bridge or not, and if they were emplaced in all areas on the other side of the bridge. At the same time, each unit took up a whole point of interest... like the Village or Airfield.... Hmm

Andddd, he wasn't the slightest bit sure if his outfit had any effect at all. It didn't result in anything going wrong, but it also didn't seem to do anything either. As he walked from the airfield to the area that was being fortified and repurposed in the village, he could see in the distance that two of the fields had the two companies of local infantry in them. When he sat down in a room with the map and the radio in his hand, he squeezed down the button.

"This is Ghostfrog, I want to talk to the leader of the company that is closer towards the river.

"That would be I. Are you the guy who sent the money and guns? What can we do for you?"

"Da,Yes. I am assuming command. On the radio, you will be referred to as 'Ghost Frog 2'."

"I can live with that.

"The other company further away from the river. Are you there

"Am I going to be Ghost Frog 1 or 3?"

"You are Ghost Frog 3."

"I can see that."

Ghostfrog looked over at the PDA he had in his pocket and saw the positions of all the squads for the WW company, there was about 12 of them or so.

Ghostfrog sat inside his tent and looked down at his map, thinking to himself. He pulled out some pocket change and placed it over various areas, to help him keep track of who was who he cut out small bits of paper and taped them to the coins. The bits of paper were color coated or marked with little numbers or letters.

He had heard someone tell him that he had three units to command... So perhaps he should only command three units for now and then wait?

Meanwhile in the Village

"Does anyone know why we've been completely ignored."

"Did he even bother to name us?"

"I think we're Ghostfrog 1 or something."

The platoon leaders (30 men) of the WW company were talking on the radio, using their command channel. Some guy in a uniform ran outside of a tent and was looking around for something, before finding a motorcycle. One of the squad leaders saw this and asked what he was doing.

"Huff huff... The Captain told me that Ghostfrog wants to move two of the militia companies onto the bridge. The issue is that we're not able to reach them by phone right now."

There was chatter later on between the platoon leaders.

"He's keeping us, the Bushfighters... Out of the Bush?"

"Did we or him get intel that the HQ or this village was going to be attacked?"

"I didn't hear any such thing."

"Well.... There is no way to know if the enemy is on both sides of the river or not. The villages the militia are from, are on both sides of the river."

Among Ghostfrog 2

"Maker Above, I am so tired of walking."

"You get issued 7 good quality plastic magazines in nice brown colors, a brand new AK, a new chest rig, and you're still complaining."

"All this ammunition is heavy. I heard the American guns have really light ammo and magazines."

"Yeah, and they have bulletproof vest that weights as much as three babies, and they're carrying big belt of Rambo ammo"

The other soldier let out an exasperated sigh. He unbuckled the straps on his helmet, they seemed a bit uncomfortable to him, and the helmet was more weight as well. The squad leader close to him, trying to quick march, pulled out a 30 dollar "wackie-talkie" and then squeezed it down.

"Chop Man."

The person on the other end, sounded even more exasperated than the lowly grunt or ten or a hundred that was quick marching through tall grass.

"You're supposed to say who you are."

The squad leader looked over at the lowly grunt by him who had loosened his strap.

"This is uh.... I'm Joseph.

"There are ten Josephs in this area. Make up a callsign...Give me your squad number. Or I will go over there and slap your teeth out of your numbskull."

"Red Toad. I'm Red Toad. This is squad six....Do we know if the green threads inside our helmets do anything?"

"Don't fucking damage the inner fiber you numbskulls, that's a ballistic liner. It'll keep your brains inside your helmet. And tighten your straps too, keep your helmet on."

The Captain of Ghost Frog 2 seemed pretty annoyed. Red Toad looked over at the grunt by him, who was his cousin, and began screaming at him.

Moise had almost ordered his men to shoot the stranger who raced towards them on a motorcycle, but he was glad he had not done such a thing. Standing in his tunic, pants, and boots; he peered through his shades and thought for a few seconds. He knew that the local Congolese infantry were getting about twenty American Dollars a month, and this Ghostfrog guy was throwing ten more dollars on top of that.

Granted, he and the leaders had their cut, and it was good, but the average militiaman was getting five dollars. The value of the 210 rounds he was given, according to the Internet, was 55 dollars. It seemed to be worth a lot more and a lot less locally, and he was hoping they wouldn't have to shoot it all so soon. He even had dreams that they could keep some of it for years or sell it off or something.

But now they had to cover the opposite end of the bridge. They would be right behind the Army
-

Among the frontlines of Moise's militia company

Leon was glad that he had taken charcoal paste and rubbed it in lines under both his eyes, it made him feel like a warrior. However, as he walked across the damaged, aged bridge, built to Eastern European standards two decades prior, he felt completely naked and vulnerable. He was literally wearing a basketball shirt and some jeans, both of which were dumped into his country by some company called "Good Will". Moise told him that these bright colors would make him a target for the enemy, so Moise got his clan to dye the clothing as dull and earthly as they could. It mostly worked, he thought.

Leon had been drilled in a camp, and while the money was reasonable, and he was keeping fit.... He wondered if he really was taught everything he needed to know. He had only been trained eight weeks. According to the Internet, infantry training could be as long as half a year. What more was there to learn in those four months?

He peered out and perhaps in the distance, he thought he saw the Congolese Infantry.

Ghostfrog 2

As soon as they got to the other end of the bridge, they rested in positions of slight color. Lying down and trying to hope that the steel or whatever would conceal them. It was worth a try.... The platoon leaders had discussed that it was odd that they were going straight towards the Mine. It seemed pretty important, surely it was guarded...Right?

"I was told that a force about our size was on the other side of the bridge."

"You don't think they would hire all of us for no reason....Right?"

This time the company commander could hear them. He lit a cigarette and smoked it, looking down at his map, and then over where he thought the Mine was.

"Well... It's tall enough Brush, it provides some cover for us.... but..."

Ghostfrog 2

That large section of brush was most likely empty of the enemy.... The only problem was.... There was a whole field there and there on the sides....and then there was The Mine....

Chop Man turned back to look at his mostly clueless men. These men couldn't be stealthy to anything but the most clueless untrained rabble. An angry mob who had a few cups of coffee or chewed some leaf would spot them easily, even in thick brush..... Those two fields on the side.... If the enemy was somewhere on this side of the bridge.... These were vicious guerillas, trained to hide like cowards.

"Sir? Are we going to progress further?"

"We're going to provoke their fire."

One of the platoon leaders looked down at the wackie talkie in his hand and stared at it in belief. It was several seconds before any of them worked up the courage to say anything over the line.

"Come again Sir?"

"If they are located anywhere on that side of the river, we want them to start shooting at us now.... Not when we're surround on three sides."

"But what about suppressing fire from the Bridge? Will that not help?"

"Supporting fire from 200 and 400 meters, when we're about 100 meters from the enemy on three sides? We're still going to die if we don't draw their fire now."

He looked down at his packet of cigarettes. Mabolos. Wouldn't be the worst smoke to have coming out of his mouth as he let out his last breathes.

Red Toad. Red Toad. Red Toad. He was Red Toad. Red Toad was shaking and trying to make the back sight line up with the front sight. He was trying to stay close to the ground. Something was wrong about the enemy bullets, they seemed to burn as they flew through the sky. He heard a horrible sound and turned to see the head of Joel spurt out half his brains out the back of his skull. There was a horrible burning smell and some of the men started screaming, cowering.

"Fucking shoot them! They're telling us right where they are!

Red Toad, was breathing too fast, but he let out a scream and closed one of his eyes, lining it up with the sparks he saw, and he pulled the trigger again and again.

Red Toad cursed. Those who could put out as much fire as they could, and he could hear the rifle fire coming from the supporting militia, but it didn't seem to really do anything to the enemy.

Time to vote, I guess, I dunno. Sigh. First to 3 or most in 48 hours.

> 1. Have both Ghostfrog 2 and Moise's militia firing at the enemy, trading blows.

>2. Radio them both, send runners, make phone calls, whatever it takes to get them to carefully, but quickly both retreat in order off bridge onto this side.

Bonus vote, I guess, I don't know....

>A. Do you send the WW company in and station Ghostfrog 3 in the Village? Or do you sent Ghostfrog 3 forward? Neither.

>B. How much valuable energy do you devote to trying to call up the militia that might be on the other side of the bridge? A Third? None?
