    Blood Magpie thread part 2.

    Last thread>>13552516

We were discussing how the Blood Ravens have WAY too many 'gifts' from other members of the space marines and imperium for it to make sense.

    Some little gems.

"Say... that mural over there, I can clearly remember that being part of our fortress Monastery on Maccrage.."
"Yes, it was... gifted to us by Calgar Himself. Holy Relic. Adorns our chapel now. Wielded by our greatest heroes in over a hundred campaigns, moving on."
    "Wait, wielded, how, when!?"
    "Moving on"
    "Hey, where´s my ancient stormbolter?"

    >Penitence of the Fallen

    >This specially-modified Chainsword is inlaid with six black orbs along its blade, and was named by the Blood Ravens' Master of the Forge in honor of the Dark Angels ceaseless crusade against traitors. Upon hearing of this weapon's existence, Supreme Grand Master Azrael himself transmitted a message via astropath to Terra proclaiming that he had "no idea what those fucking Blood Ravens are talking about," and that they were probably Heretics.

    - Techpriest, what are you doing in the Dark Angels' secret forbidden library with a camera?
    - Oh, you know, just... looking around... I was looking for the mess actually, I think I must have turned the wrong way... I'll be leaving now.

Shhht. Blood Ravens don´t steal. They just get copious amounts of "gifts" and "presents". They may occasionally "borrow" items from anyone in a 30´ range, but that´s it.

Oh, and they forge weapons for every other chapter, but no one wants them. Personally I think it´s a scheme to give a history behind all these suddenly appearing relics.

Jaghatai Khan Primarch of the White Scars chapter led his Space Marines to victory using lightning raids and vicious strikes at the enemy's weak flanks and rear. Inspired by these tales Captain Brocus of the Blood Ravens' 6th Company adopted a similar set of tactics after suffering horrible losses to a burgeoning Ork Waaagh in M39. Brocus adopted this power axe as his personal weapon and named it in honor of the Khan.

Armor, Bolters, Chainswords, hell even KNIVES are all treasured artifacts that cannot be replaced (or replaced very easily). Everything will have a name, everything will have a story attached to it.

I'd say this. Relic have pretty clearly shown themselves to have a good grasp on the setting (that we took for granted, witness the reaction to Soulstorm's fluff-buggery). I wouldn't be surprised if it's an in-joke that somehow developed from the fact DoW is all based around stealing control points, that ended up as a company wide 'lol blood magpies' thing.

Most chapters haven't made up about 90% of their armoury out of stuff that used to belong to other chapters/institutions, though.

Most chapters will have "The Kronus Knife of Undying" where some guy stabbed a necron or some shit and the knife was all that was left, or something similar. Most chapters will *not* have a warhammer previously wielded by the chapter master of *another* chapter.
