After sitting and talking with WUlf for a few hours, Sansa finally seems to have the celebration prepared. You make your way over to the mess tent, where the Chefs have prepared a stew from forage taken from the forest near your fort and the salted valkerie meat left over, from what you see of the men already here, the food is good. Most of the men have water, but there is a small stack of kegs of ale, watched by several men. If no one is a pig with the alcohol, everyone should be able to have a glass or two, but not enough to become dangerously inebriated. After a few minuites Sansa seems to have rounded up a group of men, all of whom have a full glass of ale, and are listening to your aide intently. After a few minutes they break into two groups, and start playing some game that has no rhyme or reason from your perspective. Eventually one team has naught but empty glasses, and lets out a triumphant cheer, before Sansa takes them over to a cordoned off area, where she refills their glasses from a keg separate from the ones the men can access freely. She then walks over to talk with Kyria, leaving the game area empty, along with the extra kegs.

You realize Wulf has wandered off into the growing crowd under the big tent at the same moment Uurist asks you "Are ya just gonna stand there Commander, or join the celebration?"

    >sorry about the late start, life happens and such

Our goal this celebration: To charm several of our ladies into bed with us simultaneously. It will be as dangerous and difficult a campaign as we've ever fought, but with our charm, intelligence, and copious amounts of available alcohol, I believe that is within our capabilities.

After we go pull Laelith out of whatever dark reading corner she's hiding herself away in we should:
    A) Dance with her (and the others)
    B) Mingle with the enlisted, see what they think about us and the campaign.

I disagree. I think we should settle on one at a time until we've made the whole rounds and they know we're going to be romancing them all. We haven't even talked about a relationship with anyone but Jayne.

I do agree that our goal should be to coax one of them back to our tent tonight, however. Sansa or Laelith get my vote.

    >We haven't even talked about a relationship with anyone but Jayne.
I'm pretty sure stealing their clothes and feeling them up while they make military reports from our lap counts as talking about a relationship. It's a pretty fucking transparent indicator of interest.

We can start by having charming and enjoyable conversation with them, preferably all at once, and bending our social expertise towards stopping them from fighting one another while turning the conversation in entertaining ways. As the night wears on and everyone gets a little more relaxed thanks to wine and delightful conversation, we can move the party to someplace more private. Play it by ear from there, but I bet we can pull of at least two at once.

On a completely unrelated note, I was thinking that once we finish this campaign and return to the capital, we should request that the Second Praetorian allow us to search through the Legions for those that have talent for elementalism and recruit them into our maniple for training as combat elementalists where appropriate.

You'll have to point out to me where the talking is in there. Yes, we are interested in them and they us. Everyone knows that. The talking part comes into play because we have not yet set out important things like wife/concubine or declared we intend to have LASTING romantic interests with any of them except Jayne.

Hell, we haven't even told a single one of them we love them yet.

I'm pretty sure all of them know that we're not marrying any of them right now, and all of them know that we'd rather like to sleep with them for at least the duration of the campaign. What more's to know? We're not proposing lifelong bonds, we're proposing a mindblowingly hot orgy.

"Just making sure Sansa hasnt done anything foolish before I start enjoying myself. You?" you reply, walking with the dwarf to the counter the stew is being served from.

"Ah, I cant drink as much as I'd like so I thought I'd make enough of an appearance ta not insult yer girl. Though I may have to see about those drinking games she has set up." the dwarf replies, sitting down with his stew next to you. Off on the far side of the converted training yard Lena spits ale from her mouth, in distaste, before handing her tankard to Wulf, who shrugs happily before putting his arm around her shoulder and leading her over to where a few men are tuning up instruments they brought with them on campaign. Eventually the dwarf next to you burps "Good stuff, leaves you thirsty though. Care to go fill a glass with me?" he asks, rising from his seat.

Okay I think you should reevaluate the consensus reached in past threads. It has been established that we're getting into a committed relationship with all of them, possibly Nyetini, and maybe Lena depending on how it goes.

Pretty sure we're giving Lena to Wulf.

And I am aware of that consensus. I'm also aware that it's been like a year and we've done fuck-all to achieve it, so it's time to move aggressively. We can invite them into more permanent status after achieving great success in romance.

You pull out your flask "I think I'll have to do you one better before we can fill our glasses." you tell him, offering the flask.

Uurist takes a pull, and smiles almost as soon as he tastes the liquor "What did I do ta earn a pull'a the Commanders finest?" he asks you, returning the flask, which you take your own drink of before dropping the flask back into its pouch on the inside of your tunic.

"To be honest, you did quite well in subduing Gaerick, as did your men with his guard. I though some reward was in order." you reply, as the two of you finally approach the front of the shortest line to a keg. Across from you Jayne is talking animatedly with Janos and Kaitlyn, both of whom still have their hoods drawn over their heads, just in case some prisoner can see over or through the berm separating them from the field the celebration is being held on.

Once both of you have your tankards filled Uursit raises his just enough to indicate a personal toast "Heres ta you, heres ta me, if we should disagree..." the dwarf stumbles over the old drinking toast, not really able to finish it properly, as you are still his superior, "ah..." he stutters, trying to salvage the toast.

You decide to have mercy on the dwarf "Fuck you, heres ta me!" you finish the old drinking toast, aping the dwarfs accent, knocking your tankard into his in a rough toast, causing some of his ale to spill into your glass before you take your drink.

Uurist guffaws before taking his drink "Cleverly done, Commander." he compliments you, a bit of foam clinging to his mustache. "But it looks like Sansa's settin' up another game. I'll have a full glass with'ye later tonight, laddy." he promises before heading off to the corner of the mess tent set aside for the drinking games.

With a full glass you wander through the crowd outside the tent. Most of the men salute you with a smile, others offer you a toast directly, or toast you after you pass. More than a few have something they want to thank you for, mostly for some time that you saved them or a friend by your presence in the battle line. after a while you have to break away because your tankard is being re-filled for you too quickly, as some soldier takes it from you to re-fill whenever you cant join that particular group for a toast, or even if they notice it empty as you pass.

You take the opportunity to go retrieve Laelith from her tent, where she is sitting, exactly as you had expected, translating another tome taken from Finian. "Justinian, I thought we weren't to go on picnic until tomorrow." she greets you

"And you are correct." you reply, shutting the tome in front of her "But I refuse to allow you to work all night again. We are celebrating our victory, and thanks to the integral part in that you played, you have no choice but to attend" you inform her, taking her arm and dragging her as politely as possible from her work and to the celebration. By the time you reach the field she is actively walking alongside you.

No sooner than you reach the field is she whisked away from you "Laelith!!" Kyria exclaims "I was looking for you, some joker out of Cornelius' lot thinks he can outdo you with a torch and a cheap bottle of whiskey, lets go show him up!" she exclaims, punctuated by the jet of spit fire growing and dying over the top of the field. Laelith raises an eyebrow and allows the Dwarf to drag her over to the group in question.

You make your way over to where blackbird is reclined against the berm, his firstwife under one arm, a tankard of ale on the ground next to him, and a comparatively small set of pipes in his hand, which he is quietly playing an upbeat tune on. "Commander" he greets you "what brings you this far from the center of the reverie?"

"Ah, it was an excellent time, commander. My adoptive clan came together quite well, there was food aplenty, the winter days were mild, and we felt the heat of battle nearly every night to ward off the cold." "How long were you living amongst the New Clans, then?" you ask the big orc.

"Since I was a young orc, just barely mature. That is when the last of my fathers clan perished. I wandered for a time, then began protecting my simple kin. It was tiresome, but the nights were safer, and the food better. I had planned on leaving the clan now known as Sullen Mountain before long, but then they were captured." The orc informs you plainly, taking another drink from his tankard.

"I see." you reply politely, glad that for once his life had nothing to do with the cult youve been running into so often of late "Then I suppose life with my maniple has been much more, to your liking, than protecting the New Clans?" you ask him amiably.

"The fights are good and steady, my tasks are agreable, the food is nearly as good as your payment, and the work you set me too I would do but for the joy of it." her replies

"Then I suppose the prospect of our next mission is quite pleasing to you then?" you ask, rising again.

"I look forward to our arrival in uurlanth more every day." the orc replies, his content features offset by the animalistic smile he wears only when raiding or talking of battle. You look out at the celebration as you leave the Orcs, Laelith seems to have taken over the entertainment, and has a fire dancing above the crowd with the drums, horns, pipes, and any other instrument that can fit itself into the raucous running tune your men have started. Jayne is now talking with Sansa, who is admirably sober yet, and across the party Kyria seems to have a group of soldiers engrossed in some story.

I don't think concealing it is going to help anyone, and might just hurt feelings even worse than being open about it. Assuming feelings will even get hurt, that is. We've been pretty damn open about our intentions, and concubines are common knowledge and practice.

I would like to go through our legions and test everyone in them for elementalism. From what I recall, we only scanned our support staff previously, which is why we have a doctor, cook, and blacksmith as elementalists but no soldiers. We've got hundreds of men under our command- we should be able to scrape up at least another five or six guys for training in the elemental arts.

Lie back down and cuddle, it's a rest day after a hard campaign. When both of us are awake we should head and get breakfast together, then leave Laelith with a hug, kiss, and stern warning not to pack any sausages for later.

After leaving her to get that set up we should check on the preparations for the column we are sending to assist Nornz. Make sure everything is in order and kiss Kyria goodbye.

No, see we DID go through the entire maniple.

Those guys were the only ones we found who had the talent for it. That said, as I mentioned the last time it was brought up, we have reinforcements on the way. We ought to wait until the new men arrive to see if any of them may have the potential to learn elementalism. It would save us from having to do a sweep twice.

With a content sigh you settle back into your cot, a little longer abed does sound rather tempting. Laelith responds by draping an arm and a leg over you "Mmmm better." she mumbles falling back to sleep.

    -----CQ-----

Eventually you both wake up, and stay awake, its midmorning by the time that happens however. "So, what will you tell the others?" Laelith asks you, putting her robe on.

"What others?" you ask, searching through your chests for a tunic that doesnt look as dirty as it is.

"I'm flattered, but you can give me an honest answer." she replies, turning to smile at you.

"You all have your own place in my heart, and what order I share a bed with you doesnt change that in the slightest." you reply honestly "But we can talk about that more later today, for now, it should be enough to know that I love all of you." you reply honestly, finally giving up and grabbing one that merely smells of dirt, with a few stains on the stomach. Laelith kisses you before leaving your tent, a happy spring in her step.

You make your way over to where your detachment for Commander Nomz is gathering. Wulf is glancing about nervously, though before you can ask him what is the matter, Kyria walks up to you "Good morning Justinian, how was your sleep?" she asks you, smiling.

Kyrias face reddens slightly to go with her smile as she pulls away "I guess I'll have to be especially careful then." she replies, before heading off to yell at her battalion.

You had nearly half of Sansa's bottle." ... "NO!!!! Dont drink any hangover cure Sansa offers you, and dont let Bellatrix either, she's going to be angry enough with me as it is, I'd rather not have that on my head too." you hear laughter "What do you mean she wont be that mad?" ...
