First I drew up some rough blueprints and tested the main shapes with cardboard.
I started from the feet up, using flower pots, beer cans and wooden rods to bend the hot gingerbread into curved shapes.
I admit I had to use some glue because sugar and frosting simply would not hold. The finished thing stands 3 feet tall and I don't even know how much it weighs.

-I started planning this in January
-I started working on it in May
-It took 7 months to finish
-It's 970mm (~38 inches) tall
-The original design included a small belly dome, an anti-air gun and some banners. These were later dropped because they didn't look good.
-I was going to decorate it but couldn't come up with a good looking plan
-I have no idea how much it weighs, but I'd assume at least 10kg
-The diameter of the largest gun is so big a space marine can stand inside it
-There are several failed spare parts, including 3 towertops, a foot, some gun barrels and several large plates.
-It almost tipped over a few times so I needed to add ballast to the back to stop it from self-destructing
-I had to keep it next to a fan and a dehumidifier to stop the gingerbread from becoming soft and moist
-It's so huge I doubt I can fit it into my apartment reasonably

I can answer any other questions you may have about it as well.

I have a fairly good "mind's eye" so to speak, I can visualize things very easily. Also since I'm not too great with sports, music or maths I focused on art and languages during school which further helped me along the path. In the end I became a game designer and amateur film maker / baker / kitbasher and I'm very ok with it.

Well Storm Raven is mostly flat surfaces. While I imagine ginger Eldar vehicle or Nid MCs would be cool they would be very hard to do due the amount of curves and textures. Boxy Imperial tech, on the other hand, should lend itself to gingerbreading quite well. I actually haven't tried any of this so this only theory though.

I know I said 2 surprises but there were some complications with the other one.
Instead I'll try to compensate with a little bonus.

Most of us probably remember the oft-doomed 40k dating sim that has been the proverbial Duke Nukem Forever of this board at times.
I have a demo of it but Dranon was unable to get the art done for today due to lolxmas so you'll just have to sit tight and wait for it for a while longer.

Then the bonus: As soon as I fix some shit with my bank account (read: early 2011) I'll at fucking last start doing commissions. So incase you're among those guys who have asked me to do some in the past, this might be good news for you.
